I have Sceptile use false swipe until the legendary's health bars in red then I use a sleep move, and throw Ultra balls at it.

I get a pokemon that knows false swipe and another pokemon that knows Thunder Wave or Hypnosis/Sleep powder. Then use Ultra balls and Timer balls.

save + quick ball, if this goes on too long I use false swipe and status ailments. Simple as that

I simply save, make sure my first party pokemon is strong enough to go against the legendary and then apply a status problem to the pokemon I'm trying to catch. Once its weak enough, I just start throughing poke balls. XD I do the same things for normal pokemon as well.

use different ball each time you toss them IF you aren't using master ball.

also sleep is useful. so does paralysis. never ever use poison, confuse and burn status! so does spite.

always have a healer in your team. recovery in case hp is low. setting up walls will be good too.

for those of you who evidently fell asleep during the tutorial at the beginning of EVERY GAME you catch them the same as any other pokemon; weaken it, throw a ball at it, and cross your fingers.
    wash. rinse. repeat.

I use False Swipe to get them down to 1 HP and then put them to sleep. I start throwing Balls after that, especially Timer Balls as the battles goes on, which helped me catch many of the legendaries.

I never really bothered with a Pokémon designed for catching others in Gen III. Instead, I used my Sceptile's False Swipe and my Manectric's Thunder Wave, occasionally resorting to my Gardevoir's Hypnosis.

This is really cheap but what I did was have two Gen III games (e.i. Ruby and Saphire) and just use one to trade master balls to the other game. Then use them to catch EVERYTHING (legendaries mind you). But if I can't use that meathod, I do this: I don;t have a pokemon with false swioe so I just use a super-effective move ( I am awesome with type advantages) Then not effective moves until the HP is in the red then try status moves and throw Ultra/Timer Balls until it is caught. I tend to buy things in bulk.

Chuck at Master Ball at them.

If I don't have one, then I just weaken the legendary down to red health, paralyze it (because it doesn't wear off as easily as sleep), toss an Ultra Ball, and pray.

Before I do anything, I save in front of them. I get their health to red, inflict sleep/paralysis, then throw multiple ultra and time balls at it.

I save before battling it, then get it as weak as possible, apply a status ailment if I can and lob Ultra Balls like no tomorrow. Or if I'm feeling lazy, use the good old Master Ball.

Yeah, but you don't have a master ball for every legendary out there.

I have a Scyther who uses false swipe, then I switch to a Butterfree who uses sleep powder, and then I spam ultra balls.

I always try to inflict either paralysis or sleep on my victim, then I get its HP down to about 10% or so...That usually gets me the gold after only a few tries...

Have a lot of Pokeballs or whatever and weaken it with Paralysis, Frozen or Sleep and then throw, throw, throw until success.

It's kinda tough in this generation, because I don't easily have access to False Swipe like I do in Fourth and Fifth.

But generally, I try to find a Pokemon that can set up Sleep or Paralysis. I'm not very picky on the means, but I generally try to have at least one of the two statuses on my in-game team. I'll usually lead by using the status move on them, then landing several hits to bring them into the red. At that point, it's just a game of "Chuck the Ball" until it clicks. If I'm using sleep, and it wears off, I'll usually reapply it if I can.

I tend to dislike using Great or Ultra Balls, because I don't really like the animation, so I'll usually stick to normal Pokeballs. I actually caught all the legendaries in both Black and White that way (except for those that I used Premier Balls for).

I've found that, of all the legendaries in this generation, Mewtwo is easily the hardest one to catch because of Recover. As long as you can get a Steel to wall Psychic and Swift, you can generally hold off his offense. But keeping him down in the red is tough, thanks to his Recover. I've found that when trying to catch him, Paralysis is far more reliable than Sleep. Mainly because Sleep will wear off, and he can prevent a recast by using Safeguard, whereas Paralysis is a one-shot deal. Magneton is probably the best Pokemon I've found that can hold him off while you catch him. I'll generally catch one around the Cerulean Cave, relearn Thunder Wave, and use it to wall the crap out of Mewtwo while I expend a hundred Pokeballs trying to catch the bugger. If you really wanna play around, you can use Sonicboom to chip away at his HP, 20 at a time.

You do if you have Emerald and don't care about cheating.
