Uh, lowering the Pokemon's HP to red and if possible, paralyzing or putting it to sleep, then throwing Ultra or Timer Balls.

Spoiler:- personality tests, quiz results etc.:
For roamers like the Lati twins (I loves Latias), I like to use a Pokemon with Shadow Tag i.e. Wynaut or Wobbuffet. I then Mirror Coat the legend down to red, and then heal any damage. Then I hope like crazy and use Ultra Balls. I remember catching Latias this way.
For Entei, Raikou and Suicune, I kust use Master Ball since I recently heard about the roar glitch on Bulbapedia.
But for the stationary legends, the standard Para/sleep works well for me. That and Shedinja if I'm up against Kyogre, Regice, Registeel, Articuno or Mewtwo.
I use like 3 to 4 strong moves and then I use any kind of poke ball mostly ultra.
Or I will use a false swipe until it is in red lives and I just use poke balls and after alote of times timer balls.
I usually just get them to low HP, paralyze them(unlike sleep it doesn't 'run out'), then start throwing ultra balls. If i haven't caught it after while i begin with the Timer Balls.
Whenever I toss a ball I spam the A button and focus on the wittle circle button on the ball.
It seems to help ALOT

My Best Friend Pokemon: Smashy Gorebyss Honchkrow Spoiler:- Credits:
Save before the legendary, weaken it to 1hp with false swipe, make it sleep, and use ultra balls. Mashing buttons doesn't help whatsoever. Trust me, I thought it did for about 5 years.
Shiny Latias: Caught December 27th, 2014 on ΩR.
Shiny Latios: Caught February 8th 2015 on αS.
Paralyse/Sleep it, bring it to red, le spamming le ultra ballz.
Or glitching postgame I guess, the Battle Tower Glitch, just make the pokemon you are cloning hold the ball.
Or winning the lottery (Chances are slim though.).
I hate cheating honestly, but I have an AR for Ds. Mainly I use it to clone (EV pokemon) or for event items I cannot obtain.
False Swipe + Ultra Balls.

I used to just throw Ultra Balls at Legendary Pokemon when I started playing the games, but now I actually weaken them with moves like False Swipe before using Ultra Balls. I think it's the best method since it saves you time. I also used to hold down certain buttons, but that never worked.
I save before I fight it, knock its HP down into the reds, start chucking Ultra Balls and hope for the best.
Friend Safari: Sunkern, Sawsbuck, Maractus
I just chuck balls at it like a madman. Usually works when it's on low HP
Hi guys! I am working on a new forum and I would love some help getting it up and running. It is a fantasy themed forum where you can talk about games, books, tv, movies, as well as post your creative things. I encourage anyone who is into fantasy to check the website out HERE.
Duplicate Master Balls with the Emerald cloning glitch
Before I learnt about that, and still in Leaf Green since I lack a GBA link cable, I've tended to not have specific catchers in third-gen games, unlike 4th gen. I'll have status on someone - often paralysis rather than sleep, since although it's less effective it's permanent - and False Swipe on someone else. Early in the battle I'll either use Ultra Balls, or I'll just waste turns until my Timer Balls will be effective. Raikou in Leaf Green got Master Balled because of the Roar glitch.
I tend to use my Gengar for every legendary. It has mean look for the ones that run, and hypnosis to put them to sleep. Once it is asleep i whittle down its hp then just chuck balls at it

I'd use a level 100 Smergle with False Swipe, Extreme Speed, Block, and Spore.
Trust me, it's worth leveling up at least one for each generation.
Weaken the Pokemon first and then have Gengar hit it with Hypnosis. Start throwing Poke Balls.
And yes. I did just type Poke Balls. It's not too hard if you just throw a lot of them.
*throws a Master Ball at a 3rd Generation Legendary Pokemon in his FireRed Version * Wait, what?
Ok, kidding aside, I usually try to lower his/her HP to close to a sliver in red left, and then usually try to either put him/her to sleep, or to paralyse him/her. Then I usually throw Ultra Balls and hope for the best!
For roaming Legendary Pokemon , I usually throw my Master Ball , though, if I have one. :P

I think I just went for saving before starting the match, and then lower HP as much as possible and then spam ultra balls.
But if you want a smart tactic i´d say go for sleep/paralysis, and if you want to be extra sure go for false swipe as well.
