I wouldn't be surprised if it was sometime next year, maybe around this time again. GBA VC would be a nice christmas gift, yeah? We still need the NES games, come to think of it, though...

Speaking of belated things, why are people looking forward to SwapNote? What is it, again?

    let's see...
The messaging application arrives as part of the Nintendo Download and lets you send messages via StreetPass and SpotPass. You can write or draw in 2D or 3D and include sound effects and photos too.
    huh
why wasn't this part of an update? The Wii had this from the start and without an separate app

Swapnote, imo, should have been included in the friend list to begin with, rather than a separate app.

I posted similar sentiments back in September in the Nintendo 3DS Discussion thread, amongst others:

You're getting streetpasses at a farmer's market. That's proof enough.

You could've just quoted the relevant information.

Also, just got Shantae. Money well spent.

ALL OF YOU SHOULD GO GET SHANTAE TOO. IT'S THE BEST DSiware GAME EVER. Not that that's an achievement.

I did that like eight months ago. I love its soundtrack so much.

So, it's really good then? The price tag sorta deters me....

    What's the plot and/or how's it played?

Like a classic platformer. You control Shantae. She attacks using her hair as a whip, and she can transform into different animals to navigate through secret areas. Plus, Shantae can also buy spells to attack harder.

Also mildly Metroidvania-y. Various odds and ends scattered around to encourage you to come back with power ups to find more things.
Wayforward has wonderful dot artists, by the way, there's some beautiful and fluid sprites and animations

It was supposed to be episodic but there's been no word on when Part 2 comes out.

Okay, so after download I now have 357 blocks left on my SD card, which rises two questions:

    1. Is this because of all the music I've downloaded, all the games or both?
    2. About how many more titles will I be able to download?

The answer to both is: It varies. Some games and things are small, some are large.
But, geez, how many things do you have downloaded? I mean, I've downloaded a lot of things to the 2 gig card and still have like 12,000 blocks left.

    Only 54 titles, not much.

54 titles would do it, I imagine!

Anyway the easiest way to check is to go the Data Management settings, it will tell you how many blocks the software takes up. Just glancing at mine, it seems most GB titles are mid-late 30s, 3DSware ~150 ish, trailers in the 180s, and DSiWare varies a lot based on the game (ie: Shantae & Four Swords are prety large, but then you've got things like Spotto! that's only 23).

I have no NES or GBA games so I've no clue how much those might take up

Oh wow, trailers alone take up 180? Geez, that's crazy.

Some of them. The Animal Crossing one was, but I think Rolling Western was maybe in the 120s and Kid Icarus in the 140s
Maybe because of the 3D? I dunno, probably aren't meant to hold on to them. You can always redownload them later, even after their taken down though, so it might not hurt to delete them

Speaking of SD Cards, a Wii/DSi Card of 4GB ($11) is two dollars higher than a normal 4GB SD ($9).

They released the entire thing as one game.

You know normal SD cards work perfectly fine, right?

"Episodic" in the sense that Sonic 4 is episodic. The idea is/was that instead of just a Shantae 2 proper, they'd have 3 or so Shantae downloadable titles so it wouldn't stay development hell for years at a time.

edit: Oh, double checking wiki I apparently missed that they ditched the episode plan. My bad, I hadn't heard anything about that.

Absolutely. I was merely pointing out how weird it is that Nintendo SD Cards are two dollars higher. A friend of mine told me theirs don't work very well, though.
