I'm seriously loving this game, but I'm extremely frustrated with the fact I have NO idea whatsoever on how to recruit Wild Pokemon to my teams! Can anyone help? I've not seen a 'mon with a medal over its head at the start of a battle yet. Is there a certain point in the game that you can start linking w/them? Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
I'd love a STEP by STEP to getting this done.
(Also, I'm at work, so my office Firewall blocks a lot of gaming sites, but these Forums aren't so that's why I'm here!)

    1. if the pokemon has a bronze, silver, or gold medal above it you can link with it.
2.walk up to it- don't attack it- and press the link option. you will be brought into a mingame where you press 'A' when the yellow spheres go over the circle on the right.
3.if you dont link with it on that turn, GO BACK TO STEP 2
    4. if you link with it your warrior (the one recruiting) will appear on the screen with the pokemon and say some words
    5. win the battle to keep your new pokemon

Wow, I really need to work on better planning for these passwords... They kind of end up biting you in the butt if you aren't prepared.
I have claimed Joltik. Deal with it.

You're getting streetpasses at a farmer's market. That's proof enough.

I've not seen a medal over any of the 40 or so Wild Pokemon I've seen. Ever. They've all had glowing purple clouds around them, but I also don't know what that means.
Also, will LINK pop up with/like Fight or Wait?

^^ each warlord specializes ina type or two. the pokemon must be of that type- http://serebii.net/conquest/befriending.shtml and yes it will pop up with fight and wait

Unlike the main games, the trainers within Pokémon Conquest are labelled as Warlords and Warriors and have some special features. Firstly, each of these trainers has a unique type of which they will be able to Link better with Pokémon of that type. They have various stats which can influence the strength and power of the Pokémon and finally, they have specific pokémon that they can reach a 100% link with. This page details all the standard Warlords and gives the information for them.

    I've done that as well.
Never seen the medal come up and never seen the LINK option come up.
    Guess I'll just keep trying.

You use banks to upgrade, but I dont believe I found any banks until after I beat the story.

^^ just find a pokemon of the same type of the pokemon you have have and a medal should appear. for example- bidoof and starly

For the people saying you don't see medals and links, has the guy come and talked to you about linking? Because you don't get to link until after a certain point in the game, so that may be your problem.

Don't you just love it when you are trying to recruit a poke and it turns out it has a gold medal? granted its difficult having a kind of foresight to it but if you know what type the warrior specializes in your odds of getting a gold medal improve. It also doesn't hurt getting a silver too. at the very least you can get one evo if possible

You need to conquer at least 5 castles (including aurora so just defeat 4 more castles) before you are able to link with a pokemon.

Played fire emblem before? I find the battling a little similar to fire emblem though not exactly the same

IDK about Yoshimoto man, that's the Pineco guy right?
Cuz I've beat him multiple times as well, as with Ginchiyo, the Shinx girl in their own nations...

Just beat Viperia, with Kenshin doing a lot of the work. I love that we get both of those leaders so easily :P 2 strongest in my game.

Ok. Got it. Gotta defeat 5 castles first. I'm ready to pop Fontaine now for #3. Thanks, gang! Appreciate the assists!

I heard that to recruit warlords you must beat them with another warlord, so I am going to try that now. =w=
As for comments about evolution, I am not very sure but some criterias are to be met. I had a minor warrior guy with a charmander which evolved right after I beat the Pineco guy. Beating warlords generally gives a lot of exp which is link points in this game. This charmander btw, has a link percentage of ~35-38 with takatora

Most of the evolutions involve getting the stats up to a certain point, I'm not sure if there's a way to raise one in particular like EV training in the main games, but it seems like the stats get boosted after evolution as well, like in the adventure games,

Also I'm finding a lot of evolutions happening late year 3, early year 4, anyone else getting those around that time? seems like that's when a lot of the requirements are being met...

In the post game, are there any special episodes that allow you to play through the game again with the Hero? Also, do Warlord evolutions stay after you pass a special episode?

Seriously, I think all these "unique" evolution methods are all a ruse, seeing as how you evolve them by slowly accumulating Link Points. The only REAL unique evolutions are the Stones and raising Pokemon in specific areas.

    /edit

    Also, for anyone reading this thread that's starting the game;

You can get more Pokemon for your Warlords after conquering five kingdoms, also, after conquering the same amount, you can delegate tasks to your occupied nations (such as training, making money and getting Pokemon and Warriors).

Hey, does Hero's type ever change? I was just hoping maybe it 'evolve' to match Eevee, so you could specialize in a type other than Normal. Or are there any other ways to specialize a type other than using another trainer and having to drag Hero & Oichi along?

No, the Hero's type will always be Normal, but he will still achieve 100% Link with Eevee and any of it's evolutions (plus one other pokemon...). Each Warlord can only achieve 100% link with a small group of Pokemon.
