Wii U Discussion Thread.

Saw the Wii U at the con I went to the other day. Looked awesome but I sadly didn't line up to play and just went back to Kevin Bolk's booth to bug him. Aside from that, I heard from someone at the con that Nintendo got help from Sony on the HD, thus enabling the system to play Blu-rays. Not believing the guy's rumour but nonetheless, I met Kevin Bolk in person!

Paranoia is my best guess. Of course, there's always a chance that any game could turn out to be a flop if it's bad enough. But, apart from those who've played NSMBU and Pikmin 3, we have no idea of how well Nintendo's franchises will translate to the Wii U.

It's really not like the cape beyond the glide function. You can not fly and at best you can get a bit more air with "spinning"
At least, when I played it I couldn't get it to fly. Perhaps I, and the others playing, just weren't trying hard enough.

I was told by an EB Games employer, who swears that the store was informed by Nintendo themselves, that the Wii U will be comming out just before the Christmas holidays. Plus, I read in the Nintendo magazine that the company was doing everything this time round to prevent the same failure that was the 3DS. I think everyone knows that the main problem with the 3DS was that it was way overpriced and there weren't many good titles at the launch... so as long as Nintendo doesn't do that again then the system should do well.

This has never been a reliable source of information. The rank and file store employees don't know more than you or I. The cashier at your local EB Games, pleasant, well-informed chap that I'm sure he/she is, simply doesn't get advance information whispered to them from Nintendo. And on the rare occasion that they might actually get advance information of that nature, they - or at least the company as a whole and/or the local franchise as a business - are usually under some manner of non-disclosure agreement where they can't be found having gone around noising the information to the general public.

Maybe true, maybe not, but it's generally best to at least initially discard anything you hear solely from a store employee.
