Better beware though, they're not all that fond of trainers getting too close to their young so take a wrong step and you may find yourself on the wrong end of a lightning bolt that hasn't come from the sky.

    Areas:
Hydro-Electric Dam: Relatively new to the island is the Hydro-Electric dam, a massive construct that has created a reservoir of water several dozen million cubic feet in volume. Chosen due it being a renewable source of clean energy, and promoted for the fact it produces no waste or greenhouse gases, the dam has become a tourist attraction in its own right, its rich power source attracting a large variety of electric Pokémon to the area.
Dan let out a long whistle of admiration as he looked over the spectacular sight of Whale Island's famous Hydro-Electric dam from a nearby hill. The closest thing he'd seen in Unova to such a clean power generation system were some of the (volunteer) Pokemon-powered systems that diligently helped keep Nimbasa Gym and the surrounding theme park powered. But this was clean energy on a far larger scale - something like the solar roads he'd heard of in Sinnoh, or the power plant that harnessed energy from space in Kalos. This was right up there among such things, a positively marvelous thing to see - and what's more, he'd heard the place's massive power generation made the place naturally very attractive to electric-typed pokemon.

As the partner pokemon - a Joltik called Nick who was altogether rather enthused by the location - upon his head showed, Dan was something of an enthusiast for the electric type; growing up in Nimbasa did the same for many trainers-to-be. However, since coming to Fizzytopia, he'd... not had fantastic fortune in meeting many - hence why he chose to travel to Whale Island. He'd heard tales of a healthy population of electric pokemon, which is half of what caught his interest - the other being a rumor of an abandoned quarry potentially full of riches. He absentmindedly thumbed his pendant; he'd found the chunk of cobalt in Chargestone Cave shortly after starting his travels, sparking a secondary interest; hunting and selling valuable gemstones. All in all, the Plains he'd heard about made this place very, very interesting to him.

Treasure hunting can wait for later, though, Dan thought; I don't know much about that place yet, and after all, this dam is impressive enough of it's own merits. Not to mention how nice it would be to maybe find a new team-mate... Plucking Nick off the Joltik's usual position atop his head, the rather tiny attaching pokemon scuttled around and then atop the left hand that had grabbed him, bouncing softly in place as his trainer addressed him. "Alright buddy, what say we head on over there and check this place out? I know I want to get a look at everything inside - though you better not try leeching from them. Don't think I don't see that look in your eye - they're bigger than your stomach!"

Nick made a point of cheekily rolling all four of his beady blue eyes at once at his trainer's warning, and gave a nod of agreement before promptly scurrying up his trainer's arm and onto his right shoulder. With a grin and a brief chuckle, Dan set off towards what he presumed to be the dam's main entrance, eager to get in and get looking around the facility.

Yawning, the morning sun clearly making him drowsy, Ricardo finally steps out of the small log cabin he had decided to spend the night in, taking a moment to look around the surrounding scenery. His somewhat sleepy grin soon morphs into something more vibrant, and much more energetic, as he pulls his customary mask down over his face. Inhaling sharply, he appreciates the morning air, turning towards Ali ... who as always, was glaring at his trainer. The Breloom was recently traded to Ricardo by someone who was years his elder, the man having traveled far and wide with the Ali, when his name was Melo.

Ricardo was lost in thought as the unsavoury glance of Ali bears into his soul, and he finally sighs heavily. Was he really suited to owning such a battle hardened companion? The way Ali saw it, there was no question in the matter - he flatly wasn't. The Breloom had no qualms about making his dislike for this new trainer well known, even from the moment they had just met. The distance set between the two seemed insurmountable to the fledgling trainer, and part of him was beginning to bend under the weight of expectation. Despite that though, his sunny disposition continued to shine through. Walking over to Ali, Ricardo places a hand on the head of the Breloom, who immediately recoils away, a hiss rising into the air in response. Frowning, Ricardo stretches again, before slowly approaching the edge of the Crater Lake. Looking down over the waters, he ponders where to set off, turning towards Ali and hoping for something of an input. When the Breloom simply turns away from him once again, Ricardo this time chuckles.

"Aw, come on Ali. I'm sure it won't be that bad. Stop being so frosty and let's hit the road."

And with that, the young man thrusts his arm into the air in his customary fashion, giving a loud cry of his name followed by 'onward', before doing exactly that and stomping forwards towards the main body of the lake.

Missingno. Master: Sorry for the fairly anti-climatic update. I swear there’ll be more high-stakes action soon ;)

You’d managed to keep the rouge Missingno. at bay for now – but with the blocks of data recoupling it was only a matter of time before you had an even tougher fight at your hands. You reluctantly lower yourself into the sewer, taking care not to cut your hands on the rusty ladder. Your boots find a ledge, and you transfer the weight of the ladder to your feet – the two feline Pokémon clinging to your shirt as you scope out the dingy passage ahead. The first thing that hits you is the smell – your nose wrinkling even with your own party harbouring a deadlier range of stenches. The oldtimer retches, shying away from the slurry of waste coursing down the passageway as you both take one last fleeting glance at the manhole above. The sunlight raining from the fissure is quickly displaced by darkness as you make your escape – Meowth’s koban switching on like a Flashlight, improving visibility some. Moss crawled up the curved walls resembling spattered paint, a Spinarak dangling overhead quickly recoiling into a ceiling crevice. A pack of Rattatta raise themselves up on their haunches, noses and paws twitching as you bathe them in torchlight. Before Lenny can make for a pounce, you quickly press on down the walkway. Beneath the mayhem of the metropolis, there’s little sound to fill your ears sans for the dripping of leaky pipes and the echo of your own footsteps. The old man’s occasional sobs were only intermitted by his babbling… “This is going to be like Cinnabar all over again… So many dead… I just wanted to show people how to catch a Pokémon…” With time to kill, perhaps now was a good chance to get to know this foreign stranger. What will you say?

    Peili Harbour

Aposteriori: Welcome to Whale Island! Not a bad intro post, just a few points from me:

    - Please describe any of your character’s actions instead of using asterisk, so instead of *Releases out of Pokeball*, something like “Aposteriori lobbed a Pokéball skyward, Tangela bursting free in a shimmer of light”
    - Stick to third or first person, depending on your preference. You jump between the two at some points in your post.
    - I’m also happy for you to write in past tense rather than present tense, just be sure to be consistent.

With your Tangela in tow you set your sights on Peili Harbour, a pretty sight beneath the moonlight. There were galleys of all sizes dotted up and down the pier, moored in the still of night with the moon dancing like diamond glints on the dark and tranquil sea. You stare in awe at the constellations, following their starry trail down to the fluorescent lights of amusement park which seemed just as pretty in their own way. A stark contrast to the calm surf – your ears are met with a cacophony of sounds as you make a beeline to the fair. The briny air carries the smell of fresh popcorn and sickly-sweet candyfloss, your mouth watering as you forgo the nearby food vendors. Twisting rollercoasters snake overhead and a crowd was growing as you gravitated toward the pier’s ferris wheel. With the growing congestion, Flynn had become impossible to keep tabs on. You press on his general direction, passing by various carnival attractions such as “Hook the Psyduck” and “The Tunnel of Luvdisc”, catching up to the Tangela just a moment too late… A crowd had gathered around Flynn, who had a Helioptile Constricted by a pair of vines. The frilled lizard retaliates with a Thunder Shock – frying Flynn and escaping his grip. You can’t imagine why your companion would pick a fight unprovoked, but between the Helioptile’s flared frills and the crowd of cheering spectators, it didn’t look like you were making it out of this one easily… What will you do?

(Don't sweat it, I know they can't all be action-packed. Looking forward to where this whole thing is going. )

Lowering oneself into a sewer. By no means an activity one would do voluntarily except under extreme circumstances. And these, Keith could not deny, were extreme circumstances. He was still trying to wrap his mind around the fact that he'd just battled and defeated a Kabutops Skeleton Missingno. that appeared basically out of nowhere in the middle of the city. It was big, it was powerful, and it knew a buttload of good moves. In fact, as Keith thought back on the battle, he came to a realization- every single move Missingno. had used in their battle, was also a move Lenny knew how to use. Like, right down to the Hidden Power type. Coincidence? No, surely not. Keith was rather well-learned on the Missingno. species. He knew of its multiple possible forms. Myrtle, when she was alive, had been what is known as the "Normal Form"- a vaguely L-shaped creature most closely associated with the Missingno. species. But the Kabutops Skeleton Form, it was one of three Missingno. forms that had no set type or learnable moves. Rather, they took on the characteristics of the Pokémon species that were nearby- sort of the Pokémon equivalent of rice, one might say, considering rice in and of itself is flavorless, instead taking on the flavors of what one cooks it with.

As such thoughts ran through Keith's mind, he lowered himself into the sewer. The ladder was rusty, he had to be careful not to cut himself on it... oddly for him, the smell was the first thing he noticed. It reeked, even by Keith's standards- you know a sewer really smells when the stench bothers somebody who willingly hugs his Muk and Trubbish on a regular basis! But that poor old man seemed to take the stench even worse. For Keith, it was mildly unpleasant, and Keith was very much used to horrible smells, to the point where he rarely, if ever, noticed them. He doubted the same applied to the old man.

They made their way through the rancid sewers, Meowth's Flash enabling him to emit a beam of light from his charm to light the way, illuminating the mossy walls, the Spinarak, the pack of Rattata... Lenny seemed eager to go for the Rattata, but Keith held him back. "Lenny, now's not the time, OK?" he said patiently to the oddly-colored Sneasel.

"Snee, Sneasel," Lenny nodded in response.

As they walked, Keith listened to the old man. He was mostly sobbing, but between the sobs, the occasional words could be heard. Apparently, the old man believed this would end up like Cinnabar Island all over again, and how all he wanted was to show people how to catch a Pokémon. Keith was very much intrigued now- he'd read all about Missingno., knew the species to be somewhat common in the sea near Cinnabar Island... what had happened?

"Excuse me, sir," Keith said to the old man. "What exactly happened at Cinnabar Island? How do you know of Missingno.? And why was that Kabutops Skeleton Missingno. attacking the city?"

    Default Whale Island - 38

    Seaside City

Missingno. Master: The rumble of cars overhead echoed through the tunnel in a low, buzzing hum that travelled through the steel infrastructure all the way down to your boots. Determined to keep incognito, you journey deeper into the intricate sewer network – taking all kinds of twists and turns as you follow the stream of sewage downstream. Minutes roll into hours and with no chance of being overheard – other than by the scurrying Rattata – you decide it’s high time you got to know your cagey companion. The oldtimer snaps out of his reverie, wiping away his tears and divulging his tale…

“It all started on the fateful day in Viridian City, when I agreed to show a rookie trainer how to catch a Pokémon. The kid reminded me of you, now that I think about it… Later that day, he had reported the discovery of a new species off the east coast of Cinnibar Island. Scientists believe that the species emerged from a portal in the deepest depths of the ocean, where volcanic activity is at its highest. You see – volcanoes harbour tremendous amounts of natural energy capable of catalysing such spatial anomalies. The portal destabilised before it could be studied and things for a time went back to normal – until I showed another trainer how to catch a Pokémon…”

“I didn’t believe it myself for a time. But through a very specific sequence of actions, I was capable of distorting the very fabric of space and time. I was the bridge between their world and ours… An unlikely gatekeeper, although I soon realised that what I was opening were the gates of hell…” The oldtimer had a sombre expression, from what little of his face was shed under Meowth’s torchlight.

“You see, harmless as these beings are, they are not governed by our world’s physics. The more of them that emerged from the portal, the more their world would leak into ours… At first, there was no cause for concern. Trainers were reporting great riches; troves of rare candies, technical machines, even bicycles, spawning out of thin air… But then the incidents started to happen… Technology around the Cinnibar region would go haywire… And then… The Pokémon… They became corrupted by the glitch over time… It only got worse from there as the portal swelled in size… Trainers who had been in close proximity to the glitch Pokémon were losing their memories, falling into comas they would be trapped in forever. Then there were casualties…” Tears were streaming down his face as his words became less audible. The man’s hands were shaking, covered in the metaphorical blood of the victims he felt responsible for. Just when you thought the story couldn’t get any graver, the old man continued.

“That’s when the military stepped in… A team of special Ops were tasked with hunting down the glitch Pokémon one by one… The Missingno. were not at fault, but they were gunned down without mercy all the same… But this didn’t stop more from coming through the portal… It was decided they would wipe out the incident zone, closing the portal for good, but at great cost… While Cinnibar Island was evacuated long before the induced eruption of its volcano, countless Pokémon were lost, their habitats completely destroyed.” With his tale drawing to a close you feel a mixture of emotions stirring within; mourning for the loss of so much life, anger at the cruelty of humans and frustration with rift between glitch and mankind might never be repaired. It dawns on you that the old man has been dealing with these emotions for most of his life, his drunken episodes suddenly not so surprising.

“Feeling personally responsible for the loss of so many lives, I went into hiding… I have been travelling the world under different aliases for over fifteen years – but the Missingno. you faced has a score to settle with me. He’s followed me to the ends of the earth and won’t stop until his species are avenged. The fool doesn’t realise that I’m an old man, and if he doesn’t get his vengeance on me, nature will soon do his work for him! If only I could bring back his fallen brothers… Or return him to the world he came from… But no, I could never open the portal again…” The pathway stopped there. While your escape came grinding to a halt, sewage water continued to flow down a dark and dingy cylinder a few meters in height and width. There was ample room for one of your aquatic allies to ferry you from here on, but were you brave enough to continue?

“Man, I had to skip over some succulent Candyfloss.” The trainer gripes as he realizes he has to attend to his friend before things get out of hand. The trainer surely misses the good old days. To start off the summer, his father would bring him to the fair, and always get on every ride at least once. His father sought out many memory forming moments with his child, compensating for the fact that Aposteriori’s mother was not around to share in love giving part.

“I wish I was ten again. I would be getting on the tallest rollercoaster probably until I puked” the trainer thought to himself, running past the ride as he catches up to Tangela.

Aposteriori does a giant roll of the eyes, and wonders how in the world Flynn Ryder already fell victim of a match. He understands his friend’s rambunctious nature, but dang the researcher thinks that was fairly fast. Stepping into the circle, he realizes that now there is a crowd, waiting for a spectacle. Aposteriori starts to perspire intensely, not knowing what to do in the heat of the moment. Going with the flow of the crowd, the trainer orders his Pokemon to continue on with the match. Maybe the trainer will show up or something.

“Flynn, feel free to use Hidden Power against your opponent. Follow up by hugging it tightly with Constrict to give your opponent something worry about.” His voice sounded unsure if this is what he really wants to do on his day off. Alas, the show must go on and the people seem to be unwavering, wanting to spectate at all costs. Flynn on the other hand is always excited to battle, and this will surely keep him entertained. The trainer is just concerned that he may be hurting another trainer’s Pokemon without probable cause.

There was ample room for one of your aquatic allies to ferry you from here on, but were you brave enough to continue?
The man launched into his story... for reasons unknown to him, it appeared that by teaching people how to catch Pokémon, he was somehow able to open a portal to another dimension, a portal which would materialize in the sea near Cinnabar Island. A portal through which very strange Pokémon were able to emerge. "Glitch City..." Keith murmured, having actually visited the distorted dimension once himself. The man went on to explain that, as harmless as Missingno. were, they did not answer to real-world physics. At first, the effects seemed beneficial, but then there were reports of memory loss, comas... even death. Keith wasn't sure what to say to this- the old man felt personally responsible for all of this! Then, the old man continued. The military had gotten involved, had hunted down the beings one by one, gunned them down without a single shred of mercy or remorse. And then came the most shocking part of the story...

"They made Cinnabar's volcano erupt?!" Keith half exclaimed in shock and anger. He had heard of that incident, but as far as he'd known, it was just a freak accident, a natural disaster. But to think that people actively sought to make the thing erupt, were responsible for wiping out so many Pokémon, whether Missingno. or otherwise... Keith couldn't speak. He felt sick, and not because of the sewer, either. He knew many people feared Missingno., those who believed in its existence mostly seeming to dislike it... but this... this was all-out warfare against the Misisngno. Aggression and hostility against a peaceful species of Pokémon just because their odd physiology caused strange things to happen... Yes, people have died, but it's not like the Missingno. intended for such things to happen! Surely there was a solution that involved less violence!

The man went on, explaining that he went into hiding, given his feeling of personal responsibility for what had happened. Apparently, however, the Kabutops Skeleton Missingno. from before was one with a score to settle- his intention, to avenge his species. It seemed he, too, believed the old man personally responsible, even though all he was guilty of was unwillingly being the means of opening a portal to Glitch City.

"Perhaps he can be reasoned with," Keith suggested. "I might not be the one to reason with him, but..." his fingers brushed up against a Poké Ball on his belt as he spoke. "...I have a friend who is in a much better position to understand Missingno.'s plight," he murmured. "She used to be a Missingno. herself, when she was alive. If anyone can try and reason with that Missingno., it would be Myrtle here." He turned to look at the old man. "A Missingno. once saved my life," he said. "I think the least I can do is help this Missingno. any way I can."

Presently, they came to the end of the pathway. If they were to continue onward, it would be through the water, through the filthy sewer water. "Sneee..." Lenny wrinkled his nose at the water, before tapping a claw against the Ice Ball on Keith's belt, withdrawing himself.

"Well, this shouldn't be a problem," Keith remarked, taking another Poké Ball off his belt. "Go, Aquarius!" he exclaimed, as a Tentacruel was unleashed from the ball and into the sewer water.. Once she was ready, Keith climbed atop his Tentacruel, with two of her tentacles gently holding him in place. Keith then motioned for the old man to climb on as well, at which point Aquarius would swim whichever way they needed to go with her Trainer and the old man Surfing on her back.

Some unapproved logging has been taking place recently, however, causing much stress to both the WICS and the local wildlife, prompting the Pokémon to show higher levels of hostility toward trainers and picnickers alike.

Pirate's Cove: A sizable gulf set in some cliffs, with torrential waters at the entrance preventing proper investigation. So called for the fact that pirates frequented the cove for their plunder, and located not too far from the Laguna Peninsula, the rapids have resulted in the area being less cordoned as a tourist spot. Though several people have managed to brave the waters, using their powerful Surfing Pokémon to break through, none have emerged from the hallowed cliffs, rumoured to contain vast swathes of booty.
As the sun was setting behind the horizon, the sea’s air turned into a faint wisp of its warmer self. A small breeze was more than enough to get Lucas to put his coat back on, but not enough to move from his lazy resting position to do so. The waves had been getting increasingly harder as they got closer to shore, slowing down the Wailord who was trying her best to gently break through them on account of her trainer on top. Another tide pushes against her and she bellows a soft moan.
“Everything all right Pearl,” her trainer asked from atop.
The Wailord gave another soft moan in return.
“Aww, don’t give me that. You’re saying you’re having trouble in this water?” he said playfully. “You, the big mammoth of the ocean is letting a little wave get in the way?”
    The Wailord cheered a moan.
“That’s right,” Lucas complimented her, “you’re a big girl aren’t you.” He started rubbing the Wailord’s top in a ticklish manner. “You’re not going to let some silly itty-bitty wave get the best of you, no.” He continued rubbinging the Wailord. Pearl was a big-hearted lug of a Wailord and surprisingly young and childish for someone her size. She blew a small geyser of water as a joyous response.
“That’s the spirit. Now get ready, we’re about to break through the current,” he looked on at the gulf ahead. Sharp cliffs surrounded the place, dotted with the occasional cave or grotto, and met up in an almost crescent moon that stirred the water between into violent rapids. Most people were discouraged from visiting the places as many people had not returned from it, but that is what had made it the perfect place for pirates to hide their treasure, and thus lent the place its name; Pirate’s Cove.
Treasure was the exact and only reason Lucas was here. After his unfortunate accident at home, his base ended up in a state of disrepair that required attention and finance, neither of which Lucas could be said to have much of. It would be a lie to say he only needed the money for repairs, the sense of going treasure hunting excited him furiously, and he intended to take all of it if he could. ‘To Distortion with museums and the poor,’ he had said. Had Lucas brought his conscience with him, the Gallade would have surely made him share his findings with others. But as long as Lucas could tell him he was only going to find what was needed to pay for repairs, he wouldn’t have to worry about Rags’ nagging. Besides Rags was needed elsewhere and couldn’t waste time babysitting his trainer.
The idea of torrential waters blocking the surf ahead did little to stop his enthusiasm, and instead fuelled it as it made him confident that the treasure remained as little touched as possible. Only with strong or exceptionally large Pokémon could one hope to cross the waters, and his Wailord Pearl was both. Besides her, Lucas had brought Faust his Quiet, obedient Dusclops for light and Mal the Lonely, devoted Zubat for sound. In addition, he had decided to bring Amabel his Tynamo with him. Amp was a new member of the team but Lucas had spent massive amounts of time training her at his base; something he was better at than he’d ever admit to people. This would be the first time she was brought with him though, and he hoped he could use Faust and Mal as model examples for her. Similar to Pearl, Amabel was young and childish, but unlike Pearl, she was more immature and naďve, and would require a close eye and careful direction.
Lucas put on his jacket once the tidal waves came into close view and squatted in a preparative position. “Ready girl?”
The Wailord blew a wet roar in confidence.
“Then full speed ahead!” Using the momentum of the waves and her swimming, Pearl charged for the waters in an attempt to break through the surf, in what would be he first leg of their quest for treasure.

A tourist magnet, Whale Island is a large region of land that was formed from volcanic activity a millennia ago. There is a strange abundance of electrical energy present on this island which, rather than posing a problem, has complemented the island entirely. The entire area is a haven for water Pokémon with even the mountain craters filled to the brim, the abundance of water sports and holiday travel locations ensuring the time you spend here is never dull. Cities and townships are located all across the island, with resorts, inns, and travel lodges in ample supply. The Hydra River is the main waterway, starting up in the north-west area of the island and down through the Central Plains where the great Hydro-Electric Dam has been constructed, before leading down to the south-eastern corner of the island and back out to sea. Whether it's action water sports you're after, or just lazing on a nice stretch of beach somewhere, you'll definitely find the place you're looking for on the famous Whale Island.

    Laguna Peninsula
The Laguna Peninsula, also known as "Pirate Isle", is mainly forest and is famous for once harbouring a particularly nasty clan of pirates whose treasure is rumoured to still be hidden away somewhere in the vicinity. The peninsula is located on the south east end of Whale Island and although the pirates have long since vacated the land, they've certainly left their mark. Other than a rest house occupied by the peninsula's caretaker, there are no other dwellings here, the entire peninsula being under the protection of the Whale Island Conservation Society (WICS). It is said secret hideouts are cleverly hidden everywhere, so even if you're not aware of it you'll definitely have passed several of them if you're to take a scenic walk across the peninsula. Visit Pirate Isle and you'll be in for a jolly good time.

    Areas:
Laguna Lake: A freshwater lake where the local Pokémon come to drink. People will often picnic here while trainers are more interested in seeing the kinds of Pokémon the lake attracts.

“Ah, the beautiful Laguna Lake! I’ve always wanted to come here.” Said The Doctor, breathing deeply. The air was as sweet as it could be and the lake was crystal clear. There were a very few people around, quietly eating, drinking and having fun. The Doctor thought about letting his Pokemon out as well. He pulled out a Pokeball from his Pokebelt and attached it to his sonic screwdriver. Putting his hand forwards, he pressed the button. “Go, Casper!” A red light came from the Pokeball as it quickly shaped up into a Chinchou.

Chinchou, quickly hopped towards the doctor and started rubbing itself to The Doctor’s feet. “Now, now.” Said The Doctor, bending down towards his Chinchou. “How are you my friend?” Asked The Doctor, gently patting her head. In response, Casper gave out a weakest of jolts, letting The Doctor know how she felt. The Doctor and Casper had very good understanding of each other. “Now then, time to explore the lake, shall we?” The Doctor was really looking forward to know what kind of Pokemon lived around the lake and within it. He took out his Journal and marked “Day 1, Entry one: By Far the most beautiful place I have ever seen. If this is not heaven, I don’t know what is.”

After making his note, The Doctor went near the Lake. He took out his bottle of water and put it inside the lake to fill it up. Once the bottle was filled, The Doctor took a sip. “How sweet is this water?” asked The Doctor, having some more, while staring at his reflection in the lake. “Come here Casper, get yourself fresh.” The Doctor asked his beloved Casper to step on inside the water. The Doctor could sense mystical powers in the vicinity. Was it really something mystical? Or was it just a feeling?

Chosen due it being a renewable source of clean energy, and promoted for the fact it produces no waste or greenhouse gases, the dam has become a tourist attraction in its own right, its rich power source attracting a large variety of electric Pokémon to the area.
Somewhere high atop a residential tower in Seaside City, nestled in a tiny studio apartment was Benjamin, or Ben as he like to be called. And with him was a Shelgon, one of the few faithful companions left in his possession.

"It'll have to do." He announced, "it's the tallest man-made structure on Whale Island, and this is long overdue." Though listening intently, Shelgon avoided making eye contact.

Ben was speaking of her evolution. Bagon and Shelgon have long held aspirations of flight, and are typically known to throw themselves off mountainous terrain in preparation for such a day. Though less could be said about his Shelgon's ambitions to do so. Her Careful nature has kept her from reaching her final evolutionary form, though it wasn't a problem with Ben, he couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt that his Shelgon wasn't enjoying the quality of life that most of her species are accustomed to.

"Shell.. shelgon?" she murmured, cautiously inching toward the large apartment window. Her eyes surveying the gloomy grey skies, perhaps troubling herself with thoughts of doubt.

With the seemingly perfect destination decided on, Ben hastily gathered a few necessary supplies for a day out. The usual potions, repels, escape ropes and such. Or whatever happened to be laying around, last minute packing often left him quite unprepared.

"Well, my friend." He began, "We're off to the Hydro Electric Dam. I promise by the end of today you'll see life through a whole new perspective... And hopefully a few miles above ground!" Ben chuckled, making his way toward the door.

Shelgon shuttered at the thought, though if she'd learned anything through the years in his company, it was that it was hard to change the mind of a stubborn man. And with that, she halfheartedly made her way behind him.

Hey everyone, welcome to Whale Island! I hope you all enjoy your stay, if you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to PM me. Remember to always reply in size 1 font and deepskyblue.

    .:Raine's Wildlife Park:.

    MarbleZone:

With the desire to watch wild Pokémon in their natural habitat, you venture to Whale Island's famous 'Raine's Wildlife Park'.

The surrounding woodlands block off most of the sun as a gentle breeze rolls in, greeting you by lightly kissing you on your cheek. There is little to no activity around and the dirt road is a straight forward one, with no quick turns or breaks to wander off the path.

As you continue, you step on a wrinkled piece of paper, the words 'Raine's Wildlife Park' on the front page. You instantly pick it up and find that the semi dirty pamphlet holds information for those looking to learn more before their tour begins.

You open the booklet with a few scuffled pictures of Pokémon, barely able to identify any of them due to the damaged paper. Even the paragraphs are too scratched up to make any sense of them. The only photo capable of being seen is one of the front of the park, and the words below that read '...Raine's Wildlife Park' is dedicated in providing a joyful journey to anyone wanting to witness how Pokémon live when we leave them in nature, we hope that which you see here changes your way of thinking.'

You soon step out of the woods and are startled to find before you a scene you didn't quite expect. You place the photo from the pamphlet in front of you and compare it with the structure before you, on closer exception the current state of the park looks worn down, shabby and looks like the place has been nonoperational for quite some time...the grass is unkept and many of the windows are either broken or boarded up, even the ticket stalls are all closed off.

Whatever happened here, must have happened a long time ago, this becomes even more apparent once you see the large number of vines that have all but covered most of the building.

Shifting your attention towards the entrance, you find that a pair of large gates which you suspect to be the way inside, are completely blocked off by a chain and master lock.

What you were hoping for doesn't seem to exist here anymore, but you have to wonder, what has become of the wild Pokémon that once lived here? Could they still be here? You gotta figure, why close off the gate if there wasn't anything beyond it's boarders to protect...or was it closed off to protect others from what's inside...

    .:Hydro-Electric Dam:.

    JustAnotherUser: (Pokémon declared 1/6: Joltik)

You arrive to what you seem to think is a doorway to the entrance of the famous Hydro Electric Dam located on Whale Isle. You reach over and go for the knob but realize too soon that the door doesn't have a knob, rather it has a steel plate where the knob should be.

You begin to try to pry the steel plate, trying to gather a grip on it before pulling but the door doesn't seem to want to budge one bit.

It isn't until now that you notice a tropical leaf from a nearby tree is blocking the top half of the door and when you move it to the side, you find a sign that reads 'High Voltage, steer clear!' In big, fat, bold letters, this causes you to step back a few paces and soon you notice a camera on the top right hand side, following you as you move away from it. Quite the secure building. Thoughts of security personal greeting you in a few seconds is all it takes to make you take a hasty retreat and turn back from which you came...

You consider that you've might of made a wrong turn somewhere along the way. You can clearly hear the sounds of rushing water, so you know you aren't that far off, but you have no choice but to backtrack a bit before you arrive on a dirt path that seems to lead upward on a slope towards what looks like the main building, if you want to visit the local Dam.

The surrounding forest is a bit dense, the abundance of water and electricity having made the place bloom with vegetation...it doesn't take long before your slightly unadventurous journey seems to find a flash of electricity cross your line of vision.

Flashes of light and sounds of static electricity soon prompt you to turn a corner to find a Magnemite of all things zapping electricity at a small shadowy figure on the ground.

It's hard to tell exactly what's going on here but it looks like the Magnemite is zapping on someone else's electricity for energy! This becomes more obvious with the way the rodent shaped Pokémon is laid across the ground motionless.

You could go over there and see if you can't lend a hand or you could choose to ignore what is happening and continue on your path to get to the facility.

    .:Crater Lake:.

    Connor: (Pokémon declared 1/6: Breloom)

Crater Lake is one of Whale Island's most famous tourist destinations. Renowned for its enchanting landscapes and elegant beauty.

Visibility is clear on this fine day and there are no signs of rain clouds in the sky, the sun is in full force casting a bright, warm glow over the mountain trails and woodlands surrounding you. It's even got your Breloom feeling in a chipper mood, warming him from head to toe. The sun giving him some nice nutrients that many Grass Types as himself enjoy. However, when you look at him with your upbeat smile, he turns away giving you that same, old, cold shoulder you've slowly grown accustomed to.

You don't let that get you down however and soon the sounds of the surrounding wilderness makes you forget the uncomfortable tension you and your Pokémon have.

When you reach the main body of water, there's still a thick layer of morning fog surrounding it. It seats, right on top of the surface and stretches across as far as the eye can see.

You're a little disappointed, understandably, that the morning fog hasn't completely been cleared. Which prevents you from fully appreciating the beauty that is Crater Lake...that's when something catches your eye. You're not sure at first but as you try to get a better look, you seem to spot something in the midst of the fog, some sort of strange silhouette.

You rub your eyes, thinking it might just be your eyes playing a trick on you, but no, there it is, something you don't quite recognize hovering on top of the water. Amazing and spell bounding.

You get chills when it turns around upon realizing that you could see it. If you had to venture a guess, you would think it was looking right back at you- maybe even looking past you...It's just a few feet away, all you would have to do is reach out a little to touch it- maybe speak to it?

Before you even get a chance to interact with it, you hear a scream from off in distance. A bloody curdling, crawling underneath your skin, kind of scream. It makes your hair stand on end like when you hear nails on a chalk board. You turn around instantly to try to locate the sound. Then you hear a loud thud that follows afterward, causing you to jump, the sound very similar to a punching bag hitting the floor.

You're in a slight panic, and figure that both sounds seem to have originated from somewhere behind you, soon a bit of fog gives away and you can clearly see a path that leads somewhat downward and is one of many that connect to the top.

When you turn back around to see if whatever it was that you saw on the surface of the lake was still there, you find it has long gone.

You have no obligation to stay but neither do you have any to head first in what is starting to feel like a dangerous path to take.

You could pretend you hadn't heard anything. It's not like there's anyone else around to call you out on it later if you don't go. It's not like anyone saw you. Whose to say what you saw on the lake bed was even real to begin with. M-maybe you're still sleepy...

The choice is still yours however. What you really need to ask yourself is, what would a Hero of Justice do?

    .:Pirate's Cove:.

Ex-Admiral Insane: (Pokémon declared 4/6: Wailord, Dusclops, Zubat and Tynamo)

After an unforeseeable storm had left your secret base in shambles, you set out on a journey to find enough treasure to repair the damages.

The sea air is sweet, with the temperature having dropped a few notches due to the sun descending and the moon rising up to illuminate the dark waters. Stars begin to appear one by one, dazzling the clear skies and if your eyes weren't deceiving you, a shooting star had just flown on by...

Your quite content, as your voyage with your companions as well as whale of a Pokémon Pearl crossing the gentle waves, is one with no issue and soon you are joined by a flock of Wingull flying through the air and a school of Lanturn, underwater, whose antenna's glow brilliantly - surrounding the ocean's water with a warm yellow glow.

The pleasant feeling of having nature all around you, brings a calm and soothing serenity to your heart and after a while you forget the hurry your in. You even close your eyes for a moment to take it all in, with ideas of discovering pirate treasure exciting you with each passing wave.

Your voyage feels relatively shorter then it was, as you open your eyes and spot land up ahead.

You notice however, the closer you get to your destination, that the wild Pokémon all around you slowly begin to leave. You find this strange but soon realize why- Pearl is the first one to notice the shift of the water's current having quickly changed, jerking a bit and almost causing you too lose balance, wailing in pain almost as she tries fighting the swirling and uncontrollable multiple Whirlpools that hug the cliffs of the island...you have just entered into one and you cling hopelessly to your Pokémon as water sprays you from all sides, making it a tad difficult to see. A sound of someone screaming for help soon rings in your ear and when you wipe the water from your face you spot a young women with brunette hair in a swim suit holding on to her Pokémon, Clauncher, for dear life as they try to out swim the rapids!

A ghostly chill runs up your spine once you note the sharp cliffs odd darkened red color...

There isn't much time, with the currents as strong as they are, they only have a few minutes, if they're lucky, before they get swept away and rammed into the sharp cliffs...but what can you do? If anything at all? You're also trapped in a water vortex yourself!

    .:Laguna Lake:.

Lt. BLEU: (Pokémon declared 1/6: Chinchou)

Laguna Lake is a majestic masterpiece that has been around for generations and one that attracts a great number of creatures and people that visit here.

Why, just a quick glance around and you can spot a few families picnicking around it's banks. Many trainers resting their tired, weary bones from a long day of hiking and travel while their Pokémon contently drink some nice clean water to replenish themselves.

The beautiful, clear, sparkling water even makes you want to take a sip of the the lake water. And as you guzzle down a bottle full, you begin to feel incredibly refreshed, so much so that you want a second drink.

As you do, you are suddenly surprised by someone saying, "I wouldn't drink that water if I were you." You turn around and witness as the voice of a young maiden that had caught your ears, is of that of a beautiful women standing before you.

She's a red head with her hair kept back in a bun, a pair of clear glasses seats on her button nose, she has light blue eyes and her assemble: which composes of a black shirt and knee high red skirt, with some regular running shoes, topped with a lab coat; tells you she isn't just some ordinary tourist...why, she looks like a scientist.

She carries on when it seems like you didn't quite take her first warning that seriously. "You see, the Pokémon live around here use this Lake to bath and I don't even want to think about the amount of germs it has from trainers thinking it's okay to wash their dirty socks in..."

Her last comment almost makes your stomach turn, and you instantly begin to cough, trying to spit out whatever water you consumed but as soon as she realizes you believe her...she begins to giggle, a sweet and innocent laugh that somehow makes you think she was joking.

"Hehe~ I'm kidding, the water from this Lake is actually the cleanest around." She says not realizing she hadn't quite introduced herself before, enjoying the fact she was poking fun at you earlier, "My name is Ruby, Ruby Halle, I'm a scientist around here, studying the special properties the Lake water has been rumored to have on some Pokémon and People." She says, while she bends down to collect some water in a small vile she had hidden in her coat, smiling affectionately at the Chinchou that belongs to you.

"You wouldn't happen to be interested in my findings? Would you?" she stands up when she feels she's collected enough, placing on a cap on her vile before readjusting her glasses and placing her hands in her lab coat "I need someone to assist me if I'm going to get anywhere with my research..."

    .:Hydro-Electric Dam:.

Silver Wind: (Pokémon declared 1/6: Shelgon)

With high hopes that going to higher ground may just be the trick to tap into that something your Shelgon needs to take that next step in it's evolution chain, you offer to travel with your Pokémon to one of Whale Isle's famous landmarks, the Hydro Electric Dam.

Situated near the top of the mountain, you and your Shelgon have no other way to go but to hike up. Though it may seem like a chore at first, if you pull this off correctly, the pay off will be never having to walk or hike anywhere once you have a Pokémon to fly you around. It'd even be more special for your Pokémon seeing as her whole existence has been to one day have the clouds between her knees...

The trail is a steep one and many trees dot the landscape, you can clearly hear many different kinds of birds chirping and even some Sentret that are looking to get some berries from a nearby bush. They stop what they are doing however when they spot you, using their tails as a way to get a better look and run away from you when they see your Dragon Pokémon following closely behind. Who seems to be struggling slightly to keep up with you.

You make your way into a more populated wilderness, when you begin to hear more than just birds chirping or rodent Pokémon scurrying around, however you realize soon enough that the trails aren't as devoid of human activity as you might have first thought. You begin to hear whispers of people talking...from the sounds of it, you can distinguish two- no, three different kinds of voices...they're mumbling and you can't quite tell what they're saying but that's when you catch one of them say something a bit louder- "I'm telling you, that's him! His the one we've been waiting for. I say we go on my count!"

Him? They couldn't be talking about you, could they?

It looks like you might have just hiked yourself into a trap of sorts, but doesn't this feel like a case of mistaken identity? You haven't done anything wrong, have you?

You don't know where these voices are coming from, maybe they're coming from the tree tops or they might just be around the corner ready to strike you when you least expect it...it all depends on the way you look at it.

Thank you for picking it up, EBE

“Oh, look at the beauty!” The Doctor exclaimed. There were a handful of families, picnicking around the lake with a handful of trainers as well. There were various types of Pokemon, resting and drinking water that was probably taken from the lake.

“Mm-hmm, this water is delicious, isn’t it, Casper?” The Doctor chugged down a bottle of water. The water was so sweet and refreshing, The Doctor let out a loud roar. He was delighted. “I’m gonna have one more bottle of that water, sweet Jesus, how could anything be this good!” The Doctor bent down on one knee, and started to fill his bottle. Before Doctor could finish filling the bottle, he heard a voice. A beautiful one. Although, what it said was scary. The Doctor quickly got up. “Right” said The Doctor, in a soft calm, voice. Stood in front of The Doctor was a young lady. She had long red hair that were folded in a bun and right behind her head. She had clear, blue eyes, that could be seen through the glasses that sat right on the nose. She was dressed beautifully, red, knee high skirt with a black shirt on top with a lab coat, clearly showing that she was a scientist. The Doctor anyway got back down to fill the bottle.

Seeing that The Doctor had ignored her warning, she started explaining the problem with the water in the lake. She said that there were germs because the Pokemon nearby use it for taking bath. “Eh, that’s alright, I guess?” Said The Doctor looking towards the lady. “What? Dirty socks? Out of the water you come Casper!” Said The Doctor as the lady told him about how the trainers used it to wash their dirty socks. The Doctor began coughing and smacking his chest lightly, trying to spit out all the water that he had consumed.

“Why are you laughing? You think it’s funny that I consumed dirty water?” Although, soon The Doctor realized she was only joking. “Oh, you evil little human! How dare you?” Said The Doctor in a playful tone. The Doctor got up and went close to where the lady was standing.

The lady then went on to explain that the lake was the cleanest lake around and that she was only kidding. “Right, I was wondering how such a beautiful clean blue lake could be dirty.”

“Oh, let me help you with that?” Says The Doctor as he sees the Lady bend towards the lake to fill up her vile. She explained how the lake has some mystical properties as she affectionately smiles towards Casper. Casper in response turns on his lights.

“Oh, you need help with your research?” Said The Doctor as he got up along with the lady. “What do you say Casper?” The Doctor looked towards his partner with optimism. “Let’s do it then!” Yelled The Doctor taking out his non – functioning sonic screwdriver. “Will I get a coat too?” Said the doctor under his breath.

The walk towards the main area of Crater Lake was pleasant, albeit uncharacteristically silent. Though Ricardo would have happily been a much more boisterous existence ... Ali just wasn't having any of it. Any time Ricardo tried to interact with the Breloom, who was happily walking with him - albeit at a distance, he would simply turn away and quicken his pace, leaving Ricardo to catch up later on. This frosty tension between the two only become worse when they finally reached the main lake and realised that much of the morning fog was yet to clear. Ricardo sighed heavily as he slumped down on the grass beside the lakeside, pulling his knees up to his chest and resting his arms there.

"Man, this sucks. I wanted to be amazed, blown away, thrust into something wild."

Of course, Ricardo had never learned to be careful what he wished for. As he stared into the fog of the lake, he couldn't help but notice a rather odd figure staring back at him, although he can make out little more than a silhouette. Rising to his feet once again, Ricardo calls out to Ali, and the Breloom hobbles over towards his trainer with a grouchy expression, but this quickly morphs into one caught between high alert and shock as a scream rings around the surroundings. Both Ricardo and Ali simply freeze for a moment, stuck in time as they look at one another, both minds working as one. While Ali was certainly a tough customer, his heart was still in the right place - if someone was in trouble, he would offer his services in aid.

A thud soon follows, and the fog begins to clear, a path obvious through the once murky surroundings. One look to Ali, and the pair nod, the differences between them put aside for the moment. With little thought to the potential dangers, the pair lurch down the revealed path, determined to find the source of the sounds and save whoever had fallen prey.

Pearl had only just entered the first rapids and she was already moaning. The various whirlpools that dotted the cliffside caught the adventuring group in their hold. Water splashed them from both sides as Lucas’ inflated submarine of a Pokémon was rocking sideways, trying to sturdy herself.

“Pearl, careful.” Her trainer was regaining his balance, nearly slipping off her backside. The Wailord gave a wailing moan back. “Don’t give me that. You’re not going to tell me little old you is afraid of a some itty-bitty rapids, are you,” clearly understating the danger of the area. The Wailord gave a more cheerful bellow in response. “That’s it,” the trainer folded his arms. “Now prepare.”

The group was sucked into their first whirlpool. “We’re prepared for this Pearl, don’t let up. Use Whirlpool to traverse the rapids.”

A tiny shriek was heard, off to the side. Lucas squinted into the distance and made out a small figure of a woman and a Pokémon, something blue. Lucas hadn’t even realised it or he had already pulled out his Pokédex. Testing the limits on the Pokédex’s range, he aimed it towards the figure before the digital encyclopaedia lit up with a bleep.

The two seemed to be swimming through the rapids, trying to out speed it; and failing horribly. Lucas merely grinned. If it was this tough for regulars to get to the hidden caves, he could only imagine the treasures that would be hidden there that only he could reach with a giant like Pearl.

Another scream fills the air as the girl and her Clauncher are dragged back into the rapids. Just then, Amabel popped out of her Pokéball, excited by the commotion she was hearing. Lucas quickly grabbed a hold off her before she could slip away and disappear in the whitewash below.

    “Amabel,” he said sternly. “Careful.”

“Tyn-tin-Tynamo!” The little electric eel was excited with the sight around her. This was one of the first times she was exploring a new location. She nudged her head in the direction of the young woman, while Lucas continuously pulled back to stop her fleeing. Amabel shocked her trainer with every flailing movement, an eager smile never leaving her face as she was unaware of her static twinges. Her trainer merely let out a couple of whimpers for a response. Shortly thereafter, Faust decided to pop out of his Pokéball to lend a helping hand. A bright light flashed from his eye and immobilised the Tynamo; a Bind attack.

“Thanks Faust.” The Dusclops gave only a lazy stare at his trainer before quietly turning towards the girl in peril. He extended an arm in her direction, his finger eerily crooked when he did so.

“Yes, I see. But it’s not our problem. Just leave her be.”

The Dusclops didn’t drop his arm and instead, bent it towards the cliff. Lucas could only shrug at his Pokémon, but upon following the direction of the Dusclops’ arm, he noticed the reddened colour of the cliffs below.

Lucas eyes widened and he gulped. “Yeah, well..”

The Dusclops slowly dropped his arm and stared solemnly with his dark red eye. The Tynamo gave a small yelp and struggled in her place when she saw the cliffs as well. Lucas exchanged repeated glances with his Tynamo and silent Dusclops.

    “But…”

    “…”

    “We should…”

    “…”

    “…fine”

“Pearl, girl!” The Wailord gave a cheery whistling tune. “Use Whirlpool to swim in the opposite direction and slow it down. We’re still going for the caves in the cliff ourselves.” He removed a coil of rope from his backpack and tied one side to Dusclops’ hand. The other end he tied to a Twisted Spoon that lay forgotten in the bottom of his backpack. He twisted the rope around the Tynamo’s body and knotted it. Lucas wasn’t happy about this. He had bought the [B]Escape Rope[B] to find his way through the caves. Now he had to waste one of them on someone else. “This girl had better be worth it.” ’And cute,’ he grinned to himself mischievously.

“All right, you two,” he stated to his Pokémon. “Amp, this is going to rely on you and you’re electromagnetism. Both of you know Levitate, so you should be able to float above the water at least for a while. Have the girl hold onto the rope, then Amp..Amp!” The Tynamo gave a chirpy ‘Tin-Tynamo’, as she wasn’t paying attention. This had better work. He glanced at his Dusclops who gave a quiet nod of understanding; he was going to keep an eye on the Tynamo.

“Amp, use Magnet Rise to lift yourself. Faust, Mimic and repeat Amabel’s move. Make sure to get a grip on the rope. Don’t worry about Amabel’s end slipping off. The Twisted Spoon might magnetize to her body. Now go you two,” he shooed them away.

Last time Frinth had visited, a group of Suicune worshippers had flocked around him, and he had felt threatened by their approach. Their cult-like garb and mannerisms had done well to raise his guard, and to intimidate him thoroughly.

Had he been older, as old as he were now, his curiosity would’ve gotten him to play along, and to fulfill whatever tasks they had for him, no matter the cost. However, someone had rescued him, and he had the chance to flee with the old man. At one point, he also possibly had a bit of a battle, but his memory has proven hazy over time. Nevertheless, he would come back to have another shot at the same old location, and even hope for another encounter with that shady cult.

He wondered how much they might have changed. Have they changed as much as he did? Have they changed even quicker? Have they even changed at all?

Either way, one who worships pokemon as deities would have entailed very skeptical opinions from people, and they were definitely no exception to Frinth.

A Treecko gladly followed Frinth, and another Vanillite Floated about. Both had translation gear, produced straight from the frozen citadel.

“Back here again, are we?” Trick remarks.
Trick was the usual wise-cracking type, yet he also tries to respect his leadgin companion as much as possible. He was familiar with how his companion easily felt left out by a friend he felt was losing, and he made sure he stayed by his side in some sort of consolation. Meanwhile, his stride became a little more cautious as he went closer to the effigy. He wasn’t sure if the cult was nearby.

“Yes, we are. Once again. And we are more prepared to deal with anyone as appropriately as possible this time.” Frinth replies.
“Let’s simply hope for the best, then. We’ll make sure to keep them in our sight. If ever we do find them.” Trick takes a defensive stance.

    - Well this is unexpected...

Raine's Wildlife Park should, by all accounts, be completely different from the rundown, neglected structure that stood before him. To call this a disappointment would be a colossal understatement. How was he supposed to enjoy the local wildlife if the one place nearby dedicated to preserving it had been abandoned?

What a spectacular waste of time...

Gale Windsor, inexperienced as he acknowledged himself to be, was for the most a level-headed young man. He knew when to give up and when to keep going, and always tried his best to avoid acting on instinct... but that was on every other occasion when he was trying to be a "Trainer". Right now, he really just wanted to have some fun. And no key and lock were going to stop him!

Nobody's going to care if I peek inside. With any luck, the wild specimens will still be inside, even if just a handful of them... And who knows? Maybe there's a story behind the Wildlife Park being closed down. Yeah... no way I'm turning back!

He approached the main gate with understandable apprehension. It could be that the facility simply wasn't making enough money to cover maintenance costs and had to be shut down... but there was also the possibility that something inside the park had gone awry. He kept telling himself he was nothing but a birdkeeper, never had a battle in his life and wouldn't know how to fight his way out of a paper bag... so what should he do if things got dangerous?

Heck, none of my birds are even strong enough to break these chains, nor skilled enough to pick the lock... I do have someone with me that's been my lifesaver ever sine we met. Why he puts up with my incompetence is still beyond me... should I keep relying on him all the time? But honestly... do I even have a choice?

Dejected that he always had to resort to the same Pokemon to get anything relevant done in his travels, Gale whispered an apology for bothering him yet again and tossed the Safari Ball in his hand to the floor. With a powerful flash of light, a massive Goodra materialized, and greeted the Violet-native with the warmest smile Gale had ever seen anyone wear. He'd really been blessed to run into this gem of a Pokemon.

    - H-hey Rhadamanthys... yeah, I kinda... need your help. Again. I'm so sorry!

The Goodra looked at him, puzzled. Why did his Trainer always apologize so much? He loved helping out, didn't Gale know that by now?

    - You see, I need to get inside. And there's this heavy gate here, with a lock on it... the rest of the gang can't do anything about it. Maybe you could muscle your way through? Y'know, break down the door with a Body Slam or a Power Whip?...

Rhadamanthys looked at the locked gate and turned to Gale inquisitively. The silver-haired man had no trouble picking up Goodra's hesitation...

    - Yeah. It's illegal. Still... could you?

The Gooey Pokemon tilted his head slightly, intrigued by his usually-righteous Trainer's shift in behavior, but quickly nodded happily in agreement. There had to be a good reason for Gale to be breaking rules, and he was excited to find out what the motive was!

As Rhadamanthys approached the gate and prepared to force it open with his boundless power, Gale found himself lost in thought.

And to think this was the same Pokemon whose blind rage destroyed my entire team when he was under the Rift's control... He's not just the strongest creature I've ever seen, Rhadamanthys has a heart of gold too. To think there are humans out there who can turn even someone like him into a deadly weapon... I'm just glad I could rescue him. Though if that foreigner Kamui hadn't stepped in, I'd probably be dead at this point. I really do have to learn my way around. I can't keep depending on others to do my work for me! I need to be stronger, for Rhadamanthys' and everyone else's sake!

He'd try his best to get his mind off troubles and enjoy his impromptu, forbidden trip across the closed Wildlife Park - provided Rhadamanthys could get him inside, that was. But once the trip was done, he promised himself he'd work harder than ever not just at bird catching, but at actual fighting... even if the very thought of battling made his stomach turn.

    .:Laguna Lake:.

Lt. BLEU: (Pokémon declared 1/6: Chinchou)

Your request for a lab coat goes fundamentally unheard, but your interest in her research doesn’t.

“Please then, allow me to show you something.” Ruby leads on, with you and your Chinchou tailing right along behind her, stopping only when she reaches a directory which had a map of the whole lake and it’s surroundings.

“You wanted to look into my research correct? Why don’t you take a look at this first.” She motions you to approach the screen, noticing that its a special sort of screen that allows you to scroll through an abundance of info on the lake and the lake’s history. You flicker you finger, and swipe right, until you land on a particular article, the header in bold letters reads: ‘Laguna Lake’s Last Chance?’. The date is also noted to be more then 20 years old and a picture that accompanies it, of a lake much different from what you see here today.

“Lake Laguna, has been a natural preserve for Pokémon and people alike. People have come from all walks of life to enjoy the sprawling beauty of the lake and it’s inhabitants making it their home...but for serval years now, the water has grown dirty, the creatures that once lived in harmony have become incredibly ill and there’s a question whether it’s humanity’s fault for not taking care of what beauty nature brings to life.”

Below, you notice a few more pictures: plants withering from terrible conditions, a number of Pokémon having gotten sick from living in and drinking the lake’s water and of an almost empty local. The lake even looks much darker and dirtier then the blue sparkle it has now.

The lake has suffered from a number of pollutants and has been impaired by algae, including a number of other contaminants. There is but one single hope that might bring Whale Isle’s once famous lake back to it’s former glory, today – 12, FEB, 20XX a press conference was held in front of this very lake by a scientist meeting with the lake committee, promising to fix all the problems the lake has been burdened with as of late. Whether she can bring light to this dark abyss, only time will tell.

At the near bottom of the page is left but one more photo, a picture of the women that brought back the beauty of the lake. You do a double take, looking at the photo then back at the Scientist. Ruby Halle had certainly a resemblance to the women in the picture but considering the date, it couldn't have been her. Unless of course she was a time traveler or somehow had found the Fountain of Youth.

“My mother was the leading expert on restoring this lake back to the way it was. Now you see why I was collecting my sample earlier, this lake,” she paused before looking towards the expanding body of water, “It’s what connects her to me, and now there are rumors of the lake having healing properties. It’s like the gift that keeps on giving, you know.”

After a brief moment of silence Ruby turns to you, with a look of someone that just had a wonderful idea. “This is your first time here, isn’t it? I was going to make my usual rounds around the lake, it would be fun to show you around and you can help me with my research like I asked you before, you can even take a look at the system my late mother created.” She pauses before going into a little more detail, “It’s a system that helps clean and maintain the water in it’s natural state. There’s three total, so, I’ll let you pick the first location.” She then walks back to the touch screen directory, pushes a few buttons and brings up the map once again.

You look at it, noting the three areas she was speaking of earlier.

The first is a part of the lake that is nicknamed appropriately ‘Wetlands’. From what you can tell it’s covered with many plants, including water lilies and lily pads. The second location is called ‘Duck Park’ and is on the far right, where a small inland is covered in trees, the only way over is by a single bridge connecting it with the mainland. The third location is called ‘Lotus’, the name is exactly what you see on the picture where a number of lotus plants are dotting the water. There was also a number of other facility around, such as the Lake’s Office, a Boathouse and a Storage House. Finally, a statue of the Lady of the Lake – Laguna, seats at the end of the lake as it’s guardian.

“So, have you decided where you wanted to go?”

    .:Crater Lake:.

    Connor: (Pokémon declared 1/6: Breloom)

Your body virtually moves on it’s own and despite the obvious distrust your Pokémon may have of you, it seems clear as day that the two of you are on the same train of thought, as you both jump into action without even a second of hesitation.

The trail is a steep and dusty path to take. It winds down like an endless serpent’s body hunting for it’s prey to an almost impossible to see destination, as a thin layer of fog still obscures your line of vision slightly. You try to slow down, concerned with the harsh turns but forget all about safety when you are reminded that someone is in direr need of help and quickly speed up your pace for a quick descent.

Firmly on ground level, you notice right away the deafening silence, even more eerily, the stillness of the air.

The surrounding tree’s are almost motionless and their leaves look suspended in time with no wind blowing anywhere. Whatever your thoughts might be at this moment, they are soon brought back by yet another sudden scream! It rings louder and more desperate to you this time, which means you might be closing in on the source.

Both of you follow the sound to an open clearing. Your eyes soon fall on a young blonde women, wearing what looks to be a bright orange Ranger Uniform. She’s on the floor, kicking the ground to distance herself from a dark cloaked individual in front of her. Her right arm is bleeding profusely, which she’s holding with her left hand. Her skin is pale as snow, which might be a sign she’s lost too much blood already.

She’s too preoccupied by what she’s staring at to notice you. In fact, it isn’t until the cloaked individual, whose body is completely covered from head to toe in what looks to be a dark trench coat, dark pants and black combat boots; looks up with a mask of their own, that resembles a mixture of different Pokémon’s faces woven together- that the women looks back, a bit relieved that someone heard her cry for help.

“Well, looky what we have here. The prominent hero finally shows up! And just in a nick of time too! To save your damsel in distress! Have you come to play with me as well?” the individual says, their voice sounding almost robotic, staticky and if you weren’t mistaken a tad echoey before they start to chuckle an eerie laugh.

Hero? He must be mistaking you for someone else...though, with your flashy costume and mask you can see how they could have arrived at that conclusion.

It’s said that when two highly skilled fighters are sizing up their foe, all they need to see is a single stance of their opponent to envision what their next move will be. If that were true, you can easily read your opponent preparing to go for a dash attack; aiming to give you a quick jab to the right of your ribs!

The cloaked person rushes at you, clearly intent on testing exactly what you got as a fighter!

Meanwhile, it seems your Breloom catches a glance of something shimmering on the cloak freak’s person, it’s sharp and stained with a red substance...before your sidekick can do anything about it, a Sludge Bomb is hurdled from one of the many trees surrounding him! Both of you only have a second to react!

    How do you respond?

    .:Pirate’s Cove:.

Ex-Admiral Insane: (Pokémon declared 4/6: Wailord, Dusclops, Zubat and Tynamo)

The weather was not your friend, the picturesque scene from moments ago was all but forgotten by the violent riptides and increasing harsh winds. Some darkened clouds begin to swirl together, blocking the sun entirely and as luck would have it, it starts to rain and suddenly it’s pouring!!!

You have Pearl use Whirlpool, matching her own swirling water against the oceans. Her’s are going in the opposite direction and soon the two swirling waters collide, causing them to disappear almost instantly! She does this a few more times, with water spinning out of her mouth, clearing a path for her to swim across. Allowing your group to get closer to the edge of the island.

While at the same time, Dusclops and Tynamo try working together to save the girl that looks to be swimming much slower then she had been previously. The strength of the tide is definitely pushing them to their limit, with her and her Pokémon growing increasingly more tired with each passing second.

Dusclops floats out into the air, trying to maintain as steady as possible for Annabel to pull the rope ahead, trying to get close enough for the girl to grab hold of.

The girl catches on to your plan and uses her left hand to grasp the Escape Rope you cleverly thought to use. She clings onto the rope beginning to climb onto it with her partner holding on tightly right behind. Her expression is one of gratitude and Dusclops seems even relieved that he no longer foresees the shadow of death upon them, until...

While climbing on to the rope, the rope snaps! And the girl screams, holding on to her Pokémon partner, Clauncher, as they both begin a free fall back to the rushing water!

Annabel acts on her own and pushes the young girl and her Pokémon on to the giant Wailord, while Dusclops’ expression quickly changes. His single eye no longer calm, instead it’s angry and beady, looking around frantically as if searching for something in the water!

The weather couldn’t have cut the rope clean as it did...which meant that someone or something cut the rope on purpose, but who? And how can anyone see with the weather as it is?

That’s when Pearl gives a loud groan as if she were in pain and begins flailing uncontrollably, nearly tossing everyone over board.

You don’t understand, at least not right away but you check your Wailord from all sides and find she’s being Bitten by two Carvanhas on both sides of her fins! And as if things couldn’t get any worse, your Dusclops spots the one responsible for cutting your rope earlier...

A single sharp fin emerges from the depths before jumping out of the water where a clearly pissed off Sharpedo shows it’s ugly mug! It’s angry that you helped it’s prey get away but looks like it’s giddy pink that you’d be so willing to allow a Wailord to enter their territory.

To say you’re in between a rock and a hard place would be putting it mildly...and it doesn’t look like the Sharpedo or its cohorts are going to allow their next meal to escape so easily this time.

    What will you do?

    .:Suicune’s Effigy:.

Coolz: (Pokémon declared 2/6: Treecko and Vanillite)

Looking at the skillfully crafted statue reminds you of a time long passed. A time...when you were much younger and your mind was vastly more innocent. What you feel taking in the masterpiece is whatever you make of it. Reminded of a pervious journey with people with malice intent. Questions of whether these individuals still existed or have changed brings questions to your mind. Those thoughts soon interrupted by another question-

“Magnificent, isn’t it?” a deep and raspy voice speaks loudly to you, catching you by surprise.

The voice came from a much older gentlemen standing a few feet from you, looking quite intently at the statue.

Had he always been standing there?

He wore a comfy looking - though somewhat discolored green coat over a buttoned up white shirt, with brown over sized slacks and matching slippers. His clothes looked old with some tattered holes in them. His hair was practically snow white, from what you could see of it anyway, as he had a matching cap covering his head and you notice he was maintaining his balance with a cane. The helm artfully crafted in an image of a Swanna head. With all the wrinkles on his face and patches on his skin, you estimate him to be in his late to mid seventies.

When he speaks again, he doesn’t look at you directly, still in awe of the presence of the statue... “I used to want to meet this Pokémon. I had chased many leads in my youth, any clue or sighting, even a whisper or a rumor – I was there in a heartbeat. I never got close enough to cornering it...though, there was just that one time.” The man paused, this time looking at you straight in the eye, the color of his eyes a piercing shade of icy light blue – on an even closer inspection, you notice his pupils are almost pure white.

You can feel his gaze, but soon come to the conclusion, this man was blind! What’s more, you notice a puff of blue feathers sticking out behind the elderly man’s leg, accompanied with a yellow beak on the front. Was this Pokémon, the old man’s aid?

“Piplup?” The Penguin peeked it’s head out, looking at you and your partners Treecko and Vanillite cautiously.

“I saw it once. For a brief moment, before I lost my sight. The way it moved, it may be a Water Type but the sheer level of elegance, it’s beautiful appearance and it’s running grace, why, I’d say it could be an Ice Type if it wanted to! Haha!” The old man chuckles, he’s laughter a cheerful one, reminiscent of a time long forgotten. Still, there’s a hint of sadness mixed in there as well...

“Those were the days...” He sighs heavily, before looking up at the statue. Even though he was blind as a Zubat, you could feel the old man was truly envisioning the cold piece of marble in front of him, “but those days are also over.” He says to you with an even heavier heart.

He places his hand on the cool stone, silent for a moment and closes his eyes as if saying a silent pray - one contained in his heart before he slowly moves away from it. “Lets get going darling.” He speaks softly to his Pokémon Piplup, who makes sure the elderly man doesn’t trail off the path leading towards a small town nearby.

“If you want to hear more of my story, why not come visit me at my cottage? It has been a long time since I’ve entertained any guests. I’m sure if your a fan of Suicune like I am, you’ll enjoy hearing my encounter with it.” He waves to you before departing.

The old man seemed kind, though somewhat odd...this did present a somewhat unique opportunity. Would you be willing to take up the old man’s offer to learn more of the Pokémon behind the statue? Or do you decide, to look for something else to do?

    .:Raine’s Wildlife Park:.

    MarbleZone: (Pokémon declared 1/6: Goodra)

Goodra takes a running start, using it’s whole Body to try to pack enough of a punch to Slam down the gate. The gooey Pokémon makes use of it’s natural slim to make itself slide faster, giving a stronger impact then normal. The gate budges slightly, one of it’s hinges coming loose in the process, but it still wasn’t enough to give a proper opening. Prepared for this, Goodra takes a step back before striking with yet another move- a Powerful Whip that packs enough gusto to not only allow you entry inside but knocks one of the doors on it’s sides completely!

The door slams onto the ground, with a big *thud* and a cloud of dust that follows soon after. Nervously, as if you’ve done something wrong, you look around you to see if anybody saw or heard what you had just done. Soon reminded that the vicinity was clearly devoid of anyone around.

Goodra smiles back at you, hoping it’s done exactly what you’ve asked of it. And while thankful for it’s assistance, you wonder if it might’ve gone a tad overboard...

You step in, nervously. Quite unsure as to the reasons for the parks closure. As you pass the large gates with your Pokémon partner next to you, you feel a rush of adrenaline course through your veins. This isn’t something your personality would normally allow you to do, but, having come so far already, what’s the harm of a breaking the rules a tiny bit?

You pass through some rotating stalls, ticketless of course. And find a few scattered pamphlets laying around the ground. Deciding to pick one up, in hopes the guide can inform you in what the park was once like. You press on, opening up the booklet and notice a few areas of interest.

You’re standing in the front of the parking, where a gigantic rotating sphere with multiple rings spin in different directions. The mechanism is probably one you’ve seen around before and find the working contraption odd at first, considering that everything was meant to be abandoned- even the electricity that once ran the place but on closer exception you take note of the ‘Solar Friendly’ sign which might have put you’re mind at ease.

Further up are a few strategically placed Gift Shops, in hopes to entice those that pass by on their way in and out of the park. Passed that, in the middle was set to be the grand unveiling of a special kind of ride that the park had planned before it’s closure. A virtual ride that took people on a wild ride through a prehistoric adventure- Aerodactyl’s Chase! On the left, down a set of escalators are a bunch of Restaurants scattered about, including a water ride, featured as one of the few aquatic themed locals- Mantine’s Flight! Next to it, is an aquatic museum which you have to go through before reaching the famous Wailord’s Marine Show stage!

On the far end, on the right side of the virtual ride is the parks number one attraction- Raine’s Wildlife Experience! Dubbing as a natural preserve and covering 1/3’d of the park, the park would take its patrons on a Safari-style Tram, visiting many of the facilities of Pokémon rescued throughout the world! If a Pokémon found a trainer worthy, the trainer would then have the opportunity to battle with it to see if it could be taken home with them. Only one Pokémon, per trainer, per visit was allowed however.

With so many choices, it’s up to you to decide where you would like to explore first. Of course, many of the parks areas might be drastically different from what the descriptions of the venues used to be.

As you think of your options, Goodra soon points to something you have failed to notice you had been standing on all this time. Graffitied on the cement floor, in big red bold letters seemed to be a warning: “When the lives of Pokémon are out weighed by profit or for the entertainment of people, only one thing remains. Pain.”

And who knows, you might even uncover the mystery behind the closure of the park yet...

Where would you like to go?

    What will you do?
The weather above opposed Lucas as much as the waters below. As Lucas issued his commands and set Pearl to wipe out the whirlpools, dark clouds began to form above the party’s head and pretty soon, it started pouring rain, drenching the group. As much as Lucas complained about the weather, it didn’t stop him from continuing with his rescue plan. From atop the Wailord’s back, Lucas looked on as his Dusclops and Tynamo levitated towards the girl and her CLauncher, both of whom were now swimming slower and slower as they got sucked towards the sharp cliffs.

It seemed the girl understood Lucas’ plan as she quickly got a hold of the rope and used it to pull herself towards the Wailord. Her Clauncher quickly followed after her and soon the two of them climbed and were but a few paces away when suddenly the rope snapped. The girl screams and hols onto her Clauncher for dear life while Lucas could only stare in mild shock at seeing the two head for the rapids below. Amabel quickly zips in and dives towards the two.

“No Amp!” Lucas calls to her, worried she’ll only get sucked into the rapids herself. “Stu-“

The Tynamo emerged safely, and more along, managed to push the girl and her Clauncher onto Pearl. Lucas gave a quiet sigh of relief

“You all right?” Lucas instinctively asked the girl, only to quickly walk away afterwards with disinterest. He didn't like having to get too caught up with others and their affairs when he had his own agenda. He went up to Faust who was surveying their surroundings ever since the rope broke. The Dusclops must have thought the same as he did; the rope couldn’t have just snapped on its own. Both of them suspected foul play and looked through the downpour at the turbulent waters below but found nothing.

That’s when Pearl trembled and gave off a painful wail, shaking everyone off of their feet and nearly off of her back.

    “What is it girl?”

    “WAAAIIIIILLL!” she moaned in pain.

The trainer peered over his Pokémon’s side only to find water splashing wildly by her fins. Vaguely, Lucas could make out a shadow causing the splashing but couldn’t tell what it was right away. He took out his Pokédex and aimed the retina towards the thing, banking on the possibility it was a Pokémon.

On its own, however, this Pokémon turns suddenly timid.
’That can’t be good,’ he thought, ’if they have the strength to chew through boats they’ll certainly be able to harm Pearl.’ But before Lucas could even so much as act on the two Carvanha, Faust tapped his shoulder and pointed towards a dark patch of water heading their way. The shadow closed the distance between them and a fin protruded from the water’s surface before leaping into the air with the rest of the Pokémon attached. Lucas turned and aimed his Pokédex at their new attacker.

Just one of these Pokémon can thoroughly tear apart a supertanker. Sharpedo can swim at speeds of up to 75 mph by jetting seawater out of its backside. This Pokémon’s drawback is its inability to swim long distances.
The Pokédex was enough to explain the situation; the group must have swum through the Carvanha’s territory and instigated them. Lucas was a bit annoyed at his circumstance and felt there was little point in trying to properly resolve the dispute. First thing he understood was the Carvanha’s cowardly nature. This wasn’t a fight against three opponents, it was against two. All he had to do was knock out two, maybe even one of them, and the remaining Carvanha would chicken out.

Lucas veered towards his party, pointed at the Sharpedo and shouted. “That’s the one! That’s probably their leader. We’re going to focus on him. Pearl!”

    “Waaaiiillll.”

“Head for the whirlpools but don’t break them this time.” The second thing the Pokédex told him was that while Sharpedos were fast, they had low stamina. Lucas was hoping to weaken it by having it swim against the whirlpools’ current. Hopefully Pearl could still hold her own in them though. “Faust,” Lucas focusses on his Dusclops, “try to slow it down. Get to the back of Pearl and switch between Confuse Ray, Ice Beam and Brain Freeze.” He clearly had no idea which move would have worked best on the water/dark-type. Ice moves were known for having a slowing effect on Pokémon but water resisted the typing.

“Waaaaiiiillll!” Pearl moaned, drawing attention to the fact that she was still under attack and would have trouble moving.

’Right.’ That only left the Carvanha to deal with. “Amp. Mal.” He called their attention with quick short names. “Focus on the Carvanha and knock them off of Pearl.”

“Tin-tyn-tin,” Amp shouted excitedly before darting down the Wailord’s side.

“Amp, wait!” he called out to her. The Tynamo stopped and looked surprised at her trainer. Lucas recalled the Pokémon’s special ability Rough Skin; a trait that hurts those who make physical contact with the Pokémon. “Stay your distance from them. Use Charge Beam (Amabel) and Giga Drain (Mal).” Mal nodded, understanding, and swooped down Pearl’s side to focus on one Carvanha. Amabel still looked quizzically at her trainer, not fully comprehending the reason for the orders, but nevertheless she soon swept down Pearl’s other side to focus on the other Carvanha.

Finally, Lucas looked over the girl and her Clauncher, remembering the Pokédex’s info and what it said about the interesting new Pokémon. “You,” he pointed to her unfriendly, “if you want to be of any use then use your Pokémon to keep those Carvanha away. Your Clauncher can fire compressed water like a gun, can’t it?”

    .:Seaside City:.

Missingno. Master: (Pokémon declared 4/6: Sneasel, Beedrill, Meowth and Tentacruel)

The old man smiles softly as he reaches for your hand and grabs hold, "I'm counting on you Keith!" He says as you pull him up to climb onboard your aquatic partner. Aquarius uses two more of her tentacles to reposition the gentlemen in place and prevent him from falling over to the smelly and disgusting sewage water below.

Commanding your Pokémon to surf you guys out of the tunnels, Tentacruel nods and pushes itself off of the embankment and swims at an incredible speed! Meowth helps with navigating through the tunnel as his charm flashes a brilliant light on the concrete walls, illuminating the darkened space. Allowing you to see the network of pipes that run from the ceiling to the walls and then to the water.

At first what seems like a single path, making constant turns with no choice in the matter, brings you to a large clearing on the other side. Where the water is pouring out to the open ocean, and with fresh air slowing rolling in. Excited to finally get out of the wretched underground, Aquarius races faster to the exit having gotten quite nauseous from the dirty water she was forced to endure, despite being partly poison in type. Without warning she takes a giant leap, landing on the sea's surface with a big splash and feeling quite relieved.

Meowth who held his nose for most of the trip also exhales a sigh of relief as the wind gently greets him and all those present. Everyone is content to have left their current situation, all but one. The old man looks greener than the sewage water from before and when asked what's the matter, the gentleman simply points to the horizon looking quite shaken.

On the horizon you can make out five ships, with the one leading the pack in the middle, much larger in size than any one of them. What's more, you can make out military grade weaponry on board and a logo of a Zapdos on the side of the ships, taking flight.

"They're here..." the old man mutters, "We're too late..." quickly recalling what the army did by causing Cinnabar Island's Volcano to erupt in order to eradicate the glitch Pokémon from existence!

Whatever you were thinking about at that critical moment is soon interrupted when you hear a piercing scream, followed by a familiar screech above on the cliff side.

There is trouble brewing above ground where the cities' harbor is stationed but in front of you there is a bigger threat heading towards the mainland. What will you do, it's not like you can be in two places at once?

    .:Peili Harbour:.

    Aposteriori: (Pokémon declared 1/6: Tangela)

Tangela can't relay to you the reason's behind it's heated exchange with the strange Pokémon, but as it's trainer, all you can do is back up your companion no matter if he was in the right or not.

Flynn starts off by surrounding itself in orbs of energy, tapping into a hidden power that it is all too familiar with.

The orbs glow white but soon turn a shade amber, like the flames of a fiery hot Pokémon. The contrast of a Grass Type harnessing the power of Fire causes the audience to 'Ooo' and 'Ahhh' in response.

Meanwhile, Helioptile seems a tad distracted by looking for something or possibly someone within the crowd, logically you first thing it to be it's trainer. Alas, the electric desert lizard doesn't spot them and without realizing it allows your Grass Type enough time to let loose a dazzling display of lights that home in to the designated target!

Pummeling the Electric/Normal Type, the damage is minor from what you can gather, while not super effective, the move did provide some much needed knowledge of the Pokémon's ability- which by analyzing the situation, found it not to be 'Dry Skin' for if it were, the damage received would've been largely significant.

Down but not out, the lizard gets up to it's feet and slithers it's way threw the crowd, causing some commotion and questions on whether the Pokémon was taking any orders from someone around.

At blinding speed Helioptile manages to conceal itself within the group of people watching the battle, before launching off a thunder shock from a different direction from which it entered, making it difficult to pinpoint it's location. Tangela's vines act like little lightening rods, which draws in the move, shocking and frying him considerably!

When it looks like Flynn has figured out where his opponent is, he up and throws his vines into the crowd. Which causes quite the uproar in the group of girls in the vicinity who all squirm and scream when they feel something slimy touch them...

For a moment, there was silence, and when Flynn looks like it's got something wrapped in it's clutches, he pulls back his vines only to come out with nothing but air.

Your Pokémon seems perplexed when Helioptile suddenly reveals itself in front of him and in a blinding display open's his frills and flashes a bright light, disorienting Flynn, you and the on-lookers around.

Just about when you try to readjust your eyes to focus, you hear a slight chime of a bell and witness an electrical current that makes your hair stand on end.

With a little more clarity in sight you are surprised to see your buddy Flynn is sent flying backwards towards a nearby corndog stand! Slamming its back and denting the cart!

As the dust settles, a green orb of energy gets absorbed from your friend to Helioptile, who looks raring to keep going.

The crowd looks ecstatic by the electric exchange and while your Tangela got a few punches in, he is far from being in the lead. How would you like to respond?

    .:Pirate’s Cove:.

Ex-Admiral Insane: (Pokémon declared 4/6: Wailord, Dusclops, Zubat and Tynamo)

“Y-yes!” the girl eventually manages to blurt out, accepting your request to help out in such a sticky situation but as she held on to her Clauncher, you notice that the Water Gun Pokémon wasn’t as forthcoming in gratitude. In fact it looked pretty annoyed by your lack of apathy before. Regardless of each’s motivation, the swimmer commands her Water Type to fire off concentrated guns of pressurized water and he listens - however the aim is way off base, whether it’s due to the lack of understanding, the distance or wind, the water isn’t directly hitting its mark, instead the water strikes the rocky cliff side of the island, just directly in the middle from where the girl was about to be skewered alive moments ago.

Leaving that aside for now, with your orders given out, your Pokémon all nod and go into action.

Annabel and Mal, your Tynamo and Zubat both take to the large Wailord’s respective sides. Annabel to the left and Mal to the right. Each with the task of diverting the leader’s underling’s attention long enough for Pearl to follow through with your second stage of attack…

Annabel goes on the offensive and charges a focused particle beam of electric energy at her foe, staggeringly the Carvanha to let go of the large whale’s fin. However, due to the rain and water all around, the electrical attack didn’t just hit the Savage Pokémon…you soon see a spark in the air and for a second all of you get shocked by a minor jolt of electricity! Be that a lesson to you, water conducts electricity and if you are a glutton for punishment you’ll receive even more if you aren’t careful next time.

Mal also succeeds in draining the life out of her opponent in a giga way. The move not having the shock value like Annabel’s did, still did the job in weakening the other Carvanha’s efforts just enough to have Pearl wiggle out of its clutches.

That doesn’t seem to stop them completely however and both piranha Pokémon seem to have settled on taking a bite out of your Tynamo and Zubat! One has Mal by her right wing, threatening to rip it off, while the other has Annabel by the side of her body.

Meanwhile, it’s a race against time as Pearl gets closer to a large whirlpool on the edge of the island, Faust floats to the back of his companion’s back and tries to confuse the bully of the sea, with a blinding array of colors that goes fundamentally unseen…as the Sharpedo dives into the rapid waters before the attack can take complete effect!

Your ghost continues to watch the water, its single eye following the shadow of the jet fast shark…it was only a matter of time before it jumped out from under there and when it did, Faust was fully prepared in attacking with everything it had! Yet, Dusclops’ eye seems to tell a different tale and soon you realize why...

Under the water, the shadow of the shark seems to have multiplied!

And when they come up, there are three Sharpedo’s chasing you all down!

Faust concentrates and sends an icy cold beam directly at the Sharpedo to the center, the attack shattering the clone of the doppelgänger! Leaving two to contend with. There’s more, the icy move also caused a pillar of ice to form on top of the ocean’s surface. What you notice soon enough on the shiny surface of ice is a shadow of a man looking at the battle unfold, standing on the edge of the jungle. Like how even a window can sometimes act as a mirror, you turn to where the shadowy figure could be and look towards the island only to find no one standing where you thought. You look back at the pillar of ice and see the image of the man had also vanished.

Maybe the weather and stress are getting to you, but all that mattered was trying to get your plan to work. As you look back you note both sharks begin swimming in unison as they mirror each other’s actions, jumping in the opposite’s direction and vice versa. This was no ordinary foe, this is one highly skilled Sharpedo!

Faust relays in what you said before and takes a guess on which of the two might be the real one before letting loose his brain freeze custom attack! A cold chill emits from his breath and floats out through the air, like the soulless frost from the underworld, the move makes contact to the Sharpedo on the right, revealing that the one to be the real one! The Shark’s tough skin becomes covered in an icy sheet.

You haven’t succeeded in slowing your pursers down in the slightest, Pearl is only a few feet away from the Whirlpool’s and with her large body she’ll be there in almost an instant. What’s the plan now?

Keith nodded at the old man as he climbed aboard Aquarius. The Tentacruel used but a few of her numerous tentacles to hold her passengers in place before speeding off through the smelly, sludgy sewage. Meowth aided navigation with his Flash move, and so they carried on through the sludge and darkness. The path was a simple one, relatively straightforward, with no branching paths- Aquarius needed only follow the same pathway, take its many twists and turns, before they finally exited the sewer. Everyone present was relieved to be out of the particularly rancid sewer and back out in the open- even the Tentacruel, despite her type, had been rather bothered by the stench.

"Ahh," sighed Keith, taking in the fresh air. Stench generally didn't bother him very much, but this had been starting to get to even him. But before he could enjoy the fresh air too much, he saw that the old man looked as green as a Gulpin. "What's wrong?" Keith asked. By way of a response, the old man pointed to the horizon. Keith turned and followed the man's gaze, and saw exactly what was wrong.

Ships. Five of them, led by one very big one. All of them were loaded up with military-grade weaponry, and bore a Zapdos logo on their hulls. The old man spoke up in horror to confirm what Keith had already begun to fear- that the military had arrived to eradicate Missingno., much as they had done on Cinnabar Island- and very likely, Keith realized, with just as little regard to life in general as they had done last time. This realization horrified and enraged the Poison-type Trainer, and to make matters worse, a sudden commotion from back at the harbor told them that Missingno. must surely be fighting fit once more and ready to wreak more havoc in the name of misplaced anger and vengeance.

"...Oh, crap," Meowth whined. "Wat do we do?! We can't take on da freakin' military!"

"We don't have to," Keith argued. "Meowth, you're right, that'd just be suicide. No... We gotta talk that Missingno. down, show the military they don't need to kill it."

"Do we got time fer dat?" Meowth argued. "Dey're gettin' close!"

Keith nodded. "That they are," he agreed. "So... we'll have to stall them," he stated.

"Oh, is dat all?" Meowth rolled his eyes. "And how do youse propose we do dat?"

Keith did not answer right away, having produced a Poké Ball from his belt. With his free hand, he tweaked the brim of his Mega Hat, ready to take action. He pressed the button on the Poké Ball, bringing it to its full size. "Chuck," said Keith, tossing the ball into the air. "I choose you!"

In a flash of light, the grinning Gengar materialized. Said grin faded slightly upon seeing the approaching armada, and so he looked back at Keith. On his head he wore his headband with the Gengarite set into it, the Mega Stone gleaming in the sunlight. "What's all this?" Chuck asked. "What do you need?"

"Time, Chuck," Keith stated. "And as much as you can get us. Think you can keep those ships from getting closer?"

"How would I... oh. Ohhhh," grinned the Gengar. "You mean-"

"Oh, I mean," Keith grinned back. "What do you think? Will Shadow Tag do the trick?"

"It's hard to say," Chuck stated. "Certainly it works on multiple adversaries at once, though if said adversaries are military ships, I'm not quite sure if the same principles apply. I fail to see why they wouldn't, of course, but even so, it'd be a poor move on my part to make any promises."

"Can you promise you'll do your best?" Keith asked.

At this, Chuck's grin widened. "I think you already know the answer to that."

Keith's grin widened as well. "Yes, I do," he nodded. With that, he gripped the brim of his Mega Hat. "All right!" he declared. "Chuck, let's do this! Emerge from the shadows, and make those shadows yours to control!" And he swept the Mega Hat off his head and held it up high. "Mega Evolve!!" he bellowed.

Chuck laughed heartily as the Key Stone set into the Mega Hat resonated with his own Gengarite, and the Gengar was filled with immense power. The transformation was incredible, and before very long, Chuck had assumed the intensely strong and formidable form! "Yeah!" the Mega Gengar exclaimed.

"Now, go!" Keith grinned. "Keep those ships at bay and evade capture as best you can! And with that, Chuck was off, speeding towards the armada. His goal was to keep himself in the shadows as best as possible, for he could hide out within them, manipulate the shadows however he needed to, and evade capture in that way. If he was forced to fight, his plan at the moment would be to cast a Dazzling Gleam and then retreat under cover of the magical flash, maybe resort to Hypnosis if it came to that. But above all, he knew he had to keep his Shadow Tag in effect on all five ships. A tall order, to be sure, but Chuck could tell that this was a mission of vital importance, and so he intended to give it his all.

"I hope he can do it," Meowth murmured to nobody in particular.

"OK!" Keith said, now addressing his Tentacruel. "Aquarius, get us to shore so we can go back to town and reason with Missingno.!"

"Tentacruuuel," nodded Aquarius, all set to get them as close to the commotion as she possibly could. As she did so, Keith took a Poké Ball off his belt, gripped it tightly. He felt it shake- it was either his hand shaking, or the ball's occupant shaking. And make no mistake, the second one was a possibility- if Myrtle was able to taste anything even close to similar emotions to those of the man who murdered her, then surely that Banette was seething in fury. Completely understandable fury, no less. And Keith sought to solve this problem, ideally in a way that would go better than Cinnabar Island. Was it a dangerous idea, trying to reason with a ten-foot-tall beast that routinely went on murder rampages in a big city? Absolutely. But this wouldn't be the first time Keith risked death to do the right thing. He only hoped it wouldn't be the last time.

The entire area is a haven for water Pokémon with even the mountain craters filled to the brim, the abundance of water sports and holiday travel locations ensuring the time you spend here is never dull.

    Northern Beaches
Unless you're travelling along the Hydra River, the northern beaches tend to attract the wealthier crowd due to the fact the small beaches lining its shore have been purchased privately by those who have subsequently built properties by the water. Some of the rarer water and electric type Pokémon can be found along here, but if a wealthy beach owner finds you trespassing on their land there may be some unpleasant consequences.

    Areas:
Raine's Wildlife Park: A nice spot for a family day out, Raine's Wildlife Park is open to visitors who are interested in seeing some of Whale Island's native Pokémon without having to venture too far themselves.
It was no secret that Tim loved Pokemon. He liked all kinds, from the cute ones, to the not so cute ones. With his mom being a Pokemon Doctor, and his father being a professional breeder, he grew up learning to see the beauty in many different kinds of Pokemon. So, naturally going to Raine's Wildlife Park sounded like something right up his alley. Tim was looking foward to seeing the naitive Pokemon roaming free. Maybe he'd see something he had never seen before. Maybe he would be allowed to take something back home with him. Tim would be happy just to be allowed to pet something. He was so excited thinking about the possibilities, that he didn't seem to mind waiting in the long line just to get into the park.

Paris the Snubbull on the other hand was less patient than his trainer. He started making a fuss when he got tired of just standing there. "Snubbull! Snubbull!" He started shouting, and running around, to make the fact that he was bored obvious to everyone. Some of the others waiting in line started to get intimidated by the Snubbull throwing a tantrum, and they gave Tim dirty looks. As if to say, "Please control you're Pokemon!"

Tim was interupted from his thoughts when he heard his Pokemon making face. He bit his lower lip, and cringed when he noticed all the people giving him dirty looks. He always hated being the center of attention like this. Especially for something bad. "Um... sorry..." He mumbled, and scooped up his Fairy type Pokemon into his arms. "Ssh, it's ok..." He whispered as he gently stroked the Snubbulls head. "I'm excited to go in there too, but we can't be making a fuss, or else other people will get upset. We'll be in there soon ok. Just be patient."

At least for the moment, Paris calmed down, and smiled brightly. "Snubbull!"

The southern regions of Whale Island are known to be beautiful grassland with rolling hills and grazing Mareep by the thousand, as well as vast forests protected by the Whale Island Conservation Society. Some unapproved logging has been taking place recently, however, causing much stress to both the WICS and the local wildlife, prompting the Pokémon to show higher levels of hostility toward trainers and picnickers alike.

    Areas:
Cascade Waterfall: The largest of a series of waterfalls along the Blitz River, the Cascade Waterfall is by far the most amazing of them all. Walking trails lead up and down either side of the falls and through the surrounding bushland, making it a lovely place to visit on anyone's itinerary. Wild Pokémon have become accustomed to the number of people visiting here and can sometimes be quite friendly.

Kawaii rushed after her pokemon partner. Frieghya the Espeon was happy to be on an adventure for the first time she evolved. Her trainer was happy too,of course, but she was also desperatly trying to keep one of her newest pokemon on her shoulder without him spilling hot wax onto her. Spiritus the Litwick was desperatly holding onto his trainer's shoulder as they dashed up the path to the waterfall.
The light pink pokemon stopped and closed her eyes as she reached a paticularly sunny spot. Her opal forehead jewl glinted and a sense of calm filled the area.
The pink haired trainer panted as she caught up to her companion. "Good gracious Frieghya, I know you are excited but slow down." Kawaii remarked, still out of breath.
Frieghya rumbled with laughter Sorry, Kawaii. I lost control there for a second. You do need the excerscise though. the Espeon comented telepathically.
The female trainer regained her composure and stood up straight. She adjusted the ghost-type on her shoulder before speaking, "I get that. I am quite excited to explore this area too. I heard they have quite the large population of Mareep here and I am quite looking forward to catching one."
The pink-ette thought bitterly of the mareep she had missed out on ealier in the year and vowed to herself to not leave this place without a female Mareep to be dubbed Peeram. It was partially because she really liked the Mareep evolution line and partly because of a famous trainer from Jhoto who posted her journeys online. This trainer was also the reason for her owning a Sentret named Don't Touch Me and a Heracross named Derpulese.

Kawaii had other reasons for coming here, obviously, she desperately needed more water type pokemon to add to her party. Water and electric types were two of the female trainer's favorite types so she was very eager to get more. Finally, Kawaii hoped that her pokemon could earn some well disserved levels here. Especially Spiritus who was one if the newest additions, and so was only level 1.

Kawaii walked with her pokemon up the path towards the waterfall and the fields. While they walked Spiritus was deep in thought. He was eager to meet the friendly pokemon said to live here. Sure, he wouldn't mind a sparing match or two as long as no one got seriously hurt. Lastly, Frieghya was just plain eager to spend more time outside and to show off her brand new form.

    Central Plains
Mostly fertile farmland there's not much here for your average tourist or trainer although a few areas of interest do attract the more adventurous trainers. Electric Pokémon thrive out here and are often found roaming the fields. Better beware though, they're not all that fond of trainers getting too close to their young so take a wrong step and you may find yourself on the wrong end of a lightning bolt that hasn't come from the sky.

Crater Lake: Atop an extinct volcano, its crater is now a freshwater lake and home to many wild Pokémon. A travel lodge awaits weary visitors who have trekked up the mountainside, where they can rest their weary bones and have a bite to eat. Some say ancient Pokémon reside way down deep inside the throat of the volcano but nobody has been able to verify these stories.
It was hot. Tate was sweaty. The backpack hanging from weary shoulders felt like it weighed a ton. They had been hiking for hours. It would have been easier to just go to the goddamn beach, but Kahakai didn’t like to heed her limitations to begin with and she had yet to learn what they even were when it came to her new body. The unpredictability of the sea was an idea that made the trainer nervous until they were both more aware of just what it was she could and could not do, and so here they were, trekking all the way up the side of a mountain just to visit a placid, rain-fed lake where there couldn’t possibly be any surprises. Right?

Kahakai was exuberant, running ahead of Tate by several yards. Every few minutes she’d stop and allow her trainer to close the gap just enough so that they wouldn’t get separated, before bolting off again. This was the best she’d felt in her life, her slick body moving like a knife through the air, every inch a piece in a well-oiled machine. Though her bad hip was still hip, it didn’t hurt like it used to; a fact she took full advantage of by leaping and bouncing off of every rock and bump and hill and stump, panting and barking joyously. Tate laughed along with her. Life was good.

When they finally crested the summit, the sight was beautiful, water spanning across the entire width of the mountaintop. The Vaporeon immediately took off towards the lake, but Tate yelled after her, firmly.

“Ah, ah! No you don’t!” The tired young ecologist admonished, scowling. Kahakai slowed, reluctantly, and turned to look at Tate, though she kept walking at a sideways gait. What a stubborn little *****. Celebi be praised, Tate loved her. “Wait for me, please.

They walked to the lake edge, and Kahakai had the decency to wait for Tate to unpack the backpack. After the blanket was spread, the picnic lunch opened, and a significant amount of water chugged, Tate dug out some casual digging equipment from inside the satchel; the tourism brochure had mentioned ‘ancient’ Pokémon, which Tate took to mean fossils, and so the budding scientist hopped to dig up a few fragments of something or other while Kahakai played in the water.

“Stay close,” was the instruction to the Vaporeon, who didn’t need to hear anymore. At a full sprint, she bolted for the water, splashing mightily as she hit the surface.
