Default The Glacier Islands - The Arctic Zone

    The Glacier Islands
    The Arctic Zone

A chain of islands made up of enormous glaciers set deep in the Southern Ocean. The weather is extremely harsh and if you're not careful you could freeze to death in an instant. It's so cold that even with increases of a few degrees, temperatures will generally remain below the melting point of ice (0°C or 32°F). A relentless and unwelcoming terrain, people rarely ever set foot here before the discovery of precious metal ores buried deep within the ice. Since then, as the mining industry has grown, so too have people's general interest in the region. This influx of people has resulted in the discovery of areas nobody previously knew existed as well as Pokémon that are rarely seen in warmer climates. These discoveries have led to stories of strange and wonderful places, and as word spreads more and more people are visiting the Glacier Islands. Perhaps the most surprising, and as yet unfounded, story about these glaciers are the rumoured reports of a secret area where a mysterious and very strong Pokémon resides, sleeping deep within the ice. Whether there is any truth to it or not, this rumour has attracted Pokémon trainers who now roam the Glacier Islands in search of this mystery area.

    The Polar Region
Once covered by an ice sheet the polar ice caps are made up of many icebergs and glaciers, some more habitable than others. Icy islands, frozen forests, chilly caverns, and much more are providing people with plenty of reason to explore. Recently, a number of settlements have risen as those who wish to explore the area more thoroughly have set up for long-term stays.

    Areas:
Alpha Station: A research base set up on a large iceberg near the main mining colony, Alpha Station is the largest of the research stations in the polar region. Data collected from the other research centres in the region are sent here for examination.

The Icy Wastelands: A dry region of little rainfall, extreme temperatures, and sparse vegetation. No sand here, only ice and snow for miles and miles. Not the most ideal place for a holiday but whatever floats your boat. Some Pokémon roam these plains but for the most part take the surroundings into their personalities; cold, harsh and deadly...

The Settlements: The native Eskimo's have settlements all over the Glacier Islands so it's quite possible you'll stumble across one of them during your travels. Some locals are more tourist friendly than others, so don't always be expecting a friendly smile from the Glacier Island natives.

Terror Mountain: Sitting in the centre of the Glacier Islands is an iceberg of monolithic proportions known only as Terror Mountain. Taller than the highest of the Arctic Alps, many rumours abound of a ghost town set somewhere within its icy ranges but due to the avalanches common to this mountain no one has ever returned to verify its existence.

Snowstorm Isle: A large glacier, once a calm and passive island, is now constantly ravaged by snowstorms which keeps most travellers at bay. Many wonder why the sudden change in weather conditions, but few dare brave the raging blizzards in an effort to find out. Sometimes, if you listen hard enough, the roars of a creature can be heard. Is it only the wind, or is something else out here?

    The Southern Ocean
The Southern Ocean is cold, harsh, and unforgiving. Below freezing temperatures make these waters a haven for some Pokémon while keeping most at bay. These waters are said to hide many secrets, some of them ancient, with few people brave enough to explore their depths. Pokémon activists are often found scouring the seas to stop poachers intent of catching and killing some of the rarer species, including whales, which are a protected species in this region. If you're daring enough to challenge these seas, you may encounter more than you'd bargained for.

    Areas:
Epsilon Station: An underwater research facility you'll need a Pokémon with Dive if you're wanting to visit here. Mainly used to study the marine life, it may be worth your while to visit if you intend to try exploring the vast southern seas.

Glacial Palace: A palace carved from a large iceberg. Despite having been deserted now for hundreds of years, the ice had never melted. People flock here intrigued by the meaning behind this place, asking questions that may never be answered.

Banshee Island: A mysterious island permanently shrouded in a thick fog. Due to the low visibility in the area sailors steer clear of it at all costs. When the water is perfectly still, with not a single wavelet lapping at the side of your boat, a piercing wail can be heard emanating from deep within the fog sending a chill up the spine of even the most seasoned sailors.

The Abyss: A seemingly bottomless chasm protected by a thick layer of ice. You'll need some special equipment before even attempting to explore its unfathomable depths.

Magnetic Island: A lone glacier, one that continuously sails around the Glacier Islands, never leaving it's course. Mysterious....

    Crystal City
Crystal City is a technologically advanced area located in the central area of the Glacier Islands where many trainers find refuge from the harsh surrounding environment. Despite the fact it is surrounded by minus zero temperatures, its advanced technology ensures the climate never falls below 10°C (50°F) within the city limits. It has many attractions including Pokémon battle arenas, Pokémon shops and a hotel for weary travellers.

    Areas:
Beta Station: A research base where adventurous trainers can obtain a quest or two from the researchers stationed here.

Ice Hotel: Carved out of the glacial ice itself, even the decor is sculpted from ice. Surprisingly warm inside, this fancy luxury igloo is definitely a place to stay for at least one night for the experience alone.

Residential Area: The residential area of Crystal City, the homes here are a mixture of natural and man-made materials. Most residents are happy to chat with sightseer's, and will often offer advice in regards to the hazards as well as rumoured stories about the Glacier Islands.

Ice Arenas: An area of Crystal City devoted to Icy Pokémon Battles. Tournaments are frequently held here.

Crystal Port: The drop-off point for the city's supplies, some of the more curious wild Pokémon can be found here looking for a feed from the sailors and cityfolk who are passing through. More friendly than the majority of the wild Pokémon in this region some even find their way onto the boats owned by the locals, most of whom don't mind the invasion.

    The Arctic Alps
A beautiful snow-capped mountain range. Far more dangerous than it looks, the Arctic Alps are a challenging area to travel. Avalanches and storms are common, and the Pokémon fierce. The Delta and Zeta research centres can be found somewhere in these ranges, their locations kept secret causing many to wonder what kind of research is so important that it needs to be kept hidden. Hmm...

    Areas:
Frozen Temple: An old, seemingly forgotten temple. Icy winds whistle through its corridors sending a shiver up the spine of those brave enough to enter its hallowed halls.

Tranquil Lake: Within the Arctic Alps lies a peaceful, quiet lake covered by a thin layer of ice. Tranquil Lake is heavily surrounded by enormous trees which keep is secluded. It is rumoured that within the lake lies ancient creatures who haven't seen the world for centuries.

Pine Wood: The eerily silent Pine Wood has pristine snow conditions which attracts many trainers and tourists alike. The most charming feature of these woods is often considered to be its enormous pine trees; it truly gives this wood the feeling of peace and purity. This place is perfect for young rookies to adventure... Or is it?

Forest Lodge: A hotel located near to a hot spring. Spend a night or a week, Forest Lodge is a comfortable rest stop for those weary from travelling.

Ski Resort: A ski resort located near to the top of one of the tallest mountains. You'll find more tourists than trainers here, but there is a Pokémon Centre if you're wanting to make use of its facilities.

    Snowy Oasis
An oasis in the icy tundra of the Glacier Islands is a large glacier that for some unknown reason is spared the same extremely harsh weather conditions as the rest of the polar region. Being far more habitable than the rest of the region, people flock here as it is a wonderfully pleasant area to explore. Snow is common here and while the mountains are nowhere near as tall as the Arctic Alps they've certainly attracted a lot of attention from developers who have already built two ski resorts. Snowstorms are rare in this area, but those that do occur are fiercer than most.

    Areas:
Oaktree Port: A small but busy port area with a few warehouses and a couple of rows of storage sheds. Sometimes wild Pokémon can be found scrounging for food.

Eta Station: A research base dedicated to gathering and studying samples taken from the local terrain as well as its wildlife. It's not uncommon for trainers to be recruited to perform various tasks for the researchers stationed here.

Aspen and Pine Resorts: These two ski resorts, each named after the trees that surround their respective locations, are situated on the pristine white slopes of two of the tallest mountains in the area. A prospective third location, Cedar Resort, is in the planning stages, but there is much opposition to the idea from locals and resort staff alike.

Snowflake Village: A pretty little village started by early explorers who fell in love with the local climate and wildlife. The recent influx in mining and tourism has seen the village grow in recent years. Whether you're passing through or planning to stay a while, the local tavern offers cheap rates to suit your needs.

Frosty Cavern: A gaping cavern located on the mountainside, the entrance concealed by a plantation of fir trees making it hard to find unless you're looking for it. The plentiful stalagmites and stalactites that form this place causing the entrance to resemble the mouth of a monster's ferocious roar; not unlike the sound that occasionally reverberates throughout its icy halls to send a chill up the spine of those who hear it.

    The Glacier Mines
Set just east of the island chain is a huge glacier, so large that it sits sealed to the ocean floor. Enter at your own risk but be sure to bring something warm as it'll get way below freezing as you move further down into the winding tunnels of the icy caverns. Some trek here hoping to find a nice stone to make into jewellery, but others have an ulterior motive as somewhere deep down in the deepest depths of the Glacier Mines is a special area where some extinct as well as new species of Pokémon reside. Searching for them will be hazardous enough, but even then there's no guarantee you'll find them.

    Areas:
Gamma Station: A research base dedicated to studying ores dug up from the ice, Gamma Station isn't the most interesting of places to visit unless you're really into Geology.

Orion Mine: This mine is by far the largest of the three Glacier Island mines with tunnels forking off in so many directions it'll be surprising if you don't get lost. It is not advised for trainers to enter this mine at all, let alone by themselves, although many do due to the abundance of Ice Pokémon who have settled in to make these icy tunnels home.

Corvus Mine: This mine is only half the size of it's neighbour, the Orion Mine, and has far less twists and turns making it much easier to navigate. The miners certainly won't stop curious trainers from looking around, but don't expect them to welcome you with open arms as they have a dim view of people trekking through the tunnels alone and unsupervised.

Hydra Mine: The newest of the icy mines, this mine is by far the deepest as the miners have been ordered to dig as deep as they possibly can. Not too interesting for trainers unless what they're looking for is really, really old.

The Abandoned Mine: The original mine shaft, this mine has long since been abandoned. Stories abound of unexplained accidents and a terrible tragedy that led to this mine being boarded up and sealed permanently several years ago.

Stacey had a knack for choosing harsh environments to travel to and this one sat atop that pedestal as the harshest. She was wrapped in her warmest winter wear which consisted of dark blue skinny jeans tucked into knee high black fur boots, a long sleeved black top under a thick burgundy fleece lined jumper. Completing the outfit was a thick white coat with the black fur-lined hood pulled over the wearers face and a burgundy scarf. She stood still staring at a city in the distance her boots nearly full amerced in the snow. It took a lot of strength not to shiver under her layers of clothes but the Pokemon next to her looked well at home. The Froslass floated back and forth every now and then scooping up snow and throwing it into the air dancing underneath as it fell.

"I'm glad you're having fun" Stacey said managing a smile. This was not her choice of locations, Eve had been cooped up in Daycare for months and since she had been out she had not had any fun. She let Eve choose where to travel to and being an Ice type she chose somewhere she'd feel most comfortable. The two of them finished their scouting of the environment and began to walk towards the lone habitation in the snow covered land. The snow became easier to walk through as they neared the city and Stacey's eyes widened as she took in the beautiful buildings. It was a sight to see for sure. The buildings looked clean and crisp and she could see the technology used here was was very advanced many pieces being items she had never seen or could ever dream of.

They felt the temperature rise to a more comfortable level as they entered the city and Eve pouted, she had enjoyed the cold; at least it wasn't too warm! They both looked around and saw various places to visit including a gorgeous looking hotel carved out of ice, what looked like a laboratory and a side road that lead to a residential area. They soon found themselves heading towards what was signposted as the Icy Arenas. Intrigued, they approaches the arenas and Stacey found herself smiling brighter. It had been a long time since she had a battle with her Pokemon, she couldn't recall if Eve had even had a Pokemon battle apart from the assist she gave her others years ago when she was a baby Snorunt.

"What do you think to checking out these battle arenas, maybe there's competition or tournament we can enter together." Eve nodded her head tinkling laughter of excitement coming from her. They both walked towards the arenas looking for a good challenge.

Chad disembarked from the ship. Although he was on a cargo ship, the captain did allow a small number of passengers if they agreed to help with some of the chores. "So this is Crystal Port. It would figure that to find a place Mom and Dad have yet to see, I'd have to travel as far south as the Glacier Islands," he said as he walked down the ramp. At the bottom of the ramp, the ship's First Mate greeted him.

"Welcome to The Glacier Islands. This is the port of Crystal City," said the First Mate. Chad began to take off his heavy coat. "Don't be fooled by the mild temperatures here. The wonders of technology keep the temps in the city well above freezing. If your plans take you out of Crystal City, be sure to stay warm." The First Mate extended his hand to Chad. "On behalf of the captain, I'd like to thank you for your help in the galley." Chad nodded and shook the First Mate's hand.

Chad turned and started walking down the pier.

Fiona and her Purrloin slowly walked through the very snowy oasis, barely making out anything due to the blizzard. Black, her Purrloin, tried to make out any shelter in the blizzard. "Gosh...It's c-cold in here..." Fiona muttered under her breath. Black rolled her eyes and then continued searching. Fiona continued walking in the deep hole when she thought she saw a house, but it was a rock. "Gosh...are we gonna make it...?" Fiona asked, and Black slapped her in the ear. "What did you do that for?!" Fiona stubbornly asked. Black pretended to look innocent and then went back to searching. "I'll send you to obedience school someday, I swear...". Fiona turned her head saw a bundle of fir tree's in the distance. Black pointed to the fir tree's and made a couple of gestures. "Black, do you suppose we could use the trees as shelter for a bit?" She asked, and Black nodded. As Fiona headed to the fir tree's, obviously eager. When she reached them. Black got off and began cleaning herself with the fir tree's leaves. Fiona let out a breath of relief, and leaned against a tree, which instantly fell over. "Woah... root's must of been loose." Fiona said a second after catching her breath. But then she saw Black eagerly pointing behind her, and as she turned around she saw a deep cave that could go on for miles. The entrance was covered in stalagmites and stalactites that resembled a monster's head in a way. Black and Fiona looked at each other, nodded, and headed in.

Ellen was ready. Her first adventure in years, she had been dying to visit and explore a remote and strange region for a long time, like a 'proper' trainer. She let her Bayleef, Mangrove, out; it was the first time the pokemon had ever been in an exotic and wild location like this. Mangrove stamped her feet a little and snorted at the sudden bite of cold air on her feet and nose, but forgot all about it when she looked around.

In front of them stood the frozen temple: something Ellen had only dreamed of exploring a few years ago. Both looked up in wonder at the old, magnificent building: the columns coated with threads of ice, the huge entrance, adorned with strange stone carvings of letters from an ancient, unknown language and pictures of weird and wonderful pokemon that she'd never seen. Icicles hung everywhere, glinting in the weak sunlight, adding touches of sparkle to the old, cold building. The temple spires added an overall sense of regality to the place.

It was deathly quiet and freezing cold: Ellen was already wrapped up in her warmest layers. She felt sorry for her Bayleef, but the creature seemed unbothered by the cold for now, as she stared in awe at the temple, and then proceeded to nose at the weird white stuff (snow) all around her.

"Shall we go?" She asked her companion excitedly. The Pokemon nodded in response and they proceeded up the icy, crumbling steps.

Hugo shivers in the cold as he wanders into the wooded area. He looks up and sees the sun buried from the tops of the enormous evergreens. A peaceful snow falls, gently grazing Hugo's face.

"So calm. Just what I needed. This seems like it could be a great place to clear my head."

Hugo wanders a bit more, finding a small stump. He brushes off the snow and pulls a sandwich from his bag and begins to eat.

After he has finished his sandwich, he curls into a ball on the stump.

    "So cold...so...peaceful," Hugo announces.

He begins to doze off among the trees. Krabby popped out of his Pokeball, the typically tropical Pokemon shivering in the cold. He notices Hugo's sleep, his face beginning to turn a little blue. Panicking, Krabby grabs Hugo's leg with a Vicegrip. The trainer quickly awakens with a jolt of pain and leaps into the air. Realizing he may have just been saved from death, he looks to Krabby.

    "Krabby...you saved me..."

    *click click*

"It's so cold. And so quiet. Is there anyone else out here?" Hugo hears his voice echo through the trees. The duo wander off into the wooded area, slowly investigating.

The bitter arctic chill in the air that Andy had felt on his journey here seemed to dissipate almost instantly amongst the bustling crowds as he walked through the streets of Snowflake Village. His head turned this way and that to take in all the scenery. It had certainly been a while since he'd felt such a part of society.

"It would certainly be nice to rest awhile," Said Andy to himself, as he had a habit of doing, "and maybe stock up on some supplies."

As he walked he passed a small tavern, the door suddenly swung open as people came and went, and with it came the sounds of laughter and bustling conversation, and the enticing smell of ales and warm food.
Suddenly Andy felt that his bones ached and his stomach rumbled more than they ever had before. He didn't even remember walking in until he found himself standing at the bar.

Leaning over it slightly and trying to catch the attention of one of the staff he asked loudly over the other voices, "Who do I see about finding somewhere to stay for the night?" A thought suddenly dawned on him, "I don't have much money though, so i'm not looking for anything fancy. And if you'll allow it, i'd be more than willing to work off what i'd owe."

Myrrh felt like he was in his element. He rather enjoyed the cold and especially enjoyed snowy weather, so much so that he often dresses slightly lighter than most would. He foolishly did the same as he started to make his way out, but quickly saw how cold Mother Nature could really get and put on some more clothing to get warmer. Though he still seemed to be equipped a bit less than the others he has seen...

Myrrh looked at the vast white surrounding him as he started to make his way towards the Tranquil Lake alone. He did not think it wise to bring out his pokemon until needed so as to spare them the cold touch of Mother Nature he was experiencing.

The supposed peacefulness of the lake is what drew Myrrh to it, but he hopes that things aren't quite too peaceful during his stay there...

Mike, wrapped up in all his clothes after braving the snowy weather outside the walls, made his way through the Crystal City. Shaking off the snow he threw his Pokeball into the air releasing a small Pokemon. He picked up his faithful Abra and placed him atop his shoulders. The small psychic Pokemon sat atop his trainers shoulders trying to get the rest of its 18 hours of sleep. The trainer had taken refuge in this City to escape the harsh surroundings in the Glacier Islands. Mike was amazed at how the City could remain at such a tempertaure despite the current climate.

As the trainer walked through the vast streets, a small building caught his eye. The sign read *Beta Station - Helpers wanted* . Mike stood and stared at the building, he nudged his partner. "What do you think Abra?" said Mike, the sleeping Pokemon woke with annoyed look on his face, "Don't be like that, you've been sleeping for hours, cmon". The pair went towards the building wondering what adventures await them.

Ice Hotel: Carved out of the glacial ice itself, even the decor is sculpted from ice. Surprisingly warm inside, this fancy luxury igloo is definitely a place to stay for at least one night for the experience alone.
    "This is, like, sooooooooooooo cool!"

Charlotte skipped into the glamorous and mystifying Ice Hotel (with both Flare and her newest addition to the team Topaz safely withdrawn inside her Poke Ball, of course), marvelling at the beautifyl ice sculptures and ice furnitures. It was just like an igloo, but made out of ice instead of snow, and far bigger as well as more elaborate. It was even warmer inside - not that it was very cold outside, no, but this was even warmer. Although she was only staying here for a couple of nights, she wanted to be here forever (well, maybe not, it would be too boring for that).

Charlotte wished that Flare and Topaz would be able to witness this wonder, but Flare would probably melt up the whole hotel in one second (not that Fire-Types were allowed, anyway), and Topaz would probably freeze to death the moment she touched the ice. Pity, Charlotte thought.

Catching sight of the reception desk, she made her way over to it and ringed the bell, humming a song softly.

As Asuka and her Espeon, Murasaki, stood grounded on the small snow dusted island, they couldn’t help but both be mesmerized at the monolithic size of the iceberg facing them. Even though the glacier was close to a mile away from where they were, it still consumed nearly the entire horizon. The sharp peaks and steep ledges seemed to be piercing the cloud-filled sky as heavy snowfall was apparent near the top. A shiver quickly ran down Asuka’s spine as she prospected the potential exploration of climbing the bleached crag. Although Asuka had heard of all the things happening inside the Crystal City as well as through the area’s mines, not being one in particular for social interaction with other humans she ruled out most of the other options. The kind of adventure of adventure she preferred had to be exciting; an experience only she would be able to stake claim to – Terror Mountain was perfect.

“What do you think?” Asuka questioned her Espeon. Murasaki had never really left the protection of the daycare before, so the prospect of climbing something so terrifying intimidated him a little. Although this was, he could sense the excitement in Asuka’s voice so he gave an approving nod. So, together they headed into town to hitch a ride over to the foot of the glacier.

Close to an hour later, Asuka disembarked the boat a resident was kind enough to transport her with. The chilling wind hardly affected her as she basically wrapped herself from head to foot in warm clothing, including a scarf to cover her face and a toboggan to warm her ears. She wasn’t quite accustomed to below-freezing weather, so whatever she could do to make her journey most comfortable she would do. The kind man who provided the ride divulged the story of the abandoned town rumored to be set somewhere within the mountain’s depths, which had made Asuka even more electrified about the journey the two would make. So, without further ado, side by side the human and Espeon took their first steps into the ridges and gradients of the mountain's base.

"I'm here. Finally..." Levin looks up to the sky. "Such.. freedom."
He tapped the single Pokéball on his belt. "Minccino... this is the first day of the rest of our lives."

Levin wore a thick red overcoat, black gloves and a Silk Scarf. Yes, it was meant for Minccino, but it was a heck of a lot warmer inside a Pokéball and she didn't mind lending it - however fashionable she seemed to think she looked when she wore it. Min didn't seem too fond of the idea of beginning their journey on the Arctic Zone. She was a fan of fireplaces, pillows and everything cozy and clean, and the perspective of spending the next months - years, maybe - dealing with sub-zero temperatures clearly didn't sit well with the chinchilla. But Levin insisted; he had his reasons. Ultimately she complied, as he knew she would.

He looked around, taking in the scenery. For such a cold place, it was just as lively as he had heard. Crystal City's port was filled with ships dropping supplies, tourists and vendors on the docks. The air was chilly, but never too cold in Crystal City. The same could not be said of its surroundings...

"If we can survive and grow strong
here, no place on Earth will be too harsh in the future. The ice world of Glacier Islands will witness the rise of the greatest Pokémon Trainer in History!"

But first things first. Getting acquainted with the place was the top priority for the moment. So, where to start...

Connor had just arrived at Snowflake Village. Unlike the last time he went on an icy area, this time Connor was prepared for the snowy environment. Accompanying him this time was Foster, his recently adopted Shuppet who was floating around looking around the village. Connor figured that he should give Gaspard a break and let Foster out and about for an adventure. The one thing that didn't change however was Connor's lack of sense of direction.

"Eh...? Snowflake Village?" he said as he opened up a map of the Glacier Islands, "Whoa! I went further away from the Arctic Alps? I thought a took a left turn at that fork! Did I?" Connor remarked at how far away he is at his destination once again. He sighed at his predicament once again. Foster just laughed at him. "Shushushushu!" Connor just looked at Foster, "Yeah, this happens a lot to me Foster, you better get used to it... Oh well, might as well stay here for a while since we're here anyway!" to which Foster agreed, "Shu-Shuppet!" With that, Connor and Foster approached a small tavern, hoping to find a place to stay. "Excuse me, is there anywhere here where I can find a place to stay?"

"Star! Star!" The small bird chirped from inside the bag.

"I know you're cold but this is for the best. We are not only here to become better fighters but to strengthen ourselves physically and mentally."

"Star..." Jordan sighed as he dug his way deeper into the bag.

Tyler stared out over the baron landscape. He looked around but besides the small trail now barely visible behind him, all he could see for miles and miles was snow and ice.

"Think about it! If we can make it out here then we will be ready for almost everything! Were here, might as well try to find something." he said as the two wandered of into the empty landscape in front of them...

Ice Arenas: An area of Crystal City devoted to Icy Pokémon Battles. Tournaments are frequently held here, but no fire types are allowed to enter.
The Glacier Islands would probably look like a dragon tamer's worst nightmare. Its harsh and cold environments already test the limits of most living organisms, and dragons in particular are known for being almost allergic to ice. But Balmund knew better, and this area was precisely the kind of challenge he was looking for to further strengthen himself and his pokemon.

He wasn't a stranger to such a cold climate; the Ice Path wasn't too far away from his native home at Blackthorn afterall, but that didn't mean he was particularly fond of it. Within the limits of Crystal City however, it wasn't nearly as bad. Balmund always wondered just what kind of sorcery was taking place but somehow the temperature was actually likeable and even his dear Seviper, Orchrist, brought herself to venture out of her pokeball and slither right next to him. Probably more than any of her kind, Orchrist absolutely hated cold temperatures. Balmund always thought it was due to the draconic heritage from her father, but this place was something she could tolerate; it's the magic of technology.

There are many things worth of interest within Crystal City. Spending a night or two at the luxurious Ice Hotel for instance was something Balmund was certainly not going to pass up. But he didn't come all the way here on a mere vacational trip, the Ice Arenas are what he had been aiming for all along. He had trained much for an event like this and he would give his best along with his strongest Pokemon to figure just how far his skills would take him. For him, a victory here is something to forever brag about.

"All right, Chris," Balmund turned to his faithful friend, "lets check out exactly what this place is all about."

The snake pokemon hissed in approval, her body filling itself with battle-lust as they neared the icy battledome.

This place is perfect for young rookies to adventure... Or is it?

"This place is perfect for young rookies to adventure... Or is it?" I said out loud as I read the brochure. "Yah, if you don't mind the cold!"

As I looked at my cherry red hands, I was starting to get a feeling that I made a mistake to come to this hellish mountain. What was I thinking? I'm freezing my *** off! At least Machop is warm in his Pokeball. With my hands stuck in my armpits to try and warm them up, I tried to look for a little bit of shelter since it was close to dinner time. It was snowing very hard at this time, so visibility was low.

After wandering and falling down a few snow banks, I found a gigantic pine tree that looked pretty good. I plopped my self down. After I made a fire, I let Machop out of his Pokeball. "Chop!" He cried as he got hit with a breeze. He moved so fast to the fire, it was like he teleported. "Someone cant handle the cold." Machop didn't like the teasing and shot a look that could kill at me. "Don't worry, that makes two." After a nice filling Magikarp I cooked up, we laid down for bed.

    -------------------------------------------

We were awoken abruptly by the sound of splintering wood. I jumped to my feet as fast as I could in a sleeping bag just in time to see a tree as wide as a Snorlax collapse. After packing up camp, I walked over to inspect it and noticed that the tree was blocking a very large area of the forest. I said "Looks like we found a path to take Machop!" as we set off into the forest.

"Adventure, huh?", Cyan said to Bolt, the Ralts. "Well, we'll need some teammates - and training. These zones here seem rather large and confusing though. What do you think about we head for Crystal City first? If we can visit that research base, Beta Station, maybe they'll have some work for us, and we could even find someplace to train!" Cyan put down the Crystal City brochure, and looked at Bolt, who seemed to concur.

Arriving at Crystal City not too long after, Cyan was awed by the very modern buildings and obvious technological prowess these people had. An orientation board wasn't hard to find, and the Beta Station was depicted quite clearly; Cyan studied the way while wrapping himself in his winter coat. Even though it was warmer here than elsewhere in the Glacier Zone, the temperatures still weren't quite what he was used to, and Bolt was snuggly warm in his Pokéball. While he made his way through the City, Cyan noticed a few apparati atop the higher buildings, those adjusted the climate, or so he assumed. After a few minutes, he saw the sign he had been looking for - *BETA RESEARCH STATION: Help wanted*. Unsure of what to do, Cyan knocked on what seemed to be the Entrance door.

Perhaps the most surprising, and as yet unfounded, story about these glaciers are the rumoured reports of a secret area where a mysterious and very strong Pokémon resides, sleeping deep within the ice.
Hmm...

    Areas:
Pine Wood: The eerily silent Pine Wood has pristine snow conditions which attracts many trainers and tourists alike. The most charming feature of these woods is often considered to be its enormous pine trees; it truly gives this wood the feeling of peace and purity. This place is perfect for young rookies to adventure... Or is it?
Mountaineering had always been one of Marcelo's favourite hobbies, but he had never been to any place this cold before as he came from a place where temperatures never fall below 5°C. He was wearing a thick fur coat and woollen cap and gloves, which kind of made him look like an Eskimo, but was still feeling cold. "Brrrr.... It's damn cold here, Broly. Glad that I have you with me", he said as he stroked the fiery puppy's fur to heat his freezing hands up. They were standing in the middle of a snowy path which appeared to split into two. "Hmm.. let's try going left".

As they went a few hundred metres down the path toward the left, they came across a large forest which looked filled with Pine trees. These large conifers gave Marcelo a feeling of comfort. Somehow inside he started feeling happy about having taken the left turn. The snow cover on the path was much thinner due to the trees and the air was slightly warmer.

"This place looks great for a start. I just hope we find our way back if needed. You ready for this, Broly?" asked Marcelo taking a deep breath which then became a large misty cloud when he exhaled it into the frigid cold. Broly nodded as they strolled along the path deep into the Pine Woods.

"He...Hehe...Hahaha!" burst Brier as he watched his partner slide past spinning on the icy ground trying to gain some traction shortly before slipping himself and ending up with his head stuck in the snow.

"It serves you right you know, laughing at me..." Jitterz, who was beginning to enjoy his little ride on the ice, buzzed in retort.

Pulling his head from the snow, Brier looked out towards the Wastelands which made the eleven, maybe thirteen miles they had walked from the port that mourning. The duo had decided to head from the town to where they saw the sun touch the horizon. They were sure that they couldn't get lost due to the flat nature of the plains, but issues with navigating the ice had cause Brier to lose city of both their destination and where they had started, this with the fact that Brier was a poor navigator and never completely prepared left them in what was sure to be a life threatening situation. He had heard that the place was dangerous was beginning to see why it was considered so.

"Ten-hundred Hours," Brier said looking at the clock on his Pokedex, "Four hours and we'll try and find out way back Jitterz. That alright with you?"

"I'm fine with it if I can ride in that jacket of yours," yelled Jitterz who had slid over fifty feet since Brier had last looked.

Reaching Jitterz, he placed the small tick on his head under the hood and they set off to see what fate had in store for them on the bone-chilling ICY WASTELANDS

A number of events occurred that led to me taking a while to complete these updates and even then I'd done all but the last couple. Then, when I finally got them done I figured so much time had passed that I wouldn't worry about them and instead just let them sit there. Now, however, I am determined to tie up any and all loose ends around here, starting with the Glacier Islands. I do work though, as well as update other areas of the RPG. I also have interests outside of FB that I would like to start concentrating on again, and I am no longer prepared to devote 16+ hours a day to FB like I used to. I love this place, but I do not plan to chain myself to it and may even finally start watching Game of Thrones and a few other series I have all lined up ready to go but can never start watching because I need to update something or other. Given this information if you're wanting to jump on board with me you are welcome to continue with me knowing that I will be prioritising other areas (several shops and the Arcane Realms). We may move slowly but we'll chug along. If this does not suit you then you do not need to reply. I know this set of updates contains some written for now inactive members but that's ok. I posted them because I wrote them. If this encourages anyone to return then so be it, otherwise I'm happy to take on a smaller group. I won't be taking new intros at this time, at least until I know how many people in my current group are on board. If you can please reply in lightcyan using size one font I'll appreciate it. Please also remember to write at least a 300 word reply or you will be skipped. So here we are, and off we go. Enjoy.... at last ;).

    The Glacier Islands

    The Polar Region

    The Icy Wastelands

Tman109ner ~ The Icy Wastelands stretch out before you, a long, vast, harsh stretch of territory that is unwelcoming at best. There is nothing here but snow and ice for miles and miles, but you venture out anyway, sure you'll find something worth your while. People don't come here for no reason, after all. There must be something of value if they're willing to make this lonely trek. Luckily you're not alone though, Jordan's happy chirping helping keep your spirits up on this sunny but chill early morning. Rugged up warmly, little is getting through your thick layers of Arctic clothing, but the frigid air is biting at your cheeks and you wonder if you should have perhaps brought along a face mask as well. Trudging along with ice crunching rhythmically in unison with your footsteps little happens for the first 30 minutes or so when you eventually notice some movement in the distance. It's not all that obvious at first against the snow-laden backdrop, but you soon find yourself approaching a Spheal who is travelling in your direction. It appears to be making a wide arc, ensuring it doesn't pass too closely by you. The question is whether you'd like to challenge the little pup, or continue on your way...

poketim2 ~ Ah, the Icy Wastelands. So big, so vast, so flat, so white! How could you ever get lost out here? Several hours and many miles into your travels and Jitterz is enjoying himself, this large glacier being one huge playground for him and you laugh as he slides and plays on the snow and ice, but you are now realising that it's actually very easy to get lost way out here. No matter the direction you look the view is the same, and you've become quite disoriented. You're not even sure you remember if you need to head towards or away from the sun at this point and find yourself hoping that things will work out. Surely they will. They have to! Moving on, you watch while Jitterz makes another long slide along the ice, only this time he suddenly dips down and out of site leaving nothing but a splash! behind. Racing forward you find a hole in the ice. While it's not very large, it's big enough for a person to fall through so you're careful not to get too close in case you end up falling in as well. Jitterz resurfaces a second later, coughing and spluttering, desperately grasping at the edge of the ice, trying to climb out. You reach forward to help when he suddenly becomes airborne, flying through the air with a scream and coming to land with a thud in the snow where he sits shivering violently, bewildered and freezing. A moment later a Seel leaps up through the hole, sliding onto the ice with a triumphant cry, pleased with itself for helping a fellow Pokémon out of a spot of trouble...

    Terror Mountain

Atari ~ Venturing into Terror Mountain territory is exciting to say the least. The combination of mystery and danger associated with this region of the Glacier Islands puts a spring in your step as you cannot wait to see what adventures this place has in store for you. Murasaki is content walking beside you, the brisk walk and weak sunlight helping to warm him against the harsh elements. You know it won't be long before the sunlight fades, however, and wonder how long he'll be able to handle the temperatures without any protection. A couple of uneventful hours pass before you find yourself second-guessing your decision to come here. It's cold, boring, and nothing like you had initially imagined as you've seen absolutely no sign of life in this desolate area. You continue on, however, and before long find yourself standing outside what appears to be an abandoned log cabin. You can see nothing through the frosted windows, but one look at Murasaki tells you there's something in there. Perhaps his psychic abilities are sensing something you would otherwise miss, but Murasaki doesn't necessarily appear to want to go inside the cabin. In fact, he's edging away from it, hoping you'll continue to follow him along the trail...

    Crystal City

    Beta Station

aeroboy93 ~ Taking refuge from the cold within Crystal City's welcoming walls, you decide to volunteer your services at Beta Station, the city's research centre, and soon find yourself standing in a very small, sparsely furnished, quite uninviting reception area with not a soul in sight. You immediately find the notice board and scan the three jobs available, wondering if the notices are out of date as the papers looks like they've been pinned up here for quite some time.

The first reads, "Winter Deerling Wanted". Notice number two reads, "Ice Core Samples for delivery to Alpha Station", while the third reads "Please collect 10 Snover Berries".

You're a little curious as to what the research involves for these tasks, and as you read over them again notice that one of the notices appears to be covering yet a fourth job. Lifting the ice core sample notice you see a piece of scrap paper with a child's scrawl reading, "Pleez halp fynde Pooky I kant fynd him! BIG REWARD! Lucy." You wonder how long this notice has been here and if Lucy ever did find Pooky when the sound of someone entering the room has you turning to face a friendly bespectacled, balding professor who greets you with a smile.

"Can I help you, lad?" he asks, awaiting your response...

Spoook ~ Marvelling at the technological wonderland that is Crystal City you're still quite overwhelmed by this land as a whole and look forward to finding what it has to offer. For now you've decided to start off with something fairly safe, but still feeling you need a little guidance you head for the research base where you hope you'll be able to find a goal to begin with. Knocking on Beta Station's front door you wait a few moments before reaching out to knock again only to have the door fly open resulting in you very nearly knocking on the slightly crazed face of a bespectacled, balding professor.

"Now really isn't a good time," he barks, immediately slamming the door shut in your face. Taken aback you stare at the door for a moment tempted to walk away after such a rude and abrupt meeting but instead find yourself reaching out, turning the door handle, and walking inside. You immediately see the professor sitting hunched over one of the computers, his anxious face not even looking up from the screen when you walk in.

"I thought I told you it's not a good time," the professor says, a slight hint of annoyance in his tone. "I've lost contact with my colleague and am trying to connect remotely to her Pokégear but nothing is working. The police won't do anything because she's not been missing for 24 hours, and I'm stuck here until the conference in an hours time!" He runs his fingers through his hair, clearly distressed and more than a little anxious.

"I need to get out of here," the professor mutters, pacing back and forth, his agitation clearly growing with each passing minute. "What if she's been ambushed? What if she's been hurt? What if it's been stolen?"

"Unleeesssss...." he says slowly, stopping dead in his tracks as an idea forms amidst his impending panic. "What if you were to go for me?" he says aloud, this more an idea than a question as the notion forms in his mind. "It's not far away, and you'll get there well before I can. If there is a problem you'll be able to help, and if not it'll be an interesting little side-quest on your journey," he says, his face brightening at the prospect of a possible solution.

"What do you say?" he asks, already gathering items for your impending trip. "I'll make it worth your while," he promises, eagerly awaiting your response...

    Ice Hotel

Flame Mistress ~ Marvelling at the magnificent craftsmanship that has gone into creating this spectacular hotel made of snow and ice, you soon find yourself settling into your fifth floor room where even the furniture is carved from ice. You notice a stream of weak sunlight filtering in through the curtains and wonder what kind of technology allows for an entire city to be protected from the freezing arctic conditions, and a hotel made of ice to have protection from the sun. The mind boggles, but rather than think too deeply on the matter you decide to enjoy your stay and take all of these marvels for granted. Testing out the comfy bed you can't wait to snuggle into the welcoming covers tonight, but right now you're piqued for adventure and are rather looking forward to seeing what Crystal City has to offer. While mulling over what to do first you hear some voices in the hall, and although you can't quite make out what they're saying you can tell from their tones that something isn't quite right. Fighting the urge to eavesdrop you find you can't quite help yourself and move closer to the door, listening in on the tail end of the conversation.

"What makes you think you have any choice?" a male voice growls. "Now get out of here and finish the job you're being paid for!" You then hear the door next to yours close and after a few moments footsteps recede down the icy corridor. Part of you wants to follow the person walking down the hallway before they get too far so you can find out who one half of the conversation belonged to, but another part of you wants nothing to do with what you overheard as you have a strange feeling it's something you really shouldn't be getting involved in. Hmm, decisions...

    Ice Arenas

Arc_Angel ~ After having braved the less than favourable conditions of the Glacier Islands to reach the more welcoming temperatures of the technologically advanced oasis of Crystal City you find yourself drawn to the ice arenas where the thought of a good battle brings a tingle of warmth to your partially frozen skin. Eve appears eager as well and so the two of you venture inside the large battle complex in search of a challenge.

The moment you walk through the doors you realise this place is more than just a couple of battle arenas, it's a fully fledged multi-level battledome complete with main centre arena, stadium seating for several thousand spectators, and surrounded by another six smaller arenas. On the level above the arenas an indoor burgundy carpeted walkway surrounds the entire complex, its glass walls allowing the perfect view of every arena so people are able to roam around and see multiple battles in progress simultaneously.

The lobby is bustling with trainers and after looking around for a short time realise this is because sign ups for the annual Glacier Cup Tournament are taking place today. Trainers are watching clips of battles from last year's tournament on screens located throughout the room, poring over their team stats on one of the dozens of computers available for trainers to use, or watching one of the friendly battles in progress on arenas two and five that appear to be hyping up the crowd in preparation of the impending tournament.

An announcement plays over the intercom to say that places are filling faster than usual due to the increasing popularity of the tournament, so if you're planning on entering please sign up soon. You also hear a couple of trainers talking about volunteering for one of the friendly exhibition matches, one of them quite adamant about not doing so because they'd prefer to keep their team secret for as long as possible, believing that for people to watch him battle now would be a way of helping them to probe for his weaknesses.

This tournament appears to be larger than you'd anticipated, but at the same time that's hardly putting you off as it's been a while since you've last been involved with anything like this. The idea of warming up with an exhibition match is interesting as well, but you've also just arrived after a long trip to reach Crystal City and wouldn't say no to a nice warm meal, bath, and bed to be nice and rested for tomorrow. Weighing up your options you mull over what you'd like to do first...

Balmund ~ Arriving at Crystal City's Ice Arenas just in time to sign up for the annual Glacier Cup Tournament is a nice surprise indeed. You'd hoped you may be able to find some kind of competition to enter but hadn't anticipated it being on a scale of this size. Wandering around the complex you see clips of battles from last year's tournament and watch while trainers enter their team stats into the PC's provided, hoping the machines will choose their best team lineup for them.

The complex is much larger than it initially appeared, hosting seven arenas in total. One main central arena with stadium seating for several thousand people, with another six arenas surrounding it upon which there are currently some exhibition matches taking place that are certainly helping to hype up trainers and spectators alike for the upcoming tournament. While you're looking around wondering where to go first you suddenly hear a commotion beside you, Orchrist's heavy body very nearly knocking you to the ground as she's shoved into you. She hisses vehemently and it's all you can do to pull her back as a nasty looking oily haired, acne covered trainer and his Zangoose snicker at the two of you.

"Better watch that snake of yours," the male trainer drawls, flicking his long black fringe out of his dark brown eyes with a smirk while Zangoose flicks its claws threateningly. "My friend here doesn't take too kindly to bullies." He then turns on his heel and walks away while Zangoose follows, looking back over its shoulder to sneer at Orchrist who is seeing red as it's all you can do to stop her from going after them both.

While you're still trying to work out what just happened you hear another more friendly voice beside you.

"Don't worry about him, he thinks he can get away with anything just because he's the current Glacier Cup Champion." Turning around you're met with the very pretty image of a female trainer of approximately seventeen years of age whose bright hazel eyes momentarily mesmerise you. She smiles shyly before lifting a finger to tuck a stray strand of light brown shoulder length hair behind her ear. "Please consider joining this year's tournament," she smiles, handing you a flyer. "You might even beat Adrian!" she laughs, before heading further into the lobby to hand out more of the pamphlets she is carrying.

Exchanging questioning glances with Orchrist who is still furious at having been blindsided by the arrogant duo you mull over what to do next. There are exhibition matches to watch, information booths to visit, even a restaurant and on site Pokémon Centre to check out. There is also the matter of lodgings to consider. A tournament like this will run for a couple of weeks at least so you're going to need to stay somewhere in the meantime. Thinking it best to take Orchrist's mind off what just happened, you feel you need to move quickly to distract her from the Zangoose she is eyeing across the room...

    Crystal Port

jolteonjak ~ Finally arriving in Crystal City's Port after having worked your way here aboard a cargo vessel you venture onto the docks, stopping to take a deep breath while gazing around the area. You feel the sun shining down upon you though it makes hardly any difference in this frigid arctic air. The cries of Wingull and Pelipper can be heard all around, some circling overhead waiting for a chance to steal their favourite treats from one of the many stalls on the docks selling freshly caught seafood while the more daring risk being crushed in the crowd to scavenge for titbits dropped by careless merchants and customers.

Locating a sign containing a map you take a few minutes to examine it so you have a better idea of the area and what types of places there are available to visit. It appears there is a tavern for the thirsty, weary traveller, a cafe for those who prefer non-alcoholic beverages, a five star seafood restaurant, a couple of tourist shops, and a museum, as the majority of the area is taken up by fresh seafood stalls, public and private wharves, and several rows of drab-looking warehouses.

While you're mulling over where to go you notice something from the corner of your eye and divert your gaze to the Wingull flying in low and quite erratically toward the dock. There is clearly something wrong with the Seagull Pokémon and for a moment you can't help but wonder if it's even going to make it to land but it finally struggles in, landing witha thud on the dock beside one of the fisherman's stalls. Judging from its size the Wingull appears to be quite young, and when thinking about it you don't ever recall having before seen one this small. One of its wings lays motionless on the ground while the baby bird struggles to walk, clearly exhausted from its flight when all of a sudden the fisherman whose stall its landed beside yells out.

"Shoo you pesky bird! Get out of here I do not fish for you!" He then kicks out, striking the bird in the chest and sending it reeling off the dock to land with a splash and a weak "Squuaaawk!" into the frigid arctic sea...

MarbleZone ~ You arrive in Crystal Port, a surprisingly busy area considering the harsh and unfriendly climate. You see many stalls where people are milling to purchase fresh seafood and move further along the pier to find private and public wharves as well as more shops, including some for tourists as well as a tavern, cafe, and restaurant. Way down at the end of the wharves is a building resembling a museum, while several rows of warehouses are located nearby to store all of the goods coming into this busy port. With no particular destination in mind you wander the area, noting some of the more expensive boats and yachts docked on the private wharves. The museum looks like it might be an interesting place to visit, while the warehouse district may prove fruitful if you can muster up some work. You've heard stories of trainers being paid with strange and exotic items rather than with proper currency and wonder if you may be lucky enough to find something like this. While you're wondering what to do next you hear a voice behind calling, "Hey, kid!"

You spin around and frown when you see a pudgy forty-something man with thick black hair, eyebrows, and beard, staring right at you. A few choice words come to mind in relation to the way in which he's addressed you but you let it slide for the time being, instead waiting to see what he has to say.

"You're lookin' a bit lost there kid," he says, when you notice he's actually looking a little stressed out.

"I tell ya what," he continues, handing you a package. "I'll pay you with a Big Pearl if you can deliver this package to Shelley at the museum. My boy is sick today and I can't leave my shop to make this delivery. If you're not busy can you please do an old man a favour?"

    The Arctic Alps

    Frozen Temple

Golden Mew ~ Walking through the entrance of this abandoned ruin a chill runs up your spine when your eyes fall upon the inside of the magnificent temple. Although a portion of the ceiling had crumbled away centuries ago the place is in remarkably good shape. Weak sunlight filters in through the ceiling shining on the exposed ice, a thick layer of which covers every portion of the entrance hall from the tall pillars to the walls and the tiled floor. A large circular mosaic crest in the middle of the floor is one of the first things to catch your attention but your eyes are soon drawn to the three corridors leading out of the entrance hall, one to the left, one to the right, and another directly across the room from you. Each is guarded by a large wooden door with the symbol of an Icy Pokémon upon it. The door on the left is inscribed with the image of Regice, the door on the left with Kyurem and the door straight ahead with Articuno.

While you're lost in your own thoughts Mangrove stomps her foot impatiently, walking around the room to keep herself warm as this is the last place she thought she'd end up considering her obvious type disadvantage to this frigid climate. It's a pretty enough place, but her discomfort is clearly going to become an issue in the not too distant future. It is then that Mangrove stops dead in her tracks, her eyes focused on something in the very corner of the room, hidden way back where the sunlight doesn't reach, and you find your breath catching in your throat as you also focus on the darkness. All is deathly quiet for several drawn out moments until you hear a muffled cough. Mangrove stomps again, but this time she's excited, and in the next moment you could swear you see a flash of red on the corner but before you have a chance to think about what you might have seen a Froslass appears from the corner and floats toward you both.

"Please leave now," a feminine voice echoes throughout the icy chamber.

It appears Froslass would like for you to leave, but you're not so sure that you want to...

    Tranquil Lake

Acio29619 ~ You listen to the rhythmic sound of snow crunching under your feet as you trudge the last several metres up the trail leading to the famous Tranquil Lake. The air is crisp, your cheeks rosy as your warm breath evaporates in the cold mountain air. It's been a long and reasonably eventless trek, but you've finally arrived and stand at the top of the trail overlooking the beautiful lake before you. The majestic view has you standing in awed silence for a few moments as you drink in the scene, the ice-covered surface of the large lake heavily surrounded by pine trees that have helped to keep it secluded for so long. As you're gazing out over the lake wondering what kind of Pokémon may dwell in its depths your eyes are drawn to a bright red streak that is shooting out onto its icy surface. Your breath catches in your throat as you realise the thing you are looking at is actually a child who is running as fast as they can out towards the middle of the lake with absolutely no care in the world for their own safety. You can't make out if it's a boy or girl but they're in hot pursuit of something small but you're too far away to tell what it is when suddenly your fears are realised when you see the ice give way beneath the child's feet and you hear a shrill scream echo out across the mountaintop...

    Pine Wood

King Ghidora ~ Snow crunches under your feet as you make your way through the Arctic Alps Pine Wood. Sunlight manages to filter through sections of the tall trees, but for the most part this wood is cold and dreary despite the fact it's popular with the tourists. Feeling a little vulnerable way out here with only Krabby for company you call out, your voice echoing across the mountain range, but after receiving no reply continue walking through the trees. Krabby is shivering, this climate not exactly agreeing with him but he trudges along anyway, happy to keep his trainer company. Several minutes pass when you start to feel a little insecure, almost as though someone is watching you, but although you stop and look around a few times to find nothing but miles of trees around you, see nothing until Krabby suddenly pipes up, clicking his pincers and pointing at a small tree a few metres away. It doesn't look like anything is there, but as you step forward to investigate are blasted in the face with a chilling blast of Powdery Snow. Snover then leaps out, ready to battle!

StonE EdgE ~ Apologies, but I personally don't update those who use first person narrative. Should another updater enter this zone they are welcome to pick you up unless you'd like to repost using third person in which case I'll be happy to take you on ^-^.

takkupanda ~ The Arctic Alps are certainly beautiful territory, and the Pine Wood is no different. You take your time walking amongst the tall snow covered trees, enjoying the fresh air and looking forward to the day. Before long the sun disappears, however, with the sky growing darker by the moment. You can hear thunder rumbling and know a storm is rolling in but are not quite sure where to take cover. You've heard storms in this area are quite harsh and don't really want to take your chances sheltering by any trees. Just then you hear a twig snap and your head snaps in the direction the sound came from to find a Stantler staring at you through the now lightly falling snow. It turns and starts walking away before stopping and looking back at you. It appears it wants you to follow, but do you really want to be running off on a wild goose chase when a storm is approaching rather than looking for shelter..?

    Snowy Oasis

    Snowflake Village

Trainer Andy ~ "You're willing to work for your board, eh?" replies the barman, tossing a hand towel over his shoulder while pouring a beer for one of his patrons. Facing the man you nod, noting he must be in his mid twenties and that he's quite muscular. The man clearly works out and from the look of him you'd guess he easily attracts the ladies. "You look like you could use a feed, kid," he replies. "Take a seat, I'll organise you a meal, and we'll talk."

Several minutes later you're sitting in a booth devouring a delicious steak with sides of fries, steamed veg and salad, before washing it down with a large mug of mead. Definitely feeling better you wait while the bartender removes your plate then takes a seat opposite you. "I hope you enjoyed your meal," he says with a smile before reaching out to shake your hand.

"I'm Reagan," he continues. "This tavern belongs to my father but I'm running it while he's... away." The slight hesitation in Regan's voice here peaks your curiosity but you sit and listen, sensing now is not the right time to be asking questions. "For several decades my family have been proud of the fact we make the finest wine in all of Fizzy Bubbles, but in recent years there has been some competition as another manufacturer has come onto the scene whose wish it is to destroy us rather than share in the market. At first they wanted to buy us out, but this is a family business and we have no desire to sell. Since then they've tried sabotaging our wine but more recently have begun to hit us where it hurts most."

Reagan hesitates for a moment, his eyes searching yours for any signs that may tell him what you're thinking but if he sees anything he doesn't show it. You can't help but wonder how you're able to help him but he has fed you so the least you can do is sit quietly and wait for him to finish.

"We own a plantation of Snover not far from here," Reagan continues. "Our Shuckle process the Snover's berries, and with a couple of simple tweaks of the recipe we have produced a wine to which no others compare. Lately, our Shuckle and Snover are being stolen. At first we didn't notice the Snover going missing but this has clearly been going on for quite some time. More recently our Shuckle have been stolen as well, and we fear that if we cannot find them we may lose our livelihood."

"We need some help and you could be just the man I'm looking for. You're new in town so nobody will suspect a thing if you poke around. If you can find any clue at all that I may be able to follow up I'll really appreciate it," Reagan finishes, watching you intently...

uhhhhh ~ A little lost with so much white making every direction you face look practically the same, it's the mouth-watering, tummy-rumbling smell of a Sunday roast cooking that your nose follows to Snowflake Village. The delicious aroma leads you right to the doorstep of the local tavern where people are already starting to gather for their evening meal. It's been a long day travelling and you're looking forward to some rest along with a hearty home-cooked meal and so you approach the barkeep enquiring as to a place to stay.

"Sure," the young man replies with a friendly smile, looking you over curiously. "Are you paying up front or working your way from place to place? I have a couple of jobs for you if you're needing to work your way through here so just say the word. In the meantime if you'd like to settle into your room let me know." He pours a drink and places a tumbler of golden liquid in front of you, the sweet scent of the warm brew heavenly. "It's a special blend and on the house," he grins, noting your curiosity. "Non-alcoholic," his grin widens. "Feel free to let me know if you'd like a mug of the hard stuff."

Looking around while you take a cautious sip of the amber fluid you're instantly warmed by both the feel of the liquid going down smoothly as well as by your surroundings. It's a rustic old bar, the flickering flames from the fireplace creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The lights are set just low enough to add to that wonderfully warm ambient feeling without giving the place a dark and dingy feel. You see a kitchen-hand carrying a couple of plates of food out from a door to the back of the bar, placing them in front of a smiling young couple and your tummy rumbles again. It's a nice place. The question now is what to do first. Will you order some food, have the barkeep show you to your room, or maybe even wander around the village for a while?

    Frosty Cavern

Nightfall715 ~ "Wow" is one of the first thoughts to enter your mind when laying eyes upon the opening of this hidden cavern at the bottom of the mountainside. The rows of stalagmites and stalactites at the cavern's entrance making it appear you're about to walk into the mouth of an enraged monster. Oddly enough, this makes the thought of exploring the cavern even more appealing and so neither yourself or Black have the slightest hesitation in regards to exploring it. Moments later you find yourselves inside an enormous cave you could easily fit a palace inside of. It's much larger than you'd expected and appears to branch off in all directions. The chamber you are standing in is has four visible tunnels but there is no way of knowing if any of them will lead you outside or further into the cavern without actually going through them to find out.

One tunnel opening is to your immediate left, another at the back left of the chamber, a third at the back right of the chamber, and the fourth directly ahead of you where you could swear you just saw some movement. Black's eyes narrow as they focus on the spot as it appears she'd seen it too and she stands, maintaining an attack position should she suddenly find herself needing to fight. Several silent seconds tick by and you see or hear nothing other than the faint dripping of water somewhere nearby making you both wonder if you'd been imaging things when all of a sudden a little Snorunt appears out of nowhere, waddles up to you and smiles, clearly quite curious to see two strangers in its home...

((If it's okay with you, I prefer to fit this adventure in my character's current timeline rather than that of the intro post, since a while has passed a lot has happened to Levin in the meantime))

"Lost"? "Kid"? The hell does he think I am?...

Levin was briefly lost in thought as he gazed upon the sorry figure before him. A fat man in his forties in prime condition for an immediate stroke, visibly distressed and with very little in the way of manners. In a way, it reminded him of the obese man in chains he met over at Phantom Isle, who Crix pretty much forced Levin to help.

    But Crix isn't here anymore.

He stared at the package the man ostensibly tried to shove in his lap, but didn't move to grab it. Instead he addressed the stranger, taking special care to sound just as blunt as he did.

    - You're lookin' a bit stressed there, old man. Tell ya what - you let me know what's in the package before you pawn it off on me. I'll be glad to help, but that could be a Claw Fossil for all I know.

He tried to read the man's expression as he spoke; a Big Pearl was nothing to scoff at, but if there was either bigger profit to be made, or legal issues to run into, he had to go a bit deeper with this. If nothing contrary came up, the Pearl would do.
He looked around for the museum, to where many people flocked. Either out of genuine interest about the history of Glacier Island, or simply looking for a source of heat, the building did seem to attract a considerable number of passersby. Whoever that Shelley guy was, he probably had his hands full with customers; either that or he'd be pretty busy sheltering everyone else who was only looking to escape the unforgiving cold. He made a mental note to visit the museum of his own accord later, regardless of how his bargaining with the fat man ended up.

    - Forgive my suspicion; I'd say it's justified for a... lost kid.
