Well, time for another egg-hatching bonanza today! And AquaRegisteel, forgive me for lack of knowledge of such things, but what does HB stand for?

@PaddysTurtwigFanClub: The shiny I'm trying to hatch is Poliwag. 156 eggs hatched so far, but still no shiny, as you might expect. The other wonderful thing about non-MM hunting is that I'm using the Everstone and Power items on different various Poliwag to control the nature and IVs of the Poliwag that hatch! Each Poliwag that hatches has an 8 in 21 chance of perfect IV in Sp. Atk, a 1 in 2 chance of being Timid nature, and a 1 in 1 (guaranteed) chance of a near perfect (30) IV in Speed! About 1 in 9 for all three and the DW ability! (EDIT: Replaced '4 in 11' with '8 in 21.' Apparently I'm still waking up! Or I need to retake discrete mathematics...)

I probably should start counting eggs now... makes it seem like I can estimate more easily when I'll see a shiny. No luck so far!

I'll go for Axew next. My DS is being repaired atm so I won't be able to continue Shiny Hunting. The R and L buttons are stuck so I couldn't SR Pokemon :L

Worst case scenario, you'd have to turn off/turn on instead of Soft Reseting.

What about roaming Pokemon? They always roam around, can they change into shiny after some time without resetting the game?

I think it may depend on the version, but in certain cases, KOing the roaming legendary and then defeating the Elite Four would respawn it with different stats.
Works with most stationary legendaries, but then, for shiny-hunting, that's not really the best option.

How many times can the roaming Pokemon respawn?

As many times as you can KO them and rebattle the Elite Four.
But if I were you, I'd do some research beforehand, to make sure the legendary you want to hunt can be respawned that way.
Wouldn't want to KO it and lose it forever on that save file. :/

Kay. I could never catch Articuno in Platinum since I used Crobat to lower its HP and accidentally poisoned it :L

Oh and I believe Valkneer asked what a BQ is. It is a Badge Quest where you obtain at least 1 shiny pokemon before every single gym. So by the time you reach the Elite 4 you have 8 shiny pokemon. It is a fun way of hunting.

I know this has been asked time and time again- but in HG/SS the starters appear shiny on the selection screen, correct? So I do not even have to take the starter to see if it is shiny or not? I will start SR'ing soon and I just wanted to triple check

after getting my shiny piplup last nite(now empoleon) i made it to the 2nd gym lol and finally beat it after countless hours >.> now i can SR cranidos im at 27 SRs/81 seen

Oh cool. But I don't think I'll be taking that quest since I've never found any other shiny Pokemon except from HG/SS. The shiny Pokemon I got is only Red Gyarados in HG and Dunsprace by rock smashing in a cave in HG by accident :L

Umm... I thought that everstone and power items worked with the MM method in Black/White...

@abdulmuhsee: Yes, but if you use the Masuda Method, you can't switch freely between Pokemon to get better IVs/nature for use with the Everstone/Power items without loads of international trading.

But as long as your Ditto is foreign, you can freely switch between its breeding partner and a superior baby, correct?
