yes they are very hard to run into, i have over 100 hours in my game and have only ran into a shiny timbur. that i was not paying attention to and ran away. i was so angry with myself. but is a shiny harder to catch than a regular?

I have maxed out he game time on mine without hacks (999:59) and not run into a signle shiny on White.

Iv'e only had 4 shinies in my life, Sandslash/Ruby. Pidgey/Leaf green. Kricketune/Pearl. Cofagrigus/White. Too bad i don't have any of those games anymore, except White & a Heartgold version i bought the other day, cause i never played the old one.

I've never tried MMing. What should I try first, and is it very hard? Anyways, I've caught 2 wild shinies (Fearow and Hariyama) and encountered 3 (+Metang, didn't catch :P). Btw, how hard is shiny hunting (Never tried that either).

It isn't really hard exactly. But you have to be patient as it takes a while for a shiny to appear usually. Try whatever pokemon you like. Some pokemon like beldum take a loooong time to hatch.

I found a shiny Geodude in Platinum. I haven't found any others, unfortunately. I'm hunting for a shiny Trapinch in SoulSilver now. I've hatched 11 eggs so far. I hope I get lucky!

Here are some tips (Unova):

-Empty out your party except for anything with Flame Body or Magma Armor. I use my Magcargo.
-Leave the two Pokemon at the DC- One foreign, one not.
-From Route 3, go to the end of Skyarrow bridge and come back, and the egg should be there.
-Use the same route with the egg in your party and keep hatching.

Hey, what are the Chances of a Random Encounter Shiny Audino? That must be rarer then winning the lottery! (Okay, maybe not that rare, but still...)

You gotta account for several things-
The chance that the grass will be shakey (Unless your camped there)
The chance for a Pokemon to be shiny (1/8000- somehting...)
Actually having a Pokeball on hand.
Not killing it.

Good luck, Shiny Metagross looks awesome. I haven't had much luck trying for shiny DW Poliwag despite 300 or so MM eggs. All I've found so far is some lame ol' Pokerus...

I've been SRing fairly regularly since November trying to get a shiny Virizion. I'd give up and just catch the normal one, but it's been so long I feel invested now. It's starting to get frustrating, though. Other than that I haven't encountered many shinies in the games. Had a friend RNG some stuff for me but I think I've only ever encountered three other shinies. A ryhorn, when I had no pokeballs, a raticate, out of pokeballs again, and a carvanha. The last was cool cause I was looking to train a sharpedo for my team .

I had to SR for close to a year on FireRed for my first shiny Mewtwo. Funnily enough I ran into a shiny one first try on my second playthrough. And it took 6 months for my shiny Rayquaza.

I really dont care for shinies. Its like impossible to get them without RNG or chaining in D/P/PLTM
Most of the regular colors look better then the shinies anyway lol. Ive only found 1 shiny ever and that was a shiny rattata in HG. (and shiny gyarados but that dont count.....)
