hardest video games

Among games I've played, excluding stuff like I Wanna Be the Guy and bullet hell games which are pretty much just exercises in muscle memory, the Donkey Kong Country games can be pretty asinine. At least you get a lot of lives, but especially by the end, two hit points is tough.

This will sound absolutely pathetic, but to me, the latter part of Super Mario Sunshine was absolutely brutal.

No, I can agree. All the blue coins when you're not keeping track and then there's that lily pad on the poisonous water which is already challenging to get to.

Contra 4 for the D.D is the hardest game I have ever played....way to easy to die.

DK64 was my first N64 game as well. I was seven when I got it, and didn't beat it until I was sixteen (I think). I'm actually doing a runthrough of it right now, and while it's a lot easier now that I'm older, it's still annoying as hell, especially if you want to 100% the game.

VVVVVV is infamously hard, especially the "Veni Vidi Vici" sequence. Hotline Miami is also brutal at some points, though that's not as bad because you respawn so fast.

Probably one of the hardest games I've ever played is Spelunky. That shit gets impossible around the jungle levels, especially since like half the enemies can instantly kill you and you only regain health by rescuing the damsel if she spawns on that level.

The thing with that game is, there's just so much to do. You have to be the right character to go into certain places, pick up certain items... switching around can get real tedious. Trying to get 100% is really tough.

Two, Pokémon conquest and Baten Kaitos. Conquest involves so much strategy and differs from the original series so much that you don't know what you're even getting into. And Baten Kaitos... WHOA! I mean battle style, Cards, Time changes and a gripping storyline are incredible, but the bosses are what get you. They're so hard that you wonder if you can beat them. Especially the last one, which I still haven't beaten. It's just hard overall but satisfying. And this is a type of game that actually makes you hate the bad guy. Nowadays it's just "oh look, the bad guy, BANG BANG" No throughout this game, it actually makes you despise the final boss, which makes it that much more satisfying when you beat them. But I digress, yeah those are my two.

- Crystal Defenders!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't even get pass the 1st board! D=< I mean that's so hard! Yet, I was able to beat the demo no problem. =_=

The 1st board on there for me is really hard. I have no idea why. ;____; But I always play that to have fun and lose. XD It's like the beginning and middle is easy, but the end of the board, I just "lose" for some reason... xD It may be just because I use the summons at the wrong time and use up my coins on leveling up. =P

If PC games don't count, I would say Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels. And I beat the game 4 times.

Ninja gaiden series in general, especially the reboot of Ninja gaiden(xbox) as its a pretty hard game. Especially freaking tanks.

Also not that great at platformers, so some of the older nes games (like batman return of the joker and older megaman games) are pretty hard to me.

Hardest games for me: TF2 and Counter-Strike. Mostly because my teammates have of 50% chance of being complete dip*****.

But if online-nultiplayer games don't count, i'd say The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. I hate when my batteries go out. -__-

XCOM: Enemy Unknown on "Impossible" difficulty. Your guys can't hit the broad side of a barn while the aliens can snipe them with OHKO kills from across the map even if you waste turns having your guys take cover, which is supposed to raise their defenses and reduce their chances of getting hit. Ha ha, and I thought my jokes were bad. But I guess they weren't kidding when they said "Impossible."

Athena on the NES was also pretty impossible, and I'm surprised AVGN hasn't covered that one yet. That game has the dumbest things going on, like useless armor, bosses that can only be killed with certain weapons but give you no forewarning about it, glitches where it's possible to get stuck in the game due to bad play-testing, and other quirks.

i can agree with this on some parts but some parts are also incredibly easy haha

Thinking about it, there are several parts of that game that are quite challenging. I think finding all of the Blue Coins is the worst part (I don't know how anyone can do it without a guide). Especially in Noki Bay. Noki Bay sucks.

Uhh, exactly what makes it frustrating? The only thing frustrating about that game are those damn blue coins. Pain in the neck to look for when you have ~15 left.
