I prefer something balanced, not a huge power, something common like Shadow Ball (80) and a normal accuracy.
Power all the way
Accuracy is more reliable

Raw power with low accuracy might be able to get you out of a tight situation (or screw you over in a game that would otherwise be yours), but across multiple battles, accuracy and moderate base power will win you more rounds.
It depends on the situation. As main attacking move I go for accuracy. I only go for power in some "desperate" situations, where Flamethrower or Ice Beam wouldn't accomplish what they're there for. Those are rare though because luck is not one of my attributes on battling and I tend to miss too much xD So, no risk, let's take accuracy.

"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites." - Karen (Johto Elite 4)
Well, due to my Hyper Offensive style, I go with complete raw power to absolutely overwhelm the opponent.
Balance... Because if you too little acc makes it miss and too little power makes it less likely to defeat pokes

If it's 80 or 85 percent, i tend to go with it , especially in the case of volcarona, who can totaally KO gliscor with a 252 timid fire blast(provided it has sun up or at least LO) and a few other things, like starmie's hydro pump, which took down scizor(with spikes) and tyranitar (on the switch in) back when i ran specs on it. And are there any 4th gen players who don't remember games won through that 60% hypnosis actually hittting?. I'll usually only go for accuarcy if the next best move is 60-70 accuarcy compared to 100.

Tuan Sixtus: Color is a stupid gimmick that only amateur film makers use.
Villain of Time: Even though he is a bot, he is better than the rest of you, because he believes that he is alive.
Villain of Time: Please note that in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Collector's Edition I actually do have red blood.
It depends on how powerful it is and how accurate it is compared to the alternative but I try for power.
Real avatar is on my page.
I try for power most of the time.

I like winning matches with predictions, so I tend to use moves with more accuracy. The only move on my pokemon which has low accuracy is probably will-O-wisp

i picked moves with accuracy because my pokémon team are tough--enough--and there's more pp![]()
Generally, the correlation is that for Offensive teams:
If your team is generally a HO or a standard Offense, a player on average would go for higher power moves, due to the fact you have more sweepers than normal balance or Bulky Offense teams.
The closer you get to becoming stall on the offensive scale, the probability of one choosing higher accuracy moves is much higher.

RIP Battling Academy, even though I just joined.
Memories are eternal.
I've never done competitive battling before, but I perefer something that will do a decent amount of damage while being reliably accurate. moves like aura sphere, ice beam, thunderbolt, and flamethrower are top choices for me.
On the other hand, a friend of mine has unnatural luck w/ guillotine... and I still question how, but it works for him.
Not that Guillotine is actually legal competitively...
Anyway, it's clear that it depends on the team and the pokemon; there's not much left to discuss. What I'm thinking now is to go for specifics; which pokemon would you use with higher power, versus which pokemon you would use higher accuracy. Make sure to specify the move-set as well.
For example, on Infernape, I'll generally go for Focus Blast over Hidden Power Fighting, becuase without the raw power of FB, Infernape might faint without getting a KO. He's too frail.
Anyway, that's the new discussion. Have fun.
