Default Lupin III - The Woman Called Fujiko Mine

    Who else is watching this?

I just came back from the first episode and I loved it. Admittedly the only bit of Lupin III I've been exposed to was The Castle of Cagliostro but that didn't dampen my experience.

Dai Sato (Cowboy Bebop, Eureka Seven, Ghost in the Shell) is doing the script and Takeshi Koike (Redline) is in the animation director and character designer. And for the first time a woman is directing a Lupin III series.

I've gotta say, I love the way they do the shadows. The CGI is well done too, and the whole thing looks elegant beginning to end. Miyuki Sawashiro (Suruga Kanbaru, Celty, Dalian, Kurapika) plays Fujiko Mine and I still think she's got one of the sexiest voice out there.

Not too sure I like the plot, but the beautiful art quality is enough to keep me watching for now....

I thought the first episode had a good setup. I'm already looking forward to what happens next.

I'd heard of Lupin III before, but I wasn't curious enough to check any Lupin III stuff out. The first episode of this new series plunged me right into a heist that was packed full of great action and intrigue. I already love Lupin III himself and his wolfish grin. Looks like a promising start!

Hold on... if this percentage was correct at the time of print, that means the actual percentage of false information is less than 100% if this signature is included. Which means that... no! I've become a slave to the system!!

I think I can recommend Castle of Cagliostro. It's a feature length movie with Miyazaki as director.

I liked it, a lot, truth be told I've always wanted to watch some of the other stuff but I had no idea where to start, since this one is apparently a prequel it seems like as good a place as any.

Like the self-appointed Champion of Charizards here, my only prior exposure to the Lupin III franchise is Castle of Cagliostro. I have to say that The Woman Called Fujiko Mine completely blew that away, which is quite a good place to be starting with a series, since Cagliostro was directed by Hayao Miyazaki himself. This was seriously so damn awesome. Someday someone will figure out what it is that makes noir stylings go so well with anime, but until then I'm happy to just take it at face value. This show looks and sounds fantastic. Lupin and Fujiko don't half make great leads, either. They're loveable rogues but pretty badass too, and their differences in attitude and approach offset each other perfectly. Move over, Space Brothers, Spring 2012 has a new golden wonder kid. Will the anticipated shows still to come be able to match or exceed this? I've got no idea but I do know we're in for a seriously kickass season.

Oh I'm interested now. I never knew where to start with Lupin and felt like I was missing out when I skipped it and watched only Trigun. From the postive reviews you guys are giving it, it should be worth watching.

I watched the first episode. It was great, the grainy animation style really fits the characters. Very entertaining and funny with a good amount of action. Naked breasts are always a plus too.

Oh wow, I'm happy I could spark so much interest in the series.

First time I've ever dipped into the world of Lupin III, I just finished watching the first episode of the newest series and loved every minute of it! The animation is comparable to some American cartoons. That soundtrack! It retains the art style of the original manga. Heck it feels like a manga using crosshatching for shading rather than a different colour is so unique aids with the series' gritty tone. Time for episode 2!

    Here's Funimation's site for it.

And there was me thinking that we were getting an episode free of gratuitous nudity (aside from title sequences, natch). Oh, how naive I was. That aside, another good episode this week. Goemon is an entertaining character and rounds out the cast nicely. I'm looking forward to the fun adventures we'll be seeing now that the introductions are out of the way.

Episode 3 was probably my least favourite of the bunch but I did like Goemon. Cutting bullets was badass to the core.

I liked episode 3 a lot but man can Fujiko disguise herself well. lol At Goemon slicing up Fujiko's clothes just to see what she stole.

Even funnier was when he thought she was his girlfriend after.
