The point is that the boost Meloetta gets from Relic Song isn't half as big as one that Terrakion, Infernape, or just about any other fighting type will get from something like swords dance.

    Default Mao Genesect Moveset Mao

    So umm... Mixed/Physical anyone?

JUST GOING TO HIT CHU HARD.
    Genesect (Hasty/ Naive)
    Item: Focus Sash/Life Orb
    EV Spread: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 Sp. Atk/HP
    Moveset:
    -X-Scissor
-Self Destruct (ONLY USE ON FOCUS SASH!) or Tri Attack/ Hidden Power Water
    -Shadow Claw/Ice Beam
    -Rock Polish/Flame Charge

So, ummm.... how about a mixed or physical Genesect? I mean, he has potential. Rock Polish is there to boost some speed. While you could use Flame charge to boost speed while hitting. X-Scissor is mixed/physical Genesect's main stab. Self Destruct is to EXPLODE when your at 1 HP or low HP (But fire types are mostly going to switch in so you'll be at 1 hp more often.) Tri Attack is to utilize a sp. attack boost, while Hidden Power Water will prevent Steel and Fire from ruining your party. Shadow Claw is there if you have Tri Attack/ Self Destruct, since it gets rid of pesky ghost types, while Ice Beam covers Flying, Ground, and rarely seen running into genesect grass types, and Dragon types!

So yeah.... I TRIED AT LEAST.

Nah, he's made quick work of from Quiver Dancing Volcarona, who is an OU resident, right? Volcarona resists mostly all of Genesect's moves and some of his moves just do some damage. The only thing that can save Genesect is if he is carrying HP Rock or Water. Might as well add that to a counter. Yes or nah?

Focus Sash won't save it from Self Fainting moves like Selfdestruct or Explosion.

Oh man...so satisfying to beat this thing after it took out the other 5 Pokemon of my team.

While that set could probably better, I think they were saying that it's a last resort for when you get low on health.

Does seem like a solid answer, I will add it.

Also on your mixed set I would probably run a moveset like :

    Thunderbolt
    Ice Beam
    U-turn / X scissor
    Rock Polish / Flame Charge

I doubt he'll even settle in OU with his typing.

Thing is, this is the kind of thing that people will make sets to counter. HP Rock Genesect will probably become pretty common. Granted, it won't then be as effective against other things, but it's one to watch out for...

Thanks to all those who made the Crystalline Guard the Clan it was. It was sad to see it go.

99 speed is such a troll speed tier. It'll be useful with a life orb I guess but in all honesty, it isn't that great. Bug/Steel is good defensively, but offensively it's terrible. Scizor can get away with it only because of Bullet Punch + U-turn.
MewtwoTHOUSAND is an original character DO NOT STEAL.

Oh and I use cheating devices to hack legitimate pokemon that I use for my own amusement only, get over it.

His typing is solid defensively to keep him strong and healthy. Then offensively his coverage moves + ability will make up for the fact he can't STAB them most of the time.

You're right, he has a wopping total of one weakness! That's insane! It's typing is down there with Leavany and Delibird!

Actually, it's pretty good typing. But even if it was bad, it's not bad enough to slow it down to much. STAB bug buzz is actually pretty nice, and it has boltbeam, download, flamethrower, and STAB U-turn. I bet it'll be a pretty popular scarf Volt Turn pokemon, since it's special attack and coverage can cause so many swap outs. It will also make a good specs wall breaker. Flamethrower especially separates it from Porgyon-Z, since it allows it to attack the many OU steel types and also break the JelliThorn core. It's actually a lot like Hydreigon now that I think about it.
But we already have HP rock Volc
What does that have to do with anything?

I'm expecting to see it run BoltBeam, U-turn, Bug Buzz, and Flamethrower. That's too much competition for a moveslot, and power/coverage will usually overrule luring out Volcarona. It's probably going to be pretty rare, but it does sound viable if your team struggles with Volc.

99 allows it to be out sped by some threats if it's LO. Volcarona, Celebi, Mixmence, Starmie, Latios, Latias(With HP Fire).

Many Pokémon will also adjust to Genesect by changing some IV's around so download will raise Attack > Special Attack; since most Genesect will be Special > Physical.

I think Rotom-H will get a raise in usage. Resisting most of the moves Genesect will be using. Having a nice typing in Fire/Electric, it'll be resisting Bug, Ice, Fire, Electric, Steel, Grass, and levitating above Ground moves.

Scizor has the same exact typing. And he's still OU. Same with Forretress.
Goodbye friends. My Pokémon drive is reaching zero, so I'm gonna go do other stuffs. Love you all. c:

He probably will be an uber, or at least an OU, cuz of it's stats: decent speed/ good typing, very nice mixed attacking stats, and his movepool is pretty good to

Genesect gets Drain Punch as well, so he gets better recovery.

    EDIT: wrong

I use genesect in dw a lot. I know him well and my set won't change and it won't go out of style.

    Genesect @Choice Scarf
    Hasty
    Download
    68Atk, 188Sp.Atk, 252Spe
    -U-turn
    -Thunderbolt
    -Flamethrower
    -Ice Beam
The ev's give me enough power to put a mojor dent in my opponent no matter what my download boost is. Pretty standard coverage. I find scarf is best because it lets me outspeed threats. And u-turn is a must.

Genesect is imminent ~ Being officially released starting August 11th! Finally the days are upon us when Genesect will be allowed to roam the standard OU metagame. Will it wreak havok, or be such a let down it goes NU? Any more thoughts on Genesect's position in the standard OU metagame soon to come?

Well, it has one niche over Scizor, being a special attacker with the necessary moves for coverage. With 99 speed and a Choice Scarf allows it to outspeed Scarfed Hydreigon and Haxorus and others as well. Plus on a Specs set, a sp boost from Download helps it if lucky. So IMO, it looks OU material enough.
