Fashion constantly changes and Cheren couldn't be taken seriously as a Gym Leader as his old sprite. That's about the only changes that were made. It's nothing major.
It had to be Black 2 that would leak, though, didn't it? Just to keep Iris' presence a secret even longer. xP
Bulbapedia listed the series of events:
First, the player and rival go to Bianca, where they get their starter Pokémon. After that, the player gets the Running Shoes and a Town Map from his/her mother and rival's sister, respectively. Then, the player heads to Route 19 where Bianca teaches the player how to catch a wild Pokémon. The player will then meet the Unova League Champion Alder on the same route. The player then proceeds to Sangi Town, which is also the town where Alder lives. From there the player proceeds to Sangi Ranch, where they battle with the rival. The player and rival then search for a Herdier, which is deep in the Sangi Forest; upon finding it, the player receives TM21 (Frustration). The player then returns to Sangi Town and fights two battles in Alder's house. The player then receives a Medal Box, Medals, and six Hint Medals from the Medal Old Man. After this, the player returns to Aspertia City, where they battle Leader Cheren at the Aspertia Gym and receive the Basic Badge and TM83 (Work Up). The player then receives TM27 (Return) and the C-Gear from Bianca. After this, the player proceeds to Route 20, where the Pokédex receives an upgrade; Route 20 then leads to Virbank City.

Interesting to note that between FRLG and HGSS (some years passed), most of the Gym Leaders (or all of the, I don't remember) changed clothes, but between BW and B2W2 (years passed again) only one changed. Two years and Burgh didn't even comb his hair. It really isn't lazy work. I don't even have hopes about the E4 and Champion now. I guess it will be something very boring.
How I wish I could like every cr*p GF does like some
Ugh. The rest of the gym leaders DO keep their old artwork. Man that sucks.

"Hey! I was looking forward to seeing you! My rival should be strong to keep me sharp."
Your rival would like to battle!
A clearer view of the map.
With both Anville and the searoute on the very edge of the map... I'm starting to doubt the inclusion of an eastern extension.
But I still haven't lost hope on a post-game area.
