I like the Abyssal Ruins, but I would have liked if they would have done something more with them. I just got them done today and once I was done I felt happy that I got a ton of money (and a Big Pearl from Zinzolin). But I think they could have done a little more w/ them. Maybe when you get done w/ them, it unlocks another mission to do.
Your guy's thoughts?
I would prefer it if the Abyssal Ruins weren't there at all. The whole point was providing some backstory to the region, so why couldn't they just have another Canalave Library like area in the Nacrene Gym? As for the Relic items and Arceus plates, just put them in the deepest corners of Relic Castle.
In fact the whole thing could be adapted to fit Relic Castle. Maybe instead of water blowing you out, an explorer will pull you out with an escape rope after a certain amount of time/steps to make sure you don't get lost or something. They could place various booby traps and things as you make your way closer to the treasure and generally make it a lot more exciting than a maze. Not to mention that the Dark/Light Stone was found there before it was moved to Nacrene.
Anyway, my main gripe is that there's a much simpler way of giving us access to Unova's past and that ultimately there wasn't much need for it when there was already a ruins area.

I'd have been happy with more Abyssal King backstory. (Or at least a more coherent version of the one we have now.)
Or they could've shoved a Legendary in it. But then again, my solution to everything is "shove a Legendary in it," so the validity of my suggestions might be kind of slanted.
...Manaphy would have worked, being a "prince" and all.

It's a dormant Volcano, makes sense with all the Black stuff being future and White stuff being past.
In white (past) the volcano's very active still. In Black (future) it's no longer active and has filled with Rainwater, ala Archie's plot with Mount Chimney.
Black 2 is not future and White 2 is not past. They are just alternate realities of eachother. White is more intune with nature while Black is much more technologically advanced. The differences in Reversal could easily mean that for White it remains as a volcano-ish place as it naturally should be, while in Black it breaks the mold of what you would expect in nature.

That actually would have worked for me. I'm not sure if the two or linked or not because I didn't pay that much attention to that part of the story so I don't know if it historically fits. But a cool concept none-the-less.

Or they could've shoved a Legendary in there. But then, any time someone asks me how to spice up an area, my response is always "shove a Legendary in there so that I can have more mythology to look at." So my suggestions might be kinda bland.

Does Manaphy have anything to do w/ the King though? I know it's a Sea Guardian and all
I mean I like the concept of putting a legendary there but it would have to fit there

I hated the limited amount of steps and I hated that it was the only place to use Dive. Other than that, I don't mind it as much.

NO! NO! NO! A THOUSAND TIMES NO! I don't want Relic Castle to kick you out too, that'd be stupid.

It wouldn't kick you out. They would have just been connected somehow so you could get to one and the other. Dunno how it would work though
I was responding to Aurawarrior's comment about Relic Castle kicking you out.

Doubtful. It's confusing enough without Ghetsis' notebook, and if there were wild Pokemon in there, it'd be decently long. But if they were worried about you being able to clear it quickly, they should've made it bigger instead.

I think it was fine the way it was. But once you clean it out and sell everything and talk to Zinzolin, its just a place you are never going to go back to. All you're left w/ is a pocket full of cash and some evidence there was a King

Well, no, not really, but it's an aquatic area with connotations of royalty. We've already got the Abyssal King, so why not throw in a Sea Prince?
I mean, setting aside the fact that Manaphy is an event Pokemon.

I think what I disliked about the Ruins wasn't so much about the Ruins themselves, but about the way that you access them. I mean, Hugh gave you the Dive HM so that you could explore them, but once you did that, you had absolutely no reason to keep Dive on one of your Pokemon anymore because it was the only Dive spot in the game. It made the Dive HM seem very superfluous; they could have at least made it a TM so that you could teach over it with minimal effort, or they could've just added some passages that led to the Ruins.
I found it quite interesting that you can hear music from the Hoenn games where the Regi's are and the music of sinnoh in the cave of being. I quite like those things. And I like the fact that Nature Sanctuary is available unlike Sinjoh ruins which needed Arceus.
I am a big fan of pokemon, Pokemon black and white 2 is great!
Pokemon I never got: Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, Manaphy, Shaymin, Darkrai.
Spoiler:- My Games:
Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver, Black, White, Ranger 2, Ranger 3, Mystery Dungeon 2 Time Version, and Super Pokemon Rumble, Pokemon Black 2 and White 2.

I didn't word it properly, but Black versions are more 'Futurey' than white versions, while white is more 'Pastish' so it makes sense that white would have a more young style volcano, while black would have a more future style volcano.
And water filled volcano basins arn't that uncommon, once a volcano goes to sleep, rain water isn't gonna dodge that place.

I get what your trying to say.
I also think White is more pure while Black is industrial. Saying this, I think that they do show signs of their effects on nature

If either the step limitation was removed or there were more places for the player to use Dive in the game, I'd like the Abyssal Ruins a lot more.
As for Relic Castle kicking the player out, I disagree with that, too. Also, I don't think there's any player-expulsion mechanic that's based on time, is there?

This is all because of the fact that in the Black timeline, people embraced technology, expansion and advancement, while in the White timeline, people chose to appreciate the past and to honor traditions. These opposing cases of societal development are both dependent on which of the two brothers took up residence in Relic Castle and, as a result, had more influence over the people. In Black, it was the brother who allied with Zekrom, while in White, it was the brother who allied with Reshiram. Effects of this divergence are seen all over the region; Reversal Mountain, Route 4, Mistralton City, Opelucid City, and obviously Black City/White Forest are all areas in which you can see the effects of the two timelines' opposing histories.
And in each and every one of the above instances, I have always preferred the White timeline's version. :P
