If you were a Gym Leader or Elite Four, what type of pokemon would you use?

My favorite type is Electric, obviously, and I'd probably be a mid to late game gym leader. Since it's 3rd gen, I'm going to go by 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen Pokemon only, so with that in mind, I guess I'd do something like this:

If I were a gym leader I'd stick to Poison Types. I've always liked them. xD Being me, and having my odd Nidoran obsession, I'd use some Nidoran evolutions. Weezing, and Arbok as well.

I always thought I would be a gym leader like Blue was, sort of using Pokemon from his journey, with no exact type preference.
If I had to choose a type it would probably be Dark.
Umbreon, Shiftry, Tyranitar, Houndoom, Sneasel, maybe Crawdaunt, since we are talking Gen III here.

Deciding between Grass, Water, Fire, Ghost, Normal, and Ice is super difficult for me. Just because those are where my favorites lie.
being a grass type leader would be difficult though because it isn't a very defensive type, and the grass type pokemon have little coverage, and poor power. (Generally speaking, I know pokemon like Venasaur and Lilligant dont really fall into that category.) But I wouldn't be a leader with my favorite pokemon, probably with my favorite types which limits it to Normal, Ice, and Ghost.
