I chose red, but technically I didn't because it was a present, for my younger brother. But if I had to choose right now I would still choose red. Why? I prefer the exclusives in red over the ones in blue. And why not yellow? Because I enjoy the Missigno. glitch

I'd choose Yellow, since I love having Pikachu as a starter who will follow me around. Also, you can get all the starters in Yellow.

·It was my first pokemon game.

Spoiler:- BadgeQuests:
I have Red, Blue, and Yellow...so I chose all three!
If I had to pick just one, I'd go with Blue, simply because it's my favourite colour.
Thanks to aclover for the trainer card
I bought Red, because I liked the colour more than Blue. I didn't know any of the differences between the games, but knowing what I know now, I would have bought Blue. The pokemon available in it were better and Porygon was cheaper (the only game ever where Porygon wasn't 9999 coins).

Yes, I'm going to do a Fairy skin for the forum.
I didn't pick the version, but my parents bought Yellow probably because it had Pikachu on the front. My brothers got Red and Blue, respectfully, and since then, they generally went for Fire-starters, or Water-starters. You won't believe how much the boys talk about Charmander and Squirtle when it comes to starter Pokémon.

I have all three but Yellow takes the cake for being able to have all three starters. Mmm, cake...
Yellow because Pikachu was the starter Pokemon.
I got yellow.

Yellow. I bought today, and it is awesome.
I originally got Yellow when it came out back in '99, but I recently sold it and got Blue instead. I actually like Blue better, you have three decent choices of a starter (instead of getting Pikachu, who was horrible at the first gym and overall wasn't the best starter). The game also seems to flow better, and you don't have to deal with Jessie & James (since Red and Blue aren't based on the anime). I'd definitely prefer Red/Blue over Yellow any day.

I got Pokemon Red cause somehow in my 5 year old eyes, Charizard looked friendlier than Blastoise lol. And later I got Pokemon Yellow, which is one of my favorite games ever. I know Pikachu isn't the best starter, but he was so cute, and the way he followed you around just skjhfkdfh too many feels.
I got Red as a present but still prefer it to this day. I agree with it being better than yellow as you don't have to deal with jessie and james and I don't really want a team based around starters and I have no love for pikachu. I wouldn't mind playing green at some point though.
I'd say Blue. To me, Yellow Version is frustrating because Pikachu can't evolve and I always find myself wanting to use all of the starters, which keeps me from using a more creative team. I prefer Blue's version exclusives as well. Growlithe learns Flamethrower significantly later than Vulpix, and also lacks moves like Confuse Ray and Fire Spin. Victreebel gets Wrap and Razor Leaf, whereas Vileplume is stuck with Petal Dance (which actually has less base power than Razor Leaf when you factor in critical hits). Sandslash beats Arbok without question in my opinion, since it actually gets a decent STAB attack soon after you get it (even if it's through TM). Pinsir and Scyther are too late in the game to matter. And lastly, Persian's STAB Slash and fairly versatile movepool make it much more useful than Primeape, which pretty much only gets Normal- and Fighting-type attacks.
I didn't have a choice, my brother had Blue so we shared that until it dawned on us to buy pokemon red, so since Blue originally belonged to my bro, I got red, I liked ekans more than sandshrew anyway.
Gone off the grid to avoid X and Y news. Back in October/November.
Blue, Blastoise was always more awesome than Charizard.

Blue and Red equally, Yellow I don't like much because of how difficult it can be.

I chose red over blue originally, just for the Charizard. I think the mascots had more of an impact back then.
