The reason for that long break is due to the fact that a Game 7 could've still been played. Js, and it lets both teams get some well needed rest.

True..but I'm just not a fan of long breaks. I don't remember which finals it was but there was a week long break before it started. Blah, that was bad. Game 2 is on Saturday. Another break.

I really enjoyed the game today though. I was hoping for a high scoring game but I guess we may not be getting that yet.

I'm kind of disappointed that the Kings are going to (seemingly) win this year. I've been rooting for them to lose for a while now.

The Finals airing on NBC Sports? A shame really. Luckily, I get that channel and it was lovely seeing the Kings lose. Only three more games New Jersey.

I hope the Kings win. It'll make history, first 8th place team to win!

I'm so conflicted about the Kings. They sucked before the playoffs, but they played amazingly in the playoffs, so I find myself wondering: do they deserve this?
I guess if I have to decide, I would say no. Any team can hit a hot streak, the Cup should reward a more consistent team. But then again, the Devils are boring and if the Kings win it will make history, so I guess if they win I'll be fine with it.

Imagine if NJ comes back from being down 3-0 and coming back to win it? Man that would be sweet~ anyways, may be unable to see some of it because I receive Confirmation today, and the dinner function starts at 6-something -_-

Congrats to the Los Angeles Kings!

Kinda felt bad for Brodeur though with all those goals.

I stopped watching when the power play was over. 3-0 in the first? New Jersey was done.

Hoping to somewhat revive this thread here with offseason discussions:

What would be Tim Thomas's motivation to sit out a year an how much does this affect the Bruins's chances in the East?

Being from Boston, I heard a lot about this from either radio or TV. Thomas said he had to "...reconnect with the three F's: friends, family, and faith." Aside from that, the Bruins still have Rask, who is a very good backup. Rask now has the chance to prove himself to the city of Boston and the NHL. Anyways, the NHL Draft is underway, what's your team(s) done so far and what do you want to see them do?

Being in the Philly area, we need defensive help. Not necessarily a goalie because Bryzgalov has been great at the end of the year, but good backups in case Chris Pronger cannot return from his injuries.

Yeah, we have a couple players back over here in Beantown that have been beat up pretty bad in the playoffs. We lose Thomas, and I think Turco may be with them next season as a backup to Rask, so that kinda evens it out. But my favorite team is the Devils. I think their first priority is resigning Parise. Then they may have to keep watch on Brodeur and his limits. Other than that, I think the Devils and Bruins are fine.

So, the first round of the Draft has concluded, but could we still see some big moves made? One of the rumors going around was of Luongo being traded...

Los Angeles won the Cup. I think this Cinderella story is worthy of a big-budget Hollywood movie with an all-star cast.

I'm pretty happy with what my Caps have been doing so far. Getting center Mike Ribeiro is good, I like him and I like his playmaking abilities (not to mention he has had 8 seasons with 50 or more points.) Although losing Cody Eakin in the trade could definitely backfire in a couple years. It seems to be a win-now attitude that I don't want to see the front office developing. We're all hungry for the Cup, but throwing away our future for immediate postseason success is a terrible idea (see: MLB's Boston Red Sox.)
But luckily, we rectified losing Eakin by drafting an even better prospect, Europe's top-rated skater, Filip Forsberg, who at only 17 has huge potential. What a steal! Winger Thomas Wilson is a good choice, too. So far I'm quite pleased--we gained a veteran playmaker and two highly touted prospects.

The Flyers pulled off a nice trade for Luke Schenn for JVR. We were overcrowded up front and needed to replace the aging, fragile Chris Pronger. Plus, now both Schenn brothers are in Philly!

Pens freed up a TON of cap space over the draft. Zack Parise and/or Ryan Suter?
