Yes, but at least they don't have as many glitches. Or, at least more recent ones don't, as far as I see.

Good news is that arceus7 is banned. Doesn't help the fact blaze boy is gone.

Maybe if the western developers were more focused on the quality of the game instead of releasing in time for Chirstmas or whatever this wouldn't happen. Some should take a page from Valve. They aren't the most timely when it comes to releases but their games are almost always of great quality.

Looks like the mods are finally cracking down. Hopefully this thread is next.

That's kind of what I'm saying. If Bethesda's bug testing wasn't "does the disc fit in the drive? ship it /KARP KARP KARP KARP KARP," the games might be more palatable to more people.

Moderation would have made the Misc. one borderline not-drunk.

I know I just plugged these videos in the other thread but this one is particular applies greatly to the Western RPG argument. While JRPGs deliver their own crafted stories some of the more popular Western RPGs (Fable, Mass Effect, Fallout) try a more hands on approach with "moral choice" systems. The video I just linked highlights the failings of those systems. Notably the lack of engagement of the player to the dilemma, how those games fail to make the choices interesting, the design flaws in creating content for each option, and how to fix them.

I'm not saying every JRPG script is solid gold compared to how Western RPGs exclusively use moral choice system because that is nowhere near the case. I'm sure at least some JRPGs have dabbed in failed "moral choice" as well. I do believe that an RPG with a story conceived with a pre-set interesting cast of characters and plot developments is in most cases more engaging than an RPG with fake depth brought on by "moral choice".

I think I can guess why they were banned without even looking.

I'm gonna say that I enjoy WRPGs more. Sure, the storylines might be generally weaker and sometimes lack depth, but the action element involved in them makes you feel like you're more involved in the game. JRPGs are just giving orders and grinding stats, for the most part.

To be perfectly honest, I don't give a damn where the game comes from, so long as it's good.

That's ridiculous. Zibdas is pretty hot

JRPGs are the way to go.

Just don't bring Tales games into the mix. Atlus, now THAT'S a company of insane JRPGs.

It's more a debate over two different genres. Skyrim and the Witcher are WRPGs, but Disgaea and Tales are JRPGs.

I'm pretty sure the thousands of people calling it game of the year last year also like Skyrim. I doubt they're all still playing it at this point though.

I will say that WRPGs have more direct combat than JRPGs but I also enjoy JRPGs that try to make combat more involving than just the standard turn based system. Whether it's the ATB meter in Final Fantasy or the added flair of the timed button presses in the Paper Mario games I think these make what would be mundane more exciting.

In fact the whole Elder Scrolls series is thrash.
This is basically all I see, concerning your opinion on ME and Elder Scrolls:

With the way the game was received people will probably vote it as GOTY in 2015, too

But they just added the Space Core in the PC version! THE SPACE CORE! I BOUGHT 80,000 COPIES JUST FOR THAT! **** YEAH, MEMES FROM GAMES I HAVEN'T COMPLETED!

Maybe they're more exciting, but it's not necessarily good. I'll take EarthBound-style turn-based combat over whatever that cluster**** FF13 had.

I haven't played enough of Earthbound to make that call but I can probably give it the benefit of the doubt.

EarthBound's turn mechanic is extremely simple; all the player characters' actions are chosen, then the actions of the party and the enemies happen in order based on stats (if I recall correctly for the order being based on stats...)
