Thread: Leaf Green Team

    Default Leaf Green Team

I'm doing a run through of leaf green again and just wanted some simple input. I WON'T be doing natures. Any changes are will be considered.

    Charizard@Charcoal
    Blaze
    -Flamethrower
    -Dragon Claw
    -Wing Attack
    -Slash

He's going to be my special attacker. I'm not really sure what moves to teach him outside of Flamethrower and Dragon Claw so his moveset could use alot of help.

    Alakazam@Twisted Spoon
    Synchronize
    -Calm Mind
    -Psychic
    -Recover
    -Shock Wave

Another better special attacker. I think his moves are pretty good the only question is whether to use another attack or to cripple things. Oh and I need help with his item.

    Aerodactyl@?
    Rock Head
    -Fly
    -Double-Edge
    -Earthquake
    -Ancient Power

My physical and speedy attacker. Get in hit first and KO stuff. I Double-Edge to hit anything that doesn't resist for massive power the flying and steel moves are filler and the rock move depends on if anything else on my team would benefit more from it.

    Snorlax@Leftovers
    -Rest
    -Sleep Talk
    -Body Slam
    -Shadow Ball

Hit stuff with Body Slam or Shadowball then rest when low on HP and use Sleep Talk to hit.

    Lapras@Leftovers
    -Surf
    -Thunderbolt
    -Ice Beam/Blizzard
    -Confuse Ray

My other wall. Attacks for nice coverage. Last move is to spread status around.

    Dragonite@Dragon Fang
    -Surf
    -Outrage
    -Thunder Wave/Toxic/???
    -???

A tank. Surf for a solid attack. Outrage to deal good damage and T-Wave or toxic for status.

I also need help deciding which would be better to use Lapras or Vaporeon. Once that is decided I'll post a set for which one I'm using. I also need help deciding on my last pokemon I'm thinking either Tauros or Dragonite and leaning towards Dragonite.

Psychic from Alakazam will do more base damage than 2X Super Effective Shock Wave. It's only good for Water-Flying types, of which there aren't many. I would keep Thunder Wave; it can work nicely with a switch to Snorlax. I've tried that before, and it works wonders. Try giving it a Twistedspoon; think Charcoal but for Psychic type moves. And frankly, in my experience Recover can be very underused on Alakazam. Now I really love Alakazam, so I kind of know what I'm saying, but that's just my opinion. I usually stick with Psybeam in case Psychic's PP is running low.
Rock Slide on the Aerodactyl, it's the strongest and it's accuracy isn't too bad. I would go with Steel Wing; Iron Tail's accuracy bugs me, despite the extra power. That's just an opinion, though; either one works. Not sure which item to give it, though; maybe a Lum Berry if you happen to have any, or whichever berry heals paralysis if you want to save the Lum Berry. It will make sure Aerodactyl stays fast.
Between Lapras and Vaporeon, I always, ALWAYS choose Lapras. I like the Ice Beam+Surf+Thunderbolt combination. The last move is more free space; I'd recommend Blizzard, Hydro Pump or Confuse Ray, depending on if you prefer offense or setting up.
For you two, one I like to use Hitmonlee. Earthquake, Brick Break, High Jump Kick and Rock Slide are usually what I go with. But if you're intent on sticking ot one of the two listed above, definately Dragonite.
Strangely, I've found that, once you get Sludge Bomb, Victreebell can be amazing. Sunny Day+Solarbeam is stellar, as well as it's ability, doubling speed in sunshine. Sludge Bomb and Giga Drain for good measure.
Hope I helped, and good luck with the team!!

Charizard's got a pretty awful special movepool. But, Flamethrower and Dragon Claw do give unresisted coverage up to this Gen.

    Charizard
    ~ Flamethrower
    ~ Dragon Claw
    ~ Wing Attack / Fly
    ~ Metal Claw / Slash

I listed some lvl up moves on the last slot. Really, they're just filler moves, though Metal Claw is useful in the first gym.

    Alakazam
    ~ Calm Mind
    ~ Psychic
    ~ Recover
    ~ Fire Punch

You can get Fire Punch by breeding with Hitmonchan, who you can acquire in-game
Alternatively, you can also use a all out attacking set.

    Alakazam
    ~ Psychic
    ~ Thunderpunch
    ~ Ice Punch
    ~ Fire Punch

All the elemental punches you can get through breeding with male hitmonchan (make sure your Abra-line evolution is female)

    Aerodactyl
    ~ Ancientpower
    ~ Fly
    ~ Double-Edge
    ~ Earthquake

    Basic moveset

    Snorlax is fine.
