OVGD's Top 100 Games of all Time

The two games per franchise thing really killed me with Mario and Pokemon. But there it is, with #1 being my favorite. I decided to make the decision between #2 and #1 very quickly without shredding my mind apart.

Going through all my old games really got me thinking of how much I used to enjoy them. I just might go back to Backyard Soccer, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, and NBA Live 06!

I think B2/W2 are different enough for their own nomination, then again I don't know much about them. I don't think they'll end up having enough points for the default list anyways.

Wait, I'm looking at some lists and I'm seeing multiple Mario games, like 2 Mario Karts and 2 Marios. Can I do that too?

Also, as for the argument going on before with the Minish Cap: It should not count. They are all Zelda games.

The whole "Series" thing also shouldn't count. It really only works for Pokemon generations (ex: Red/Blue/Yellow).

Also, could I have 2 main series Pokemon games and also have 2 spin-offs like Snap and Puzzle League?

The results went a little differently than expected. There are way too many ties. Oh well, this isn't supposed to be the final list anyways. This is what we've got to fix up:

You do realize that its the top 100 and we only have 70 games.

I'm kinda really disappointed. I was hopeing we would have more varied taste as a community. Instead its pretty much Nintendo games for the 1st 50 games lol and most of them are from Pokemon which is not surprising considering the forum we are on.

Some games I'm wondering how they got on the list but thats my personal opinion.

Correction there are easily over a hundred games on that list, they're just 70 point values listed, look at how many ties there were. No one said it had to be tie-breaker competitions.

There are actually 285 games on the list that I sorted through. I combined Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles as Sonic 3 & Knuckles, I hope that's okay with everyone.

I honestly was not expecting this many ties. Ranks 1-50 contain 118 games maybe we can work from that? I really want to hear everyone's ideas on what to do from this point so we can agree on something fair.

I don't think this being a Pokemon forum had anything to do with it. Pokemon is a legit good game.

How about taking care of big franchises first (Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, etc...), because essentially every core title Pokemon game is on that list. Then we could go from bottom to top, weeding out the weaker games.

Do you want a limit on the the number of entries per series again? I say if the limit is in place either there should be a set number or can be dependant upon the number of enteries.

Yeah but you know something is going on when 4 generations were nominated and most of the gens are in the top 50.

As for the 70 games thing I said before, please disregard it. I wasn't looking closely enough to realize that there were more than 70 games and it was based on points.

I do agree with shadow wolf that we should weed out the weaker games. However it should be top to bottom imo. Because we can get the big games and most of the arguments out of the way. People will rage if one of their favorite games are lowered to the bottom bracket. I think it would be easier to put a top 25 together really fast anyways. Imagine arguing about which game is number 100 on OVGD's list, meaning which game barely makes it to the bottom of the barrel.

Also I really would like a limit on the number of entries per series. Although Pokemon/Halo/Zelda/etc games are awesome, I don't think they all belong in the top 100 games of all time.

Limit to 2 or 3 per series is my opinion. Games like Zelda should have 1 from the 8/16 bit era and 1 for the 3-D era.

Interesting note: The top 100 stops at Fallout unless I counted wrong.

Wow. I'm REALLY surprised that TES IV: Oblivion and Fallout: New Vegas and ~~TES I: Arena~~ <-hahahaha, no. weren't on the list ~~although me voting would have helped them~~ and Runescape is higher than Portal. Judging by the large influx of ties and some games being highly ranked due to one voter(sorry jb, you're the only one who likes Tales of Phantasia), this could have used more time.

Also, wasn't the Zelda Formula WW>OoT=MM>the rest or something? Because I chuckled seeing those three games in the top 10.

I saw the list and appreciate the time and dedication you put into it. I'm aware it's unfinished, but I noticed a mistake. Well, my mistake too.

I was the only one that voted for Mario Superstar Baseball, but it got only 6 points. It was #6 on my list, so it should have gotten 19 points or whatever. Backyard Soccer, my least favorite of the 25, should have gotten 1 point, but it got 25 instead.

I put my list with the same numbers in everyone else but I put it in "getting better" order rather than "getting worse" order. If you want, I will gladly fix your list myself and re-adjust my games' points.
