For the question about trading pokemon with HM moves...as soon as I got one badge I traded over a pokemon that knew surf (because I wanted to access the ranch grotto) and I could even surf outside of battle with only one badge.

Hey so, if I were to accidentally KO one of N's pokemon (his Darmanitan used Belly Drum followed by thrash and KO'd itself in confusion) would they reappear eventually or does that just suck for me?

It's possible to receive Challenge Mode from a Black 2 player who has unlocked it. You must be near them, though, due to the keys being sent through IR.

Where exactly is the IV judge in White 2? I've heard the guy moved from the Battle Subway to Castelia City, but it's a pretty big city, so.

Oh and is the gender for the hidden grotto pokemon soft-resetable?

I thought he was moved to the World Tournament?

No, it's set as soon as it's generated I believe.

Is there a way to farm blue and red shards besides constantly forfeiting the PWT? Those are random and the funfests only give out yellows and greens.

In BW1, you can. But in BW2, I'd going to say possible, but I don't have the game yet to confirm it..

I should point out that the levels of Pokémon encountered while surfing may be very high for a team that just completed the first gym.

According to the main site, the IV judge is still in the Battle Subway.

Habitat. Bianca gives it to you... as you're passing through Floccesy after getting your first badge if memory serves me right. If you've gotten it, just open the dex and there will be two buttons in the lower left corner, one that says Unova, and another that says Habitat.

You can trade with BW as soon as you unlock the ability to trade, which occurs when the C-Gear is obtained after the first badge.

Funfest Missions give out all of them I believe. There's a few that give them out too. I did "Find Treasures!" and I'm pretty sure I was able to get at less one of each colour. They are in dust clouds regardless, so either way you should be able to just go around a cave and eventually pick them up.

I think the highest I've encountered yet is a lvl 14 basculin. Could be a team killer if you can't out-speed it to run away or can't endure its attacks long enough to defeat it. This is probably already covered on serebii's info but if you go back to your home town and surf through the water you'll get the energy ball tm . And route 20 surfing will get you a waterstone.


Hidden grotto question...so every 256 steps there is a 5% chance that the grotto will be regenerated. Does taking more steps increase the percentage? I'm wondering if its best to walk around for longer than 256 steps before checking the grotto, or just checking the grotto every 256 steps?

About the Muskateers... Are the battles optional? Or do you HAVE to battle them the first time they available for battling? I'm asking because I kinda want to soft reset for Shiny Muskateers later on...

You don't have to battle them right away.
I completed Black 2 months ago and have never battled them. They'll just keep waiting on the route they're on until you talk to them.
