Hidden Grotto Discussion Thread

I've been pretty lucky with my hidden grotto hunts. I've found a cubchoo, a corsola, chatot, a Bibarel, a Lombre, a Pelliper and a 1% medicham on my version. I'm still looking for that Drought Vulpix and that poliwhirl!

Best nature for Imposter Ditto is Sassy, preferably with a 31 HP/SpD IV, and 0 Spe.

I understand the desire for high hp, since that is the only stat that isn't adopted from your opponent, but aren't all of the other stats pointless since they will be copied in a battle?

I still haven't found that Ditto, but the Route 3 grottoes were awful nice to me last night. I finally found that Pachirisu I've been looking for forever, and the other grotto had Bibarel waiting for me.

From what I've heard, there is a 1 in 20 chance of something spawning in a grotto every 256 steps.

It is in the case when Imposter Ditto faces another Imposter Ditto. The slowest Ditto wins. Thus the reason for the 0 Speed IVs. But yeah, the other stats except for HP and Speed are pretty pointless.

The reason for 31 SpD is in the off chance you end up against a Zoroark, you don't die immediately. That's why people EV train Ditto in HP/SpD. 0 Spe is for Ditto vs Ditto, so you hopefully struggle last.

been looking for vulpix for four days now... it's starting to get a tad demoralizing. i've found two male amoonguss and nothing more exciting than a super potion when it comes to items. is this a lost cause without the pass power (which i can't get =/)?

Finally found a DW Vulpix, for it to be a male...and according to Serebii Dex, chances for Male are 25% compared to Female which is 75%...urghh...

the male/female percentages are different for HG pokemon (probably because the hidden abilities are breedable through females). it's usually a 30% chance of getting a girl.

Every time I've entered a Hidden Grotto in the past two weeks, I always find a Combee waiting for me.

Oh yeah, I didn't even consider that.

They should've really made alternate Dream World art for Pokémon whose female and male variants look drastically different (Unfezant and Jellicent, yeah, but also Combee, Wooper, and Wobbuffet). :/

Congrats! I've yet to get a female Vulpix with the right IV's and nature, but since that's so hard to get, I'll probably just settle on the first female Vulpix I get. (:

They should make a Global Link update just to add in some artwork, if anything. If I recall correctly, there's art for each individual Arceus variant.

If I'm not mistaken, individual artwork for each gender (at least for Frillish, Jellicent, Combee and Unfeazant, exists), so it's just a case of Gamefreak being lazy.

Everything has artwork, as far as I know, so it's not an issue.
