Guys, I don't know if it's going to happen in the movie or in the anime, but one thing is sure about any doubt: Before the start of Generation VI, Mewtwo is going to return and meet Ash once again. Let me once again remember you the several reasons to have his return insured:
- Between the moves introduced in Generation V, we have "Psystrike", a move that can only be learnt by Mewtwo and it has become his "trademark" move. What's the point of introducing a trademark attack for an old Pokemon? Unless, of course, they are planning to bring it back and take the chance to make the move debut in the anime. Whenever Mewtwo returns, I'm sure we will see him using Psystrike as one of his attacks.
- Ever since his last appearance in the special "Mewtwo Returns", we have seen Mewtwo in several cameos from the openings of the anime and the movies. In most of them, Mewtwo appears marauding through a city similar to New York, at the moonlight and wearing a brown cape. We have seen that Unova have some cities similar to that, like Castelia City and the Black City. So it's very possible that Mewtwo had been in Unova all this time long, therefore is the perfect chance to make him have another encounter with Ash and Pikachu.
- Just like Mewtwo, Genesect is another "Legendary Pokemon" artificially created by evil men (the bad guys of the region) as the "ultimate weapon" for world conquest. If Mewtwo discover this, I'm pretty sure he won't be happy at all; maybe because he can't accept more Pokemon suffering in the same way he did after being created. So, Mewtwo will join forces with Ash's team to stop Team Plasma (and possibly Team Rocket too) once and for all; making them cease to "play God with Pokemon" and creating living Pokemon just for weapons.

Don't you think these are enough reasons to assure Mewtwo's return?

I agree with the things you've said here, i listed things a while back too and we've had a few more pieces of merch with Mewtwo since:

Anime Reasons:

-Team Rocket have had a rivalry with Team Plasma this saga.
-Team Rocket created Mewtwo, Team Plasma modified Genesect. Both Pokemon hold similarities in their background being tampered with by villanous teams to become stronger, they have both been genetically enhanced.
-Giovanni finally returned this saga, after his last major plot being 'Mewtwo Returns' every scheme up until BW that Giovanni had involved Mewtwo.
-Genesect, like Mewtwo seems to also be getting an anime role alongside it's Movie role.
-The last place Mewtwo was seen (End of Mewtwo Returns, beginning of Movie 6) was atop a huge skyscraper in a location that looks almost identical to Castelia City which was labelled as 'far far away' at the time. Obviously it was never intended, but at this moment in time it could work really well in terms of making sense for Mewtwo to reappear, instead of randomly in another place
-Movie 16's setting looks very similar to Mewtwo's previous location.

Game Reasons:

-Mewtwo was finally given a signature move in Gen V, Psystrike.
-(Minor Reason) Mewtwo was distributed across wifi almost a year ago, much like Deoxys now.

Other Reasons:

-We've had 3/4 new pieces of merchandise with Mewtwo in the past three months, one of them being tied with Genesect merchandise.
-A year ago, Mewtwo was promoted in the Psycho Drive TCG packs with Kyurem. Nothing too special but the artwork for Mewtwo featured him in a city almost identical to Castelia.

Don't give up hopes for Mewtwo just yet. Just this weekend if CoroCoro will possibly unveil a new XY Pokémon to be a star for the Genesect movie or only XY Pokémon that are like Munchlax/Mime Jr./Bonsly/Weavile/Chatot/Mantyke/Buizel. Remember that the Regi trio were not mentioned in Movie 8 news back in early 2005 until February,and remember that the other star in the Zoroark movie was Zoura. SO Mewtwo would likely will have the same thing. There might be something different as well as the Movie might be the Team Rocket VS Team Plasma revived into a Movie that will surprise the fans.

I don't think this bodes well.

Coro-Coro would be released two Sundays for this information, wouldn't Pokémon Smash have something the Sunday after information would be released in Coro-Coro, waiting more than a week to reiterate information that was revealed in Coro-coro kind of seems pointless. I mean I get that people don't have access to Coro-Coro, or internet sites, but someone couldn't really be watching Pokémon Smash for the first time and think it would be brand new information. Unless they are a recluse of some kind.

But I guess February will focus more on X and Y rather than the movie, even if the movie has a 6th gen Pokémon.

Still, the whole situation does seem a bit off to me.

I guess it's possible that Coro-Coro would only reveal possible 6th generation Pokémon for this movie, and maybe some screenshots of said Pokémon in the movie, and perhaps a blurb about it's role, then Pokémon Smash could have trailer, or even possibly movie plot information not found in coro coro. I guess it's possible.

The February 17th episode will have movie information as well, though its main theme will be the short. If there's some big announcement in Corocoro, like the full title of the movie (which is extremely likely), that'll be covered in the Feb 17 episode. The Feb 24 episode won't have "some possible new information", it's going to be an episode completely devoted to the main movie, like the Feb 17 episode will be devoted to the short.

It bodes extremely well, actually.

Why do I still have a feeling that the hidden title might be Team Rocket VS Team Plasma VS Extremespeed Genesect?
That or Mewtwo possible along with the Gen VI Protagonist Pokémon will appear to try calm down the Genesect army!

...I don't know why? Maybe because the opening showed a Team Rocket VS Team Plasma scene and the Genesect army appeared during it!

Or "Team Plasma & ExtremeSpeed **Genesect", "N & ExtremeSpeed **Genesect" (this is just cool......well).

Due they have been using "VS" as a title last year.

I think they no use "VS" as the title again this year.

Anyway we will know the answer soon.

Well, the time has almost come. Within the next day or three we'll have CoroCoro and most of the movie's secrets will be unveiled.

A few months ago I actually thought this would be our introduction to Gen 6 much like Zoroark's reveal for Gen 5.

Anyone think that the co-star might be Fennekin's evo? I'm not just saying this because I'm a Fennekin fan, but i've been thinking about it and it all makes sense now!


-Most people suspect a Psychic bipedal canine. Fennekin's speculated to be Fire/Psy, and all the fire types last gen were bipedal. (Foxxy Zoroark's a bump in the road, though)
-It's fire moves would give it a fair role in any combat scenes w/ the One DirectionSects, along with Pignite, Charizard and Dragonite (If they appear)
-Foxes tend to stumble into urban places (But then agian, it's a FENNEC Fox, who lives in a desert)
-Blazikien, another Fire Starter evo, was put in to the anime only a few months after it's first form to promote it's games.
-Maybe it's just minding it's business, but the Genesects disturb it's family? Maybe like 2 final evos + 3Fennekin vs. 1 DirectionSects?

So we're getting new info next week, along with X and Y stuff (new pokemon please!). Anyway I was looking at the teaser poster and I noticed a shooting star next to Genesect and I had thought: What if the new details have something to do with the shooting star, is it a unknown pokemon from X and Y, Deoxys even or just a random effect. It's confirmed that the movie star will be a new pokemon. The reason is that in the preview of next episode of Pokemon Smash, the logos of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are above while the logos of the Genesect movie and the Eevee short are behind.

That (almost) confirms that at least two pokemon will be revealed in Febraury in CoroCoro. But you need to take account on the fact that the Genesect part of merchandise features two hidden pokemon.

There will be between 2 and 4 new pokemon in this issue. And because new Eeveelutions are almost confirmed, the Eevees will be the first new pokemon related to a pre-existing one since Gen IV.

They're confirmed to have different types of Techno Blast at least. And they don't seem to specialise in anything, except Red Genesect (whom I shall call Sec), who is the fastest.

I predicted Genesect vs. Mewtwo with a Gen VIer taking the role like the Munchlax in Movie 7, or maybe it will come out and mediate the fight a la Darkrai in Movie 10. Doesn't have to necessarily be legendary though.
