I'm pretty sure that they do count as foreign pokemon as one of the previous games had a gift German Magikarp given to the player at some point.

Congrats on the Poochyena and the Tirtouga! Kinda suprised that you don't like Carracosta but ah well...I suppose he isn't quite as cute as Tirtouga lol

Also, I usually turn my game off and yes, GermanXUS English is compatible with MMing though I'm pretty sure the German Magikarp that you get in game doesn't work for MMing does it?

No, the German ingame Magikarp does not help with MM. It is generated in an English game, not a german game, so it isn't.

Excellent, Tirtouga rocks! Keep at it all of you.

Should I start SR for kyerum first or to SR for mareep first?
I am determind to get kyerum shine, but mareep is as cute.
    What do you think?

    Good luck to all!
Congratulations on the Audino, Pooch, Cradily, and ... Trapinch? Is that all? I hope so, because I'll feel mighty bad if I forgot anyone! No, it's not all ... That Tirtouga, too!

The thing that motivates me is getting that shiny. In the past, looking at the sprite and seeing shiny videos would inspire me, but I think that now I just feel that if I really want one, I just get to hunting it because I know it will eventually appear at some point. I tend to hunt relentlessly, time permitting of course. For my latest shiny, Giratina, I spent every spare moment SRing because I knew that it could appear at any time, and I wanted to SR as much as I could in order to get the best results.

I just always make sure I have something to distract me now, like my ipod or DVDs or youtube vids, or whatever. If not, that's when it gets very tedious and monotonous and you tire of it very easily, but if you just place the DS to the side and only focus on it when you really need to, then you're free to do a whole lot of other things.

I think that's why I particularly like MM, as you are not in danger of running or fleeing or KOing a shiny Pokemon, and can spend a lot of time not even looking at the screen.

In the beginning, I didn't think I could find a shiny to save my life, but I know I can now, so it's more about not giving up and keeping myself distracted and not letting it consume me so much.

Of course, we all have our moments, too, where it just gets very frustrating or whatever ... that's just being human. I find that if I'm feeling a bit nuts about it all, I vent to someone who actually knows what it's like, and they should be understanding and encouraging. So, yeah, if you're feeling down about it, you should be able to come here if you don't have anyone you know and vent a little. I can't speak for everyone, but I think that one of the reasons for these topics, isn't it? To not only post our successes, but to get that encouragement or motivation from people who understand what you're experiencing.

It's sort of silly to think that this is all for a different coloured sprite, but I know how cool I think they are, and it gives me something else to do in the game long after I've finished the main quest and post game stuff.

I've put the charmander mission on hold and switched to my 2 Japanese Growlithes. Hopefully a shiny pops out of these 60 eggs.

EDIT: Just to clarify as I've seen conflicting reports on multiple fansites.. MM only requires one foreign parent right?

Yes, although you can use two foreign parents as long as they're not from the language.

Thanks for the well wishes, all!

As for Carracosta - I don't really like him because his sprite is incredibly boring compared to his original sprite.

I LOVE the blueish green that my shiny Tirtouga is, but the dark blue color on the shell of the Carracosta looks too similar (in my opinion) to the original sprite. I wish they would have kept the blue/green color on Carracosta, but oh well - I guess I'll just have to enjoy the color while he's still a Tirtouga.

I never, ever, ever rename my Pokemon, but I'm seriously contemplating naming the Tirtouga 'Crush", in reference to one of the funniest turtles I've ever seen. Does anyone know the reference?

Good luck to all. After I finish EV training Tirtouga I'm going to focus on my next target...

    Hi guys

Wow finally I get to see @YNCRN's secret MM hunt, congrats on Tirtouga. You are totally right, I don't like Carracosta's shiny colours at all, it looks so similar to the regular one. I live in a country where taking care of turtles is very important so I've always wanted to hunt for a shiny Tirtouga, my conflict is that I like to evolve every pokémon I have and that can evolve... maybe I will MM for two Tirtougas, one to evolve and one to stay Tirtouga by my side forever, Congrats @YNCRN, and of course I know the reference, is one of my favorites characters from all the times, Crush rules... totally

I like what you said @Zane Clarthy, my motivation as well is to see the pokémon I want so much shine, and like many hunters to pass the time I watch live shiny encounter on youtube or just TV, the Olimpic Games help me a lot, i like to see the swimming competitions -Michael Phelps is my hero-

Congrats guys on all your succesful hunts and good luck to every one else hunting this special creatures

Gratz on all shinies! (Audino, Poocheyana, Tirtouga, and some others, sorry if I missed you.)

Still MM'ing for Absol. 5 eggs hatched -_- I have 1 and a half boxes of eggs boxed up. I was going to collect a ton of eggs last night but my cable was out so I had absolutely nothing to do while collecting eggs, which made me go insane.

Then on a side note I also had a huge fight and my phone stopped working and I got mad so I mashed the keys on my keyboard and now my laptop is improperly configured and my screen is messed up. I then had a huge panic attack and listened to angry music.

All in all, it was hard to concentrate on MM, quite the rough night =p

I am busy all day today with various work and things I must get done, so I won't be MM'ing until all of that is out of the way.

I think the moral of the story is: Don't MM when your cable is out.

I usually leave my games in sleep mode when not REing, but sometimes they die when i forget to charge them, and thats when i usually get my shiny, when i reboot and do a couple hundred encounters

Just learned that the Eevee from XD can be shiny. So I am going to SR for that while I am REing on White 2 on route 14. Currently only up to about 200 REs.

"Squirt" would be better because Squirt is ADORABLE!

Anyways, hatching away at my Sneasel eggs. Hoping to finish hatching my 15 boxes today so I can start collecting more if my pink Sneasel doesn't shine in this batch! I have found that I have a LOT of targets once I get the ones in my sig. I might just make them secret until I get them. Good luck everyone!

Edit: And congrats Crimson on the Vullaby! I am sorry you didn't get Heatmor like you wanted, but hey, it's still a good shiny! I hope to hunt for a Rufflet someday to get a gorgeous Braivary.

@Jessara, doodlecloud and AquaRegisteel fisrt thank you for answering my question and it was the answer I was hoping for now only thing need figure out if I should start MMing on my white now or wait for BW2 to come out with the shiny charm since its faster that way. Also @AquaRegisteel wasn't talking about the German Magikarp from DPt but some trades I made on GTS just incase if your wondering and congrats on your new shiny Vullaby and wish your luck on continued search for a shiny Heatmor.

Still hatching eevee eggs... what's the most efficient way of hatching? I found that if I collect a bunch then just hatch five at a time but replace one a daycare egg each time one hatches I never realy run out while im running around. anyways nobody ever answered with an opinion so i'll keep hatching eevee's then once I get umbreon to lv 100 i'll do solosis

Sorry for the pic being blurry my laptop was making everything to bright.

Congrats on all the shinies, ill be doing a tirtouga hunt later on. Yeah dont care for carracostas shiny form either.

@Claus, I must have missed your question but Eevee / Umbreon has a nicer shiny than Solosis IMO. (Solosis family is still nice shiny, but I like Eevee better)
edit - found the post, why would people think the eevee was hacked?
@hellothisismuffin, when the egg hatches you will see if it's shiny or not. If you breed things that have similar normal and shiny forms, you might have to double check by going into the summary and looking for the red star next to where the markings are.
@ ChaChi, congrats! always nice to run into a shiny by accident =)

that's right, you have to wait until it hatches and you can see the pokemon itself
