Okay, and where did I say he needed one? "Need" is another one of those words that thrown around a lot. Oshawott NEEDS to evolve, Snivy NEEDS to evolve, so-and-so doesn't NEED X pokemon.

I dont hate the pokemon I actually quite like it but I would prefer ash not get anything else and there are pleanty of pokemon I would prefer cilan to get over it

Those are the most popular choices, due to all the appearances/merchandising, but who knows… maybe the writers are trolling us and/or Ash will get the umpteenth "Pokémon who evolves in the next Gen" before the ending of Gen 5…

In all honesty I have no problems with Ash getting one more Pokémon before the League. Only to reach Top 8, if they follow the 64 participants standard, he'll have to face at least four opponents and the matches will probably be 3v3 (the first two rounds) and 6v6 (from 3rd round onward), with a minimum of 18 Pokémon used (24 if he reaches Top 4, 30 if he reaches the Semifinals and 36 if he reaches the Finals). Even if Ash catches one more Pokémon I doubt the actual ones will get shafted (unless he uses the Oaked Pokés, but I hope he doesn't do that). Every Pokémon caught in Unova has a chance to appear at least once during the League.

Long story short, I approve one more capture from Ash's part (and some movesets improvements and evolutions, if possible) and I really, really hope that Cilan catches a new Pokémon. At least one.

That's a fair point, it's all good to say things like "Lapras should get a pre-evo, and Eevee will probably end up with another." But what's to say they won't pull off another Black and White and have strictly new Pokémon/evolution lines.

Yeah, but if there are going to be new pre-evos/evos there is a good chance that Ash will get Aipom 2.0… and you know what? I'm not really looking for that. I'd rather see him bringing Pikachu and another Pokémon that DOESN'T have a 6th Gen evolution while keeping his rotation system (possibly better handled) instead of seeing another complete reset.

(Un)luckily, we can't do anything about that. Let's see what the writers have in mind for the characters' destinies.

Agreed. And the writers have no say in gen 6, it is all gamefreak, they will take the pokemon gamefreak gives them and do what they want in the anime

Gible would be great, but I doubt the writers will do that. However who knows… the writers may surprise us.

I would like any new Eeveelution, but they would have to make a dog/cat-like Dragon Pokemon, I see that being hard to do. But, they'll make one I hope.
