The theme of Merchandise. I wonder why the writers don't just make Ash's entire team popular. Heck, they did it with Oshawott. Some more effort in their personality and battles would help.

I want to see a group shot of six of Ash's Pokemon out at one time. It usually is Pikachu, Pignite, Snivy, Oshawott, Scraggy, and a reserve. How about Palpitoad and it could use its long tongue to steal some of Cilan's Stunfisk's food and then Stunfisk could shock the whole group except Palpitoad wouldn't be affected and he would laugh at Stunfisk lol.

That is a good idea but he is the bossy and manipulative type so he would have stunfisk and/or Oshawott to go steal other Pokemon's food for himself. It is still not too late to show him doing this.

A personality he has had since the beginning but although that made him popular, the writers didn't do it. It's the fans that latched onto that. They could of gave any pokemon the same personality but that doesnt mean it would be as popular

Ash isn't getting an Eevee...its just being promoted a lot.

No, when Gen 5 was first leaked, the starters were after Zorua/Zoroark. People thought they were ugly, Gamefreak, ran oit of ideas, attacks and Rule 34 of Hilda, Gen 5 had what I called Sonic Unleashed moment. It took time for many to love Gen 5, yes we still have haters like those who attack Oshawott, but this Gen still pulled through.

Well in the Dub fandoms it bombed, but it was sucessful enough in Japan to warrant creating a clone of him through moneymaru. (they have almost identical body types save the faces as well). And I loved Piplup and evenhad a nickname for him back then(pimplup) but since he's off the show its just not worth it anymore. I'll probably do the same for an pokemon in the next gen who got a drastically inflated role for the sake of marketing.XDDD

Piplup and OSHAWOTT/MUJIMARU are not the same and marketing has nothing to do with Oshawott's popularity. Japan loved him ob spot english he and gen 5 are still earning their keep.

I was one of the people who usually uses merchandise to predict stuff but this is getting ridiculous, you guys have no common sense, its like everything that gets a toy is a talk of 3 pages around here and then it doesn't get caugth and people whine about it.

Very few. there's a toy set that features upcoming pokemon in the anime. But pretty much everything else (posters,calendars,lunch boxes, pencil cases etc) they just pick popular pokemon so it will sell better. things like that have no basis on the anime whatsoever

Piplup and Oshawott look incredibly similar. I have thought that ever since I first saw Oshawott. Its an uglier Piplup. You'd have thought given the similarity of the two would have led the writers to treat them very differently to avoid straight rehashing of Piplup but instead went even further by making them clones of each other in personality; selfish, screenhogging, attention-seeking, non-evolving water-type starter with a baby blue/white design. Identical- give or take a beak/shell.

My predicted team: (what Ash would have if he were an even semi-competant trainer {anime/= games whiners SHUT UP!})

Raichu- Never going to happen despite the much superior design and strength and the popularity of Pikachu with Japanese 5 year old girls. The writers are Marketing Prostitutes after all.
Unfezant- Already happened, but i'd forgive you for not knowing it because you missed its 2 or 3 appearances in this form.
Samurott- Nope because the writers are Marketing Prostitutes. Samurott again has a much superior design and moveset but the aforementioned 5 year old girl target audience clearly don't share the feelings on hideously ugly otter-clowns with personality disorders as the English equivalent demographic who are terrified of them.
Emboar- Its ugly but do any of us not evolve our pokemon on our games for any reason? Other than, of course, those who wish to spread the 'strong enough in my puny little runt stage' propaganda.
Serperior- It has a better moveset and much serperior design to Snivy, but no, the writers are a bunch of plonkers that think a two-inch tall newt with legs will suffice in a competition of the greatest trainers in a region.
Scrafty- Might evolve but probably at the end. of the saga. The writers wouldn't want to give a pokemon development too fast otherwise we might start to expect some development at all for a non-starter. Heaven forbid!
Leavanny- Evolved, but due to not being a starter never seen.
Siesmitoad- Hahhaha, does Juniper train Ash's pokemon for him? I mean that's the only way it could have evolved, right?
Gigalith- Ash trade and then trade back? We did that once before, but that was Kanto when we did things a bit differently, I mean it would have to have happened in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh to consider doing it again. Otherwise it would fit it with the rest of our writing.
Krookodile- Evolved and seen fairly regularly. So, when is it being released?

Ash you can see, my view of the saga or the writers isn't that high.
