I have to agree with Kira. I mean the thing was even the main character for the new mystery dungeon games...its popularity is pretty much on par with piplup and we all know how that ended.

If they aren't going to evolve it, I would just prefer for an anti-evolution episode instead of leaving it open for speculation.

Oshawott isn't evolving because:

- Kira says so
- Kira told me to say so

But honestly, it would be miraculous if he evolves at this stage plus even if he should evolve, I don't see what Ash can gain from it when everything is ending soon. Better stay that way.

It's always nice to see such loving support for Oshawott. You made an excellent point about his evolution being redundant since Ash wouldn't gain much from it. Like I said before, there's always a chance that Oshawott evolving would lead to another Torterra, and we all know how dreadful that would be. I just don't want Ash to end up with any more bad Pokemon. I cry myself to sleep sometimes thinking about how things would turn out if Ash's best Pokemon were treated like a scrub upon evolving. No Pokemon should suffer that fate. I want peace and harmony to reign among Ash's Pokemon.

i know this is video game related, but since kotetsu and stephans full teams havent been revealed (and trips fully evoled team hasnt been shown either) it could be interestingly anime related too.

aside from that...are we sure they aren't just gonna use their full teams, and mix and match them in the tournament?
Like virgil chooses 3 out his 8 eevee/eeveelutions for each match...they do that for the champions and such...lol

Wait. I just got a flashback to 2008/2009 when people were claiming the exact same thing about Dawn's Piplup; that he would continue to sell merchandise even if he evolved. Now I've returned to the present, and I've noticed that Dawn's Piplup is still a Piplup. Hmm, what a strange case of déjà vu.

What I'm trying to say is that the writers feared that Piplup's evolution would drop his sales, and that's why he's still with us today. Oshawott is just as popular as Piplup, so they're not going to take a big chance and evolve him. They need to keep their wallets full.

But when Piplup wasn't on the show, did it's merchandise have poor sales?

Yeah Serperior is weird, actually the one I like of the three is Samurott, it really looks like the only one that had effort put into it. Emboar looks weird around the face, Serperior is all wrong especially in the face. The only one who is balanced and for the most part perfect, is Samurott.

But ya know, it's just my opinion, whatever.

Seriously while Serperior is my favorite of 5th gen starters, If I had to choose which Pokémon I was going to get based on that photo alone, it would be Samurott.

Don't know why you say that, Emboar is pretty detailed and to me out of the 3 is the only one that actually looks like he evolves from Pignite, unlike the other two that don't even seem to evolve from their middle stage.

YES! I really hope Axew evolves. It should! Iris is a dragon master + Axew always wanted to evolve into its final form which was revealed in one of the first few episodes. Also, I always had a dream where Axew & Scraggy are in a double battle but they are both struggling. Then they BOTH end up evolving and winning the battle. That would be epic. Hopefully the writers have something similar in mind...

Axew and scraggy evolving together...dat's a fab idea! Personally and honestly speaking, even i had the same idea in mind...

No, i don't think its merchandise sale went down. But the return of Dawn's Piplup during BWS2 series did increase the merchandise sale of Piplup by a highly significant amount.

The same would apply for Oshawott as well. When it leaves Ash's main team for the next gen, the company would definitely bring it back again after some time to increase the merchandise sale for Oshawott.
But if they evolve Ash's Oshawott they won't be able to do that anymore and the only choice they would have is to add another Oshawott to the show to replace Ash's.
Also the best part about Ash's Oshawott not evolving is that the company can easily bring it back from time to time (or for a long duration) to increase its popularity, since Ash is the main character for the series and isn't going anywhere.
Where as the chance of other characters like Dawn with her Piplup appearing in the show again is much less because they where part of an previous gen/region and have already started to travel separately (and they have to use other characters from the present gen/region as well). So, even if they are brought back, it won't be for a long duration.

The only thing i fear now is that the company doesn't start to give out a lot of cute starter pokemons to Ash because if say in one of the future gens all the basic stage starters become as popular as Piplup or Oshawott are now then none of them would be evolving (almost like the present Unova saga, but atleast Tepig evolved in here).
