Why would Iris get a Charmander egg? specially from Ash's Charizard, is her birthday coming soon or something?

The scrafty from the opening is not showed yet in the anime, I hope this foreshadows Scraggy's imminent evolution.

He is a dragon not a dragon type, dragon master ingame use him, dragon related art and merchandise has Charizard appearing with other dragons, it is a dragon.

Also hes not a dragon type because we will never see a starter being a dragon type, thats a huge advantage type wise compared to the other two, still if there was such a thing as a third type , dragon would be his.

Oh and it learns a ton of dragon type moves.
That's because he looks like a dragon, but that doesn't mean he is one. You have to be a dragon type! And learning dragon type moves means nothing. Other pokemon can also learn dragon type moves, doesn't mean they are one.

Did I seriously just read that someone doesn't consider Charizard a dragon because its not a dragon type? Guess that means that the 'Chinese Dragon' based Gyarados isn't a dragon either then?

I didn't really think about it at the time, but yes I guess my anticipation of a frenzy may have actually put the thought in people's heads.. Oops, lol..

Kingler, my friend. No matter what, you will always remain my favourite Water type. You shouldn't have missed out on the Sinnoh League and I look forward to seeing you again, hopefully in the near future.

There you are, I see you in the back there!

Honestly, I wouldn't complain if Iris got a Charmander. It can be useful to fight Dragon-types without fearing a Dragon weakness, can deal with Ice-types thanks to its Fire-typing, has Dragon/Monster as its Egg groups and can learn a lot of Dragon-type attacks. It seems fitting to me.

Champion Iris's team has Aggron, Archeops and a Lapras.

They can give Iris any Pokemon that looks like a dragon and treat it like a pseudo legendary dragons.

    Look at Charizard and Gyarados.

He doesn't look like a dragon he is a dragon, once again Stunfisk, Eelektross are fish and aren't water type, so are they not fish? what are they then?

Dragon masters ingame have it, the game makers are telling you its a dragon but you are saying it isn't? what a pointless argument.

Exactly another example of a dragon that isn't a dragon type and many dragon trainers ingame use it.

Gyarados and Charizard are 10 times more dragon looking then an Altaria, Altaria has the typing if it didn't none would say its a dragon.

Stunfisk and Eelektross are fish-like because of their appearances, which is the same as Charizard. He looks like a dragon but he isn't one.

Well I think Charizard and Gyarados were meant to be dragon types but they dropped it as the only Dragon Rage was the only lame move that could effective Dragons and only did 40 damage. The anime must be references to that.

What's the point? It offers very little to Iris. It's just a plain fire type (Dragonite already knows flamethrower), its design is pretty similar to Dragonite (So Basically she'll get a smaller non-dragon version of it), and it's another kanto pokemon. It gives her nothing.

And Emolga? What has she to offer to Iris's team? She doesn't have moves useful to fight Axew and Dragonite's weaknesses. On the contrary, she's weak to Ice too. Dragonite and Excadrill can't handle a team full of Dragons or Ice-types alone.

That Dragonite laughts at Ice type moves, and has flamethrower.

Excadrill has metal claw, gets neutral damage from Ice and 0.5x from dragon.

A fire type pokemon is not needed in Iris' team, and 4 pokemon are enough for a sidekick.
