For whatever reason, Slender seems to be gaining more popularity than SCP - Containment Breach, despite the latter being continually improved and updated with more SCPs. Not too much you can do with Slender.

But am I going to play either? No... >_>... not really my genre.
I love the SCP games, personally.

I agree, they're not as much my speed but it's totally nerve-wracking to play SCP-087-B and get down to floors in the eighties.

Downloaded this yesterday night and played it. Couldn't sleep. It wasn't really the game, but I was watching PewdiePie's playthroughs and I had Slender stuck in my head the whole day. I tried to play this morning, but it was too slow. For something that's 8 MB, it takes a lot of memory to run.

    Slender Multiplayer? Thoughts?

I for one think it would be awesome to play with friends.

Hmmm I don't really know. One of the things that makes Slender scary is the fact that you're isolated and alone in the woods with the Slenderman chasing you. It's not the same with friends.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. It wouldn't be very scary if you're isolated and alone in the woods with the Slenderman chasing you + a friend. You would probably be talking to each other the whole time, following one another around and making jokes, the usual friend-stuff.

Nonetheless, I think it would still be a fun-experience.

The fact that 087-B doesn't appear on the same step twice (from what I've read) certainly adds that extra sense of, "oh crap, where is it?!" to the mix. As someone mentioned once, true terror.

Unless that's the official story name, that of which eventually got turned into what many of us know as SCP-087/B, then yeah, that's it.

There are areas in Slender based directly off of Marblehornets (not sure if any of the Marble Hornets are from SomethingAwful other than Slendy himself)
Such as, the tunnel, the "hospital", the burnt tree stumps, the red tower thingy. I don't remember which exact episodes.

Slender Man originated in a particular thread on Something Awful that was meant to be a contest for "Create Fake Paranormal Images." Basically they just tried to fabricate the creepiest/most realistic scary images they could, so there was alot of stuff in the background for realism sake. Naturally, most of the images were cliche' ghosts and things like that, but someone posted the first two images of Slender Man on there and created a backstory for each, effectively creating the mythos himself. And the rest is history...

I'm quite the Slender Man fan lol, and as it has been said, it's about 100x creepier to play this game than to watch someone else play it. Download it, play it alone, with headphones on, at night, in a dark room. Trust me, nobody will be immune to that haha. The horrible anticipation just destroys you, I hate it lol, and I'm not very good at it, I usually am too freaked out to think straight, and I always get lost. One time he got me before I even collected one note. But in my defense it was my first time, and he was literally standing right next to the note on a wall, so I didn't know what to do. The music also is a huge contributor to the feeling.

Anyway, if you haven't played it, I encourage you to do so. It's quite the experience.

Yeah. I don't believe it follows the exact story of the Stairwell, i.e. SCP-087-1 or whatever it was isn't there directly when you turn around like in the story, but it stays pretty true to form aside from that.

Heh, Slendy. I didn't know there was a game until about a month ago. From the few snapshots I've seen, it looks like it's like how Minecraft works, though it could be just the style that reminds me of it. Still... not interested in playing. I've already convinced my brain certain things are just fiction and can't happen so I can sleep more comfortably. I fear playing the game might trigger it again, or something...

Oh God, there's a game of that?! I wonder if anyone's done Let's Plays of it... I haven't watched Pewdiepie, though my brothers do, so if he has done it, they might've seen it. Not... that I'm interested.

Pewdiepie's screams during his gameplay scared me more than Slenderman himself.

lol I'm too scared to play with the sound on, so I mute it and open up Windows Media Player to play my own music. Other than that, I'm pretty much able to play alone at night.

The night I played Slender, I had a heck of a hard time sleeping. Not because I was scared the Slenderman was real, but because I was afraid he would appear in my dreams when I fall asleep.

Yes the music and sound in general is probably the biggest factors in whether or not it's scary, so no sound = no scare.

After playing it with a headset, the creepy sounds start to freak you out. Also attacking slenderman doesn't work.................If anyone says to play the 4 player version for Little Big Planet 2, don't; it sucks.

Anyone hear about that new game based on Slender called Sanitorium? It's almost the same as Slender except:
    • New environments. With an S.
    • AI is different (but the makers didn't specify on this)
    • Slenderman appears to be able to move slightly even when you look at him, although this is rare. Glitch?
    • The flashlight illuminates the entire room, and the room darkens significantly when the light is turned off. There's none of that stupid bobbing light you get in the new versions of Slender.
    • Slenderman's model is different and so is the killing animation
    • New music, higher quality graphics

The game isn't intended to be a copy of Slender, but it's supposed to be Slender in new environments. As of now, there's only one stage but a Pyramid stage is under development and is scheduled to be released in September. I'm not sure if the game mechanics are still the same (ex: difficulty increasing as time passes, Slender teleporting at 4 Notes, Stamina, the flashlight off attracting Slenderman, etc) as the original Slender.

I was at Fan Expo this weekend and there were some Slenderman cosplays which was to be expected, given the sudden popularity at the moment.

What I wasn't expecting though was seeing a paper like in the game on one of the walls. It was a nice touch, kudos to whoever did that.

I've downloaded Slender and attempted to play it, though the frame rate on my computer is downright awful, so it was basically impossible to play. But what I was able to get through was kind of alright. The atmosphere is creepy enough, and by the time you run into Slendy the first time, you're crapping yourself. But yeah, it kind of loses it's effect after a while.

I had high hopes, but was left disspaointed. Silent Hill and Amnesia are better for scares, Slender's lame.
