Default Chapter 17: Hidden Anima 2

Author's note: Do you want me to add you on my PM list

A lot has happened over the past year. Jireh is now a year and seven months old. Some of them changed. Some are still overcoming the challenges they face. Others are stuck on certain things. Akiko has been a trustworthy friend for them in a few weeks after their first meeting, though her ditsy attitude remains the same. She began travelling on her own when Jireh was ten months old. Ever since Avea got cured from the unknown sickness, she returned to her old routine with her twin sister. After Lucas takes over Akiko’s farm, the travel to innocence and maturity goes on. As Jireh aged as a year old, which takes sixteen months, Lucas seems to be getting much more privacy from Celena. Mien Rin stays the same though she is slacking off from Jireh every now then that Celena whines like a kid. Perhaps, Celena doesn’t realize about the true mistake she had done before.

    “Where am I? What’s this?”

    “A book?”

A flood of Pictures and words began going all around in one grand motion.

“Welcome my child. I am Herbardam.” The voice is so young. Much of a toddler.

    “Herbardam? I thought you’re a land.”

“Not really. Here, lemme show you this!” his hands glow bright as my child appears and passes him to me.

“Jireh! You’re okay!” It’s adorable to hear his giggling laugh

    “Enjoy it. Savor it.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Do you know about the Emerald Land?”

    I nodded side wards.

    “Go there.”

“But what if I don’t know where it was? Or I don’t have the desire to do so?”

Everything goes brown. Leaves of the autumn are falling on both of us. I’m feeling a bit light. But pressing my hand to my child ...

“What you ask is what you get. Uncertain?”

The air suddenly feels winter cold. I wrapped up my child and hugged him to make him warm.

But seeing him … frozen, time has … stopped? Can’t he breathe?

“NO! THIS CAN’T BE! WHAT HAVE I DONE?

Your fault young mother. Your last question only brought your child quickly to his demise. Ask your lover. Did he really want this from the start with you? Are you not much more but his approachable being? Or is he … just not certain to almost anything? Did you two ever considered raising a child back then?

    “Why should I?”

Out of the blue, I can see an emerald wisp charged at me, dropping my child to the ground. I can’t move as much as I want to. My child just disappeared from my arms as he screams his last word.

    [mommy!] No! My child!

“Let go of my child you ...”

    “Someone rebelling ehh?”

It fires something at me. It just hits me on my whole lower half. It’s only then I can feel something really painful. I screamed in agony. I felt like something eating me inside my womb while it fills me up with something wet.

“How’s it like to be the bearer of your husband’s child? Painful … isn’t it? Giving your entire self to him like he did to you is surely fun. And he did. Congrats milady, you’re pregnant. I bet you never wanted this to happen too soon.”

“H-how did … ohhh … know?” it’s embarrassing enough that this thing speaking to me knows my inner thoughts while I moan out of its antics with me.

“What I can see from your soul, you do love him with a passion. Admiring. I could be wrong … maybe he’s just fantasizing your … outside appeal. When you dropped your guard down, you let him had his way with your body until every last drop of his love is sealed tight in your vessel. Like a wave coming to shore non-stop.”

    “N-no … nnoooo. Lucas … he isn’t -ahhh- like that. P-please … stop. It ... hurts. Ahhhh …”

Painful? I thought that you should be pleasured by this memory travel. You should have known him already Celena! How could you marry such a secretive man? A man so shy on revealing his true colors. Yes he’s mature. But he’s still a troubled child. Both of you are troubled. All in all, your lives have been stained!

Hearing that last word, I couldn't speak out. I just pant out in silence. It’s then that the burning feeling inside me fades away.

The future of everyone you will meet, along with yourself, will be a future that will bring you to your knees. Lest to end up as tragedy, know your lover and yourself more. Go to the Emerald Land. Or … END LIKE HIM!”

On top of me was a shadow plunging itself inside me in all directions. I can’t breathe or speak.

With Lucas’ corpse on my right, I feel like I’m turning to dirt.

All I did was to scream in pain.

Where this spirit brings a fist go straight to my heart.

After slamming a fist to her chest to revive her, I managed to get her working up. What struck me is seeing eyes open, as if it … angered her. I get catch off guard when she attacks me with a fist to the chest, knocking me down and my breath while she retrieves her child from the couch. I’m a bit distant from her by the time I stand up.

“No one ever harms my child! Don’t you dare do this to MY CHILD!” did she just go insane? What happened to her? But I have to choice but to do this. “Don’t come any closer!”

“SISTER! SNAP OUT OF YOURSELF! AND FOCUS!” Did she just make herself insane? Why can’t she wake up and see who she just punches out?! With a spare hand, I slap her to the face.

She just stops breathing hard. She’s just staring to space. But looking at her eye to eye, she’s … off from … oh I don’t know. Something is off when I look at her eyes. But it didn't last long that she regains her eye’s sense.

“I … I … sister …” she is about to cry when she returns Jireh to her bed. She just run outside of the house. I tried my best to catch up to her. But her punch to my chest is never this painful. My legs are unexpectedly hurt as to how she did that to me.

“Since when did she have that kind of strength?” I ask myself. Since I took quite a hit, I need to wrap up my chest with bandage for a bit to recover from her unlikely assault. Grabbing some clothes for outside and a spare jacket, I wrap myself up. Bringing Jireh with me, to make sure he isn't alone. “This is not you anymore little sister. What’s going on with you?”

I am here crying for what the voice is speaking inside my head; asking out loud to myself in front of the crystal statue of our master. I know that I love Lucas the way he loves. Even as a mate and a soul mate. What have we done wrong? Did I let myself get carried by our loving passion? Did I let him dominate me? Was I uncertain about my choices? I never wished for all of this sorrow! And this burden!

But I can’t blame my child for everything. He’s our ultimate treasure. A gift from our master I believe. A being that both of us pro created. Was it a mistake from me? From him? Or for both of us?

What if Lucas found out about this? What am I missing about him? What if he doesn't love me when he found out about these dreams I am having? How am I gonna tell Mien Rin about this? Importantly, where is Feli when I need her the most?!

    “Celena!” big … sister?

I arrive panting seeing her cry out deeply. Back to where Jireh was born. Poor little sister. Why is she crying? Why can’t she tell me what’s wrong? I’m her elder sister. I care for her as she cares for me and Lucas.

“I know why you came here sister.” Celena spoke as if she is older than me. I’m still cradling to her child in case something unexpected comes in my way

“Please. You know me since we were kids. Celena, do what you did to me before. Just as how I shall do to you.” As I stood next to her and held on to her shoulder, I remember the days when both of us are with our master. While he and Lucas are on to their stuff, both of us share secrets to each other. I was twenty one years old and she was five years old at that time.

Everything stands silent as she sheds her tears. I also shed a bit while I face the statue. Those days were terrible for both of us. But when I see her face right now, this is something I never knew would come. Not too soon for what I believe.

“We are going to Herbardam.” Wait, did she just say were going somewhere now?

“What?” I ask as she carried Jireh again.

“It’s almost morning.” As she faces me, something tells me that I was speaking to Feli herself. “Pack our things up. We need Lucas’ too.”

“Let’s go.” It’s all I could say to her as we leave the cemetery.

“Dear Feli, what is going on now?” I ask myself deep in thought.

As we arrive back home, Celena was meditating outside. Something tells me she needs to soother out the pain and worry that her child has. At my case, as I was packing my things up, I found something wrapped up. Written on the wrappings was Johanna’s lettering.

    Dear Mien Rin,

We managed to sneak to your house last night to offer you the present we haven’t given to you last year. Sorry it came late. But it took time for us to earn the right profit for this novel. Hope you enjoyed it.

    Default Chapter 18: Novelist

Authors note: Now that the nominations are back again, I hope that you guys can vote fairly and justly.

Back on my next chapter, we meet a new character that in truth makes a conflicting ripple effect to the beliefs of our heroes. I hope you read and review my unique and original fantasy novel. This is the last chapter of the Family Arc. Next is the Herbardam Arc. So grab yourselves some camping tools. We are now not too far away from the multiple climaxes ahead.

Another morning it is today. Love the weather. The fields are vast colorful. I appreciate nature’s beauty so much. Oh how rude of me! Without manners, I’ll act like a dump of damp water on soil. Anyways, you know who am I?

I am Verdio Yuzura. I'm a recognized novelist from Herbardam Sanctuary, the capital of Herbardam Kingdom. As like every journey I’ve been through, it could be through good and bad, joyful and sorrowful, or life and death.

“Sir Yuzura. What brings you here in the middle of my farming field?” Dearest of Feli’s moments, how nice for Lucas to ask me.

“Haven’t you recognized by profession yet, young man? How rude of you to disturb me embracing the beauty of Feli’s Grand Creation?” I bet he’s just doing the same thing to me yesterday. It was a nuisance for me.

    “But-“ Oh poor Lucas.

“When will YOU become a TRUE GENTLEMAN?” showing him a hint of a stern attitude from mine as I play a serious tome. But really, is he THAT PRONE to indecisiveness? “Just imagine your child being affected by your defective ego. Wouldn't that also hurt the one who you called ‘bearer’ of your child?” there we go. I think I burst a nerve. Just as he lands a punch to me, through my face, I feel his anger. I’m certain he doesn't recognize my silly joke and a hint where I share my wisdom to him. Just like some tivanian following someone like a monotone script with any free will.

“Perhaps you are still discovering yourself. Don’t hide it to me Sir. Tanabata!”

“LUCAS!!!” Looking to the voice, I sense some new feelings going towards us. Through the fields I see a young woman and an older one too. I knew that upon seeing me like this, this is going to be ‘one rough writing’ of their developing relationship.

“Lucas. What’s going on here?” I hear the young baby in that adorable woman’s arms bearing tears. Looking at my ‘last night guest’ becoming an assailant, he has nothing to speak.

As I stood up, I justify my own rights. “You can’t tell your impulsiveness to her. Right, Mr. Tanabata?” Then I decide to distance myself from them. Just like any other young man I've met before, he is one of those affected by something tragic. Leaning myself to another tree, I begin writing a new novel from scratch.

“Just who is that guy Lucas?” Mien Rin, at moments of crisis, acts like an aunt to both of us.

“Verdio … Yuzura.” He was looking away at me. Just who is he?

“Please tell me. What’s going on with you two?” I ask. For a moment, I feel something fearful is going to happen.

“Give me some time … alone.” I am sure something’s wrong with him. I never even have deep thoughts like that to him. “But why?”

“ … Lucas, please.” With me begging to him, I feel this sensation that never hit me before. He just holds on to my shoulder.

“A little later.” He just kiss me to my cheek before he leaves himself somewhere on the fields. “All I want is … time … to deal with … his response … about … … myself.”

As we part ways with him, I approach at this ‘Verdio Yuzura’ tivani. I can see a notebook and a pen he’s using. He must be some sort of writer. I just couldn't get what he’s writing though. Deep inside me, I felt something burning inside me, like I want to avenge my husband, until he looks at me. “I understand what it means to justify his assault on me. Madam, feel like doing so to me, so be it.” Looking at him, he is pretty tall for a man like him. He had a face of a pretty man yet he is claiming to us a serious expression. If only I could just slap him to the face, I just did it to him.

“CELENA! WHAT DID YOU JUST DO TO HIM?! Can’t you show some reasonable manners!?” My sister is mad, sure. I just feel that I did the right thing.

“That’s for insulting my love! Leave me some time alone Mien Rin.” I just passed Jireh to her and give myself some privacy.

What a strange day of events. First is Celena having another nightmare that changes her completely? Then we encountered Lucas assaulting Verdio for some unexplainable reason. Then young sister just slaps him to the face. For a moment, we introduce ourselves to each other. He is a popular novelist from Herbardam traveling like a nomad. He never met our master though he heard tales about our master. I guess his height is a bit higher than me, even if he’s only a year below mine. Of course we share to each other about ourselves, and I told him about Celena and Lucas. “I see that you hold one of my novels.”

“Oh … thank you.” I said.

“No maam. I thank you for sharing me a new idea.” Me? Giving Verdio a new Idea? “Your sister married your long time best friend. Yet all three of you are adopted. You are the eldest huh?”

“Yes. But, Verdio , how did you know Lucas?” I ask.

“I arrived at his farm. I just go, read and write wherever I wanted to be for at least a month. Then I rest at home for another month.” Wow. This man must be humble and free willed. I kind of blushed to meet such a gentleman. I can’t say it well after learning from him that he’s not interested in marriage.

“But what brought my friend to attack you? Was it-” to deal with my words, he raises his pen in the air.

“That I can’t explain.” I am about to ask he’s just making it up. “But that doesn't mean I am lying. I’m only saying my point to him about his concern last night. Don’t think too much about me maam. I have rights to help others.” Wait. Something happened to Lucas last night here at Akiko’s Farm? “He just denied it.”

“What was the problem?” before he could speak out. Something distracted us.

“Mien Rin! Help me over here! Something’s wrong with Lucas!” Celena comes back running back as if something frightens her.

    “WHAT?!”

“You two, please follow me!” We just took off and arrive at the scene. I am speechless.

Oh dear goodness! What has happened to this young man? Green mystical symbols are surrounding him as he is screaming in agony. Oh Feli. What’s going on here? We tried picking him up. But some unknown force kept us separated from him. Until those unknown symbols just stick through his body like luminous scars.

    “Lucas!”

“Milady! Stand back! Let me check on him first! Miss Sanipela, assist me here!” Checking for any symbol of life, I used a hand for a pulse. I found it, but very weak. On the closing edge of nothing more than …

    An untimely demise.

Seeing this part hurts me a bit. But this … is for the best of their family.

“My student. You got Lucas to induce himself on our creed?”

“Yes. It goes the same to the mother and child.” Someone like me giving trouble to a recently young couple.

“Never knew that I have to face my nemesis ahead. It’s not gonna be pretty.”

“Was it … the right decision for me … to do so?” That I sometimes I ask myself.

Some choices in life are very difficult to be made when your ideas and truths are conflicted by both. Sometimes, either choice just ends up being a merciless light of dependence. But it is the way of living in a difficult and challenging life.”

“Then, what will … my future become of?”

“A future will only open on something you believe. The question is, ‘how strong is your faith with your choice?’ Time to proceed to the next phase.” So confusing for me. But I shrugged it off.

“It shall be done. Feli. I trust you my destiny.” I left my hiding spot and returned back home.

    Default Chapter 19: Emerald Land

    Start of the Herbardam Arc

Being a miner himself way back at Hivanis, Zoxi is here looking for Lucas for another casual day with his two horses. But arriving at the Tanabata House, it is empty. “Celena?! … Mien Rin? …” A few moments of waiting … silence. Entering their house by jumping through the fence, he lands on their garden and began looking for them again “Uhhh… any of you guys there?”

    *Rustle**Rustle**rustle*

“Huah … wait a moment. What’s … that?” he recollects his thoughts at his case. Not long it takes another rustle. “Is somebody … here?” Another rustle comes behind him. “This … does not sound … pretty.” Feeling like being watched, he instinctively stances himself for an upcoming fight. “Dear Goddess what’s going on here?” This time, wooden creaks are creaking inside the house itself. He looks at the kitchen first. No one’s there. Even the creeks and corners are empty. Hearing another rustle, it came from their memorial stone. As he reaches the hallway, something’s giving him a sense of dread. As if … a cunning shadow is after him. Walking slowly, he cautiously walks to the backyard exit, still on alert.

“What the?!” When I heard a slash, I jump back inside the house. Two balls landed on the ground and explode of white smoke. I managed to get away from the center of the blast. Dang it ain’t lookin pretty after this. Sensing somethin approachin behind me fast, I did a roundhouse kick. And I am right. I hit somebody. But that voice, I can’t describe it well. Is it a boy or a girl? The smoke starts to thin out. I find myself facing a silhouette of a mysterious tivanian. But it did something unexpected. It throws something flat towards me. As I grabbed it, that thing explodes to smoke again. Trying to chase that tivanian out, I go outside of their house as I check every corner of their front garden. That person got away. What is wrong with this day? As I compose and assert my situation, who knew those twins will come here inside our young family’s house.

That gasp from those annoying girls tells me the whole thing already. They are so shock like I do so myself, “Zoxi! What going on here?! And why is Celena’s house blown with white smoke?!” Johanna, to my relief, makes a decent Navanian to have conversation. This day for me is SERIOUSLY NO JOKE!

“You two will need to listen to me carefully.” As I said this seriously, they nodded.

Of course we have to find ourselves a place to talk. We choose Lucas’ Garden. Avea however, is silent about all of this. This is not the annoying one that I know a lot.

“I was supposed to arrive here this morning for me to fetch Celena, Mien Rin, and her baby child. Lucas wanted me to bring them both to him. When I arrived here, I tried calling for them. But after a few minutes, no one came out.” For a moment, I need a breather.

“Haven’t you tried calling them by using a ‘Call Crystal’?” Avea certainly should’ve known them by now you idiot.

“They don’t have any of those ‘Call Crystals’.” I’m certain that they are making the best of their work to at least be able to have one. “Anyways, I inspected their place. It was empty. Not until I sensed something … or someone watching me. Rustles and creaks are very random the more I checked the place. It was until I checked the back of their garden.”

“Ain’t that garden you’re telling would be where we are right now?” I shake my head side wards to Avea.

“It’s the garden where they have my best friend’s memorial. The one where I believe they meditate.” After a moment of silence, “It’s where I was attacked by clouds of smoke set up by someone. I was lured to a trap.” I knew it’s inevitable to see those sisters’ expression of shock and fear. “But I managed to avoid the blow that would have ended my life as I fought back. I can’t really describe on what that tivanian would be. All it did was toss me this paper before it blew itself from another cloud of white smoke. As I tried chasing that person, it disappears.” My tale leaves all of us quiet.

Johanna’s voice wakes me up, “…Zoxi. Who … did this … to you?”

“I’m afraid … I can’t answer that question.” They believe me this time. This is the truth. I can’t tell who I saw.

“Umm … can I see that paper of yours …” Oh Avea, I really wanna play with you now. But who knew something LIKE THAT WILL HAPPEN to me. I just pass this paper to her.

As I begin unfolding the paper, “Looking at this paper, it seemed built by another being not from our own. But …” the moment I read the paper, everything hits me. “Th-this … this … message!”

“Sister! What is it?!” My twin shakes me up to see what is written.

“Johanna. Zoxi. Look at this!” I couldn’t believe that I’ll be seeing those symbols from my head. I’m not being paranoid here! The message ARE THOSE SYMBOLS that I dreamt last year! Just what is going on with all of us? Not only am I scared but my sister and Zoxi are a lot more afraid to know about this … thing its written. My mind keeps on bringing me thing scary flashbacks.

“Avea. How did you know about this?!” both of them not only sounded angry but also very confused. I was scared to see them like that, especially Johanna. Could I even have the guts to tell them what I saw last year? It’s too scary for me to remember. Would THEY EVEN BELIEVE on what I saw?

“I can’t tell! I’m sorry! I’m so scared!” I feel like a bird who couldn't fly right now.

That one moment, changes everything. “Sister! Please tell what’s going on!” She … she’s crying … for me? Add her way of hugging only made it worse for me, ”Didn’t you know just how sick you were last year? I saved your life from an untimely death from these … these … symbols that nearly killed you!”

We keep on shedding tears for a moment. Thanks to my sister’s plea, it gives me the will to speak my fears. “Sister. … … Thank you.” For a minute, I did what I could to recover those memories. “Johanna. Zoxi. What happened last year … I dreamt that I was seeing Celena and her family being chased by some … things. … As if they are … after something. But I dreamt something worse.” I hate being a whiny to you Zoxi. But this one may hurt you. “Zoxi. Last night, I dreamt of the … Emerald Land. A place somewhere here … in Vitandes. You must … go … there. Now.”

“Miss A. I don’t get ya meaning about this ‘Emerald Land’. Are you talking about Herbardam?! Why am I supposed to go now?!” He angrily asks me? Silly guy.

I turn now to a sad face with truth on my bitten lips. Don’t kill me for this Zoxi. “Lucas’ … life … … … is … coming soon … to their … master’s …“ I find it hard to say it. Lucas will die. And it’s coming quickly!

“Don’t tell me … that guy is …” a tivanian?

Seeing him with a feared and startled expression, he just … ran off to his horses. “ZOXI WAIT-!”

“I CAN’T WAIT JUST LIKE THIS RIGHT NOW! THAT SHADY PERSON MAY BE AFTER HIM! Hyah!” Quickly he rides his horse and runs towards the plains.

“ZOXI! YOU DON’T KNOW WHERE THE –“ my sister’s reminding him that we don’t even know where this ‘Emerald Land’ will be, “Emerald Land … is.” Sadly, she fails to notify him.

“Oh Avea! How on Feli could you have been faced with the unnatural?! I thought I was going to lose you on that year that you fell dreadfully ill!!” We remain there hugging at each other with both of us crying as to how I suffered throughout that unwanted day. Worse, after hearing Zoxi’s distress, he left me not hating him like a brat, but it made me fearful this time. I know he is reckless, just not THAT RECKLESS! “Sister, what are even supposed to do now? I’m not in the mood to go for another ordinary day!”

Both of us are left in silence. I made a daring choice. “I hated facing that day again. The day I nearly died. But … after seeing that letter … I can’t take it anymore. What are those things telling me?! I wanted … answers.”

“Johanna.” I call her once more.

“Yes?” she asks, eyes gazing to me.

“Let’s follow Zoxi. To the Emerald Land.”

Default Chapter 20: Numolap and Tichipala

Author's note: by now, this chapter gave me a lot of pain and a crap ton of research to get this ONE CHAPTER done. It's generally a way of experimenting of writing a story within a story. It's quite a challenge where you have to write another legend that will have an influence to the plot of the story. Think of what you do on catching the regi trio in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald.

Uhh … ohhh. Wh- … where … am I? This place is … so green. Lighter above. Dark below. Why am I here? It feels … cool and windy to my left. “Celena? Mien Rin?”. Nothing. Its … too quiet. The wind stays warm. I feel like I need to go somewhere. But where should I go?

    *sching* … *sching* … *sching*

“Huh?” something tells me … is it … follow me? It tones like … chimes that … so … … otherworldly. I decided to follow it. Throughout my journey, or this kind of walk wherever I am right now, it felt like an eternity. Wherever I go, I kept hearing different noises in almost every direction. I hear gallops below me. I heard steam on my left. While I follow the steam I heard … charcoal being burned ahead. I followed on. I hear … drops of water behind me. The more I move on, I hear … stones … clanking … or was it … dropped to the ground. Even further … the winds began getting strong. Not the kind of strong to push me away.

“Are the winds … wailing?” Suddenly, the sky just turns blue green and the winds went down with ease.

“What’s happening here? Why am I … here?” I ask myself.

    *Two wind blowing once again.*

“Hello there. My child.” I feel like something … or someone lay a hand on my right shoulder. “Are you lost?” I just could not speak. Its voice was so … tranquil. Caring perhaps. “I’ll give you wisdom along the way … if you do so follow me.” As I turned around, I’m in awe.

I couldn't do anything to my sister and neither much to her baby. I have to take her child into account so that little Jireh won’t be too infected by the sorrow happening to her. Still … I can’t easily forget … how she reacted to what happened way back at Akiko’s Farm.

“Milady! Stand back! Let me check on him first! Miss Sanipela, assist me here!” I immediately checked for a pulse hoping that Lucas would still be alive. But when I touched his chest, something felt cold. But I felt that light pulse. I felt quiet and … cried a tear out. Jireh’s and Celena’s cries did not help me focus at all. As if I’m losing one of my best friends that I can call at times … brother.

As I wept a bit more, Verdio began carrying him to his shoulder. “Do wanna save him? We still got a chance if you two get yourselves moving!” I looked at my little sister as I see the inevitable … she was in conflict with herself. I heard only one word from both mom and son.

    “Lu … cas.”

    “Pa … pa …”

I felt … powerless. I … failed on my role badly.

It is the first time I ride this steam train, like I have the time to admire this place. A pen and notebook are my everyday tools for writing my experiences. “Heh. Last night, I met this young boy. A boy still seeking answers. Through the night, his voice calls out from his soul. Was it fear he emanates? Concern? Uncertainty? All of it revolves about his mate and child. The next day, answers he dug are merely butterfly ashes. A hollow he was. An adult without resolution. I helped him to man up. I deserve the credit. An assault from his denial. Followed by a woeful woman and child. Also an aunt admitting herself to her sibling’s and friend’s burdens.” Hearing the door open, the eldest of the three along with the child of the young couple. “No need to shy like a cocoon.”

An uncommon tivanian trait. Poor lady. Only herself makes her world go against and with the stars. “May I … stay here with you? I felt like … reading.”

    I nod at her.

Looking at her book relieves me back nostalgia. “Would you read the story for me?” as she nods back, I thanked her. Hopefully relieving both of us from … the Tanabata couple’s agony.

    The Emerald land of Herbardam

An origin tells a tale of happenings. Emerald Land is also part of the thread of life. The land was once the aftermath of the seafloor’s uprising. What was once the hottest of Vitandes melting veins turned to a newborn sea. Thousands of years coral life bloom. All it took to meet an untimely demise would be crystals of the frozen space. An Ice Age resonated at the land. Amidst the cold, the corals remained shining and visible. Far to the south, a couple emerges to seek a new home. A young man Numolap (Nula) and a young woman Tichipala (Chipa) find themselves a plain dead tree to rest.

“Chipa. Can you still keep up?” Being the survivalist of the two knows what deems required and dangerous, even in times of famine and emptiness.

“I dunno. Are we close to finding food Nula?” Sensing her tiredness gave him the same feeling of dread. Days they’ve been trying to find whatever necessities they could find are intensifying.

“I’m afraid none as of yet. Is there anything nearby that you can sense?” he asked.

“I’ll try.” Try as Chipa does her best, food in the barren wasteland was all for naught. A breeze blew through them. “Nula … did you felt that?”

“Felt what? It’s only wind. That’s it.” It’s just wind he felt, wondering what his wife looking at.

“I think. I just think … I felt something … over there.” As she raised a hand, she felt that wind again. “Northwest.”

“Nula, I think I saw something over there. Could you check it for me?” he placed Chipa to rest for a while. Climbing up the tree made him felt a bit cooler. That is … a small dot of moving shadow in a field of crystal blue. As he looked further, he found a surprise of a potentially green life.

“Sweetheart! We just may be lucky!”

With him back on brown floor, he carries his wife to this unknown greenery. “You found something love?”

“I believe so.” He always loved a moment of accomplishment from either of them. A kiss is a peacemaker’s element of rooming out the brownest of weeds. Walking through the new direction, he felt his feet walking to much more comfortable dirt unlike the sand of thirst. The closer both of them felt, the grassier it is to tap the ground. As they go ahead further, they saw that the field ahead of them was covered in crystal colored ice. It wasn’t long a man of elder age make a provoking entrance, staff made of wood at hand.

“Stay away.” What … was he thinking?

“But we are here for shelter.” Just the moment she changes, I change too

“Both of us are seeking a home to start a family.” Radiating cold eyes from
this man … it shivers both of us to the bone.

“Hmmmm … had you sent me these nomads my Goddess?” is he talking to himself. “I understand.”

    “Sir-.”

    “Chipa. Hold it.”

“I believe my time is almost up. Terra Gubat!”

Below their feet, two roots wrap themselves at the couple as the glacial floor stats to melt; hugging the couple together. They couldn’t explain what was happening. As a follower of Feli, he will do his duty to protect the land. “You two have invaded my privacy and my sacred ground. I would have spared you two if you did not cross my glacial line. I’d only let you have the ground of dessert and grass. Seems I was wrong about you two. Right now, you two will carry my creed, procreate every tree and every flora of this dead land. Thus, my time neared its time to return to the stars. You two will be my servants for many millennia.” The inevitable comes when the young couple screamed in pain.

All the couple could admit was their love to each other through their last kiss; letting their sorrowful and joyful tears water the path of their untimely demise. Their true love merged them as the one Mother Genesis Tree.

Then everything through the frozen ocean melted to water. All of the corals turned to Flora of many form, expanding territories unlike any other. Trees reach the height of mountains. Flowers blooms a thousand colors of a thousand galaxies. Fruits and veggies sprout through the remains of the once dead seafloor.

All the old man said is ‘live life to the fullest’.

That is how the Emerald Land was born.

“Such a beautiful lady like you needs to find inspiration from the old man in my novel. Looking through your eyes and hearing your voice … you are placing the challenges to your sister and friend. Lend them a hand not to make them puppets … but to make them decisions for themselves.” As I closed, the curtain of my place, just as Mien Rin opened the door, I gave her thanks.

All that’s left is a thousand more questions.

“I will find you someday … my sister.”

Default Chapter 21: Standing with a name

“It is sunset by now. We should be close.” As far as I can see through the thick tree covered forests, I must be near back at my home.

“Here is your captain speaking. We’re close to Herbardam Sanctuary. For passengers who are arriving, please pack all of your things and prepare for arrival within the next ten minutes.” That voice echoes again. Though I find it annoying, I can’t deny whatever its duty may be.

As I leave my cabin, I encounter once again the weeping mother and son. They probably notice me, “I never see you smile even once on your face. The only reason you helped us was because it happened right before your eyes.”

‘’What makes you think I don’t care for either one of you? Do I look like an ignorant person? You look too inexperienced to even become a mother, just like your husband. No offense--“it may be reckless for many other on what I said but I’m ready to face the inevitable.

“Now how dare you say that to me now? How could you?! You better have a good reason for everything that has happened to my family Verdio! You never expressed your feelings inside huh? I see you as someone who wanted to put our lives down!” her ignorance to my wisdom is something I’ve encountered before. But hers is much harder than last time. Sadness and anger are molded to one against me.

“I take that for granted I’ll be honest. But do you really see me as someone who doesn’t know how to feel pain? I know neither of us did anything to your husband’s unknown decline. But as the mother, you got the potential to become a true example to your family. He did it to you! On the other hand, you did not!” it takes one strong stomp on the ground to keep her attention at me.

“Verdio please stop this-“I raise my pen close to Mien Rin’s face to avoid any disturbance from her.

“Am I even discussing to you miss Mien Rin? Stand back and listen!” And she obeys at my order. At least she is much more disciplined compared to this woman.

“I’m not encouraging you to be like me madam. But don’t take my advice out of fear. All I point out is that you need to stand up! Haven’t you ever made a name for yourself?! Your husband told me about you when we met the first time. Even if he is becoming more like you, at least he has a way of making his own name. Right now, you must learn to make a name for yourself! If you don’t agree with me yet, ask yourself this. Will I be able to save my beloved if I go beyond my own understanding and beliefs? Can I save his life? Am I determined to do whatever it takes to find the thing that I must do to save him?” That just may be enough for her I think. I act out harshly at her but there are things in life that being cynical has its rights.

As the train comes to a halt, I carry my little bag. “Come on now you two. I’ll be carrying Lucas for you Miss Tanabata,” When I look at Mien Rin’s eyes, her willing look to understand gives me a small smile of hope. “We’ll talk more about you as well Miss Sanipela at the hospital.”

Going down to feel the forest air gives me relief. But we don’t have much time to enjoy the scenery. We find a caravan good enough for the five of us and our things. About an hour later, I arrive back at my home: Herbardam Sanctuary. “Can you set us at the hospital?” I ask our caravan. And he agrees if I pay him an extra amount of Ten Oseps.

Once we bring our patient inside, I began my vocal calls to the hospital, “Doctors, nurses, we are in need of help! This is Verdio Yuzura calling here at the hospital – not time for elaborated details but bring this kid in an emergency room NOW!”

Just as I turn around, I get to meet my colleague once again.

“Verdio? Wh-what are you doing here?” Is that … Taiko? What is he doing here? I just saw both guys hugging each other.

“Oh thanks to hear that you are here my colleague. But this is no time for a reunion. You got to save someone now!” even if he is pushing him away, Taiko saw the three of us. “I know you wanted know why these three are here with me but you will know them soon. Go!” albeit he wants to say hi, he has to save Lucas

Verdio just immediately hold on to my sister’s hand and brings her with him, “If you`re looking for us, both of us will be talking at the Telipa Gate. It’s a talk that only she must understand. Just for now, follow your husband’s room and wait for him. So start planning your next action.” I’m a bit hesitant but big sister reassures me.

Following Lucas’ room, I arrived at “Room 448” and find myself a seat on the hallway for me, I am carrying Jireh again as he’s curling at my chest again. I feel so wet from his tears and mine. I need a break for now.

Later on, Taiko approaches me with a sad look on his face. I’m just waiting for myself to bail out again, “Miss Celena. I … uhhmmm … never expected you guys to come here in Herbardam by yourselves. How did you meet up with my longtime friend, Verdio? Normally, he’s quite a reclusive kind of Herbarian resident. Often traveling the world solo.” Hearing his name, Verdio, makes me feel burning inside. “Oh ... you see … he helps others to become better in life. Yet … most of them can be … a painful sting for someone … like you.” His sigh doesn’t help a bit. I just felt his arm which tells me that I can pass my child to my company.

Shedding my tears as I speak while I’m sobbing, “He insulted my family for being unprepared to even raise our child. Back at the express, he told me on what my husband said about myself. I was the one who prevented him from becoming a better someone. He told me … to stand up and make a name … for myself. Something about my will … to save my loved one from what he is facing now. I couldn’t even save him that I … I BLAMED VERDIO FOR ALL OF THIS! It is then I heard him tell that to me when I’m plagued by nightmares for the past days!” anger has built inside and releasing it out. That jerk!

“Miss Celena! Control yourself!” My mind feels foggy at that moment. I had to stop, for my child’s sake. I only lay my face at Taiko’s shoulder and bail out my pain. He is petting my back the longer I stay with him.

After who know how long I stopped crying, he speaks something with a much more comforting tone.

“I … apologize on what you have gone through. But I think I understand on what my friend wanted to share with you. It’s just … you could not handle the way he passes his … wisdom. I know he is a good tivanian, though you may disagree with me for now. Give him time and you may learn as how he lives his life.” He did a breather before he continued, “But before that, I must tell you something regarding your husband. Lucas Tanabata is … still alive.”

When he said alive, I feel like Feli has given me hope. If I lost him, … I couldn’t forgive myself from the things … I did wrong to him. “Why should HE be the one becoming immature? Am I just not good enough to be an example of being a mother? Dang you Herbardam. Why do you have to be right about me?”

“Uhhh … hello? Are you fine maam?” oh he calls me back. I think he held on to my baby long enough. I just carried him.

“Oh. Nothing much Taiko…” I feel so quiet today

“He may be alive. But … he cannot wake up at all. He’s like … hibernating. He just couldn't wake up.” No … this can’t be. “He also got Avea’s unknown sickness. But this time, the symbols only stayed at Lucas’ body. Unless we could find a way to wake Lucas up again, he may be stuck … in eternal hibernation.” I … couldn't speak, “Maybe that’s what Verdio asks you? Do you want to save Lucas?”

    Default Chapter 22: Emerzin Nacote

Author's note: Apologies for a delay. I had a bit of a personal shock tat I failed an important college subject called Advanced programming. Seriously, I don't know how frequent I'll be able to work on this story when I have been going back to the basics of Programming. So expect my work in erratic schedules.

Spoiler:- characters seen in this chapter:

Like last chapter, this chapter is not playing so lightly anymore. Souls and blood will be spilled.

I’m looking at the trees above my head. So very green that it colors are similar to Verdio’s cover book and clothing. Even if the sun is bright here, I am bothered by what Verdio is asking.

“Something tells me that you are the kind of tivanian still seeking some wisdom. The way I see you play your role to your sister and best friend is, in truth, respectable.” I was thankful about that. “Yet … I think the way you express discipline needs some re-polishing.”

“I … see. But sir … you hurt my young sister too much. I’m not saying that the things you said are wrong. It’s just you did it harshly to us all.” That I speak out to him.

We are in a moment of silence then.

“ … True to your word Mien Rin. I’m like what you said, especially to strangers. But if I were you, you could have done greater things and be a true example of being an individual tivaian.” he is opening his notes and started writing things down. He sounds like too serious in a way despite his attempt to speak with assurance.

“Aren’t we supposed to know our own being as individuals? It’s what all three of us believe. A reason why we stay ourselves for who we are.” Even if he was listening to me, he kept on writing things on his notes.

“I know that very well maam. I also believe that. The point I’m giving to all of you is this. My question for you right now is how will you respond to change? This day may have been an unusual day compared to the events before this current moment. Your best friend may be dying now. What will you do now? How are you going to help your sister? How can you help her grow up as an individual? I know that you are the most mature of the three. You got great potential. It’s only a matter of asking yourself as to who, when, and how you will respond to change.” As he stood up again, he laid a hand on my head.

“I’ll be visiting somebody in this place. You better go back and check on your sister and her baby. Just follow the road and take a right turn on the second corner. You will get back there easily” he just left me behind this tree.

It’s good to be relaxing back at my home as I watch over the distant forest high above on one of the trees. It is not so new to me since my tree house is where I lived my life. I am Emerzin Nacote. Call me ‘Erin’ for short. Being a guy with long arms and legs help me climb the trees since I’m a tall guy. You really need to be tall and stretchy if you wanna live on a tree house on a high tree. Fitness means everything if you wanna climb the trees. Climbing the trees are my usual habits here at Herbardam Sanctuary. But my work is quite a complicated type you see.

“Mr. Erin. You got an emergency mail.” must be another letter for me.

“Just give it to me.” The mailman passes it to me.

“Thank you! Your client will be waiting.” The paper guy leaves by now.
As I open the casing, “Hmmm … what does it contain right now? A hello letter?” As I open the paper, it’s short. Somewhat short. Along that is another picture. Giving myself a seat on my couch, I begin reading the letter.

    To Emerzin Nacote,

We apologize for this sudden message. But we need your help now! As today! We have a very unusual patient that you must check on to. This is something we do not know at all. I know that you are a Symbologist not a doctor. But we need you now. After you check the picture, I hope you will come to Herbardam Life Hospital.

    Regards,
    Taitoko Kexiya

Picking and unfolding the picture inside, I am … speechless. “Oh … what is this? Those lettering's are no common thing. What are those symbols doing on a tivanian’s body?” The closer I check those mysterious symbols, sometimes I see them as glyphs, the more it’s making me curious. “This has got to be it. Something is meant special about these symbols. I can’t wait to see this!”

Just behind me, I hear my door being opened by somebody. Who could it be?

“Don’t you dare help those doctors. That is not meant for you to solve. It’s for somebody else to discover.” That voice surely sounds like somebody I knew back then. But with a little more masculine tone. It sounds like being threatening to me. Feeling the wind split next to my neck, something sharp awaits me.

“The moment I saw that picture, I knew that I did the right thing to follow my gut feelings. I thought at first that this is just an excuse letter for me to arrive at an ordinary day. It is the first time I can see something big for me to discover. What else do you know about me? I’d suggest that you may as well leave me be intact before I stand up.” I said with patience.

“Why should I leave you alive then Sir Erin?” did it sound like … feminine?

“Erin! Are you inside your house?!” thank Feli’s leaves for telling me that my pal is coming.

“Damn! You are lucky this time!” as I turn around, my entire place is blown with white smoke. It catches me off guard. But once it clears out I can see that nothing in my place has been damaged. It surprises me to meet some stranger who wants to kill me. But what is its purpose? I don’t know at all.
I’m glad at I have a longtime companion to join a chat with, “Erin! Are you okay? What just happened at your house?”

“No time for those silly discussions Verdio my pal. I've got something from Taiko for me to see. Something for me to see for myself!” Sometimes, I find it best to converse with Verdio whenever I get a swing on the tree branches.

“Don’t tell me it’s that young and immature family whose father is dying right now.” Who is he talking about?

“Verdio my pal. Take a blue taminiz candy right now. Your head and mind’s going too hot right now. Try to be serious in a humble and tranquil way. That will only make others uneasy on you.” I’m sure the way he speaks BARELY changes. It’s common for him to try smiling in an angry way.

“I’m not joking here best friend. What Taiko gave you is an emergency letter. I’m the one who brought his patient to Herbardam Life Hospital this morning. Our pal is showing us—“

“Go with the details all you want. But I’d rather see it for myself.”

“Erin, you really never change much. Smart yet aloof and laidback.”

“So do yourself Verdio. Smart yet disciplined, hotheaded and strict.” Both of us laugh as we head to the hospital.

“Forgive me Goddess Feli. But my target has escaped and disobeyed my
    warning.”

It is alright my child. I made you the mediator with a reason. The trials I told you to ask on the people are crucial for this task.

“The ones you told me to your chosen children, are tested if they are willing to be part of your creed?"

Yes my child. We got more to do. Try to be much more careful with your brother. Next on your list. Celena and her child.

In an unknown place, a man of his thirty’s keeps on searching the abandoned cities of another planet through his space ship. His space ship is designed like planet earth’s hawk yet it holds black and silver in color. Through his search, a lot of things are flowing at his mind.

“My son, where are you? Mommy and Daddy miss you so much. Me, daddy, keeps on looking for you throughout space. I know the terrible things that our race has done to you. But please show a sign that you are still alive. I wanted to make … amends for not helping you when you need it the most. Even I miss my wife who is still praying not just for your return. But mine as well. If only our humanity stays in eternal peace where we won’t suffer at all from the darkness of life itself.”

As he examines the final building, empty handed, he sheds tears as he moves on to another part of space.

“I promise you my son. I will save you from those who kidnapped you.”

    Default Chapter 23: Cloaked Riddles

“Mama. Pa … pa?” my baby tries reaching to daddy. It hurts me to see both of us hurt from Lucas. He couldn't wake up even if he is still alive.

“I still see him as someone dying. I’m so sorry my love, I’m so sorry.”

“mommy. Papa … mommy.” Our tears flow with each other as we lay our heads next to each other. Now my child will never say ‘I love you’ to Lucas in the future. The room we are staying is like a room where the sun can be felt despite the cold colored walls blocking it. The bright yellow rays looks warm but it feels very cold.

“Hello there. Miss Tanabata.” I look everywhere in the room as to where that person came from. But the moment I look behind, my world just stops. Something sharp touched my neck. Its arms crawling at my stomach as I feel lighter … that is, no longer my baby is resting at my arms. It is now carried by something very frightening. A tivanian that I couldn't make wearing a cloak of dark silver.

“Wh-what are you doing here? L-let my child go! I don’t want him dead. Please! He is still too young to even suffer like my master way back when I was still young. I just lost my husband from Herbardam two days ago within my dreams. Now it’s coming to life right before my eyes today!” this can’t be happening now. Please don’t. Being confident is now gone. I’m scared. That shady person is placing a knife close at my fragile baby. He is also crying nonstop from everything that is happening. Even if I tried approaching close to her, it is threatening me to stay put at the corner of the room’s door.

“O chosen mother of Feli. I come here to send you a message. A trial for your family’s destiny. Deny so and you will face only the upcoming en-” a loud ‘slam’ ruptures behind me.

“CELENA! STANDBACK!” That voice … just shove me away. What is Zoxi doing here?

    “Zoxi!”

“No time for chit-chat! If I hadn't arrived here fast enough, you may have been killed!”

    “But Lucas is dead!”

“What?!” that voice of his is scary. He is very angry when he looked at my lover’ remains. “You … you did this to him did you?!” by the way he acted, he just rushed against it, trying to land a blow. But he stopped when that shady person uses my child as its shield. It really hurts me more that he has to be the witness of this event. He has no choice but to step back.

“I’d say you should stand back and listen to me first. Or do you want to be the one accidentally murdering the Goddesses chosen one.” He knows it well that he couldn't do it, “What makes you think you are his father anyway?” this shadow just keeps its guard up on my child.

“It’s because he sees me as an uncle of sorts. So that is why I still have responsibility for Lucas well-being. What do you want with me at Auvelis Village back then? You tried to kill me at that time! You better have an answer to that since you killed my son in some way as well. I can’t forgive you for what you did to this young family impostor!” Zoxi. Has he changed? Or is this something I’ve never seen about him before. Did he have a son back then? Or is it my husband that he sees as a son? It brings back those at my mind the way he acts right now.

“Nah. I ain't his dad. I was just about to adopt you as my son out of pity in the cold night way back. Our hero arrived a bit later after bringing ya inside Lucas. I remember him taking you as a father figure. But after ya left, you kinda called me ... Uhhh…”

    “Uncle?”

“Hmmm … I guess so you said. I dunno what he said to you. Even I can’t fathom why he wanted me to be an uncle figure for you. But it sure was a long time. The only thing I clearly remembered was that we debated to whom you will belong to ma boy.”

Was all of this my master’s plan to Zoxi, his best friend? I couldn't let it go off my head while I’m still very confused thinking about the dying state of my child and Lucas. The wind just spread from behind me as I felt two more people enter this place.

“Oh Feli. You have got to be insane. What are you doing here with these three? What’s with the knife you are placing next to the baby? You better not do what I think you are about to do.” Verdio. Alongside him is another tall guy that I do not know.

“While all you are squabbling to one another, why don’t we just keep ourselves quiet and give ourselves a proper discussion?!” Verdio’s companion, while he is like our master, he seems much more composed and assuring even if he slams the wall with his fist. Unlike that guy, Verdio speaks harshly and mean. “Now. Tell me then … stranger. Why are you here in the first place? Are you here to harm somebody?”

A moment of silence in the entire hospital.

“Thank you Sir Erin. I am here to deliver a message for you, Celena. From Feli herself.” this unseen face creep me out.

“Huh?” I wonder what the caped person meant by me as the chosen one.

“This one encounter that you have with me right now is one of her trials that you must overcome. I promise you that your baby will not be murdered by my own hand. It is merely my way of testing you. Your husband is still alive. Those symbols marked on your husband are part of Feli’s grand plan. You must know Feli’s given destiny to you and your family.” It just keeps getting stranger and stranger to me.

“This voice behind the cloak … what is it saying to me?” after a short step, I speak once again, “Wait. I don’t understand the whole thing. You said I have a destiny that I must find. But I want you to answer me these things I ask. Promise me that you let Jireh go before I can even listen to your speech.”

After a moment of silence, “Deal.” As it lets me carry my baby, Jireh can only cry in my embrace.

“Why am I chosen by Feli when there are many others like me? Importantly, what does my family have that our Goddess wanted? Where do I even start on this destiny you are telling me? What about my husband?”

When it digs through its cloak, it is holding the same orb that I recall last year, “Remember this orb Celena? This is the very same thing that I embed to Avea months ago. The one on Lucas is different yet the same purpose for your family. Your dreams of suffering, especially Herbardam, are Feli’s trials for you to overcome. Those two riddles, along with your dreams, are your keys to discovering you and your family’s true destiny. It is a language you still need to find. For all answers will be revealed within these riddles that the Goddess has pass on to your family. You must find people who can aid you on your journey. There will be more encounters for you like what Lucas is having right now. It is all up to you on how you overcome those trials ahead. I’m sure the rest will be much harder this time.” It tosses the red orb that I catch it unscratched. But now it is holding two more round things on its hands.

It turns its back from all of us, “Don’t you ever think I’m someone that you should blame with everything happening to you. Follow your beliefs, Feli’s and my message, and you WILL be able to awaken your husband again. He will be your most important key to your family’s fate. One last thing, one of you guys already hold the tongue of our Goddess.”

“Cel! Watch out!” when I see it raise it arms, Zoxi shields both of us the moment I heard a cloudy explosion. It’s loud but it doesn’t hurt at all. As it clears out, that cloaked person disappeared. What is left is a piece of paper with writings like those symbols that my husband have.

When I arrive at the hospital exhausted, there’s a crowd of people blocking the gate to the hospital. But they are making space. There’s a group of people walking out of the hospital. Along with …

“Celena?” I make a run for her and both of us gave each other a hug, mainly my young sister. “What happened to you? I saw the hospital explode with white smoke. Please tell me something.” She just kept herself quiet for a moment. Looking at her tells me something deep has happened. But what could it be?

“I’ll tell you along the way. Follow us.” Cel.

“Aun…ty.” I’m sorry Jireh. I’m sorry I wasn't here for you and mommy.

    Default Chapter 24: Dessert's Epitome

Author's note: As of now, this is the end of the Herbardam Arc as we move on to the next arc. but over the past moths, I've been having writer's block issues. Meaning, I kinda needed a long break. Even if finding inspirations for my chapters are fun, there are times where I'd rather do something else in life. What made me lost the mood to write was when I FAILED MY ADVANCED C++ PROGRAMMING SUBJECT! ( 0.5! 74% below. ) Which is now going to be more difficult to manage my schedule on the upcoming month of June since I have to retake my failed subject ile I have to go back to C++ basics just to master it.

Intertwining w/ said statement above, I'v been adding and tweaking the story plot of the upcoming chapters as of late. I've been planning new upcoming characters for the next arc up until the last arc. Currently, there are going to be 20 characters [2 being villains later on] in this series.

anyways, I hope you guys will enjoy this latest chapter during my construction of my story.

It is now our second day here at Herbardam Sanctuary, Verdio’s homeland. We are temporarily living with Verdio’s colleague’s house. I begin looking back at what the hooded tivanian spoke to me while I lay on my selected bed. That day changed my life. I never dreamed of meeting someone who knows something about me and my family. Lucas may be saved, but I feel like I still lost him for good.

“Morning. Celena. We are sorry for what happened … to your husband back then.” Avea. She and her twin came to our place last midnight. I don’t know why both of them are here.

“I see. Understood.” I’m a bit thirsty from all the tears and agony I feel in and out of myself.

“Will you be okay-“ Johanna, you think you know my suffering? You don’t.

“SHUT IT! You’re saying it is going to be okay?! When I saw Lucas died right before my eyes? How about seeing someone using my child and nearly getting killed by your friend?! Or worse, being blamed by someone just from your own weaknesses? Just leave me alone!”

Hearing those footsteps, the twins left me in my room as they close my door. Crying is my only way by now. “It’s all my fault.”

Jireh and I are merely watching the things that Verdio and the friend he introduced to me last night, Erin, are solving with those strange writings that I don’t have a drop of understanding to tell.

“I’m afraid you still have to cling on to Jireh until Celena recovers Mien Rin. She just lost it this time. The impact of events to her devastated her rational side of thinking. This may be a long procedure. Let us hope she can recover. But for the time being, she must not encounter any conflicting events. She seriously needs some time to sort thing out by herself.” hearing my best friend’s sigh, it breaks my heart to hear Johanna telling me that my sister just lost her senses this time. I remember telling both of my best friends on what happened to my sister yesterday, though the last part that happened at the hospital was spoken by Verdio. I’m an idiot to forget that she hated people who talks harshly and straight to the point.

“Aunty … mama? … ma…ma? mommy … … aunty…” he must be weeping like my sister. His tears flow like a stream of grained salt yet he remains voiceless. I may not understand what he thinks now. He is behaving strangely to me. We can only look at the window and hope that Jireh’s mommy will be okay again.

I can’t tell what time is it already. But it feels like a long time already. It is sunset right now.

“It is now ready Miss Tanabata.” Erin himself, of all the people, came to fetch me? He speaks to me comfortably quiet, “Look here miss. I know that he can be quite cruel to you but we just wanted to help you. All of us do. I know what Verdio, my best friend, did to you two days ago but he is also just like us. If he ever let loose his anger, I’ll make sure he doesn't make it harsh for you. Consider it as my way for his and my mistake for what he did to you. If you blame him, you also criticize me in the process.” He wraps his long arms around me.

“Can I trust him this time? No. He is Verdio’s companion. But then again, the way he respects us, and the way he acts concerned to me, he is being sincere. Just like back then.” I just wanted to cry and weep now that I can’t hold it off.

“It’s okay. I’m here for you. Just like your friends and sister. Your baby too worries for you. Shed out your tears. Don’t hold it back.” Erin, he’s like somebody else entirely. I just cry myself out until I can cry no more.

Moments later, he escorts me to his room. It’s filled with papers with drawn weird shapes posted on the wall. Creative but I find it so vague to read.

“I know it is making you a bit dazed. Remember what that hooded person told you? I managed to make those symbols readable to you.” Raising his arm at the chair next to my sister, I sit down and carried Jireh once again.

“Now that everyone is here, would you tell us on what is written on those two things Erin?” for such a mean guy, he’s too curious.

“Sure. Miss Celena, remember the orb that the tivanian gave you? I believe that the message is something for you and your family who knows way back then. I don’t know. But here is what it says.”

“O family of fate. Hear the call of Feli, the goddess whom educated thy Tivanes. Witness here the birth of life. A power of hers divided on your land. Thou must overcome the dark guilt within your child. For this child is blessed for great destiny. O bearer of thy child’s blood, find the voice of thy master’s successor. Overcome this will save your child from the darkness from his ancestor.”

“A dark guilt from Jireh? Thy master’s successor? Darkness from his ancestor? What are those things meant?” I ask as I feel so awe yet clueless on this riddled writing.

“From what is written, the way I see it is that you, Celena Tanabata, are Feli’s chosen to find and conquer those three things that she wants you to find. It is like telling you that your child … which I find intriguing … is the center of this said destiny for you and your family. Not sure what does your child have anyway? I don’t get it very much at all.” Verdio can actually speak normally? Why is he hiding it from all of us?

“Awwww. Looks like you do know how to talk like an average tivanian.” Erin lays a shoulder at him while gives a smile to all of us.

“Oh shut it pal! I’m just not so good at it.” Hearing that from Verdio makes my sister giggle at him.

“Now that we are done with this little ruckus, this is something I want to know from you best friend. What do you know about our kingdom’s history?”

“You’re questioning me about my novel? How kind of you.” I’m sure the way he speaks confidently only made me more uneasy, just like way back at the Luxentum Express.

“Before our kingdom existed, it was once covered in ice and dessert sand. It was inhabitable to any of Feli’s first born tivanians. This land was guarded by an ancient hermit who turns any visiting tivanian into dessert sand whenever someone enters its territory on the icy realms of our kingdom. But … there is one couple that crossed the dessert and met the old hermit. In a twist of fate, instead of being dessert sand, the ancient hermit gave them the power of Mother Nature by turning the couple themselves into the first Mother Genesis Tree. It is the biggest tree of our kingdom found here at Herbardam Sanctuary. What our legend says is that this is the quickest kingdom to blossom from the desecrated lands of our planet’s beginning. As for the hermit, it is a being of mystery other than the one who turned our ancestor’s bodies into the Mother Genesis Tree.”

“I think it is time that all of us to connect our kingdom’s legend to yours. Are you ready to listen maam?” of course I am ready without a talk.

“Mother of great destiny. My chosen child, Celena. I fear that starting from your time your race will face a grim danger which will involve every Tivanes somewhere in the near future. A dark truth that will expose itself to ill suffer all of you my children. A truth that will end the bloodline of your race. It is time that I call the ones deem worthy of my creed. You must learn to become a unique person. Your husband will not be at your side as you face my trials. Do not fear. Once you fulfill your duty, Lucas will also encounter the trials you are about to face soon somewhere in the future. Somewhere within the land of Numolap and Tichipala, you must find the three other trees where Herbardam’s children reside. Find their successors, and they will lead you to the next riddle.”

“… … … … … Everything is … riddling. Am I supposed to look … for other trees?” it really ponders me on what Feli wants me to do. Should I even believe this? I don’t know how long I've been choosing choices, but I made a difficult decision. “If this riddle will help me awaken Lucas … I will do it.”

“Are you truly willing to do this Cel?” big sister.

“What choice do I have? If my baby learned that Lucas died at a young age, I will regret it for eternity. I’m now the only one who can save both my child and my beloved.” I’m not losing my only piece of hope now.

“You can’t do this alone. If you are ready to travel in places we never thought we would be visiting,” feeling her embrace tells me everything, “I’m joining you.”

“So do we. The moment I saw you crying at Lucas body, I finally knew what to do. No. what BOTH OF US have to do. We wanted answers.” The twins, how convenient they can be. Avea, when I change, you sort of act like me too. Johanna remains the same still.

“Life is getting more interesting to me when I saw this Miss Celena. Something tells me that you don’t know a thing on what you are about to discover. You need someone like me.” Erin, that’s so generous of you. “I bet you also need a bit more inspiration from our young lady pal.”

“N-no I don’t. I got enough from this couple already. Besides, she’s a typical young girl.” For such a toughie writer, he cannot get his mean attitude so sturdy for a long while.

“Gaaawwwhhh really Verdio. Maybe you’re just jealous!”

“No I’m not! I just … find their story … alluring.”

“Then why are you denying the offer?”

“Because she didn't ask me so.”

“…Ok then. Alright everyone, let us pack up-“

“Oh I take it back Erin! You got me again. I’ll join you guys again. But note that I’m merely a novelist. I’m just here to get a story idea from YOU miss young mommy.” Uuuggghhh. You annoying guy!

“Ahhh that’s what you’re missing now pal. You are just too grounded to spoil your attitude a bit.” Erin makes his pal so funny.

“Shut up.” Poor mean writer just left me giggling. I hope Erin does it again to Verdio.

With all of us preparing for our search expedition, time will tell if I can do something great.

    Default Chapter 25: Autumn grains

Authors note: Sigh. his novel of mine is giving me a lot of anticipation for the upcoming chapters. I've got a feeling that some of you wanted to see action in my story. Well then, it will happen starting next chapter. Since I'm using this in my video game project as well, I've been editing and furnishing my GDD (Game Design Document) so far. At this chapter, I experimented doing a baby's PoV. I hope you may find it cute.

To be honest, this chapter should have had like 4000+ words at first since I had t add the details on the search about the folklore of the kingdom my heroine is standing. But after checking it a couple times, I figured that it makes the chapter quite a filler type. But this arc meant a lot of important plot lines are needed. So I decided that I skip the unneeded town scenes and mold the Folklore of all towns on one simplified scene on the ext important location which will connect this chapter and the next one.

Note of advice. There are about 4 different POVs in this story.

    Hivanis Arc: Magmari

Every time I have to do something else, my best friend always makes me do his own things no matter how non trivial it may be. But I just can’t ignore my best friend since we owe each other many things in our early days. This is why I have no choice but to help her against my will. “What have I gotten myself into?” “I have a theory … which I assume has something to do with this riddle. The three trees tell me that they may refer … to every village and town of our realm. But for the successors, I don’t have any clue.”

“Floramia Village, Fritea Town, and Bartoza Town. This … is certainly lots of ground to cover. Floramia Village may be the smallest. But it has one of the largest fields for us to cover ground. Perhaps Bartoza Town could work, being the shrub fruit capital of Herbardam. But that place is always overcrowded with farmers and customers every day. Fritea Town may be the place to go. But that has the second most abundant trees with civilization in Herbardam. Getting lost is certain thanks to its amount of tree houses. So where do you guys want to start?”

“ … Let’s start with Bartoza everyone. We have many more witnesses if we ask the people shopping over there. I just do not know what to even ask that is.” For a young woman, she’s still smiling so brightly. I’ll never understand why she can be that optimistic and ignorant.
Raising a hand, I grab their eyes with my closed ones.

“What now mister?” it’s as if she couldn’t forgive me for what I did to help her. Those young eyes are sharp.

“You’d be the judge.” With our meeting finished, we give ourselves all the rest we need. What a big day coming towards us tomorrow.

    Within the dream:

    “….el…. Cel… … Wa…e up.” Opening my eyes, Lucas.

    “Luc. I … I’m …”

“No need to apologize my love.” With him embracing me, I still shed my tears.

    “But … but … you’re …… you’re supposed to be-“

“Shhhh. I’ll always be with you. I’m sorry I couldn’t join you. I don’t know what awaits us. But I’m also tied to Feli’s creed. I do not know what she is setting up for me. But something tells me that it will be important. I don’t know what you will encounter tomorrow … just as you will never know what I’m already facing right now. I want you to have faith with me. Just as I have faith with you. Have faith until you wake me up from hibernation. I’m not yet dead. Believe me.”

Moments has passed until I finally speak out my will, “Lucas. Just hang in there. Believe me. I’ll save you … even if I get judged by others harshly.”

“Who would ever do that to you?” biting my lips for a bit, I tell him the man who hurt my own being. “Ahhh. The same man who did it to me. Why would you ignore him like that?”

“But I wanted to-“feeling his lips pressed to mine, I feel like a kid again.

“Did I even ask you to do it for me? We can’t just be naďve forever.” how could he be so humorous to me? “It’s true that I’m hurt. I hate him as much as you do. But he’s a man of wisdom. I’m sure he never meant to hurt either of us. He is just truthful.” With the sky shining light blue, the one person I gave my whole life slowly saps my own life as well. “Once you wake me up, I want to see the new you. Maybe you can show me a thing or two that I taught you later. Whether you are mature or not, I’ll always love you.”

Jireh looks at the tall trees during his happy ride with mommy. Along with him is his aunty Mie. Why is she not so happy? Mommy is getting quiet and not cheering him up. Along the ride, he sees the two funny fat ladies riding along. But what gave him nervousness were the funny and scary face guy, the big man with big and long arms and legs, and the thin man with a scary and pointy face. The guy with a pointy face made little Jireh shiver in confusion when he saw what the thin guy did with aunty and mommy back then. All Jireh wants is for mommy to stop looking sad. He misses the smile and joy his mommy always gives him. She smiles when she feeds him her milk, when he ate the small sweet thing, when mommy watches a wonderful field, when she tells him stories, and when she sings him a lullaby song. Her smile makes the funny and scary face guy, the guy with big arms and legs, and the guy with the scary and pointy face disappear. Mommy is his happiness. Where is daddy now? Is he still sleeping?

Days have passed when we were seeking the answers to sister’s goal back then by visiting the three other places of Herbardam. The way I see Verdio is … different. Right now, after we covered the three locations and learned the origin of their homes days ago, here we are standing at Petaline Mountain which is next to Wisdom River and Floramia Village. The entire field has flowers of many green colors with a few others to the mix.

I open up Verdio’s book once more. Whenever I do that though, I feel as if Celena hates me. Was it because of Verdio? I’m not even calling him a friend. I don’t feel so close to him. No way after what he did to me as well.
But what bothers me the most is that Zoxi and Verdio are eyeing each other … as if they are hostile to one another. I may be sitting next to Verdio but Zoxi seems to eye me with hesitation and disappointment. Just as I read on what was written, the statement he gave me, “Watch your back”, shivers me.

“Bartoza Town. That town was said to have the least soil in the entire kingdom. They believed that the reason for the town’s historical decline was an event happening somewhere else in the universe. A lot of soil was eaten by an unknown force. Herbaraians were also eaten alive back then. In their land’s place was clay all over their fields. Plants cannot grow with clay.”
“Petaline Village. Before it became what it was today, it was a dessert wasteland inhabitable for anyone to live four thousand years ago. Living at this place however, are a group of people with little identities to reveal. The old Herbarians believed that the land will never bear fruit or at least be a habitable place. However, an ancient diary was found with unknown writings in it. Without much answer, it is believed that the small group did something miraculous to the land by finding something bizarre.”
“Finally, Fritea Town. It has a legend that talks about the storm. There are only a few places where people can live a good life. The town itself was flooded but the tall trees saved them from being drowned. Thus, it was a custom for them to live atop the trees.”

“What now Miss Celena?” Verdio. Please soften up Verdio.

“I … I don’t know.” She’s not herself whenever he speaks to her. But why do I not feel so … angry?

“It’s quite pointless from what I’m seeing here. No clue or whatever?” this is going against her favor then. Not much I could do.

My twin and I stray away from the serious conversation that everybody else is dealing with now. I hate seeing my best friend and her sister not getting along with the two strangers. I know they sometimes argue. But from the look of their faces whenever they eye each other, it’s … getting personal. One of them being a big muscular guy with huge arms and legs, and the other one is a guy wearing a slender green hat who looks so fitting with a face that screams “serious business” and “straight to the point”. The last guy though, he’s not annoying at least. But seeing Verdio in person, it gives both of us a shudder. “Wow! We should bring a few of these as souvenirs Johanna!”

“We could have just bought some at the store back at Bartoza Town sister. Don’t tell me that they are overpriced compared to Navanis Keep.” Don’t ask about the currency I beg of you. But right now, I’m helping out my sister on digging the soil with the flowers intact. Avea does all of the work since I am carrying our sadistic guest’s child. I may not be the mother to her Jireh, but both of us have to keep him away from the argument of our group.

    “Sis! Look at this!”

“Huh?” from the hole she dug out, I see a perfectly carved mossy stone plate. “What is that … thing?” When I look closer, it looks like something I’ve never seen before. There are weird lines and shapes carved at it. Just as I’m about to stand up, it slowly glows an emerald color on the lines. The wind feels … off. So … light my head … dazed? It’s so … slow… relaxing.

“CELENA!! JOHANNA PASSED OUT!” what’s going with her? All of us had to catch up with her since she is picking up my baby. But the wind begins creating a storm of flowers as all of us closely arrive. “MIEN RIN! CELENA! ANYBODY! HEEELPP!” the voice may be mumbled but I think that’s what she’s saying. The storm of flower petals continues to spin all around both of them along with my child. But the wind makes me fall on my knees. Looking at them, everyone else is facing my case.

When I look at the tornado once more, my world slows down. “What are you doing to him?!”

“FORGIVE ME CEL! I CAN’T CONTROL MY BODY! I’M SORRY!” as she tosses my child high in the tornado, I feel as if she betrays me. Screaming my child’s name, I slowly pass out with the wind ripping my heart.

Default Chapter 26: Parable of the Seed

Author's note: By this time, my novel is at the part where Celena gets to fight this time. I figured that my heroine should wield a crossbow. I mean, are there any other heroes who wielded a crossbow as their main weapon? NOT a Bow and Arrow!

Anyway, like last time, serious and important events occur this time. The slouchy things would be every now and then. For some relief, I'm replacing the banner of my story with a new one soon. I just recently shopped for one. It would be posted by the time I got the next chapter finished either a few more days before my Midterm exam next week or after my midterm examinations after next week.

Enjoy reading it. It's currently the highest chapter with 2000 + words thanks to the amount of events happening in this

    “Son … that …? Am-…. I’m coming … … you. Han- … little … -ger. –add- … … you.”

Famine Mountain. A mountain where red violet and dark brown reign supreme and satisfied for it has eaten many famished beings walking on its mountain.

Waking up as she looks at the distant peak, Celena stands up on her arms and legs. Groaning as she tries standing up though, something solid is strapped on her back. From what she can guess that’s on her back, two solid thongs on her back.

“What the?” reaching out her left arm, she pulls out what looks like a wooden stick with a curved structure on one side holding a thin line of string. Removing the second thing on her back, it looks like a tall and thin cylinder can made out of leather with feathery things popping out of the opening. As she pulled out one of the feathers, she noticed that the feather is attached to a stick with a hard pointy edge. The curve of it was designed like wings that match a furry scarf closely similar to her scarf.

Just as she lifted her left hand and wrist, she noticed a sleeve. Her clothes were now completely different. Now she is wearing light brown colored short pants that are very warm as if her hips and legs are made of fur. Looking at her upper body, her bra now looks like a whole white cloth serving as both her inner bra and an outer layer that is also as warm as cotton. She had to admit that having her shoulders, arms, and stomach not clothed is very flattering. On her hair, she is wearing what seems to be a bandana built for her head, just thinner and a bit harder than an ordinary bandana. The last thing she wanted to see is that her birthmark is now placed on her stomach.

“Where … am I anyway? This place … and-“

Footsteps. Looking right, I see the same shady person I encountered before. When I look at the scary figure though, I’m slightly taller compared to itself. What is it doing here? Until it speaks up to me once more, “Congratulations Celena. You and your friends found your way to Feli’s first trial. Welcome … to Famine Mountain.”

Everywhere I look, this place feels so lifeless. The ground looks like hardened rocks, trees and grass are decayed, and the night sky is stained with colors of poisoned blood. My mind just can’t stop looking at the world’s pain that it hurts. Why is Feli showing me this?

“Chosen one. It’s from your own choice that leads you to this. Your dedication to save your child and your husband’s suffering is more than enough to deem you worthy. Now then, I want you to be honest. Tell me, do you still worship your master as your father figure?” I said yes. “Now then … do you still remember the Spiritual Massacre?” as I said no, it expresses a sigh.

“Don’t you remember anything about your past encounters with your master?” The more I hear this, the more I find it painful to recall for I couldn’t remember a single thing. “Tell me everything about yourself and your life. How’s that sound?” As it starts walking, it raises its hand that tells me to follow. I told it everything on how I met my master, my sibling and husband, my child, the friends and people that I liked and hated, and on how my master saved us from those shadows.

“Struck with amnesia I see. Though you may not have amnesia at all, you only lost most of your memory about your last encounter with your master. I could only enlighten you so much. But … during the time your master saved your life, you along with your husband, and sister, were at the heart of the darkness that Goddess Feli feared. That is … the Spiritual Massacre.” From the name itself, it makes me stop inhaling for a moment? What could have happened on that day back then?

“Enough about that. I have to warn you that this world is unlike your world. This is the dark side of your world. Hostility is very high, safety can only be found in a few places, peace and happiness are difficult to find, and survival is the motif. A lot of encounters you may find here will involve your very own life, for many will kill you with varying reasons. What you witness here … is the future of your world.”

“This … this …my world … in the future?” No. This couldn’t be true. No way this going to happen! I don’t believe this! I could only sob the more I wanted to go back home.

“Times like these are as difficult as raising children on a peaceful world. What you’re experiencing is only one of many trials that will strengthen yourself. A lost parable said that all of us start small. Those who never encountered and overcome any trial will always stay as a seed.” Is that … one of Feli’s words of wisdom, “Right now, I can only give you ways to get out of this world and survive. Are you still holding that crossbow of yours?” is it referring to this stick with a string?

“You mean … this thing? What’s a crossbow?” as I ask my client, it’s picking up a piece of pointy stick from it case and inserts it in this so-called crossbow.

“A crossbow is a weapon,” it began breathing in some air that I find stale, “You need to learn how to fight. For this place … is a live another day, or die in vain.” Hearing that click, it pointed the crossbow at my chest. My life will never be the same again.

Sometime has passed on my journey has passed since my first encounter in this world. That stranger trained me through the basics of defending myself from the enemies of this place before we follow a route to save my friends. It made me sick and terrible at first for I had quite a number of bruises and cuts. I merely supported the stranger in our battles along the way. The enemies I’ve been fighting are enemies that are beyond my imagination to even fight even if they are not that strong. It comes from the likes of vicious dogs, to murderous birds, and stealthy snakes. The further we fight, more likely my client fights throughout the way, the more I feel this bizarre exhaustion taking over me. I’m quite terrible at using my crossbow. Maybe it’s because I’ve never fought for my own life before.

“Being hungry is one thing. Seeking what you hunger is another.” What could it be telling me now? It is speaking a variety of vivid emotions that often confused me. I really am hungry right now.

“We’re getting close to your friends.” A few moments later, I can see some activity going over there.

It is then that I find my other companions on a campfire. Mien Rin looks like she is wearing a tight kimono with sleeves that are two times longer than either of her own arms and hands combined. Her legs are also like tight pants while she wears wooden sandals like I do. The color of her clothes contains a lot of violet and lavender in varying light and dark tones. The tight shirt sleeves though are designs stripped with alternating colors between dark and light violet. Tied to her pants is what my client called a whip. She seems to be resting.

Johanna and Avea are wearing the same thing. They are wearing light pink silk clothes designed like a raincoat. Avea is holding what looks like a tall stick with a gem glued on top, which makes it as tall as her while Johanna is holding quite a thick book with letters of our world. I can’t help but wonder what they could possibly do with their new abilities. Johanna seems to be talking to the book while Avea has her eyes closed and singing words of her own too.

Zoxi and Erin nearly look similar on what they are wearing. They are wearing clothes that fit the likes of a Fighter, said my shady client. Erin has a lot more green coloring and also sturdier thanks to his metal clothing. Zoxi, on the other hand, has a lot more orange coloring and is less plated which makes him faster and more nimble than Erin. Curious on their new look, on the backs of their clothes are the symbols of our birthmarks. Both of them are sort of fighting in a friendly way against each other. I hope it’s not something personal.

Verdio’s new look sets him apart from the rest of us. He is hooded like the Lexyria twins. But when he raises his hands, I see shining blades growing out of his wrists, more to that is that his clothing is a mix of silver and dark green. He’s just … staring at his new things.

“Thanks for waiting. Here is your friend once more everyone.” The shady person, who spoke monotonous, began speaking in a mature feminine like voice.

“Why are we here anyway? Just … who are you?” Oh sister. You can’t tell huh?

“I’ve already told you Mien Rin. That shady person was the one who nearly murdered me, your sister, and her child.” Hearing that from him once more only makes it painful for me.

“Did I hear something negative?” seeing the shady person’s left hand glowing green with a sharp blade growing on it, tells me that I’d rather not join him.

“Uhm well … not really. You’re the one who called Celena and told her that she’s part of a legacy she must fulfill.” Zoxi could only stand back.

“Say … stranger. You sound like … a woman. So … who … are you?” just as I finished speaking, she seems to emit white smoke again while I hug close to my sister. It is then that all of us get to see what she looks like.

Behind the dark silver cloak is a young teenage girl wearing clothes so rugged, dirty, torn, and decayed. It’s not so clean and it barely resembles a pinkish green color. She must have been wearing marriage kimono-like clothing like I did back then. It’s only when I see Johanna pass out of fright as her sister tries all she could to bring her back up.

“Flora. Flora is my name.” its voice changes one more to a young girl this time.

“Whoa … you’re … so young. What is a young Herbarian doing … here?” when I just witness Verdio change his blank smile to a smile of wonder and awe, he was not the same guy that I hated like Lucas did.

“… ’Ey Verdio, bud. Are ya’ okay?” As Erin tries to land his shoulder, Zoxi gets in the way.

“Me. I’m so hungry.” Poor little girl. She must have not been eating for who knows how long.

Yet something feels off about her, “But … little Flora. How have you kept yourself so strong? You look like the one who could just … collapse … at any moment.” When our eyes meet, something inside me feels … empty.

“Young mommy. Do you know … the Parable of the Seed?” hearing that phrase reminds me of the times all three of us (Lucas, Mien Rin, and I) listen to our father’s stories during the night.

She opens her hand and gives me a piece of seed, “The Parable of the Seed tells the story about the tale of two survivors who were stranded on a desolated land. A farmer and a rancher got themselves lost in the burnt forest. While the rancher carried a piece of sliced meat from one of its own well raised animals, the farmer only carries a bundle of seeds.” I give my sister a nod to approach me. But as she gets closer, Flora cradles herself to me. “Something wrong little girl?”

“That tall lady is a bit scary. Can you carry me while you tell me the story young mommy?” Just as I carry her in my arms, a smile blooms in her face.

“Now that she called me mommy, where’s my child? I may as well ask her.” “Flora. Have you seen a little baby somewhere in this mountain?” As I finish my question, her expression changes to something lonely. Silence surrounds us once more.

“Are you here to help mama Feli?” I give her my nod, “Promise me you will help her.”

“I promise.” Flora must be shedding her tears on mine. I don’t know what it’s like to be a child with no one to love with on this lonely world.

“Celena. Bring me over there.” She raises her hand towards the northeast of our direction, “everyone else, follow us.”

    Post Chapter 27: Fruits labor

Author's note: I truly apologize for the Uber long one month and 2 weeks delay of this story. In fact, a lot of crap ton college work seriously blocked me. Right now, It's Lenten Season for us here (everything celebrating the tales of Christ, you know ...), so I can finally do some more catching up as well. By now, this is the longest chapter I've ever written in this series.

To add some news to this novel of mine, I added some extra details to most of the currently existing chapters. So that's some work I've been doing. I mean, I find it mysterious as to how my story vanishes from the choices of Non-Pokemon stories Page just a few days before classes ended. I'm making sure that it will be known once again.

For a special bonus for those who are reading this, I'm showing you one of my characters that I've been sketching for the past couple weeks via paper and Adobe Photoshop combined.

But for the next chapter of this story, I got a feeling that I'll be able to post it here by the end of my examination finals somewhere in the second or third week of April. Got tons of projects to do. And one of those projects is to create a Mini-manga. yeah ... fun isn't it? Easy? I'd say not so much. It's tedious work for sure.

For my present, here it is. Celena Tanabata at her battle forme

Now, read, review and enjoy. I hope this chapter I'm posting as of today will make it up for my long absence

Now that I look back at it, I think her looks … scared the life out of Johanna. Was Verdio merely covering his fright? Why the sudden change of personality?

I may as well continue telling Flora the story. Who knows how long she stayed in this empty place? A place where no one will love you nor hate you, it’s too much to bear for a little girl.

“The Parable of the Seed tells the story about the tale of two survivors who were stranded on a desolated land: a mother and a son. They have a happy ordinary life in the forest. But one night, a lightning storm struck the forest they have come to love for many years. They had no choice but to leave their paradise. Both of them got themselves lost in the burnt forest. While the rancher carried a piece of sliced meat from one of its own well raised animals, the farmer only carries a bundle of seeds. Both of them become so hungry when both made it out of the burnt forest and continued pushing forth in the lonely fiend of emptiness. There was not a single tree on sight, only decaying grass, broken branches, and soil. As both found a rock to rest, the rancher starts collecting the decayed grass and broken branches to build a campfire and start cooking his slice of meat. The farmer on the other hand, planted most of her seeds at the soil.”

“The rancher knew that his only slice of meat may last for a couple days. The farmer, on the other hand, only has the seeds of her crops to feed herself with. The rancher, being the son, knew that his mother, the farmer, is growing old of age. The son is determined to keep both of them alive. As he slices a piece of his meat for his old mother, the farmer passes the offer and told the son that he can have to himself. The son feels quite hurt to hear that from the mother he cares so much. Why did the farmer rejected the son’s slice of meat?”

“The mother said that she will be okay. She knew that her son will be looking out for her. Yet she knew her duty to accomplish. She knew her body will stop breathing life after the incident with the forest fire. Seeing her burnt skin, and the deep cut on her left arm wrapped with his son’s clothes, she will be the food that her son will need to survive. In every night the son sleeps, she unwrap the bandages on her wound as she waters the seeds using her very own blood. She knows that her son will regret her choices if she just told him straight away. All that she can do is to pray that someone will save her son from this empty land. Slowly, she feels her body weakening from her blood loss as days has passed. Then she smiled as her body finally stops beating life just as she hugs the soil.”

“Thus, when the searchers found the young rancher man the next few days, the farmer is crying on the ground filled with strawberries next to the body of his dead mother. It is then the son realizes his mother’s love when he takes a bite of the strawberry. It is then he understands why his aging mom refused to eat the spare meat he shared to her yesterday. It is through her love and faith that kept him alive. Looking at the soil, it’s soaked with his mother’s old blood. From his view, since they were at a land far away from any source of water, his mother had faith that her own blood will nourish the seeds she planted on the soil. Maybe she had faith that if she can keep her son alive, her peaceful death will be worth the wait for her son to be saved.”

As we arrive on the place Flora wanted us to check, my body went stiff on what’s in front of my eyes.

“Th … that … that’s me.” Every detail of my clothes in my world is clear. It seems I’m seeing myself as a ghost.

“This is where I found your baby. Chosen mother.” Flora … called me … chosen?

“But … my baby. Why isn’t he here? I can only see myself.” I said

“Your child is here I’m sure.” How could my child be here.

“Flora. Th-th-there’s no way that my baby could have gone out alone by himself. He must be travelling out somewhere.” After I said that, my sister calls me out. But as I hear her steps closer, I hear her gasp at me

“Cel … Celena. Y…you… you’re—you’re a … you’re a…” Mien Rin. When I turn back at her, everyone else are in shock. But the twins pass out cold this time.

    “I’m what?” I asked.

“Celena!” Zoxi tries to approach me.

“You better hold it for a while. I do not like what is happening now.” Erin. Why are avoiding him to approach me?

“You’re a ghost!” when she point her hand at me, Verdio acts up by pulling her away while I can see Erin restraining Zoxi from stopping my sister’s captor.

“Verdio! Let her go—“just as I’m about to shove him, I just pass through both of them. Just as I stop moving, I’m so confused while my heart just moves out of control.

“You’re in conflict with your other half chosen mother. That is the ‘you’ when you’re pregnant with your child. Look closer,” I just did what Flora asks me. Looking at my other self, my waist still looks flat. But what’s disturbing is when I see something small inside, “That little egg was the one you and Lucas created. But this time, your conflicting souls are chambering your child’s spirit in ignorant bliss. It seems you’re so troubled with something you cannot share to anybody.”

Looking as to where the twins fainted, both of them recovered from “a while ago”.

“You’re hiding something from the people you trust? That’s something new.” Erin, from how he speaks, sounds … skeptical. “Why don’t you tell us about it?”

“Wh-what happened?” Both Johanna and Avea stretch up while asking us.

“Our client told us that your best friend is hiding something serious from all of us. Personal life? Something stolen? I don’t know. But I think she did a good job on it. But she’s now cornered.” I had it with that writer being against me a lot when I clench my hands and teeth while looking at myself. As he looks on the twins, “Now it’s both of you two to return her the favor.”

“Celena. I hope you won’t restrain it as I speak.” Avea … she’s serious, “I knew what happened to you and your family last year when I got that illness. I wasn’t ill at all. I see visions of events that will happen to … you. Wherever we are now, you have something that I can get to know the missing answer I’ve been looking. Tell me. What is your problem now?”

“If you don’t do so … I might have to force it out of you for what you did to my sister.” Johanna looks into my eyes.

Silence is wrapping itself around all of us. Biting my lips and having a hard swallow, I brace myself for the worst.

“I … I regret being a young mother. It’s too soon. I am not yet ready for parenthood. I … I encouraged Lucas to mate with me back then … three days before we got married. I begged him to do so. I just love him so much that I want him to be happy. When Lucas surely planted his seeds the second time, during my blissful sleep, I … had … a nightmare. It’s about … our … future.”

“I never knew that I’ll be saying this to you Miss Celena. It wasn’t my son’s fault. I can tell already from his manners. You let your naiveté get the best of you. When that happens, you become an irresponsible girl. So … this is what you and Lucas have been hiding from me during those days back then. When I saw your baby last year, my first thought was that you two are raising an abandoned son. Now that you told me about this, you finally relieved me from my worries. So … I forgive you.” Zoxi. After everything I did through your son.

“But this time, you must obey with my promise. Right now, you must mature up as a tivanian: mentally, and spiritually. Lucas is carrying half of the burdens of parenthood. He will need you to carry the other half. I may not be married like you do. But I can understand just how difficult it is. Promise?”

“I promise Zoxi. I have made a big mistake back then. Right now, once I save Lucas, I have many things to make up for my mistakes.” As I finish my promise, all of us heard Flora’s screaming within the distance behind us.

As we found her, she’s held captive by … none other than my other self. It left me in shock to see myself being a lot angrier than I usually am. It’s also using the same crossbow I’m using as well. But the design of it looks scarier than my version. It’s like seeing black sharp wings on it. Just seeing that up close to Flora frightens me if it’s planning to kill her.

“Celena! Help me!” Flora seems to be floating in air with glowing red rings imprisoning her.

“You! Celena! How could you do this to me big me?! I wanted all of those things that I did back then! Now why are you rejecting all of them?! Having a kid is NOT PART OF WHAT I WANTED! From the things I want, I keep them; AND FROM THE THINGS I DON’T WANT, I GET RID OF THEM! If I had to end my unwanted child’s heartbeat just to make me happy without those big responsibilities, I WILL DO IT! If you guys are going to stop me, be my guests! I will make sure your lives end here!” the other “Celena” said to me.

“I’m sorry little me. Normally, I will agree with you. But if I continue in life without changes, I won’t be able to enjoy the upcoming great things that life has to give me. But if you continue to be that way, looks like I have to teach you discipline.” With all of us getting ready for another fight, I ready my weapon.

“Damn you little Cel! I’ll never see you the same way ever again!” Zoxi. That’s just insulting.

“You better get the load of this!” the raging spirit fires a dark magical laser from her crossbow directly at Celena. As all of them are about to attack, while the real Celena dodges, the laser splits up six more pieces: all seven charging towards everyone. While the boys blocked the impact, the girls are not lucky as they’re struck hard except for the real Celena.

“Hey! Come at me bros! I bet you three want a piece of me! Let’s dance!” As all three boys charge forward, the spirit fires a stronger magical laser shot at her targets. Erin and Zoxi blocked the attack as the battle smokes out. Out of the cloudy smoke, Verdio jumps on the air and prepares to land a finishing blow at the raging half of Celena. Sadly, it misses as the enemy jumps out of the way. But it didn’t notice Mien Rin chasing her in mid-air. Eventually, the little Celena was caught by her whips, ready to slam her down to the ground.

“Nice try big sister,” Mien Rin smirked at her success, “But not good enough!” in a twist, little Celena used her momentum to turn Mien Rin around and it was her pursuer who got slammed to the ground instead.

Within the smoke where Mien Rin crashed, as she lands on the ground with one foot stomping her right breast, she points her crossbow at her forehead. “Any last words?”

Mien Rin sees within the distance her real sister and her best friends ready to go with the real final blow. “Yes sister. Grow up.”

As the little Celena heard the word up, she’s struck down by a powerful magical arrow with light to one of her lungs. Try as it tries to stand up, the half of Celena lands with a thud on the ground a bit distant from Mien Rin.

The imprisoning rings surrounding Flora Vanished as everyone else gathered together at Mien Rin. The boys did what they could to help her stand up. It is then that Celena can hear her “naďve self” speak her last words to herself. “You did … what you did. Now I see … the consequence of my actions. If I had done it before … while … your child’s inside me, I would be … somebody else. I may never come back at you again. But … keep your … child happy.” It is then that the naďve half of the “real Celena” fades into the light.

    Default Chapter 28: Our losses...

Author's note: by tomorrow, I'll be taking my final examinations. But after creating a chapter for both Feli Chronicles and my recently released PMD story, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Forgotten Life, I am here to give you the next chapter to both Feli Chronicles and PMD Forgotten Life

The time of dawn rises on the sleeping flowers of Petaline Mountain. The old earthen dirt of stones began to glow in a hue lime green. Few seconds later, Celena with her child and Mien Rin, along with their other companions, returned to their home. Thanking Feli for her child’s safety, she cherished every moment that her baby has to live for.

It should’ve been over: her journey. But after learning from her recent experiences, she looks back within those moments in the trial world on what she had learned so far.

“Thank you for saving me. Also … my home … is now restored.” Under Celena’s embrace, Flora cradles her as if she’s a baby both physically and mentally.

“So … have you truly seen my child Flora?” Celena asked.

“… Yes. But … your child is with my other siblings. They are … protecting him.” Just as she thought that it will be over soon, everyone else can only gap their moths wide. “As the spirit of this world, I ask you to save my other siblings. They are being chased … by the shadows. I don’t know what happened to them. But I fear that if … if … if they are sapped by the shadows … they would become like my hideous self!”

“Flora, what did those shadows do to you?” Johanna asks out of pity for what this spirit has gone through.

“… They corrupted my soul. This world itself is also my very being. They … killed all of my friends, right in front of my eyes.” The spirit uses her hand to lift her hair and reveal a flower blooming at her right eye. “Just as it was over … they tore off my eye with their hands and beat me down. But they told me something that will forever haunt me. Trust no one for everyone will bring you down. As the shadows left me hungry and lonely, their statement convinced me that I’m the only one left in this world. I lost my belief that my siblings were also tainted by those … things. I convinced myself that whoever comes here, I will stop them from harming me further … even if it means killing them. Many have tried … but only your group … defeated me.”

“You hurted my friends Flora? By attacking them?” just as Celena asked this, the spirit could only cry as she speaks. “Y-Yes. I did try killing all of them.”

“Errh … hmmm … Everything that you’ve been through … was your reason that you threatened us? I find it difficult that you had to give me a small cut on my wrist. Not only that, but you whipped the ladies themselves as well. Give me a reason why I should just ignore it then. You nearly removed my ability to write! I’m not happy about this--”

“Why don’t you just stop criticizing her?!” Celena knew that she hates facing Verdio herself. But after seeing him criticizing an innocent spirit for her actions unfairly, she couldn’t take it anymore. “If you think your cuts and whips aren’t enough, how would it feel like to be threatened alone?! Unlike you, Flora threatened me … on how she would kill me if I don’t brave up myself in this place. But after I saw her true colors, I can understand on how she’s been through. Why don’t you just forgive her like I did?”

“You little—“ thanks to Erin, he avoided the worst thing his best friend could do to Celena: unleashing his anger.

“Verdio. You better calm down now or I’ll have to stop you from getting insane myself.” Seeing Erin defend her gave her a sense of relief. He could only stay quiet after hearing that from the one young mother he pointed out as useless.

Before anyone else noticed, Flora laid a sharp finger touching the right side of Verdio’s neck, “Young man. You should have followed her instead of exploding your rage at me.” Through that assuring statement is a voice of a threat, he fell silent in shock. Unknowingly to him, she made a small cut, bleeding with a small amount of his own blood, “If I was already healed, maybe you would have been less serious by now. But I think … my siblings’ corruption affected you instead. I do not know which of my siblings. You must find them yourself.” When the spirit floats away, he could only feel his blood boiling hot while his best friend tenders his wound.

Under the embrace of Johanna, Avea, and Mien Rin, she felt relieved to have true companions on her side. Flora could only smile to hear such words to a loving mother like Celena.

“I think we are done with this hassle, where are your siblings then?” Zoxi asked Flora.

“One of my siblings is somewhere in Hivanis at your world.” Flora continues to enjoy Celena’s loving embrace.

“Where then in our world?” he asks.

“… That is something I can’t just reveal. You’ll have to find his world like how you found mine. Your child … is also facing your situation too.”
Floating out of Celena’s arms, Flora concentrated her flipper like hands on the floor until a large shining portal of green emerges. This obviously left everyone else surprised. “I think it is time that you should go,” everybody else knew what to do next as they stood on the glowing floor. “I promise to all of you. Everything will be revealed one day.”

    Later that night:

When we returned to Herbardam Sanctuary in the evening, my little sister and my best friends just went ahead to sleep in their beds found at Erin’s guest room. The two big boys are just snoring themselves at the couch. Try as I might to sleep, those two were like buddies that I will never find sleep. “Geesh. Couldn’t they at least lower their snoring down?”

“It’s strange lately. Aside from my sister’s perilous duty, something about Verdio … interests me. No no. What am I doing here thinking about him? I hated times whenever my friends just tease me for something flirty. Why the heck would I like Celena’s arch-nemesis?I don’t find him charming at all. He is too orderly almost the entire time. Not to mention, that motor mouth of his. This is not helping me at all. I may as well find something to read. My head doesn’t feel comfortable now.” Opening the door, he is not there. As I look around his room, there is a table filled with a couple books, papers, pens and pencils with erasers; his bed with a well-mannered pillow and blanket; add along a bookshelf with a few pictures on top. But looking at the table, there is one book that looks so old unlike the other ones. Curiosity got the best of me and I begin reading it as I sat on the bed.

“Unwanted end. How? How could this be? Her life … dust away by my own wind? Why did she accept it? I should be the one in her place. Not her! Why should I be the one standing? She’s merely a flower while I’m the shrub. I should be the one responsible for keeping the roots ingrained. Yet, it is she that ordered me to be plucked away by the hand of time and fate. Is this a sign of her ignorance to my loyalty and care for her own being? I believe that … I’m responsible for not blooming her up during her days as a bud-”

“Uhh-Rin? Wh-wh-what are … what are you doing here? G-give that back!” caught by surprise Verdio just snatched the book away from my hands. He looks rather … protective … and shy about something.

“But Verdio. I’m just reading it out of boredom.” What have I done? It seems I did something bad to that book. That anxious look of his gives me a feeling of guilt for disrespecting his things. “I-if it’s something that you don’t want me to a-about it-“

“How much did you read? Tell me now.” The way he asked seems to be intimidating. Like … I stole something from him that I never intend to steal at all.

“J-just half of the first page.” I said.

“Get out. Have some rest.” He stares at his book with a soft tone.

“I apologize-“despite my response, he only talked me back to stay away.

“J-just … just go now! Please … go.” Verdio. I’m sorry.

    Next morning:

Having a cup of milk at a café near the Telipa Gate, I have been thinking about everything that had happened yesterday. Damn, I am not loving what is going on by now. Like … something hidden from us is calling for us. It’s something that only our little group can know. Oh Verdio, couldn’t you ever forgive yourself? You can to me and Taiko … but you don’t to anyone else. You never even take most of my wise advises seriously. Why couldn’t you-

“Whew. Glad I found this café. There you are Erin.” As he entered the café, he gives me a call. Then he takes a seat next to my desk.

“Zoxi. What are you doing here? I ask.

“Just having some coffee.” Snapping his fingers, I knew what he wants to do. I mean, he is one of the engineers that founded the big project.

“Madam. I’ll have an order of coffee please.”

“One order of coffee coming up!” the waiter does her stuff as usual.

“For such an average Joe like him, he knows how to deal with almost any people. Probably even the likes of Verdio himself. How has he able to be bold on his thoughts while avoiding the unwanted conflicts?” It makes me wonder how.

“Hey Erin. Starin’ at yo’self by the tea? It’s gettin’ cold now. Don’t make me even drink it. My tongue hates it.” The way he talks is definitely not a pure civilized type.

    “N-nothing…”

“Dude … you look too white right now. Got a manner at somethin’?”

“I-I’d rather not talk about it.” Why am I not talking properly today?

“Just barf it out. It ain’t healthy if you cool it for too long.” That pat on my shoulder is a bit comforting if you ask me.

“Will you judge me once I tell you?” I ask.

“You know that everything gets judged. But I get to know and examine the problem first. No need to be husky…” I’ll be honest that I had a bit of nervousness with older people. It seems my new friend was one of those old people. He’s Fifty five.“Well. I’ve known him for a while now. Guess it doesn’t hurt to tell.”

After thinking it over my head, I decide to tell him about my concern: on what my best friend told me after our journey with that otherworldly spirit: it includes about his early life, his sister, the times that he sees one of the ladies like his young sister, my relationship with his sister, and her sibling’s ultimate sacrifice. But when I told him about him ending his own sibling’s life by his own hands, I couldn’t really move much.

“…as if … I find it painful that … he killed the one whom I felt in love with. Even if she forced him to do it on purpose, I became very angry at him for a moment. Our lives has changed since as we felt like brothers sharing the same burden.” Shedding my tears at the coffee, I have a couple deep breaths while I calm myself down.

“Looks like both of you suffered the same thing. I sympathize for your loss…” it is good to hear that to him, “ … was that … the reason you wanted to help Celena, my sort-of-cousin, from suffering the same fate that you had? I gave him a nod.

Default Chapter 29: Hue of Flames

“When I saw her husband, and learning her story of what happened, I remember … seeing her shoving Verdio out of harm’s way. He was ready to give his life for her. But she … was the one.” For a clever man like him, he’s too soft.

“Hold it there tear jerker! I’m not getting it clearly now. Was this girlfriend of yours wanted to commit suicide? That’s what it looks like for me. But now, she sacrificed herself. Why don’t you just tell it to me clearly?” I asked.

“… sorry. I can’t recall much of it. But my best friend knows it well. I’m sure he’ll hide it to the best he could. Damn, if he hears this now, I’m in big trouble.” Erin, what could I do to you?

I think I drank too much tea this morning. Well, more like Avea forced me to do so. But it’s not just ordinary tea. It is a medicinal tea. She’s terrible on making any hot liquid. But then again, Johanna is terrible on making cold desserts. That’s it! I need to take the toilet.

As I release the liquid piss at the toilet, the pain slowly fades away as I empty my bladder.

“If I’m telling her my own thoughts, I feel envious to Mien Rin. Even Lucas himself … I’m jealous.” Huh? Why are you envious to me? He seems to be talking to himself. “That little wispy spirit … reminded me of her. But … it is too late now. Erin … even if you forgave me, I know you hate me … for not saving her. I knew on how many times you tried to win her heart. But of course Erin, you didn’t win her heart. Your other friend did. In all honesty … I’m proud to both of you. If only, I have been more convincing to her. Since she … lost him due to illness, she … can’t live on. I failed on … comforting her in times of need. I’m … I’m sorry sister. I’m so sorry. I wanted to help you … but I let my rational thought get the better of me. My cynicism … was the thing you used to kill yourself. No wonder … I’ve come to accept for who I am. I may guide others on the direction they desire. Yet, I’ll never have the will to ease the pain of others ... for I’m worthless with other people. When the day of my winter comes, I’ll pass away all alone. No one but myself.”

Leaving the comfort room, I began packing up my things to wherever we should go next. “What took you long Mien Rin? I was waiting for you to help me feeding Jireh.” Celena is now cradling her child by herself. At least I’m happy that she is becoming a better person.

“Sorry … just feeling terrible from yesterday.” I said to her.

“Oh.” Seeing her hand hanging on my shoulder left me soft. Just the sight of Jireh sleeping eased the pain that I had.

“Celena. I know that you changed so much. And … I’m sorry for forcing you to change yourself.” I apologized.

“Sister. You don’t have to. I should be thanking … you.” She’s thanking me for the things that I did painfully (not that I bullied her. I was just strictly disciplined at her).

    “Why?” I asked.

“You fell in love with Lucas too. For someone who’s older than him.” Did you have to recall that for such a depressing time for me?

“Celena…” the two of us laughed mildly before Johanna and Avea tackled the sofa we’re sitting at.

“That sure brings back memories. I even remember that day when you’re about to pass the torch to you Mien Rin,” Avea said to me, “Don’t get me started on how difficult it was for me to uplift your mood Celena. You’re like a crying Navanian who never gets to eat the limited edition of Taminiz Candy bag.”

“You meant cry like Jireh when he’s sad or hungry.” My sister had to include her child just to humiliate her previous ego. How funny.

“Shouldn’t you be happy about this pal? I mean, WE are much more disciplined compared to both of them.” Johanna …

“HEY! We’re not so spoiled!” Seeing little sister and Avea get angry is just intolerable ... even if Johanna is stretching my cheeks like a funny, and derpy face; one that makes Jireh laugh.

“I-I-I don’t mean like now. I’m saying it was back then!” at least my friend here stopped her twin from messing up my face much more.

“Your fault then…” I disappointingly said with a sigh.

“Rin!” all of us just laughed at her whinny side. After a breather, she continued, “Don’t forget on how unconfident your little sister was back then. I remember you as the one who keeps a cool head and very sexy in every category.”

“I still recall every detail on how you looked like when you were heartbroken that Lucas chose Celena over you. But I find it odd that you are tolerant to that dramatic moment back then.” Avea punched me on the shoulder lightly. “As for you Celena, babysitting you while I teach you about romance cost me many hours of my life missing my chances to find a man that I wanted to be. I just love matchmaking two people.” She said to little sister while lightly pinching her baby.

“That’s just being you Avea. But I get annoyed by it over time unchecked.” With Celena ending our conversation, Johanna tended my wounds, and Celena’s milk producing condition is dealt by Avea.

Sunset has arrived as we finished packing up for our next journey, we can hear mumbling below us. Like a group of festival celebrating a party, we can see on the window, below us, a lot of Hivanians are here. It’s just they sound disturbed about something bad. “What’s happening down there?”

I’m the first one to step outside of Erin’s tree house as we climbed down the carved stairs. The stairs is designed inside the trunk of the tree spiraling downwards. But his place has a lot of thick and wide trees enough to make a proper house. But as we arrived at the forest floor, I can hear them talking about disappearing water and something getting hot. The amount of people going here made my baby a bit scared. I cooed at him that I’m here to protect him.

It is then we get to meet our two friends again: chatting with Taiko.

“Taiko! What are these two doing here?” I asked.

“Better yet, why are the Hivanians here?” Oh Mien Rin. I should be asking that question too. Just seeing the Wesnu family go nuts with their words gives all of us a bad feeling.

“We-well. Gimme a moment to calm them down.” He said to us. So after both of them slowed down, they began telling us on what happened.

“This day has got to be very bizarre! Like all water sources and the River dried up at exactly twelve in the afternoon! Seriously milady. If you had stayed with us back then, you do not want to imagine what is like on crossing on magma.” Keema … still sounds so panicked after calming her down.

“Don’t worry about that though. It’s natural for our race to have that ability. What happened was that the water supply in our kingdom suddenly vanished. Our investigators and miners will begin their investigation by nighttime in our kingdom.” As Trim helped her find their temporary shelter, Taiko passed us a letter.

“Something for us?” when I opened the letter, it was a short one like a sudden request.

    Dear Celena,

If you are reading this now, I ask all of you to meet us at the Telipa Gate right now. Everything will be told there.

    -from Zoximayru Ulirys
“The Telipa Gate? Everyone, follow me.” Without delay, we followed Mien Rin. Seeing all of the Hivanians worried only made me doubtful on what is going on right now.

“… This is what we found on the peak of the crater Sir Ulirys. The identity is unknown. But what we certainly know is that they are threatening us not to step any closer. It ordered us to bring yourself and your companions to the peak of Igmaragma Volcano…”

“Oh my goodness. Not you again…” Zoxi thought to himself.

Question for my supporting readers: I want to know from you guys and girls on what I am lacking im this story

As everyone arrives at the Telipa Gate, my comrades sit on the grassy dirt. I can’t dawdle like I should this time. If MY HOME IS IN TROUBLE, I ain’t resting ‘til it’s solved. I can ignore other places. But my place, Awww hell no! “You. Tell the ladies to give them their clothes now.” Pointing out my orders to one of my workers, he immediately runs to the tailor shop.

“Straight to the point! Flora … or whoever that grey coated tivanian is … is back. But this time, that dude harmed my homeland! To the point my people are affected by it as well!” I’m not very happy to know that from out of nowhere. Sadly, my own impulsiveness scared all of the ladies. I kinda regret letting Jireh see me angry like that.

“You’re kidding. Right? Flora would never do that!” Erin. You still have much to understand.

“I wanted to believe you Erin. But I’m getting impulsive from all of this. So I’m sorry for those who saw me this serious. But that mysterious Tivanian is already calling for us again. Whatever it wants from you Celena … it must be something serious.”

“Another trial awaits us. Right?” Celena asked. “I’m certain.” Hugging her for a bit may be wrong at this time. But I am sure she’s afraid like I do.

As the tailor ladies passed them the clothes, I requested them to craft emergency clothes: clothes (long sleeve T-shirt, gloves, head masks, long pants, and boots) made out of leather mixed with a few extremely cold temperature stones (I forgot what they are called anyway). My kin, the Hivanians, wear these during an intense drought. Only the young ones usually wear these for their skins are not yet fully developed to resist intense heat like myself. But for the other races, without these, they would suffer heat stroke. Leave them exposed for too long … it won’t be pretty.

“Zoxi. What are these clothes for?” Mien Rin asked while rubbing her forehead.

“All of you need to wear those. My homeland is having an unnatural drought. All of you need those clothes to resist the intense heat. Unlike all of you, us Hivanians were gifted to withstand very intense droughts,” I look back at Celena, “By tonight … we will face Feli’s second trial. It will be a sleepless night for us all. Are you certain that you are willing to tackle her next challenge?” we only had silence as we look eye to eye.

“Celena. See this as my way of asking. Celena, I doubted you before that you will never grow up as a person. I still remember the things you said about encouraging Lucas to mate with you. I even thought that you are much more perverted than I am. Normally, I’d be dodging it if I was at his place. He’s probably bolder than I. But after you confessed your actions to me, you have shown me the proof that you are like your mentor, Remiah: learning from your mistakes and facing the opportunities. If you are Feli’s chosen one, please. I need your help to save my homeland. For my people. Help me here, I will do everything I could to bring back your lover to life.”

“Silly Zoxi. Why would I say no to you? You already knew my intentions.” Celena, looks like you managed to keep some of that optimism and spoiled side in a controllable mind. “Right?” she asked everyone else.

“No objections.” Erin thumbs us up.

“I’m just tagging along. No wonder you’re terrible at handling your urges milady.” Verdio. You need to loose up man. This guy NEVER SMILES MUCH. Like Remiah, my best friend.

“Honestly, we hate joining a request like yours. We’d rather help your people than you.” Those nurses never change much.

“Avea. You are never helpful at all…” I frowned upon hearing that.

“Too bad for us though, Cel and her baby forced us.” If there is a guilty pleasure that I have, it would be seeing girls tease one another.

“Johanna! “ all of us just giggled at her.

“We will start tonight. Hopefully, the night wind will cool us down in the process.” It is then I started packing up while seeing Lucas’ wife being clumsy on changing her baby’s diapers and clothes.

Riding the caravan, Zoxi’s kingdom looks like a field with many cracks on the ground. Inside the cracks look like they are glowing red orange: like fire. I couldn’t even feel on how hot it is here. I tried removing one of the mittens. But big sister stopped me from doing so as she nods side wards. I wonder where that person may be now? I can only hope Jireh will not be involved like what happened to Flora … for she warned me with a reason while we were looking for my other friends.

“If either my siblings or myself get killed, your child will suffer reliving the tragedy of the lost soul trapped within him. You need all four of us alive to separate the lost soul from your child’s soul.” Those are the words that Flora told me.
The entire field is so dark. So dark that that there is no moon lighting the way. Only the burning cracks on the ground lighten the field. Sometimes, I can see the other towns burning down by the flames. How would his kind rebuild itself after this?

As we reached the burning Hivanis Keep, I’m starting to sweat a bit.
“Whatever all of you do, DO NOT REMOVE YOUR CLOTHES! Unless you want to die being cooked by the intense evening heat. And one thing, keep your masks on. The air here is too hot for you guys to tolerate.”

“I’m jealous at you. If I’m not wearing these, I would have smacked you.” Looks like my other best friend never changed much. Zoxi ignored it though.

“You love your job. huh?” Verdio asked Avea as she nods at him.

Continuing our ride on his caravan, the mountain road looks so straightforward and gentle despite the rough terrain and the little light that the place has. The closer we get to the peak; so much time has passed as we sweat up much more. All of us are getting tired from all of this. As we reached the top of Igma- whatever this mountain’s name is, what surprised us … is that’s nobody’s here.

“Took you long enough.” To our right was the mysterious shady thing wearing the same grey coat that I’ve met at Herbardam. Clapping its hands, the entire place glow white all around us. But as we open our eyes, all of us are back at our armored looks, crossbow held by my hand, our protective clothing disappeared, and my child disappeared from my arms. “Welcome to the second trial. Time for my vessel to rest for now,” after breathing deeply, the coat vanishes as a being appear in front of us.

“Are you Ignisia?” Zoxi asks. When it nods at us, I am surprised that she is guiding us? That giggle from her left me laughing for a bit. She looks like us, in body figure. But she has a body made out of blue flames burning in the air even if there’s no source that helps it thrive. Her fiery hair looks weird with all of the swirling twirls around it. Even her chest and private parts are not visible at all.

“You are very silly my child. That is not my name. My name is Anagolay. I can’t believe the way your kin changed my identity. That … is one thing I’m always bothered.” Did she say, Zoxi’s kind gave her the wrong name? The rest of us just laughed back.

    “Sorry for that …”

“No need to anyway. Besides, I knew that all of you, my child, wouldn’t say it right. Call me Ignisia instead. Okay?”

“How about Ana? Would that work?” I said to her.

“Sorry little girl. But you’re no Hivanian. I had to say that your kind has given your founding father and mother the most terrible names compared to the rest of us. Shame. On. You.” All five of us (Me, my baby, big sister, and the twins) got tormented by Zoxi’s mother like that. How could she? “Nyah Nyah Nya Nyah Nyah!”

“Serves you right girls. Simple. Straight. Too bland. Ahahaahahahaa….” Erin … you are … such a jerk to us girls! With my anger getting the better of me, I just smacked him in the face with the back of my hand.

“Looks like you should be following me instead Erin. You are so stupid now compared to before.” How could Verdio say that to him? Speaking cynically like that to your best friend.

“At least he’s not a jerkass like you.” I sad back at him

“It’s okay. Don’t defend me. I’m used to it.” Did Erin just accept that?

“But Erin-“ as I tried helping him, he shoved

“You know what, what if I told you are too selfless that you mingle with the issues of others too much?!” seeing him staring and shouting at me angrily, I couldn’t help but fell like he insulted me.

“How could you say that? I thought-.“ this Erin is not the protective and gentle one that I know anymore.

“Maybe I have been too soft during my stay with you. But imagine yourself in your sister’s place for a moment,” to defend myself, I did what he asked as I listened to his speech, “Let us say that, after all of this, you failed to help your little sister’s husband from his death. Both you and your sister were fighting for the heart of your other best friend in the past. Yet you were defeated on that challenge back in the early days. As much as you help your sibling with her goal, she barely takes your gifts and wisdom with consideration. Wouldn’t you be mad at her?”

Before I could even protest, black smoke from out of nowhere blew up at us. It makes me cough out so much since I couldn’t breathe. As the smoke clears up, floating above us is a mysterious Herbarian woman surrounded by a dark purple aura. Claws and wings made out of shadows were formed at its arms and back respectively. When it opens its dark blue eyes, it left all of us scared.

“Instead of yapping with each other, I think I should be the one all of you be yapping now.” The vessel, or so it seems, has Ignisia held hostage.

“Lorie?! Sister! What is going on here?!” that girl is not only what the vessel of Flora, but … how could she be Verdio’s sister?

“Ignisia!” from the way Zoxi shouts back, I never heard him sound so scared from the way her vessel strangling here. I mean, she’s just a spirit of wispy flames. So how could it strangle a fire?

“Hey! What the big idea of this?! I thought you are our vessel Lor-” Ignisia, I’d admit, is still spunky despite her situation now.

“Shut it twerp! You think you are all powerful. Don’t tell me your kind has forgotten us now?” The possessed vessel spoke at her.

“You can’t be … the dark phantom. Of the humans. Right?” did she just said … humans? Why is she afraid of that name?

“You don’t believe me?” I won’t make that mistake again. Firing a shot to this possessed vessel while it isn’t looking at us, I hope that I could set her free. It just caught my shot without even looking. “Nice try. Chosen mother.”

Suddenly, the herbarian vessels swiftly stabbed Ignisia in the middle.
That swift stab emits an agonizing cry of pain both from Zoxi and Ignisia. The scream lasted for a while before Zoxi collapses on the ground; Ignisia’s fire body splits into three separate parts across the land before the vessel dropped on what looks like a dead hivanian baby girl. Its chest has a gaping hole on it that shocked all of us.

Before I could even stand up, I am tackled by, “Verdio? What’s wrong with you?” as he pinned me to the ground, face to face with him, his eyes are piercing red filled with anger. Before he ended my life, I grabbed his approaching right handed blade. I swiftly grabbed his wrist and used all of my strength to take it away from me. The tip is very close for my exposed neck to be wounded. Fear drives me to a panic to save myself.

From his burning eyes, something tells me this is not him at all. The ground shakes furiously as I got a glimpse of something moving. But it is so far from me.

“Was he affected when the Vessel wounded Ignisia.” “Mien Rin! Help me here!” I’m slowly losing strength as the tip of Verdio’s blade (think of it like the Hidden Blade of Assassins Creed) gets closer to ending my life.

“I’m sorry Lucas. Jireh. Stay strong. If I fail … Mama Celena will always be with you.” I can only cry as I ran out to strength to hold back. I have one last look at everything. Mien Rin is still distant from me alongside everyone else. “Feli. I’m ready.” I close my eyes as I brace myself to face my failures and my upcoming death..
