    Honestly, these first 7 episodes are nothing to go home about. They're entertaining, yes, but all the mini storylines for these characters feel rushed and the lack of fights is also lame, considering this is taking place in an MMO. I'm still holding my hopes up that this anime will improve in the next episode since that's supposedly when the main plot begins.

    As I understand it the first 7 episodes were mainly to get the side stories out of the way, and most of the characters introduced. I still should get around to reading the light novels to judge for myself though.

    Exactly. Also, you definitely need to read the light novel.

    It starts off with volume 1 which is basically the SAO arc, none of these side characters are there, but they're mentioned by Kirito (e.g. Sachi, as the reason he doesn't want to join a guild, as he explains to Asuna, is because he feels responsible about her death). Actually, all these side stories come out in volume 2 (I guess that writer needed a break until he published volume 3) but chronologically happen during volume 1 explaining some of Kirito's character development much better. And needless to say, they are not rushed.

    Volume 2 CAN be skipped, but I definitely think it should be read, because:

    1. Side stories are so much better than the anime version.
    2. Some of these side characters will reappear later on.

    EDIT: I just watched episode 8, pretty enjoyable as always.

    I can't wait for the boss battle.

    Dont judge the anime just yet. I'm praising it from the perspective of a Novel reader and I can attest to how amazing it is since I read up to volume 10(latest volume as of now). I have gotten other people who don't even like to touch anime to read through volumes of it. In Japan, in the month of August, every SAO volume(1-10) were in the top 20 sellers. The anime WAS just beating around the bush with side stories but as of this episode 8, I can say it officially moved into the main plot line. Tbh, I don't even like the Anime that much as it is only good for a visualization of the setting and the battles, other than that I just like to follow the plot and pace of the novels.

    Future Arc details have not been released for anime,

    P.S. mangas are pretty bad compared to the Light Novels.

    P.S.S. my favorite arc is the GGO arc

    Well, this was an epic battle and the animation was sweet. Seeing Klein was great as well as seeing Kirito and Asuna's bond get stronger. I don't really have any complaints about this one, I'm just glad we FINALLY got to meet Heathcliff!

    Next week: Kirito VS Heathclif - who will prevail?

    I was saying it because of those who didn't read the novel. xD

    I'm not willing to spoil everyone.

    I'm guessing Kirito loses. Just a guess.

    This week's episode was alright I guess. If I were there, I'd be saying "You are not obligated to save everyone in SAO, you know? I get that you want to save people but you didn't have to go berserk or anything."

    I finished episode 10, I'm glad things are taking off. TBH, I don't care heavily for the romance, that's just my general taste. Also, I'm glad the show finally moved away from "typical harem crap" after the Liz episode. I was getting very tired of a girl falling for Kirito every episode.

    I really enjoyed the first act, but now I'm pretty sure I'm going to drop it.

    I watched Episode 15 and did not care for it. At all.

    This seems to be one of those series that would've been best if it died young. Episode 14's ending was just perfect. I don't think the true ending would be able to top that.

    So, Ep 17 is out...

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~SPOOOOIIILLLLEEEERRRSSS~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~
    Anyone else surprised Kirito's sister is playing Alfhiem Online? I mean, she doesn't pass as the gamer type to me.
    Also, was anyone mouth gaping surprised when it revealed that even though BOTH KIRITO AND ASUNA DIED AGAINST HEATHCLIFF they are both still alive (well, Asuna is in Alfheim Online).
    Oh, and who wants to punch the guy who said Asuna was his and Fairy King Oberon.
    I'm back I guess.
    I love this anime so much its my new favorite . i never wouldve guessed that kirito's sister would play a game espicially after seeing what SAO did to kirito ><. i dont like Oberon at all.. i cant wait for kirito to find him and kill him if it does happen ><
    *joins this thread*
    I'm currently addicted to the theme songs... This is the best anime IMO xD
    I still like SAO more than Alfheim Online... Kirito's new looks are kinda disturbing... with those ears. Oberon is such a ***** that makes me want to slap his across his face >:( Kirito, save Asunaaa!
    First BD volume closing in on 40k sales, which are ridiculously good sales, second season is pretty much guaranteed at this point, it's just a matter of when.
    So does that mean there will be a second anime of SAO?
    Life just seems to get better from this point.
    You can pretty much count on a second season if the rest of the volumes average out to 40k-50k, which is looking very likely.
