This one's a tough one. Outside of Totodile, you could probably make cases for all of them.

Just I said on your thread, starters are strongest at very end, except if they don't raise they're starter.

It's pretty clear Quilava as Cyndaquil was the strongest.

How can people say Quilava is the strongest?? It was used in 1 battle and it didn't even win, it tied IIRC.
Heracross without a doubt, it showed to be very strong, it did pretty good against Darkrai, a robot Pinsir, one of Gary's Pokemon and a Scizor and that's pretty damn awesome

What are YOU talking about? It was one of Ash's only Johto pokemon that was used often. -_-

Quilava. Heracross usually just sucks on Bulbasaur's back.

So if Quilava is the best because it was often used as a CYNDAQUIL, does it mean Torterra is super strong because it was great as a Turtwig? Or does it mean Swellow sucks because Taillow never won a battle? Uhm...

Herecross was beast after his capture until Ash got him Oak'd and the runner-up would be Quilava as a Cyndaquil since he was really good in his battles.

Torterra being weak is an assumption, and Swellow isn't all that great.

^ u must have been sleeping during hoen...
It won against 1 or 2 pokemon in EVERY battle it was in, enduring thundershocks, thunders and hyperbeams.
It was the 2nd snorlax untill it got used as a scapegoat against latios

Um, yes, obviously. Pokemon don't get reset upon evolution, they retain their power and grow stronger. I honestly do not see how you can think otherwise. :U Swellow obviously doesn't suck because Pokemon are made stronger upon evolution. I... legitimately don't understand this reasoning.

And Torterra isn't weak, either. Just because the writers screwed it over and didn't give it any wins didn't mean that it was weak. I mean, look at its battles. It lost against an Elite Four's Pokemon and a Pokemon it had a disadvantage against (Drapion). It's only embarrassing loss was against Electivire.

Anyway, Quilava. It had a tonne of wins and was shown to be a powerful little bugger. Bayleef would probably be a close second. Heracross seemed to be portrayed as strong but it only has like, three wins, so nope.

Obviously Torterra was pushed aside because of Infernape and this is unfortunate but I don't think we could call Torterra weak and we certainly can't forget about his wins as a Turtwig and Grotle. Yes, he is not a Turtwig or Grotle anymore but those wins should still be counted because Torterra is still the same Pokemon except now he evolved so we should still count his wins before he evolved. I think someone brought up Torterra was used in 3 battles after it evolved. Bertha, Paul and Volkner. I don't see any reason the writers couldn't have Torterra get a win against Paul. He is a starter Pokemon who the writers are usually kind to for the most part and they could have very easily gave Infernape one less win or make another Pokemon a scapegoat besides Torterra. Maybe Buizel or Pikachu especially since Pikachu would later tie with a Latios. They also could have made Pikachu the scapegoat against Volkner but they didn't do that either. And then Torterra lost against Bertha who is a really strong trainer and Ash was going to lose against Bertha no matter which Pokemon he used in that battle. But Paul, Bertha, and Volkner are all very strong trainers so we shouldn't call Torterra weak because he was used against 3 very strong trainers. One that he was never going to beat (Bertha), one that they needed Infernape to show its dominance before the League (Volkner) and another trainer with a very powerful Drapion (Paul).

I chose, "Heracross" because of its recent wins in the Sinnoh League, but it was hard to chose since all his Johto pokemon have proven to be strong, like Bayleef when she was used in battle against Gary, Donphan during the Battle Frontier saga and so on...
