Hey everyone, so as well as my pokemon fic I thought i would share this short story I just wrote. its mostly all creative language and the ending may leave a few people (actually I don't wanna give it away). But yeaaa, i hope you like it! And if your unsure just comment and ask
It was a frosty night; i was dead to the world in a gutter, hopeless. Wondering why i deserved such punishment. The alleyway i was sleeping in was hidden in the shadows, concealed away from the social world. But then an act of fate happened, it came to me, a poster, a greasy screwed up poster came gently sloping with the breezy wind and sat tenderly down besides me. I unwrapped it and saw that the king is searching for the fourth person to take part in the annual deity chase. I looked at it as a sign. I stayed up in those hours of darkness, i couldn’t go to sleep. I had to consider the possibilities of what is going to occur at the chase.
As soon as the sweltering fireball came up i dashed to the castle. The colossal marble gates where the only thing that stood in the way of me and the king. I informed the guards that i required to take part in the chase; they pulled a comical face and let me inside, they showed me to the king. He hustled out the titanic wooden front door and rushed to make eye contact. He was wearing an elongated lavender cloak and had a coffee chocolate beard and sleek russet hair. He elevated one eyebrow up and told the guards “room 4!” i promptly assumed that i had been an accepted applicant for the chase.
I stayed there that night. I remember the room was humid and snug nothing that I had ever witnessed before. It was such luxury. I woke up thinking that this may be my last day alive, knowing that people die in these tournaments. A knock soon informed me to be downstairs in 5 minutes. I opened the glamorous wooden door and there was a guard waiting tolerantly to escort me to the king. I trailed him down the Egyptian golden hallway. We came to an additional mammoth door, and then followed through to the vibrant garden. The king was there along with the other three contestants, one girl and two boys. We were informed to speak our names aloud, incredibly clearly. The opening was “Ike”, the giant smug man, then “Jas” the appealing fair-haired girl, next it went “Naids” the brawny man who looked irritated and then finally it came to me, “Miles”, the beggar. The king informed us that in the darkest hours of the night he drugged us and substituted our hearts with a bomb. The only way to save ourselves was to locate the unexplained heart in the next hour, but the catch was that there was only one. Jas, the flaxen haired girl started going mental, i could see how worried she was through her intense eyes. The stench of survival was in the atmosphere. The king then told us that the timer to the bomb was just set in motion and we must go to the beach. I sprinted with all my might, i didn’t for one second think about the others. I knew I didn’t have time.
I soon discovered the beach, the sun was at the tip of the cerulean sky, i experienced the heat bouncing of my bumpy skin. I could hear the roar of the sapphire waves crashing down on the silky pallid sand. I stood motionless monitoring the environment. I saw three mature shabby wooden boats, and in the distance four islands, all of them side by side. I soared in a boat, grasped the ores and rapidly rowed over the booming waves to the island. On my journey my eyes caught Ike just in front of me reaching the parallel island. My arms soon started hurting as i was in a ferocious battle against the courageous ocean. And then i ultimately came to the deserted island, only about 10feet long with three striking palm trees. It was completely uninhabited, excluding a stiff metal chest that was directly in the heart of the island. I went closer to it but then i saw something on the crown of the chest, it was an authentic heart. It was exposed in scarlet blood and beneath it was a note. It read “your heart is the key”. Without any contemplation i shredded the heart with naked hands. It was extraordinarily problematic, what with the heart being so hard to cut and squishy. But then i stabbed my nails in the centre and tore it, out flowed a river of blood along with a rusty key. I picked up the key and wedged it in the keyhole. I unfastened the chest sluggishly as i was unaware of what it contained.
The chest was vacant. All i could distinguish was a sinister passageway that went through the foundation of the corroded chest. It was, as i remember it a surreptitious entrance to a forbidden cave. I cautiously clambered down, the rocky walls where filthy and the dirty earth was attaching itself onto my sweaty hands, it was similar to extremely tough glue. As i advanced further down into the obscurity i could begin to smell the odour of decease. My anxious unstable feet finally arrived at the rigid ground of the cave. I elevated my nervous head high and heard in revelation the rainfall singing its chorus as the drops chime on the ground. Yes, it was indeed raining in the cave, of course i thought, the cave must be constructed underneath the ocean. I twisted my skull around to examine the murky cave, i glanced downwards and saw an elegant petite stream running through, i then realised that i ought to pursue it. I began to travel and it soon seemed i was on an eternal voyage. “Help!” i curved my body approximately 180 degrees right and saw Jas, she looked so horrified. I could hear her hurt and fears. She was crying out at me “ITS COMING!”I went to cuddle her and grant her hope, but before i could, this monstrous creature took her down; it was as rapid as a bolt of lightning. I was petrified. All i could witness through the drizzle of the rainwater was devilish crimson eyes gawping at me and daunting ashy daggers covered in murdered blood. I unhurriedly took a footstep in reverse. I was still in disbelief at what i was seeing; the hound had a soggy leather nose that gusted out blistering steam. I knew what it was thinking. . . Dinner! So without anymore deliberation of what to perform, i ran. I ran like an aggressive cheetah hastening to grasp its innocent prey, i didn’t for one second look back, my eyes where unlocked and extensive as they could be because they where eagerly waiting to discover a way out of this misery tunnel. My sore feet where spattering in the stream, and the rain seemed to get extra brutal. I was just about to give up but then i saw luminosity, at first i thought i was lifeless and it was the heavens, but as i got closer i detected an elderly jagged ladder. I could hear the dog gaining on me. The ladder seemed to get nearer but then again so did the dogs snarl. I knew the echo was the devil. I swiftly put in cooperation both hands and feet onto the ladder and started climbing. I put one hand on the rung along with my foot, then i put my other hand on the next rung but i couldn’t move my foot, in panic i didn’t realise that the hound had locked my trousers in its razor-sharp teeth. I began to shriek; at this point i was frustratingly trying to jolt its head with my other foot. I was holding onto my life with just my hands, with lots of determination i viciously kicked it in its gruesome face, very hastily it released my tattered clothing and i speedily scurried up the ladder.
It began to get more vivid and brighter as the upwards tunnel was coming to a close. I came across an aged tarnished clock on the way up and the time was 12:42. My deep black pupils grew immensely. My head looked up and i perceived the end of the channel, i clutched the summit of the wall and ascended out. I became conscious of my surroundings instantly, as it was the most gorgeous, most stunning place i had ever been. It was a bizarre forest. The entire flora was made out of crystals so was the towering trees and also the gracious grass. It was just like being in one of my extraordinary dreams. Everything was crystal clear and somehow transparent. Everything but the wishing well that i previously climbed out, i then noticed that on the well was words engraved.” Search for yourself”. I slowly reflected about what it could possibly imply but before i had an opportunity to, the corner of my eye saw Ike and Naids skirmishing. I didn’t have time to break it up as i knew that two of us will be dead in less than 15 short careless minutes. I started to panic and ran through the strange forest. I soon stumbled across an enchanting tree; this tree was not made out of crystals but actually moulded out of mirrors. I gazed in wonder. I could see my reflection in all of it, the broad branches, the stylish leaves and the plump trunk. I stared at my terrified reflection for reasonably some time, a bitter tear trickled down my supple cheek and in rage i shattered the tree with my fist. In astonishment i saw the heart. It was attached to about 10 jade vines that went through the hollow tree, i rapidly went to grasp it but then unexpectedly the thunderous horn went off, telling me that i only have 1 minute left.
“Thank you for finding it for me” a voice unfortunately informed me. I could effortlessly see through some of the fractured mirror that it was Naids; his head was now randomly dotted in warrior blood. Without even thinking i stole a bumpy jagged section of the mirror from the splintered tree, turned around and pierced him in his fragile neck. Blood jetted out his unconscious neck like a water fountain that was from the scorching firestorms of hell. I took one deep mouthful of air and knew what i had to achieve. Shuddering nervously i slit the piece of mirror into my chest and swiftly but cautiously cut roughly around my heart. Screaming in agony i fell to the sparkling ground. Knowing that i only had 30 seconds to live i used all my willpower and i ripped the shape out of my terrified body. I held it up so i could observe it, it was the figure of a heart, a heart that looked like it was drawn by a 5 year old school child. And then i looked down at my open disfigured body and in astonishment and amazement i saw it. There it was, the most beautiful, the most magical, the most remarkable container of emotion that god ever created. I was tremendously puzzled but joyous at the same time. At that moment i started to black out, but i still remember the aroma of fresh air and how the condensation of the crystals washed my hands.
The next day i woke up in a hospital with various stitching on my torso. The king came to me and enlightened me that it was a test of survival, that no one was meant to die and that the race was about giving individuals an opportunity to prove themselves worthy by offering there most cherished love. He then whispered the words “you won”.
