Oooo... The spirits... Now I did not see that coming! I can't wait to see how this turns out! The boy (who I'm assuming is Grey) sounds like my kind of kid; dark, mysterious, and overall cool. Plus, adding a Riolu just makes this so much cooler.
I had intended to write and add tonight, but I fell asleep for a couple hours. Naps are always good. I should have the next chapter tomorrow then.
Chapter Eight: The Venomous Virbank Gym!
“Since you have a starter Pokemon, I assume you have challenged the gym in Aspertia City. Am I right?”
“Yes, Mr. Alder! Me and a… close friend… had a tag battle with Lenora and Cheren. We won and both got Basic Badges!”
“That’s quite impressive for a young trainer like yourself, Brittany. With that kind of skill and now that you have three Pokemon, I think I know the perfect place for you. Follow me.”
Alder, the ex-champion of the Unova region, escorted Brittany off of the Floccesy Ranch and into Floccesy Town. The town had school kids going to school. It was rather early in the morning now. After complimenting Brittany the night before, Alder made a campfire and the two camped at Floccesy Ranch for the night.
“Brittany, I introduce to you my hometown of Floccesy. Floccesy Town is full of young kids from all over Unova. They come to the school I run out of my house. My grandson stopped attending the school not that long ago, actually. Anyways, sorry for getting off-track; I’ll show you the way to the next city with a gym.”
Alder led Brittany through the small town. When they came upon the next route, there was a strange glow in the nearby forest. Brittany saw the faint outline of a blue Pokemon. She quickly but precisely grabbed her Pokedex to see if the silhouette was clear enough to get a good reading on it.
Keldeo, the Colt Pokemon. When it is resolute, its body fills with power and it becomes swifter. Its jumps are then too fast to follow.
The blue silhouette jumped out of the forest and into the morning sun.
“Did you say something, Brittany?”
“Um, no, sir. Let’s keep going.”
After a brief walk, Alder said, “There you go, Brittany. The entrance to Virbank City is right through that tunnel. Have fun, be safe, and good luck at your gym match!”
“Thank you so much!” She gave a warm smile and ran off. She turned around and waved as a way of appreciation.
Route 20 was a vast route. Grass covered most of it. Many trainers were gathered around at various points, looking for challengers. Brittany faced them all as training for her battle.
“Azurill, knock out Patrat with Bubble!”
“No, Riolu! Finish that pesky Sunkern off with Force Palm! I’m not letting you lose!”
“Gah… Leaf Tornado that Psyduck, Snivy!”
The battles ended with Brittany being the victor of them all. Upon entering Virbank City, she went straight to the Virbank City Gym. It was raining heavily in town, so she was trying to find her way sooner rather than later.
Virbank City was pretty big. It was bigger than most cities Brittany had been to. She liked to think Virbank was sort of like Lilycove or Slateport back home in Hoenn. Although she wouldn’t admit it, she missed her father and all of Hoenn.
Brittany wanted to see many places in Virbank City, such as Pokestar Studios, but she knew the gym came first. Her ultimate goal was to catch up with Purple and help in the Unova crisis. Purple had called her on her Xtransciever back at the Floccesy Ranch.
“Hey, Brittany! I’m sorry I had to leave so abruptly. I was, and still am, dealing with something. I have to become stronger and stop the crisis that’s happening in Unova.”
“Purple, you have to let me help you! I’m currently with the former champion of Unova!”
“Alder!? You’re with Alder!?”
“Yeah, that’s right. Why?”
“He’s world famous! If Alder recognizes your skill, maybe you are a great trainer! I mean, I already knew you were, but I might just let you help.”
“I’ll help no matter what you say, Purple! I’m getting stronger!”
“If you really want to help, get eight gym badges and meet me in Opelucid City.”
When Brittany thought of their conversation, she smiled. Purple was starting to have faith in her. She liked him, so it made her smile like a little schoolgirl.
She needed to beat the gym leader of Virbank and then head to the next town.
I can do this, she thought.
“Hello, and welcome to the Virbank City Gym! What’s your name?”
Without even realizing, she had walked into the gym! The gym is a… concert?
“Umm… my name is Brittany. I’m here to challenge the gym leader!”
“Hi, Brittany! I’m the Virbank Gym Leader. I’m Roxie. Prepare for me to sink my poisonous teeth in you.”
The girl who approached her was as white as a ghost and had off-white hair. She carried around a guitar in the shape of a Scolipede’s horns. Her clothes were striped with purple and blue. She wore a determined look on her face, as if she was literally venomous.
“My first Pokemon will be my steamroller of venom. Come on out, Whirlipede!”
“What’s that Pokemon? I’ve never seen anything like it!”
Whirlipede, the Curlipede Pokemon and the evolved form of Venipede. Protected by a hard shell, it spins its body like a wheel and crashes furiously into its enemies.
“Whirlipede… Go, Azurill!”
“You’re using a baby Pokemon like Azurill?” Roxie sounded like a punk. “It’s so cute!” Roxie’s attitude changed in two seconds. “Nevertheless, I won’t be holding back. Whirlipede, use Venoshock!”
The Curlipede Pokemon started spinning. In its spinning state, multiple blasts of green slime were shot at Azurill. Azurill tried to dodge the best it could, but every blob hit.
Azurill fell back onto the battlefield with swirly eyes.
“Azurill! Roxie, you took out my Azurill with one hit! How is that even possible!?”
“With enough training, you can become as punk as me! It is possible, you know.” Roxie winked after saying this and played her guitar. Her band members behind her started playing also.
“It’s like they’re already playing a victory song. I still have two Pokemon, though,” Brittany whispered to herself. “Next up for me is Riolu!”
Riolu came out and stood with confidence.
Whirlipede turned itself into a ball and glowed a faint gray. Roxie’s Pokemon slammed itself into Riolu before it could attack.
“Riolu, use Quick Attack. This is just a minor problem! Stay focused!”
Brittany’s words didn’t even reach Riolu. Riolu was getting too angry at Whirlipede for it to listen. Whirlipede was repetitively slamming into Riolu.
Riolu has taken a lot more damage than it was letting on.
Riolu slammed Whirlipede back with Quick Attack, but the damage was minimal.
“Here it comes!”
Brittany couldn’t even watch. It was over. Whirlipede hit Riolu with Venoshock.
“Riolu, you have to stop getting angry. Return. My third Pokemon is my faithful partner. Please battle hard, Snivy!”
“Whirlipede, use Steamroller! Whirlipede’s signature is Steamroller. Just wait until we vamp it up with poison!”
Whirlipede used Venoshock, but before it could hit Snivy, Whirlipede used Steamroller and ran into the attack. The Steamroller was now covered in poison!
“You know that Snivy is weak to Poison and Bug-types. That’s why you’re combing them isn’t it?”
Whirlipede hit Snivy, and Snivy fell back.
Brittany broke down into tears. “You were great, Snivy.”
Brittany left the gym in a haste of tears and anger. Alder had told her of a great place to train called the Virbank Industrial Complex. That’s exactly where she went. Roxie was running after her.
“Lady, you can’t go in there!”
Brittany completely disregarded the warning and went into the complex. Roxie followed soon after.
Two groups of Pokemon were fighting. It’s Electric-types versus Fire-types! Brittany ran right into the battle.
Leading the Fire-types was a Magmortar, and an Electivire was running the Electric-types. Co-leading the teams were Arcanine and Magnezone, respectively. The Fire-type’s underlings were Growlithe, Magmar, and Magby. Magnemite, Magneton, Elekid, and Electabuzz were the underlings for the Electric-types.
“Ahhh! Help,” Brittany yelled.

Chapter nine has been written, but I'm super tired. Therefore, I will post it tomorrow after school. Don't be too mad at me. :3
Chapter Nine: Fire and Electric! The Toughest of Combinations!
BOOM! An explosion lit up the entire Industrial Complex in an orange-yellow light.
“They’re never going to stop fighting, Roxie! I’m really sorry for running into the middle of this fight. I wasn’t paying attention and-“
Before Brittany could finish, another explosion blew up even more of the Industrial Complex.
“It’s not your fault. The Pokemon here have always fought, but it’s never been this bad. I don’t know what’s causing it. Whatever it is, I’m going to stop it. Go, my venomous warriors!” Roxie threw three Poke Balls into the air. Out came Whirlipede, Golbat, and Seviper.
“You have such cool Pokemon, Roxie. This is my fault, so I must help to the best of my ability. Azurill, Riolu, and Snivy, come out and help us!”
Roxie nodded. A grin started to caress from her face.
“Brittany, I’ll handle the Fire-types. You handle the Electric-types. Go!”
Roxie hustled across the yard. As she ran, she yelled, “Seviper, Poison Tail on Magmortar! Golbat and Whirlipede, you two use your Venoshock attacks on the others!”
Seviper hurled itself into the air. Its tail glowed purple, and it slammed it onto Magmortar’s head. Magmortar fell over, but it didn’t stay down long.
Brittany was panting from the running all over and the battling. She barely managed to say, “Huff… My Pokemon.. Huff.. are fighting for… Huff… me! I can do better!” She stood up straight and got her head back in the game.
Brittany thought back to when she and Purple had battled Lenora and Cheren. She and Purple had almost been beaten because of their unsynchronized work, but they persevered.
“Okay! I got it! Combine your attacks at the foes! Use Leaf Tornado, Focus Blast, and Bubble, you three!”
Azurill, Riolu, and Snivy launched their attacks at the same time. The three combined powers made on huge attack. It was headed straight towards the leader, Electivire!
The attack was in the shape of a circle, with leaves from Leaf Tornado churning and controlling it. The Focus Blast from Riolu had broken up and made the spinning motion itself stronger. Azurill’s Bubble was inside the circle, getting stronger and stronger by the second.
When the attack hit Electivire, it fell over in pain and fainted. The wild Pokemon that were following Electivire’s orders stopped and left.
On the other side of the battle, Roxie was struggling.
Whirlipede and Golbat hit the ground, unconscious. Seviper wasn’t far behind.
“Magmortar is just too strong for me, Brittany. I need help,” Roxie plead.
Brittany couldn’t even react. “A… gym leader… of all people needs my help?”
The Blast Pokemon aimed its canon-like arm at Brittany’s Pokemon. It took aim, and launched the most powerful Flamethrower attack it could possibly muster.
The Flamethrower hit all three of Brittany’s Pokemon, but a strange glow appeared right before it did. When the blast was over, Brittany’s Pokemon were alright! But standing in their places were…
“Servine, Lucario, and Marill!?”
Servine, the Grass Snake Pokemon and the evolved from of Snivy. It moves along the ground as if sliding. Its swift movements befuddle its foes, and it then attacks with a vine whip.
Lucario, the Aura Pokemon and the evolved form of Riolu. A well-trained one can sense auras to identify and take in the feelings of creatures over half a mile away.
Marill, the Aqua Mouse Pokemon and the evolved form of Azurill. The oil-filled end of its tail floats on water. It keeps Marill from drowning even in a strong current.
“Wow, Brittany! All three of your Pokemon evolved just in time to save all of us!”
“According to the Pokedex, they even have new moves! Let’s try them out, guys! Marill, you can try your new Aqua Tail. Lucario, for you, it’s Aura Sphere. Servine, your new attack is Twister! Launch them at Magmortar!”
Lucario positioned his hands in front him and gathered all of his possible aura. He concentrated it into a sphere and launched it.
Marill jumped up into the air. Her tail turned a cerulean blue, and she slammed it into Magmortar.
Servine turned around and spun his tail over and over. A Twister attack and formed and sent Magmortar blasting off into the night sky.
“That was well done, Brittany. For saving me and demonstrating amazing battle skills, I would like you to have the Toxic Badge.” Roxie held her hand out. In it was the coveted gym badge of Virbank City.
“That’s a kind offer, Roxie, but I can’t accept it. I want a rematch!”
“If it’s a rematch you want, it’s a rematch you’ll get.”
The next day at the Virbank Gym…
“Now that my Pokemon have been healed from yesterday, I’m ready to rock and roll! How about just a one-on-one this time?”
“That sounds great, Roxie! Lucario, I need you this time!”
“You’re using a Pokemon that’s immune to Poison-type moves. That’s smart. However, my Seviper will still shred you to pieces.”
The announcer said on the PA, “The one-on-one match between gym leader Roxie and Brittany, the challenger, will now begin! Seviper versus Lucario. Go!”
“Lucario, go straight for the win with Zen Headbutt!”
Lucario’s head glowed pink, and it raced across the stage towards Seviper.
“Seviper, stop it with Flamethrower. Give it enough power to blow it back!”
Seviper opened its poisonous mouth and let out a Flamethrower that looked, to Brittany, just as powerful as Magmortar’s. Brittany knew that that’s what Roxie meant by shredding me to pieces.
“Cut through the Flamethrower with your Zen Headbutt! You’re powerful enough, I know it!”
The Flamethrower hit Lucario head on. Lucario withstood it for a minute, but it blew Lucario back to the other side of the field. Lucario was blown into the air and hit the dirt hard. The impact left quite a scratch in Lucario’s health.
“Flamethrower again, Seviper.”
The second round of Flamethrower was coming at Lucario. The Aura Pokemon jumped high into the air and used Aura Sphere to break up the Flamethrower.
“Now come down with Ice Punch, Lucario!”
Lucario clenched his hand into a fist, and ice particles covered it. Lucario was coming at Seviper faster than Roxie had ever imagined.
“Poison Tail.” Roxie said it with such simplicity.
“What is she doing!? She knows that Poison Tail won’t do damage to Lucario!”
Seviper’s tail clashed with Lucario’s fist. The attacks were even. Neither Pokemon was going to give into the other.
Lucario jumped back to his own side. Seviper landed back on Roxie’s side.
“It’s all very simple. I wasn’t using the attack to do damage. I was using it to stop your attack, Brittany.” She laughed as if she had real venom in her blood.
Lucario’s feet moved across the field so quickly that nobody in the crowds even saw Lucario moving! Lucario’s fist was illuminated with pulsing electricity.
Seviper, however, did. Seviper was one step ahead and caught Lucario’s fist in its mouth! Seviper tossed Lucario around and threw him into the air.
“Catch yourself in the air! Use Aura Sphere when you do!”
Lucario fumbled for a few seconds but caught himself just in time. Seviper was hurdling itself at him. Lucario gathered up another Aura Sphere and flung it at Seviper.
Seviper opened its mouth again and this time, instead of biting Lucario’s hand, it let out the beam of dark, black-purple rings at the Aura Sphere. Dark Pulse sliced through Aura Sphere and hit Lucario in the chest. Lucario hit the ground and could barely get up. When Seviper landed, it was also winded.
“I know exactly what I’ve got to do. Lucario, go in with Zen Headbutt again.”
Lucario’s head glowed pink for the second time in the battle. He pitched himself at Seviper, and Seviper planned on using the same old trick.
“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me,” Brittany very clearly stated.

Chapter Ten: Liberation on Liberty Island!
“Seviper is unable to battle. The winner is Brittany, the challenger,” the announcer declared as he raised the flag that proved Brittany’s victory.
Roxie’s band stood up with a look of confusion on their face. Roxie had the same look. In fact, the thousands of people in the crowd had the same look also.
“What happened, Brittany?”
“I knew what you would do. It wasn’t that hard to predict. I had Lucario secretly fuse an Aura Sphere into your Flamethrower. That’s where the smoke came from. While the room was all filled with smoke, I had Lucario finish the battle with Ice Punch.” Brittany smiled. She was so pleased with Lucario and herself.
“That’s incredible!” Here comes her venomous smile again.
A little freaked out, Brittany said, “Thanks, Roxie!”
Brittany picked up the Toxic Badge and added it to her Badge Case. It rested right next to the Basic Badge, the badge that she and Purple won together. The badge that Brittany cherishes so much.
As congratulations for winning, Roxie jumped onstage and her and her band played Brittany a song. According to the locals, it was the infamous Virbank Gym Fight Song. Brittany enjoyed it a lot. After it ended, Roxie and Brittany said their “goodbyes,” and Brittany left the gym.
Brittany was walking down the street and whistling when she noticed a couple of shady looking people. All of a sudden, Roxie agilely ran right past her and started doing battle against the thugs.
“Where are we?”
“Brittany, what are you doing here? This is no place for you! Leave this to me, the gym leader!”
“I’m here to help.”
Brittany’s Marill and Roxie’s Golbat were battling all of the thugs' Pokemon. They were attacking with Lillipup and Purrloin. There were multiple Purrloin and Lillipup, though.
Marill was using its newly-upgraded Bubblebeam to knock them off of their feet while Golbat came through and used Air Cutter to knock them out.
Roxie grabbed some rope and tied the goons up. She started to interrogate them, but they weren’t budging.
“Why are you here? You all have been messing around the Virbank Shipyard for a while now. What do you want here,” Roxie interrogated.
“We-we don’t want anything! We just thought you might know where it is,” one grunt feebly said.
“Where what is!?”
“Team Underworld, the organization that hired us, wants to know where Liberty Island is.”
Roxie questioned, “Why do you want to know where Liberty Island is?”
“We don’t know why they want to know!”
“Yeah, right. I’ll believe that in a million years… maybe.”
“We’ve told you everything, now let us go!”
As she had nothing to hold them for, Roxie let them go. The Team Underworld Grunts ran off into the bulk of the city. One grunt pulled out a cellular phone and dialed a number.
“Hello? How was the operation?”
“It went great, Commander. Liberty Island is just off of Castelia City. It’s just out of eye-sight from the city’s point of view. It shouldn’t be hard to find.”
“Perfect. I’ll see you soon.”
Back at the Virbank Skipyard…
“I owe you some explaining, don’t I? Well, those buffoons had been lurking around her for a while. Thanks to the combined powers of your Marill and my Golbat, we’ve finally stopped them. However, I noticed that my research on Liberty Island is gone. I have to maintain the gym, so will you do me a favor?”
“So, this is Castelia City. It’s so big,” Purple exclaimed as he walked out of the entrance that connects Castelia City to Skyarrow Bridge.
The orange building was the Pokemon Centre. It was right in the front of the city. The GameFreak building was close to it. Purple kept walking past the skyscrapers when he saw someone familiar.
“Brittany! What are you doing here? The last time I saw you was in Aspertia City!” Purple ran up to Brittany and embraced her. Brittany felt like she was on cloud nine.
Brittany and Purple went to the Pokemon Center to catch up. They sat in black chairs with red plaid seat covers to make them more comfortable. Nurse Joy greeted them when they came in and also told them when their Pokemon had been fully healed.
Brittany started the catching up. She told him all about catching Riolu and Azurill, about how she met Alder at Floccesy Ranch, and also about the mysterious Keldeo that she only saw the silhouette of. She told him about reaching Virbank City and losing to Roxie, about the incident at the Virbank Industrial Complex, and about her Pokemon evolving at the same time to save her and Roxie. She then told Purple all about the rematch at the Virbank Gym and how she and Roxie stopped the people at the Virbank Shipyard.
“After that, Roxie asked me to do her a favor. I was told to come to Castelia City to watch for those Team Underworld Grunts. She also told me to be careful as they might try to pull something on me since I heard their plans.”
She continued on explaining. Roxie gave her a ride to Castelia via boat. Roxie was generous in that way.
Purple then caught her up. He told her all about how he had witnessed Virizion and Cobalion in Pinwheel Forest. He told her about the mysterious guy and what he had to say about it. He then shared his experience with Shelmet and Karrablast and crossing Skyarrow Bridge.
“Skyarrow Bridge is so beautiful, Brittany. You really need to see it one day.”
The two got their Pokemon back from Nurse Joy and left the accommodations of the Pokemon Center behind as they left. When they walked outside, a mysterious man snatched Brittany from right in front of Purple’s eyes. Purple saw him put her on a boat. The boat was white and had a solid blue stripe across both sides. The grunt boarded the boat also and sped off.
Brittany’s cry for Purple’s help was getting distant to the point where Purple couldn’t hear it anymore.
Purple threw a Poke Ball into the air and jumped while the Pokemon was being released. It was Ducklett. Purple was holding on to Ducklett’s talons. Purple gave Ducklett the command of flying after the boat that had just left.
Ducklett made haste.
On any normal day, Purple would have loved looking at the wild Basculin, Frillish, and Staryu that were in the ocean, but today was different. He was fighting for Brittany today, the same Brittany that he shared so many memories with, the same Brittany that he liked.
Purple was half way to between the boat and Castelia City. He just needed to get to Brittany, but Ducklett was feeling weak from carrying Purple. Purple could tell because of Ducklett’s panting.
Before Purple knew it, he was racing towards the cerulean surface of the ocean.
Ducklett, who had dropped Purple due to exhaustion, was no longer in sight.
Purple was screaming because he was falling, but it soon stopped.
“Huh? I’ve been caught.”
A Swanna was carrying Purple towards Liberty Island, the place where the boat had docked. Neither Brittany nor the grunt was in sight.
"You must be the evolved form of Ducklett. Hi, Swanna!"
Purple patted Swanna’s fur, and Swanna, with new strength and speed, jetted to Liberty Island.
When Purple reached Liberty Island, there were grunts everywhere. Purple didn’t know what to do other than battle. So, that’s what he did.
The island was rather small, contrary to Purple’s initial thought. There was one building on the island. The island was only big enough to support the building. Purple went straight in.
“Oshawott, come on out and battle!”
Oshawott came out. Purple had returned Swanna. He knew Oshawott needed some training, so this would be the best time, he thought.
While Purple battled numerous grunts, a strange woman with red hair was holding Brittany hostage in the basement. The basement started to glow. A small portal appeared, and the legendary Pokemon Victini came through.
Veronica walked in and said, “I knew it! The Pokemon that live in the Secret Dimension are still tied to the places that they are from. Victini used to live here, so it is tied to this island.” She laughed evilly.
Veronica wasn’t expecting what was about to happen, though.

I totally thought that you would include Team Plasma, not a new Team! Now I'm wondering about Veronica's connection to the this Team Underworld and what her actual plans are.
Another thing that went against my expectations was when Ducklett dropped Purple. I was expecting him and Oshawatt to be stuck swimming and fighting Basculin, but Duckett evolving into Swanna and saving him? Blew me away. Keep it up!
Sorry for no post over the weekend. A friend of mine passed away, and I was out of town all weekend with no way to write. I should be back on schedule soon!
Note: Sorry it took a little while. Here's Chapter Eleven!
Chapter Eleven: Cascading the Castelia Gym!
“What is all of this water doing here!?” Veronica was still in the room where Brittany was being held captive. Victini was gone now. Veronica lost her chance when all of the water starting pouring in the room.
“That, Veronica, would be my newly evolved Dewott’s Surf attack. You see, all of the people blocking the entrance were- how should I put it? Good training- yes, that’s it. Good training. Oshawott evolved in the process and learned Surf.” Purple jumped down into the water after smirking at Veronica.
Brittany, being tied up, couldn't escape. The water was getting higher and higher. Knowing this, Purple still commanded Dewott to use Surf. Dewott had to get Veronica to leave. Purple would have to go save Brittany himself.
The water was now up to Veronica’s chest. Brittany was struggling under the water. She couldn't breathe, and she knew she couldn't hold her breath much longer. By the time Purple reached her, she was almost unconscious.
Dewott was swimming in the water while he released more water. Veronica was trying to reach the exit, but she couldn't swim very fast with all of her bulky clothes. Purple had reached and picked Brittany up. She wasn't responding.
When Purple ascended to the surface, Veronica was gone. It was obvious there had been a battle as there was ice all over the walls. Dewott had tried to stop her with Ice Beam, but it was a miserable fail.
“We need somewhere dry… Solosis, come out and make a room with your Psychic.”
The Cell Pokemon did as told. Its eyes glowed pink as they always did. A few walls appeared over the now filled room.
Purple laid Brittany on the wall and climbed up himself. He tried everything to wake her up, but nothing was working. He went to the last resort… mouth-to-mouth.
Purple put his lips on Brittany’s and tried to bring her back. He did this for a few minutes, and nothing happened.
The boy gave up and sat next to her. He stroked her hair a couple of times, but then a fiery, intense light filled the corridor in which Veronica escaped.
Out of the light came Victini! Victini flew over to Brittany and laid itself on top of her body. Victini’s heat spread into Brittany, and it brought her back.
The girl sat up and started choking up water. When she was done, she said, “Wha-what happened? And who is the Pokemon in my lap?”
Purple, relieved, answered, “This Pokemon is Victini. Victini’s ‘flames of life’ saved you. You were dead.”
Purple scanned Victini while he had the chance. Who knew if he would ever see it again?
Victini, the Victory Pokemon. When it shares the infinite energy it creates, that being's entire body will be overflowing with power.
Dewott jumped out of the water and landed next to Purple.
“Who’s this Dewott? Don’t tell me… You’re Oshawott evolved!?”
“He sure did!”
Brittany then scanned Dewott.
Dewott, the Discipline Pokemon, and the evolved form of Oshawott. As a result of strict training, each Dewott learns different forms for using the scalchops.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
Brittany answered her Xtransciever. It was Roxie!
“Hi, Brittany. I heard from the Castelia City gym leader that you were taken by the same people that were at the Virbank Shipyard. Are you okay?”
“I’m okay, Roxie. Thank you for asking.”
“My guess is that they took you since you knew their motive about Liberty Island. Hmm…”
“Wait, who is the Castelia City gym leader!?”
“That would be me.”
A tall man walked into the room from the corridor. Most of the water was out of the room now. He helped Brittany and Purple into the corridor from the “room”, and Purple returned Solosis and Dewott to their Poke Balls. In the process, Brittany accidentally hung up on Roxie.
“I’m Burgh. As Roxie said, I told her, and, yes, I’m the gym leader of Castelia City. It’s nice to meet both of you.”
Burgh said this and then walked them out of the building. An Accelgor was waiting for Burgh outside of the building.
“Good job, Accelgor. Return. Oh, sorry, I should explain. I had Accelgor here get rid of the left over grunts.”
The helicopter that Burgh had taken to the island was still hovering over Liberty Island. The attendant threw the rope down, and Burgh motioned us to climb up. We did, and we were in Castelia in no time.
Burgh started, “Purple, I would like to share something with you. For your heroic deeds- saving Brittany and stopping Team Underworld- I am presenting you with the official Pokemon League Insect Badge.”
Purple accepted and picked up the green badge. He opened his Badge Case and put it right next to his Basic Badge.
“I would also like to present you with one, Brittany.”
“As much as I appreciate it… I won’t accept it.”
Purple and Burgh were both shocked. Their expressions were both of sheer confusion.
“I want a real gym battle.”
So, that’s what she got.
“This will be a two-on-two battle. When both Pokemon on either side are unable to battle, the match will end,” the announcer of the Castelia Gym stated.
Burgh and Brittany threw their Poke Balls, and the Pocket Monsters were released for the gym battle.
“The first match is Crustle versus Marill. Let the match begin!”
Marill started to glow. Her form changed, and she was now an Azumarill!
“All of that training paid off, didn't it, Azumarill?”
Azumarill nodded. She was pumped for this battle!
Azumarill started the battle off with Aqua Tail. He tail glowed aqua, and she flew across the field.
“Crustle, guard yourself!”
Crustle went into its shell. When Azumarill landed the hit, she bounced right back off.
“They’ll use that shell every time we attack. We have to get rid of it!”
Azumarill ran around Crustle in circles. Crustle looked every which way, but to no avail could it see where Azumarill would be.
“Stop this, now. Crustle, come out of your shell with Shell Smash!”
Crustle’s body came out of the shell and hopped into the air. Azumarill slowly slowed down. Crustle’s body glowed red and orange. Cracks appeared, and then all of its power surged into its claws. Burgh commanded Crustle to use Rock Blast, and it did.
Five powered-up rocks appeared and were shot at Azumarill. One hit, and the other four missed. Azumarill knew that this was the only chance to attack.
“I acted like I didn't know what Shell Smash is, but I do. I know that your Defense drastically dropped.” She smirked and commanded for her loyal Pokemon to use Aqua Tail again.
Azumarill’s polka dotted body launched at Crustle’s midair body with an Aqua Tail to boot. Azumarill spun and hit Crustle, and the body slammed into the ground. Clouds of dust roared through the arena, but Brittany was pretty confident that Crustle was knocked out.
When the smoke cleared, the announcer confirmed, “Crustle is unable to battle!”
“I guess my next Pokemon will have to be my trump card, huh? My faithful partner, Leavanny!”
Brittany grabbed her Pokedex and scanned Leavanny to check it out.
Leavanny, the Nurturing Pokemon and the evolved form of Swadloon. Upon finding a small Pokemon, it weaves clothing for it from leaves, using the cutters on its arms and sticky silk.
“This may be trouble, Azumarill. It’s also a Grass-type Pokemon. Be careful and watch out!”
“Leavnny, finish Azumarill. Leaf Blade attack now!”
Leavanny’s sword-like arms glowed an even more alluring green, and Leavanny, in the blink of an eye, was already across the field.
Nice revival of Brittany! I didn't expect that, Victini coming along and saving the day. It's great how all your chapters flow, and it doesn't feel like there are too many unintended breaks. Not many grammar mistakes either. It's going along really well!
Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I've recently lost two members of my family. I really like what you've done for the fic. I haven't watched many shows from the anime recently nor read the manga before, so some of these things are a new experience for me. One thing I thought was really clever was having Lenora and Cheren there at the same time. I like the story and I found it easy to read and it was well paced.
