I love the features that have been incorporated into B/W/B2/W2, namely the little things such as the PWT, battling the E4 in any order you want, and above all else reusable TMs. But I have no doubt if those were incorporated into Gen IV then I'd easily pick Gen IV.

Graphics-wise, I think it looks great. Everything's sharp and colorful, though sometimes they can appear to be pretty pixelated (especially egregious in the cutscenes - though maybe this is because I'm used to anime cutscenes). And of course, there are the animated trainer sprites, and the redesign of various screens. There's really no need to revert back to the Gen IV style.

Features-wise, it could do with some of the Gen IV-only features, such as your Pokémon walking with you in the overworld, Contests, Pokéathlons, the Underground, and so on. They're really great features, and I was more than a little frustrated that they'd been taken out of Gen V, for some unfathomable reason. Those would beat Musicals or PokéStar Studios any time.

The new style is essentially what the franchise needs as a whole.
Masuda has said it many times 2D will always be important.
And as fans we don't want Pokes to go full 3D.
That being said the franchise does need to move forward!

The BW/BW2 battling system is amazing and nothing compares to it.
The moving sprites and the detail gives you a feeling of pace and energy.
Compared to the now-dull and flat Gen 4/3/2/1 battles.

Then we have amazing use of 3D angles like in Aspertia look out.
I think it's awesome but subtle and not over-the-top.
That's what GF plans to do and that's what they should do aswell.
We need advancement and some creativity but not too much.
BW/BW2 gave us a balance and lets hope the same for future games!

and above all else reusable TMs
Have to say this is one of my favourite things about Gen 5.

I plan on raising more than one team and sometimes I just want to use a TM again.

In previous games I was so worried about regretting using a one-time only TM that I would very rarely use a TM that I couldn't get again (e.g. from a store or as a game corner prize).

While I still to this day enjoy the old pokemon games and their graphics i see nothing wrong with the direction they took for B2/W2. Reusable TMs are just amazing

Personally, I'm not a fan of a 3D Pokémon game. However, some people are. By giving both fans what they want is why released it for the DS as well.

No. Animated sprites are sexy. Besides, Gen IV battles took forever. Despite those pretty visuals, battles' incredibly slow pace make me cringe when playing Gen IV games.

tldr; do not want in a million years
Guess I'm good at RNGing stuff.

Nope, I actually think the moving sprites is a nice push in the right direction. It would be nice if the sprites were made to be smoother, with less rough edges. Also, slowing down that panning camera would seriously be a nice plus as well.

My other favorite aspect of V that was a HUGE plus was how fast-paced the game was in general; I liked how the speech/battles were pretty darn speedy. AND THOSE ANIMATED TRAINER SPRITES.

+1 for the re-usuable TMs. I HATED it having to find out which moves could be breed, which ones you ABSOLUTELY couldn't delete, otherwise the move goes poof. One less thing to worry about.

Overall, I'm looking forward to the next generation, and I hope GF continues to focus and improve upon their franchise. c:

No way. Black 2 and White 2 are currently, in my opinion, better off with what they have. Going back to Gen IV graphics would be a letdown not to mention extremely... meh-ish.

They really outdid themselves in doing the games. And I'm dead serious!

Reusable TMs, Battling the Elite 4 in any order, Rustling Grass (and other parts of the landscape), different perspectives from different angles and 3D style battling.

Personally, I feel all theses changes enhanced the game play and made it more "modern". Although the graphics and features were great in other generations I just think that generation 5 has great additions and hopefully they maintain this standard in future generations.

I tried replaying pokemon platinum a while ago, and I just couldn't help but to feel bored by the static headshots instead of the lovely fullbody animated versions of my pokemon in battle. The animation and the reusable TMs make gen V such a great improvement over Gen IV I can't wait to see where they go next.

This. Pokemon is just keeping up with the times, aesthetically speaking. They've found a good balance between 2D and 3D, but even so I wouldn't mind if they pushed things a little further towards the 3D end.

And at the end of the day, no matter how it looks, it's still the same old pokemon we've come to know and love. The core mechanics haven't changed since the R/B/Y days.

Gen IV is 3D. Gen V is 3D also.

Gen V's map engine is just a modified version of Gen IV's engine. The changes in Gen V allows rail-based movement rather than grid-based movement, which allows for stuff like multi-directional paths, which is shown off most prominently in Castelia City and surrounding areas. To further make it seem more "3D", Gen V's camera is at a lower angle than Gen IV's camera.

It's a common misconception that Gen IV is "2.5D". Gen IV is full 3D. It has a camera that can be exploited with cheat codes to look just like Gen V (although Gen V will still look better just because it has prettier textures in general). The playing field is made up of a bunch of "sections", each section being a giant square plane with stuff on it. Each "section" is a 3D model. I know this because I'm a member of a ROM hacking forum that has someone who is developing a map editor for the DS games.

Gen V's Pokemon look absolutely hideous and ridiculously pixelated. I like everything about Gen V except for the Pokemon. And let's be honest. You're still only seeing the back of the Pokemon. A bigger view of the back, but still just the back. And not to mention, the animations? A slight 'bounce'? Pffft. Please give me back IV.

I want it to be as simple as pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal. But that will never happen.

With simple i mean no 3d effects, no sprites moving, GameBoy-like music, etc.
