Although good in OU, I personally found Hydreigon to be laughable prior to the Move Tutors of Black2/White2. I mean, seriously, it can't learn Dark Pulse unless you trade over a Gyarados that was taught it back in Generation IV? (That's what my research showed: Gyarados shares an Egg category with Hydreigon, can be taught Dark Pulse via TM, it's an Egg move for Hydreigon...you get the rest.)

there are other Pokemon you could pass dark pulse with for example I had used a Seviper....(Arbok also works)
The worst part was that Earthpower was also an eggmove, so it was useless as you had to forgo STAB to get it...

Ah, Hydreigon... one of the very first things I made in BW once I learned how to RNG Eggs, anyways.

The one I use, Sp. Atk:
Modest/Timid. EVs: 6 HP, 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Spd
Item: Choice Specs
Dragon Pulse
Dark Pulse
Flamethrower
Earth Power

Though technically, I can't have Hydreigon with both Earth Power and Dark Pulse in BW without support from BW2, there's nothing a little glitched Ditto can't handle. But for those who argue about its 'legitimacy', replace Earth Power with Surf or Charge Beam.

Second one, Atk:
Adamant/Jolly. EVs: 6 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spd.
Item: Choice Band
Outrage
Crunch
Earthquake
Head Smash

Outrage does what it does best: kill things, including allies in Generation III and IV. Earthquake is there to destroy Steel types that withstand Earthquake (and also kills allies too, so beware). Crunch is for secondary STAB and may lower Def. Head Smash is for... Skarmory, I guess. Crack one of the 3 skulls of Hydreigon on an enemy's and take recoil for some reason. 80 Acc sucks and will miss probably 50% of the time, but the 150 power is very nice.

Back in the days where Earth Power and Dark Pulse were not move tutor, I personally used this Mixed-Sweeper set in-game.

Draco Meteor is STAB max power possible.
Fire Blast for steels
Crunch is for special walls
And U-turn is to switch out while weakening my foe.

Other options for this set:
-Choice Scarf can be used instead to make it faster.
-For some reason, I still feel crunch is better than dark pulse. I think it's because majority of ou pokemon weak against dark has lower def than sp.def.
-Maybe give more attack ev?
-Earthquake/Earth Power for heatran

Move Options
There are a lot. First, STAB Moves. The usable Dragon ones - Dragon Pulse, Dragon Rush, Outrage, and Draco Meteor - are the cream of the crop. Dragon Rush sacrifices some of Outrage's Power in order to be able to not be locked into one Move for several turns, to not be confused afterwards, and to get lucky Flinches. Dragon Pulse is similarly favorable over Draco Meteor if you don't want to sacrifice Sp.Atk with every use.

For Dark, your options are lessened - Crunch, Payback, Dark Pulse, Assurance, and Thief are the only Dark-Type offensive Moves. Assurance is pitiful outside of Doubles and Triples, so we'll leave that as an option for only those Battles. Thief is useless in Power and you'll usually have a non-consumable that you'll pick yourself, so it's similarly useless unless you use Acrobatics. Crunch is great for most Psychic Types due to a lack of Defense, plus it has a chance to debuff Defense as well (a rather nice occurrence to swing a Battle's tide, if you're lucky). Payback is a good option if you frequently face faster opponents or Priority Moves, but is otherwise lackluster. Dark Pulse is the cherry on top for Hydrei' - uses the higher Sp.Atk, can Flinch opponents (especially useful with your Speed), and pairs nicely with Superpower for Type-coverage.

Non-STAB Moves are quite plentiful in Type, usefulness, and number:
-Normal: Tri Attack, Hyper Voice, Body Slam, Return, Facade
-Water: Surf, Aqua Tail
-Fire: Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Fire Fang, Heat Wave
-Electric: Thunder Fang, Charge Beam
-Rock: Head Smash, Rock Slide, Stone Edge
-Ground: Earth Power, Earthquake
-Fighting: Superpower, Focus Blast
-Flying: Acrobatics
-Ice: Ice Fang
-Bug: Signal Beam, U-Turn
-Steel: Iron Tail, Flash Cannon
-Hidden Power for any other Move Type

In my opinion, Physical Hydreigon should be left to mence, Haxorus, and Dnite (full physical not mixed) since 105 attack isn't great unlike 147 attack and stuff.
