Although this is a pretty short chapter, it does seem pretty good. The inclusion of Bugsy in Viridian forest was pretty cool, although you made him seem older than I think he really is. But what do I know, I never actually played the Gen. 2 games. The Novice Cup sounds interesting too. Side quest Get! Haha. And for a couple of seconds, I thought that Snubull would totally have evolved. I guess it's too early then. Oh well. I don't usually evolve until after the first gym. Even then it's my starter.

Oh, and This is for you Joe.
Y u no know Bugsy is a third Gym Leader? Lol
Thanks for the comment i know it was a little short but i wanted to keep adam and joe's respective battles with bugsy seperate, plus i was again short on time
I wasn't sure what age Bugsy is supposed to be but this is set a couple of years after Ash and stuff (guess i should've mentioned that) but i wouldn't have thought a kid could be a hym leader. Snubbull evolving? Well you might have to wait a while for that, the egg still hasn't hatched.
    Thanks again

    Chapter7: Spooktacular showdown
“It is your turn now, Yanma!” Bugsy shouted as a Yanma emerged from his Pokeball.

“Let’s take it down, Squirtle!” Squirtle danced its way to the temporary arena before changing to a serious mood, starring straight at Yanma. “Kick things off with Bubble!” Squirtle shot a group of bubbles at Yanma, but Yanma replied by flapping its wings and sending a slash of air to break the bubbles.

“Great work, Yanma. Now let’s go for Quick Attack.” Yanma sped through the air and repeatedly slammed into the side of Squirtle. Adam ordered Squirtle to dodge but Yanma was too fast and each time Squirtle’s sluggish dodges failed.

“This is just what he did against Joe. We can’t let it happen to us.” Squirtle looked over to Adam with sad eyes, still unable to reply to the masses of Quick Attack. “’Try a spinning bubble.” Squirtle began to slowly spin, throwing bubbles in every direction. Yanma charged towards Squirtle but was walled by the flooding of bubbles. It kept trying to find routes through, but each time it was buffeted by the bubbles and eventually it looked back at Bugsy in desperation.

“It’s time to change tactics. Double Team, now!” Yanma scurried away from Squirtle and began to circle it with great speed. “It is time to get on the front foot, but are you capable of finding the real Yanma.” By now it seemed as if dozens of Yanma had mystically appeared and Squirtle had stopped spinning through exhaustion. Constantly panting, Squirtle scanned the area in search of the true Yanma.

“I hope we get lucky, Tackle any random Yanma!” Squirtle then slammed the side of his body into a Yanma mirage and fell to the floor. The real Yanma then swiftly flew over and smacked the side of Squirtle.

“Tackle!” both trainers yelled in unison. Their weak Pokemon then smashed into each other and both fell back, unable to battle.

“Wow! I didn’t expect a draw; that was an epic battle!” Joe interrupted as he ran over to meet the pair of trainers.

“Thanks… err… sorry, but I don’t think you have told me your name”

“Oh right, well I’m Joe and this is Adam. I’m a trainer and he’s a breeder.”

“Well thank you, Joe. The pair of you are very good trainers.”

    “Aww shucks, really? Thanks.”

“Well I better be going, things to do and places to be.” Bugsy prepared to exit before Adam begged him to show them a route out of the forest. Reluctantly, Bugsy agreed.

Some time later, the three boys arrived at a huge, dark tent. Bugsy informed the boys that this was the location of the Novice Cup and that it was to be Halloween themed. Many people were arriving in scary costumes with their Pokemon. The boys looked rather mystified before Bugsy reassured them that these people were there for the opening ceremony.

They made their way inside the tent and walked up to a desk with the word ‘Registration’ written on a sign nearby. “Hey, do you want to register for the Novice Cup?” the lady sat behind the desk asked.

“Yes, please. My name is Joe.” Joe replied.

“Can I please see the two Pokemon you wish to participate with and confirmation that you have no Kanto Gym Badges?”

“Well, I kind of have a Snubbull and an egg, does that count?”

“I’m sorry; I can’t allow an egg as a Pokemon, NEXT!” Joe walked off depressed as Adam stepped up to the desk. “Hey, do you want to register for the Novice Cup?”

“Yeah, but I’ve only got one Pokemon. Can you please make an exception?”

“I’m sorry; a contestant must have two Pokemon, NEXT”

“How rude, I’ll just have to catch a new Pokemon.” Adam murmured under his breath as he and Joe walked off.

They ventured through the great forest, which was now covered in Halloween decorations, twisting their heads here and there in desperation. Joe kept looking down at his egg, hoping for cracks, alas there were none. Many other trainers, performers and down right creeps passed them, all heading to the tournament. “All the wild Pokemon must have been driven out, there’s no hope of – wait, look at that!” Joe cried out as a Beedrill flew straight past.

“I’ve got to get that Beedrill!” Adam chased after it, dodging trees, people and other Pokemon until the Beedrill finally settled by a small pond. “This is our chance, come on out, Squirtle.” Squirtle popped out of its Pokeball and prepared to attack. Adam commanded a Bubble and Squirtle threw several bubbles out of its mouth. They crept towards Beedrill and smashed into its wings. The wild bee quickly wiped the attack off and stabbed its now purple stinger into Squirtle’s shell. Squirtle replied by crashing into Beedrill as it began to fly away, causing it to fall to the ground. “All right, it is Pokeball time!”

“Not so fast, that’s our Beedrill now!” Azim declared as he and Etick emerged from the shadows that surrounded the area. Azim shot a net from a gun-like machine he was holding and it covered the Beedrill, “We’ll be seeing you around doofus and don’t worry; we WILL kick your ***!”

“Come back here, that was going to be my first capture!” Adam called out with a tear falling down his face.

“What’s going on?” Joe asked as he ran through the trees to catch up with Adam, closely followed by Bugsy.

“Team Storm… Beedrill… Squirtle did so well” Adam blurted out as he burst into tears.

“Not those thugs again, Bugsy come with.” Joe and Bugsy darted off into the trees.

“Wait… they went the other way.”

After a long chase, Bugsy and Joe finally caught up with Team Storm. Joe called out to them, telling them to stop. Azim and Etick looked at each in two minds as to whether they should flee or fight. Shortly, they sent out their Pokemon. “Joe, I’m sorry but this is up to you, my Pokemon are still weak.” Bugsy rumbled full of panic.

“But so is Snubbull, what do we do?” Joe worried. “Ouch my arms, this eggs getting really warm… get in, the egg is hatching.” The egg Joe was holding tightly in his hands began to glow and cracks emerged. The egg smashed into millions of pieces and in its place sat a purple blob with pointy brown ears. Suddenly remembering he had a Pokedex, Joe whipped it out and pointed it at the newly hatched Pokemon.

“Cleffa, Because of its unusual, star-like silhouette, people believe that it came here on a meteor.”

Cleffa then began to twist her fingers around and it became covered in a red light and created a massive explosion that sent Team Storm and their Pokemon flying backwards. The trio cheered but Adam was once again upset as he saw Beedrill fly away. Bugsy began to feel sorry for Adam, realising how much that Beedrill meant to him and hunted through his bag. He retrieved a Pokeball and handed it to Adam telling him it was a young Weedle.

“But, it isn’t Beedrill” Adam weeped

“No, but with the love and care a good breeder can give it, it will be a Beedrill in no time!”

Adam wiped the tears from his face, took the Pokeball and headed back to the tent.

Oooo, Cleffa. I actually think that Cleffa was a good choice. it's not to powerful, but could be if trained hard enough. I like how Adam reacted, and I want to see how he handles raising a Kakuna. Beedrill to me is my favorite Bug type, and I would be as too if someone took mine!

I'm glad you like Cleffa, it was a tough choice to make. Writing about a Kakuna will be a challenge but i hope to make it fun for you and the other readers.

EDIT: Just to let you all know, I've created a character details and chapter list section on the first post

    Chapter 8: Fierce Fighting
“Joe… Joe, get up god damn it, we’re going to be late. Joe!” Adam screamed as the morning sun slowly crept its way through several holes in the battered tent.

“You’re not my alarm clock, so just be quiet and let me sleep.” Joe murmured whilst he sluggishly pushed Adam away.

“I told you not to party so much last night.” Adam remembered the festival the night before. I had been a night of dancing, fireworks and loud music… very loud music. It had gone on late into the night and while Adam had left early on, Joe had stayed and partied all night long.

“But it was fun! You should loosen up a bit clever clogs.”

“I’m perfectly loose; I just couldn’t stand that ridiculous music. The songs were terrible and it was so, so, so, so loud!”

Eventually, Joe was awake and the boys wandered down to the foyer. There were many trainers talking with one another about the tournament, but there was one boy whose voice conquered all the others. “It is expected that the accommodation provided for me and all of the other participants should be immaculate, faultless even. Yet, you grant us with something fragmentary and, quite frankly, woeful to live in!” cried a demanding and arrogant voice.

“Mister, with all due respect, you will be staying here for mere days so the accommodation provided does not need to be perfect, only suitable for the temporary stay of our participants, so you’re your complaint will not be lodged.” replied a condescending receptionist.

A boy a few years older than Joe and the same age as the complaining boy slowly walked past. Wit his muscles flexing in the slightest of drafts, he then approached the whining boy and whispered into his ears, “What happens to be the matter looser, not getting what you want?”

“Kai? What are you doing here?”

“Well, Harry, I’m participating in the tournament. I guess your just here to complain or nerd up.”

“You WILL learn one day, tactics and strategy is a much better way of battling than pure power.”

Kai laughed and the boys continued to bicker for another few minutes before Kai finally swaggered away. Joe approached Harry and asked him about the squabble. “Well, Kai and I began our journey at the same time in Unova. We had never really been friends, he was focused on strength while I was focused on intelligence, and that’s not just Pokemon battling. In the Unova league he beat me in the quarter finals, I was truly gutted. From there we both set off on a journey through Sinnoh, were he, once again, beat me in the league. I then travelled through Hoenn and presumable he went to Johto.” Harry explained as he precisely wiped his glasses.

“So you’re rivals then? I have a rival as well, his name is Ben.”

“Yes we are, but I should be bothered about you why?” Harry sighed bluntly as wandered off bored.

“Well, those two are both rather… cocky.” Adam concluded. The boys wondered outside the tent for some training. It was discovered that Cleffa new the move Pound, on top of Metronome, and Weedle knew the moves String Shot and Posion Sting.

A while later, the boys entered the tent for the first-round draw. A tall man wearing a suit of bright colours danced to the centre of the arena. “Ladies and gentlemen, hello and welcome to the Novice Cup!” he screamed joyously, “I am your host, the most colourful man in all of Kanto, Mr. Chroma. Now, I’m sure you all know the rules, so without further ado let’s get on with the first round draw!”

Hope swept across the room, every trainer wanted to face either their rival or someone they thought would be an easy match. Mr. Chroma randomly drew names out of a hat and declared each match. Time ticked by and soon there were only a few names left. “Our next match will be… Adam against… Kai!” Adam was gripped with determination, he felt duty-bound to stop his belief in pure power in its tracks. “And finally, we have Joe against Marcus. With that, the battles shall get underway.”

Time passed and the boys watched battle after battle. There were some enthralling matches, and some not so exciting. Ben and Harry won both their battles, using a Mankey and a Chansey respectively, and now it was time for Adam’s battle with Kai.

They took their places in the arena and threw their Pokeballs. Out of Adam’s Pokeball popped Squirtle, who did a customary spin on his shell before taking a serious stance. On the other side of the surprisingly professional arena stood a vicious Hitmonchan. “This should be easy.” Kai muttered confidently, “I’ll just end this quickly shall I? Thunder Punch!” Hitmonchan dashed towards Squirtle with sparks ejecting from its right hand. Adam quickly ordered Squirtle to use Withdraw but Hitmonchan struck Squirtle and sent it flying back, screeching in pain.

Squirtle staggered to his feet, determined to win, and sent a puddle of bubbles flying at Hitmonchan. Hitmonchan nimbly dodged the bubbles and went straight for another Thunder Punch. This time, Squirtle responded with a trademark spinning Bubble that threw Hitmonchan back to its trainer’s feet. It shook off the attack with ease and went straight for another attack but it was yet again sent flying back. Kai reassured Hitmonchan and encouraged it to continue but it just sat on its back, failing to get up.

“All right, this is our chance. Squirtle, get over there and hit it with a Tackle attack.” Squirtle pranced over to Hitmonchan and went to throw itself at the punchy Pokemon. Alas, Hitmonchan flung an electrified fist at Squirtle and sent it to the other side of the arena, unable to battle.

“And so the winner of this battle is… Kai and Hitmonchan!” Mr. Chroma cried out as he went to congratulate Kai, who had now wandered off. “Well, if he doesn’t want a round of applause then more fool him. Our final first round battle is between Joe and Marcus. Would our two trainers please take their places on the arena.” Joe marched on to the arena cheerfully. Across from him was a nervous young boy shaking ferociously.

“Hmm, Cleffa could use some experience, but Snubbull will be a better battler. Who should I use?” Joe whispered as he looked down at his two Pokeballs. Joe tossed a Pokeball, and out came Cleffa. She looked around, puzzled by the surroundings. Marcus then apprehensively tossed a Pokeball from his tanned hands and from the flash emerged a Voltorb. The Voltorb circled its trainer, camouflaging with his red and white clothes.

“Well Voltorb generally have low defences, so hitting it with physical attacks would be his best bet.” Adam mumbled to himself from the sidelines.

“Though, Voltorb may have the ability Static so that may not always be the best strategy.” Harry rudely interrupted from next to him.

The battle began with Voltorb sending a white shockwave through the air, which struck Cleffa in the neck. Cleffa fell back but bounced back eagerly and rushed over the arena and stuck Voltorb with her arm. Voltorb rolled back and hid behind it trainer. “Come on Voltorb, I’ve told you not to give up!” the trainer said despairingly with Voltorb looking up cowardly.

“Come on; let’s get on with this battle already!” Joe cried.

“Sorry, but Voltorb seems nervous.” The trainer turned to his Pokemon, “Please, keep battling. I promise nothing bad will happen.” Voltorb looked up at him accusingly. “I promise you’ll be fine if you just trust me. Just forget about what happened in the past. Please!” Voltorb tentatively rolled away from its trainer and back to the battle field.

“Well, it’s about time. Let’s hit it with another Pound Cleffa!” Cleffa sped across the arena and went to hit Voltorb again, but it rolled away. She kept trying, but Voltorb just kept dodging. Suddenly, Voltorb became engulfed in a yellow light and slammed into the side of Cleffa; she was almost out for the count.

“Grrr, try a metronome.” Joe cried desperately, “Please, please, please be a good move!” he then begged. Cleffa then began to twitch her puny arms and all of a sudden her body became covered in a yellow glow and all the bruises on her disappeared. Full of energy, she went for another pound attack; and another; and another. Squealing in pain, Voltorb rolled around frantically. A beaming grin crossed Joe’s face until he noticed something odd about Cleffa.

“I told you physical attacks wouldn’t win him the battle. With Cleffa now paralysed, this battle should get interesting.” Harry gloated to Adam.

With sparks now covering her body, Cleffa flapped her hands in desperation, only for a shot of water to fly out at Voltorb. Voltorb then became covered in sparks, as if it was charging electricity. Cleffa then used Metronome again, but this time it pulled off a Hypnosis attack. Her eyes began to glow and Voltorb fell asleep. Cleffa then trudged over and continuously slapped Voltorb until it was unable to battle.

“And so the winner is… Joe and Cleffa! Let’s give them a round of applause.” Mr. Chroma cheered as the crowd clapped, “Now join us tomorrow for the next round!”

    I like it!
You have a very good plot,
you have introduced a new team, a Novice Cup,
    a Pokerus, Bugsy returned.

Your character development has a positive and negative sides:
    - Even though you try really hard to develop Joe's character, he got, in my opinion, not the best Pokemon. Snubull and Cleffa? I am sorry, but I think you've been unjust to Joe.
I was really disappointed that he received not Larvitar, Charmander, but Snubull
+ Adam has a great character development and he got two of my fav pokemon.
And one more +: your battle descriptions are very good.

Thanks so much for the comment!
I wanted to ad some diverstity with Bugsy, the Novice cup and the things you mentioned at the start.
As for giving Joe the snubbull, i wanted it to be a shock. I dont think i've ever heard of someone starting an adventure with a snubbull and it was also suposed to be a suprose after i had suggested he would get a charmander then a larvitar. For cleffa, i think it is a pokemon that can become very powerful if trained right and i wanted to give joe a test in a cleffa if you get me

Chapter 9: This time it isn't a dream

The crowd cheered as Mr. Chroma grabbed his microphone, “Hello everybody and welcome to the second round draw!” he announced. Joe’s face lit up with anticipation. He glanced around at the competitors around him, mentally judging a potential battle. “The first two names to be pulled out of the hat are… Ben… and… Joe! So the first battle of the second round will be Ben versus Joe. In a change to the first round, each battle will take place immediately after it has been decided, so would Ben and Joe please join me on the arena?”

Ben swaggered to one end of the arena, with Joe staggering to the opposite end. “Humph, I wanted a difficult battle. I guess an easy win will do my Pokemon some good, though” Ben smirked.

“I… You… We’ll win, you mark my words!” Joe mumbled.

The two trainers tossed their Pokeballs and out came a Charmander and a Snubbull. Both Pokemon grinned, but Joe stood shaking. “Snubb… Snubbull use… Ice Fang!”

“Ice Fang, what is he doing?” Adam screamed from the crowds.

Snubbull leapt towards Charmander and crushed down with his icy teeth. Charmander took the attack with ease, responding by shooting small flames from his gaping mouth. The flames threw Snubbull back and he recoiled in pain. Smirking happily, Ben ordered a Dragon Rage. Upon command, Charmander sent a spiralling twister hurtling towards Snubbull. Snubbull leapt to one side but was caught by the blast.

“Snubbull, no!” Joe cried as Snubbull was forced backwards. “Tackle, right away.”

Snubbull bullishly rammed into Charmander, but was struck with a Metal Claw at the same time. Both Pokemon flew though the air, crashing to the ground with a massive thud.

“Hidden Power, Snubbull, now!” Joe ordered.

“Well, this should be interesting.” Harry muttered from the side of the arena. “Though, I highly doubt he really knows how to use it.”

Snubbull sent out a beam of white light that struck Charmander, sending him flying back, and immediately followed it by slamming into the side of his opponent. But, Charmander gritted his teeth and forced Snubbull away with a mighty Metal Claw attack.

Both Pokemon and both trainers starred deeply into one another’s eyes. A tense blanket of silence hung over the arena. Suddenly, Charmander spat flames out towards Snubbull and got a direct hit. The blanket was torn and the battle raged on again.

Charmander continued to pelt Snubbull with Ember attacks, but Snubbull replied with a series of tackles. Both Pokemon were panting heavily, but were still determined. Snubbull let out a beam of white light again, but this time Charmander leapt out of its path and closed in on Snubbull. Charmander gripped Snubbull’s neck tightly with a metallic hand and forced flames upon his face. Charmander retreated to the safety of its trainer. Still standing tall, Charmander looked across the arena to see his fallen foe. Snubbull was out for the count.

“And so the winner is… Ben and his Charmander!” Mr. Chroma screamed as he marched to the centre of the arena. The host started a round of applause as the two trainers parted from the arena.

Later that night, with the moon hanging gloomily over the sky, Joe sat outside the tent with tears flooding down his face. “He beat me!” he exclaimed. “I can’t believe he beat me. What did I do wrong?”

“Well, to start you used Ice Fang against a Fire type.” Harry sighed as he bent down beside him. “But don’t beat yourself up, sometimes things just don’t go your way.” He added understandingly.

“Why do you care? You’re just an uptight geek, what have I done to earn your sympathy?”

“Look, I’m sorry about that yesterday, I was… aggravated. I know what its like to loose to a rival, and I know what it is like to freeze, as well.”

“But, you’re like a professional at Pokemon battles – you’ve been in three leagues!”

As Harry pondered over his response, there was a huge scream from behind them.

“Come back here with my Voltorb! I won’t let you take him again!” screamed a voice.

Joe turned to see Marcus chasing after two thugs, one of whom held his Voltorb. Joe and Harry dashed after them, but they were too fast.

“Salamance, you’re needed.” Harry called out as he released Salamance from its Pokeball. The Salamance soared into the sky and dived ferociously towards the thugs. There was a huge crash and a cloud of smoke swept across the forest. Salamance confidently emerged from the smoke holding the two thugs in its mouth with Voltorb rolling slowly behind it.

“And I thought you only did things tactically.” Joe murmured to Harry sarcastically.

    “I got the kid’s Pokemon back, didn’t I?”

Marcus charged cheerfully over to Votorb, but it rolled away into the forest again. With tears beginning to drip down his face, Marcus continued to chase after Voltorb but it just kept on retreating. Eventually, they ended up back by the tent.

“Please, Voltorb, please come back to me!” Marcus begged. Voltorb gazed at him resentfully and slowly rolled over to Salamance and Harry.

“Go back to you’re trainer, Voltorb. He needs you and he loves you. Just go back.” Harry said softly.

Ben strode up behind them and sighed deeply. “It’s a weak Pokemon and it clearly has a nervous disposition or something, so just release it and don’t let it burden you.”

“Hey, that’s no way to talk about a Pokemon!” Joe yelled. “It’s just scared because of Team Storm.”

“Team Storm?” Marcus said confusedly. “Who are they? It is Team Rocket that keeps taking my precious Voltorb.”

”Guys, as much as I just love talking about evil goons who go around stealing Pokemon, there is a Voltorb here he needs to go back to his trainer. Now let’s get this sorted.” Harry interrupted.

All eyes were fixed on Voltorb. Voltorb gazed at Harry, then Marcus and began to roll…

I'm not going to lie, but I totally expected Charmander to win. But my prediction was heavily biased against Snubull.I personally didn't see any spelling or grammar errors, however, I could've wrong. I really want to see how Team Rocket and Team Storm act with each other, or if they're the same entity, or if Team Storm is a splinter team off of Team Rocket. There's a million possibilities that I see here. I'm waiting to see which way you go.

    Thanks for the relpy
I know it was kind of obvious that charmander would win, but i wanted to set up the rivalry. But don't worry - he won't do an Ash and always loose to his rival.
As for Team Strom and Rocket i have something interesting planned, but you are going to have to wait a while for that. Oh and no spelling or grammar errors - yayyyy!
