Who knows he may even have a transfer machine at his base. So it would be no big deal to just switch them around between rounds.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. Well, we only have to wait for the episode's airing for an eventual confirmation.

I could totally see the writers pulling a curveball on us and have Virgil use his Eeveelutions for rescue work but also having a side team coughhydreigon for the league.

He doesnt, because the league rival summary page said clearly "He enters with Team Eevee" which means he will use Eeveelutions only. Or they would have said he has an alternate team.

I was trying to say that maybe he'll "ASK" the referee is he can battle all of them. lol It should be okay if both trainers are okay with it, right?

Probably would never happen but it would be pretty cool xD A battle where Ash is allowed to use 8 Pokemon against 8 Pokemon of Virgil (with a break after the first 4 battles so they can replace their Pokemon for the other 4).
Ash would probably go type vs same type lol.

I can see that happening a little. I don't remember, but for 6vs6 battles in one of the previous league's, didn't the battlefield change after 3 victories? If so, then like you said they can swap their next 4 pokemon to the field after the first 4 battles.

I believe Jolteon and Vaporeon were in them. But, Umbreon and Glaceon could be the other two also. Since the previews are scrambled I have no clue.

Probably his actual team will be: Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Umbreon and Glaceon. Espeon will rescue Ash and Iris, while Leafeon... well... he will welcome Virgil?

Well we see he doesn't carry them all on him at the same time. It seemed like he only had Eevee and Espeon with him before they got back to the base.
