Did you ever trade/battle in Gen I?

Never traded with others in GenI, but I did do a trade here and there. Nothing major though. GenII is where I became heavily involved with the non-NPC interaction

I did trade between my own versions of Red, Yellow, Silver, and Crystal, but almost never with others.

I traded a Seel and a Kadabra from my Crystal to Yellow. I only had a few badges on Yellow at the time.

Dewgong and Alakazam became my starters.

Yup! I battled and traded all the time with my nephews and my friends around in the neighborhood! I even remember having a friend help me trade ALL of my Pokemon to my Gold Version so I could restart yellow. Then...I found out that my PIKACHU WAS SHINY when I traded it to Gold!

I traded and battled constantly with friends and kids from school. The school let us have Gameboys on the bus, so it was a routine bus activity. Everyone would rush to get trades done before the bus got to school, and there'd be anywhere from 1-5 cables linked across the isle... Kids would dare to yank the cable out, risking your save file, but they rarely did because they knew they'd be raged at by a lot of people.

I had a couple friends and my cousin who had the 1st Gen games. Gen 2 was when a lot more people I knew got there GBC's so the trading scene at my school increased around that time.

Quite a bit actually. I went to a friends house all the time and he and his brother owned a link cable. We used to trade pokemon and battle all the time. It was pretty fun. His parents would let him invite a few people over and we would have mini pokemon tournaments from time to time.

I never traded/battled in the 1st gen, except one time I remember. I had Yellow and a friend had Red, so I traded him my Pikachu so he could evolve it and then trade it back. I immediately regretted it when I realised it didn't follow you around still.

rarely but I did in gen 2 alot and through PS2 (Pokemon Stadium 2...I loved that you can trade in game in those XP)

We would trade and battle all the time with a few friends when we were all still just kids. A friend of mine owned a link cable back then which was super hard to get here at the time. I remember how jealous I was of him because of that lol. Ah, those were some good times.

The link cables were highly unreliable, but I traded regardless to complete the Pokedex. Trying to battle was a nightmare.

Cables were easy to get...

I remember trading and battling with my brothers and some of my cousins. Mostly starters and version exclusives.

Yeah I had a cable as a kid and I would always battle and trade with my cousins and friends on our copies of Blue/Red. Those were the days haha.

I traded using my 64. I had a cable but my GBC's cable connector part was broken

I've never tried using connections with my Gameboy yet. All I do is to play casually without battling locally/trading.
