I was a bit disappointed at the time, but I was pleasantly surprised the region was there at all.

Also, I don't think they added back all the areas because of technology limitations back in the day.

Personally I felt like kanto was just there, they put no actual thought or story line into it and it kind of pissed me off. It didn't need to be the same as Y/R/B but some kind of follow up story to what was happening in jhoto, they made it like Giovanni was dead when in the anime he was still running rocket from behind the scenes, they could have done way more with it then what they did.

Of course, it would have been better if it had more access on Kanto. I disliked the wild Pokémon's levels, the puzzles were meh, and the levels of the Gym Leader's Pokémon were around 43 or so, which was good since the player completed Johto's main game with Level 40+ Pokémon. Battlng Red on Mt. Silver was the only good thing in my opinion. I know, the Game Boy Color was limited at the time, but they could've of made more access in HG/SS Kanto. But overall, I was still happy that the region was there.

Gold/Silver/Crystal have always been my favourite pokemon games. They had a lot of features for the time they were made, and I remember never getting tired of playing them years ago. Although yeah, I agree that Kanto was probably too easy, at least compared to Jotho. I personally would've liked to be able enter the Safari Zone like in RBY. Or some kind of Team Rocket event, like in RBY Kanto. Also, trainers and leaders were EXTREMELY easy, at least up to Blue's gym and the final battle with Red (come on, you could probably beat Blaine even right after beating the dragon-type gym leader in jotho). Otherwise GSC games were just fantastic, they had something special...

When I first played it, the only thing I find it ahrd about Kanto was the badges. I didn't know if I had their badge or not coz I'm very forgetful XD nya~

But at the time when Gold and Silver came out, I remember beating the Johto Elite 4, credits rolling all that. And it returns me to the town and it's like oh let's go to Kanto now. My mind was blown, I thought that was the coolest thing ever, that I could go and defeat 8 more gyms. Then you tell me Blue is a gym leader and Red is this hardcore trainer who you have to travel to Mt. Moon to fight against. My 14 year old mind was like wow, this is the best game ever.
^This (though I was around 6 or 7 when it came out but whatever)

At the time I thought it was kind of odd that Kanto was much shorter (and that Victory Road was EXTREMELY short), but I honestly didn't care at all because I got to explore Kanto once again.

Yes they should have, but the games just probably didn't have the memory back then. Remember, the games now have more data than the older ones. So I bet they wanted to, but they just didn't have the space in the memory to spare. So don't be so mad about it.

Since Kanto was just nothing more but a post-game, you wouldn't expect much features we enjoyed back in RBY.

    Most definitely.

The half-baked Kanto region was one of my biggest quarrels in G/S/C. Sure, we have R/B/Y, but way too much was taken out of Kanto:

    Viridian Forest (in G/S/C)
    Mt. Moon was greatly downsized.
    Pokemon Tower
    Safari Zone
    No Legendary Birds
    No Mewtwo
Cinnabar Island (probably the most famous omission)

The Gym Leaders were also ridiculously easy to beat, all the trainers were underleveled, and Kanto just felt, well, empty.

A great thing that they could've done was expand Kanto a bit, keep the original things in it, and add some "anime-exclusive" locations into it. I actually wish they would've done that with Kanto in general. Nonetheless, it's still my all-time favorite Pokemon region.

I actually think that gen2 would have been better if it didn't include Kanto at all. This is because I feel that because they included Kanto it really kept them from making Johto as awesome as it should have been and made both regions half of what they should have been.

Yes, though G/S/C was awesome to begin with.

Yes, I think it also would have been better if they limited the amount of Kanto Pokemon in the Johto region (a ghost gym and NO ONE has Misdreavus? Come on...)

NOTE: Sorry for crappy spelling and grammar, I'm on a busted phone.

Well obviously you guys ARE bullying me if you insist on picking on me for every little post instead of contributing to the actual topic, which is about Skylanders, NOT about me. Capiche? Most of my posts have been trying to juggle an argument with you guys while trying my hardest to think of things I can say about Skylanders, considering I haven't played the game yet, that's hard. Can we PLEASE shut up about me already AND JUST TALK ABOUT THE STUPID GAME!?!

I wished Kanto was the same in GSC as it was in RBY. The whole reason I went into Kanto at all was to be able to catch Mewtwo and trade it, but it wasn't there

Not really, no, it's fine the way it is and adding more would make it too tedious to the story.
