Cool Team Advice: For Competitive Play

    Mienshao (Regenerator)
    HiJumpKick
    U-Turn
    Stone Edge
    Grass Knot
*Leads (I know this lacks set-up potential) and retreats with U-Turn

    Vaporeon (Water Absorb) + Leftovers
    Scald
    Ice Beam
    Wish
    Acid Armor
*Used to switch in on any water damage (or ice) that will be aimed at Gliscor and Arcanine

    Gengar (Levitate)
    Shadow Ball
    Focus Blast
    Substitute
    Disable
*Used to switch in on any threatening Normal/Fight/Ground Damage

Gliscor (Poison Heal) + Toxic Orb
    Earthquake
    Ice Fang
    Protect
    Substitute
*Used to switch in on Electric Damage (cover for Vaporeon) or Ground Damage

    Arcanine (Flash Fire)
    Flare Blitz
    Wild Charge
    Extreme Speed
    Crunch
*Used to switch in on Fire Damage aimed at Metagross

    Metagross (Clear Body)
    Bullet Punch / Meteor Mash
    Zen Headbutt
    Pursuit
    Stealth Rock
*Used to switch in on any Poison or Psychic (aimed at Mienshao), and retaliates with Pursuit (if they don't switch out its super effective, if they do its double damaged)

I need some advice on how this team would work competitively. It was modeled around the idea of switching in Pokemon to cover as many weaknesses as I could with immunities or x4 resistances.

For my last Pokemon (Metagross), I had contemplated on either him (it?) or possibly a Drapion or Ferrothorn.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

This team lacks focus and needs EVs, if you're using it for competitive you need those

that is an important aspect of competitive play (called synergy) but any half-decent team will have that. there is a lot more you have to take into account: how you will deal with entry hazards, set-up users, and any number of specific threats. Also you need to know how the team fits into the metagame as a whole. The best way to figure all that out is trial and error: put this team on a battle simulator and play until you know what your weaknesses are, make adjustments to your team so you can deal with them, and play again. Once you have a good idea of how your team functions in battle, post it in the Competitive team-rate (not here, most of the in-game raters are pretty incompetent) with detailed descriptions and also a comment or two on the main threats to your team (even better: a threat list). I suggest reading a couple of RMTs in the Competitive team rate here or on Smogon... that will give you a better idea of what to do.

Remember if you want to play seriously you need EVs!

I know that's a lot to swallow, but if you want a successful competitive team you need to go through the steps.

    Hope this helped.

    For Mienshao
Use Fake Out instead of Grass Knot for a free Attack and Mienshao has less Special Attack than Attack. Give Mienshao a Life Orb for a good combo with Regenerator and U-Turn.

    For Arcanine
Use Close Combat instead of Crunch if you can breed. Give Arcanine a Choice Band.

Hey everyone, I wanted some help finishing a team. Now I have:
    Haxorus @Choice Band
    Adamant 252 Atk/ 4 Def/ 252 Spe
    -Outrage
    -EQ
    -Dragon Claw
    -Superpower

    Togekiss @Leftovers
    Calm 252 HP/ 56 Def/ 200 SpD
    -T-Wave
    -Aura Sphere
    -Wish
    -Air Slash

    Infernape @ Choice Scarf
    Hasty 252 Atk/ 4 SpA/ 252 Spe
    -Close Combat
    -Mach Punch
    -Fire Blast
    -U-Turn

I would like to keep these three intact while finding something to take out Dragon and Ice types. Infernape can dispatch Ice without problem but outside of that I get no help. Haxorus can only take out Dragons if Togekiss can paralyze them first. I'm open to moveset suggestions. Please help

First of all, make your own thread

Second of all, this is a thread from October 2012

My shinies. Just click the links~

    ~Shiny Banner 1~
    ~Shiny Banner 2~
    ~Shiny Banner 3~

My shinies are not for trade or cloning.
Shinies are not listed in order, for example the last shiny on the banner is not always the latest shiny I've obtained.
Banner 1 made by Light Venusaur, thanks ^_^
