I try to nickname all of my Pokémon, whether I use them or not. The names are mostly just common names you would hear except for the gratuitous Japanese, though I have nicknames reserved for certain species of Pokémon. For example: I'll name a female Marill "Mousey", and only "Mousey" because I'm uncreative, and also because it reminds me of my first Marill from Silver.

here are a few pokemon I have that I have given nicknames to.
jaws the sharpedo(who saw that one coming you know besides from everyone)
darkcrystl the shiny gigalith(not sure why I decided to nickname her that I thought it sounded good)
I use to own a typhlosion nicknamed volcano back during generation 2 then I restarted my game and he "died".
I am thinking about getting 2 volcarona one male and one female and nicknaming them mothra and mothra leo
finally, I have 2 zoroark one nicknamed shadowwolf who is male and the other shadowfox who is female.
and that is all the nicknames I can think of for now.

I nickname anything and everything that can be nicknamed. I love abusing the name system for obscure pop culture references and jokes, and it quite honestly disappoints me when something comes through a trade or event unnamed (Unless it's Arceus, because he has the best standard name this side of Andromeda.)

I hope I'm not the only one who doesn't bother naming their Pokemon. It just seems so weird when they say things like "Bruce is paralyzed, it can't move" or "Your Bruce has evolved into Grotle!"

I'm not clever enough for nicknames... plus I really love their regular names! I want the medal from it though, so I keep thinking I should nickname the non-evolving pokemon with their regular names, haha.

Usually I nickname now. My regular theme is Harry Potter characters, basing each name on animal and gender.

For example, my Samurott is Hermione, because it's a female otter and Hermione's patronus is an otter.

I almost always nickname my Pokémon, especially my team. On several occasions though, I also think of quick nicknames for other Pokémon I catch and plan on keeping. Pokémon to me aren't just useless pixels just for the Pokédex. With almost every Pokémon I plan on keeping, I always nickname them, train them slightly, and so on. Not so much, but at least a little bit.

I tend to nickname all of them, in relation to their real life species, habits, personality, gender, itself, etc.

Some oddities iclude naming a Leavanny Keyboard though.

I have nicknamed some of my pokemon, but I quit when my togepi nicknamed mr egg evolved.

I don't often nickname unless I have some meaning to it... or if i think of something i think is cleaver :P

Honchkrow named Bassy (if you watch Kuroshitsuji you would get it)
Haxorus named Lizzie Borden
I couldn't be bothered thinking of any others :P

I nicknamed mine Charlotte, because it starts with Cha- and it sounds classy and elegant to me, fitting a chandelier.

Charlotte is an option. And what about Chantal? It's a nice French name for a girl, and also hints at the ghost type Elite Four member Shauntal and her Chandelure.

I don't really use nicknames...I just don't like them too much. Maybe once in a blue moon if I can think of one.
