As much as I would like Pikachu to sit out of a 6 vs 6 battle, I don't see it happening and I don't really mind so long as it's not in any of the other battles which would give it three battles it's involved in where as everyone else can still get 2(Plus one could get three).

But, wasn't Pignite seen using Flame Charge against Hydreigon in the scans?

Well Ash is only using his Unova team here, not his entire entourage of pokemon. That might cost him because his Unova team isn't exactly at full potential!

Maybe but for example Trip is still Top 128, whether it's a preliminary round or not.

But it doesn't really matter because what we know is that:

Trip

"COTD" or "Stephan"

"Stephan" or "Cotd"

Kotetsu


If it's the 4th round period, then unfortunately, it would be Top 16.

But maybe it's something like:

Preliminary Round- Trip
1st Round- COTD
2nd Round- COTD or Stephan
3rd Round Stephan or COTD
4th Round- Virgil

Sure then it would be Top 8.

But still the number of rounds isn't going to change. There can only be 7 rounds period.

You just either figure out if one or more of the rounds are called "Preliminary Rounds" or straight regular rounds period.

That's what I mean, it doesn't matter for preliminary rounds, there could 4 Preliminary rounds, and Quarter finals, Semi Finals Final rounds, but that still adds up to seven.

Seeing as how Ash vs Kotetsu is a full battle, naturally quarter finals (Top 8) would make sense, however it could easily be Top 16.

But 4th round = quarter finals, full battles, would make a lot of sense, so Top 16, but then again full battles in Hoenn started at Top 32, so it's not completely solid sense.

The rivals have furious battles in the Preliminaries as well. And then, Kotetsu goes up against Bel in the first round of the league itself

I screamed when I realized that Kotetsu might actually put up a better fight than Virgil, who was supposed to be Ash's final Unova League opponent. At this rate I think I'd prefer it if Ash lost to Kotetsu since I don't see how the writers will make Ash versus Virgil any more intense. It's obvious that this is the highlight of the League, if only because Kotetsu's team suddenly got stronger. I smell DEM.

Hmm... a disobedient Hydreigon, a Ferrothorn that has no known Grass or Steel moves, a Samurott with a horrible moveset, and a Riolu that may evolve (taking down Bianca's Emboar isn't all that impressive by league standards)
