oh yeah, Mild/Rash indeed also works for the Houndoom.

Sludge Bomb only hits Grass-types super effectively, and Houndoom already has Flamethrower, so Sludge Bomb is pretty useless. Go with Nasty Plot instead. If you're going to rebreed for a better nature, try and get Hidden Power [Grass] to hit Water- and Ground-types hard, and use that instead of Thunder Fang. If you do that, you can use Modest nature.
