Why are there no inherently evil pokemon?

Well, Mewtwo wasn't technically born - he was created, and his violent nature is said to be due to the scientist failing to give Mewtwo a warm heart. In other words, Mewtwo was - albeit unintentionally - made evil.

Shadow pokemon haven't featured in the anime or at least i haven't seen them, so i don't really know. On the subject of mewtwo, i think he was 'evil' because they wanted to create the ultimate pokemon. So really, it's another case of tragic backstory. Personally, i want to see a true evil pokemon, it would make it more exciting. But sadly that probably won't happen.

Well, Genesect is the next candidate for "evil Pokémon", and they made a Pokémon - Kyurem - the antagonist of the last movie (last that happened was, what, 12 years ago?), so if all goes well, he'll be the Pokémon equivalent of the Daleks. If not, he'll be made a goody goody to make the human villan look more evil. Guess which is more likely to happen... *sigh*

In my view, Shadow Pokemon are what happens when humans suck all the morality and self-restraint out of a Pokemon's heart and leave mindless hate in its place. They're about akin to rabid animals that lash out at anything that moves.

Is that seriously the plot angle they went with in the Japanese version?

Either way, Pokemon have free will. They can think and make their own decisions, as we've seen countless times in the Anime and games. Therefore, that must mean, they are just as capable of evil as humans.

Mewtwo's animé backstory made him a Team Rocket Mew clone who was given the cliché tragic backstory of his best friend "super-dying" (she was dead before Mewtwo was made, and Dr. Fuji was trying to clone her back to life) and him becoming evil because of that and apparently some amnesia-inducing serum.

In the games, Rocket isn't involved at all, there's no dead girl and Mewtwo is more of a super-powered son of Mew who was naturally and unintentionally made as the most twisted and savage Pokémon ever (remember kids, don't make the strongest Poké ever for gits and shiggles).

I don't mind the addition of Team Rocket to Mewtwo's creation but again, the sad backstory think has really worn its welcome by now. Big time.

I Just don't get why the fact Mew killing Jessie's mom in that avalanche is always overlooked along with the fact that in the JPN version it also wanted to kill all the clone Pokemon for absolutely no reason whatsoever, It seems kinda...dark.

I was under the impression that Giratina was actually evil. He was willingly destroying the Dream World or whatever it was. I also thought that Kyurem was being portrayed as evil especially in the movie.

Well I've seen evil pokemon (in some way) in the anime in my point of view
-The three ducklett who stole poor sandile's sunglasses
-The evil togepi in the epsiode "Where no togepi has gone before" I can't remember clearly the episode name
-The litwicks who tried to take the soul of Team Rocket and Ash and co.
-Spiritomb in one of the Sinnoh saga episode
-Pokemon having fun scaring people and stealing are evil acts

Also, IIRC, there was a case where dingoes kidnapped a human baby years ago. So yes, even in our world, animals can be evil through their own will.
