    Default Old One Wars: A Cthulhu Mythos RPG

    All right everyone. After some waiting, let's do this! Signups are still open.

    H.P. Lovecraft was something of a prophet. To many of his fans, they enjoy his readings of dark and powerful entities, unable to be comprehanded by humanity. In which someone tries to brutally display these powers. It was much how we view ants it is how these beings view us. I speak of the powerful Old Ones from his Lore. However, much to everyone's surprise. It is truth.

    However, he did no get everything right. The most powerful one of these beings was Azathoth. Viewed by most as the creation deity of his lore, he is considered the sultan of these daemons and is kept in a state of content by his supernatural musicians. Knowing the ways of creation, destruction and omnipotence, he is the embodiment of the promordial chaos of the universe.

    He is the mad god.

    He can do anything he wants.

    However, because he is mad, he is unaware of the actions he does and more importantly, the consequences they have.

    With a mighty bellow, he released shockwave that affected his spawn, the Great Old Ones.

    The mighty Great Old Ones awoke before they felt something they haven't fell for eons.

    Fear.

    They felt themsevles being squeezed and crushed and absorbed into the darkness. Their very essence became condensed. The result were several large black diamonds, found near some ruins. They are held in different parts of the world as ancient artifacts of a long forgotten civilization.

    You find youself here in the museum when the crystal beckons you. It is sititng there, plain and undetected. You approach and grab it. You cut yourself slight on the edge. From the contract of blood, the Great Old One is bonded to you. It has now been a month since the incident. You have been plauged by nightmares by the Old One in you.

    As you plan to sleep, you see the news on the television of mass suicides going on. Tonight you will get the answers and why this has happened. You and the Old One bonded to you have done something for one another. For you, you have gotten power. Power which will grow as you do. The Old One now has drive and purpose. Both of you grow with one another.

    The world is ripe and there is an enemy among you...

    The first war of the Great Old Ones is about to begin!

    We start the RPG by waking up from a nightmare and we recall the details. It has creepy whispers involved as well ending up with a sense to seek out one another. As you prepare for the day, you turn on the TV and see news of strange bizarre underwater ruins appear. You flip through the channel and hear news of new artifacts being discovered, people going insane and even one of a strane amphian resemblign a human washed up.

    As you prepare to leave, the voice of your Great Old One speaks to you.

    Halt Gao
    California, south coast
    5: 40 am, CT

    Snakes. Thousands upon thousands of snakes squirmed and wrived around his body. The boy kept screaming and screaming, his heart echoeing in his ears, palpitating in his chest, his body wracked with spasms. He could barely breath, and felt as if a snake was wrapping around his neck. He began choking, and just as the dream began to end, with black flooding his vision, he saw above him, a large serpentine eyes.

    "AHHH!" he shouted himself awake, snapping up from his small bed and into his wall. "...ow..." he mumbled, rubbing his forehead. A small dent was left in the plaster of the wall. He looked around his small room, and felt a little more in his place. Out of reflex, he felt his neck for what had been growing for the past month. No real problem yet, you had to touch it to get the real feel of the small scales. It was way too bizzare for his taste, but then again, it didn't hurt. He hoped out of bed, and threw on his clothes for the day. Black shorts, that tended to ride up a bit on his pale legs, and a small black t-shirt that had nothing special on it, beyond a trace design from a video game. He grabbed a pair of fingerless gloves, and pulled them on, looking at the back of the gloves at the white star shape. "How long..." he mumbled, before looking into a secret closet in his room. He blushed, and shut it tight. "....I should move that back a little...." he said, embaressed, before the sound of mewing inturrepted his thoughts. "Star!" he shouted, and rushed down the stiars from the rooms and bathroom, and ran into the kitchen/living room, where a small catbed lie. The bed itself was covered in vomit, reaking of cheap beer and wine. Halt scrutnched his nose and went to the couch, which as usually had the smell of a very drunken night. A small black ball rest on it, and Halt very careful picked it up. It mewed again, and clunk to his shirt with long claws. "Shh....shhh....it's okay Star...it's okay...." he coed to the balck panther kitten, who's name came from a black star patch on her back. He held her like a baby, turned on the radio as he searched the fridge.

    The radio station played the oddest sounds first, which was expected, Halt and his father and his father's many many girlfriends had a small shack of a two story house, and with little money, the radio quality was less than steller. That's when the report came on. Halt froze as he pulled out a small milk baby bottle from the fridge. "A fascinating report today, as a strange amphibein like humanoid was found off a coast of America. Scienitsts have been tightlipped about the occurence so far, but we will continue to prop for anwses" rambled the annoucer woman. Halt shook hsi feed, and began to bottle feed Star. "Drink up Star, you'll need energy today" he cooed, whcih she responded to with more suckles from the bottle. Halt giggled girlishly as his pet, and changed the radio channel again. "New reports have come in about underwater ruins around the Eastern Coast" began the annoucer, and Halt changed it again. "Suicide rates at an all time raise-" "Insanity increasing within the recent month-" Halt just shut off the radio at that point, and walked into the yard with his little pet. He sat on the grass, and removed the bottle, the kitten having her fill, and let her into the grass to play. He laid down on his front to watch the curiousity of Black Star.

    "So cute~" he squeed, and giggled at his own sounds.

    Halt.... moaned a sudden and distant voice. Halt snapped his head about looking for the source, but it wa too early for anyone to be out. Minus his father running to his Wensday girlfriend earlier in the morning.

    "Wh-who's there?" echoed the scared boy.

    Diego Vendrix
    University Lofts- Atlanta, GA
    8:40 AM ET

    Diego looked around as he clutched his head. This city... this place... it was wrong. The basic geometry was out of whack and it hurt his eyes looking at it too long. Space and time seem to not be of the dorm. The smell of the sea was in the air. Diego saw ancient and endless stars in the eyes as horrible screams suddenly filled the air. He saw shadows of flailing figured with a mighty figure towering over them. He was massive and muscular, his wings extending in the air. His tentacles near his head flailed. His eyes glowed as Diego screams as everything melts...

    Diego awaken in a cold sweat. He panted before he sighed and got up. He recorded what he could remember in his Dream Journal before he went to make breakfast. He was enjoying the few days he had left before he had to move back home. His roommate slept at someone else's place. As Diego made pancakes and saved some for his roomie, he turned on the TV.

    "Scientists continue to investigate the underwater ruins. Little is know, but some have stated to be older than any other known..."

    "Outbreaks of hysteria continue to break out as more and more people have nervous breakdowns, erupt into acts of psychosis... some believed it is connecting to the upcoming solar eclipse"

    "Mysterious artifacts depicting the most unusual looking deities, some relating to monsters or beings of great evil have been discovered at an alarming rate..."

    "Rumors of the supposed 'fish-man' continue to occur..."

    Diego turned off the Tv and resumed eating before he prepared to go for a walk. However, as he was about to leave...

    A voice appeared...

    One as old as the stars and coming from his mind...

    "I awaken, child...

    Sabrina Carter
    Dorm Room 236, Miskatonic, Massachusetts
    6:58 ET

    Sabrina walked slowly along the hall, staring at her surroundings. It was a strange place with walls carved out of an unfamiliar pale and gleaming stone. It was beautiful and cryptic at the same time. Sabrina felt like there was a word for this, but she wasn’t sure what it was.

    The hall opened into a huge room, inhabited by twisted sleepers, and slowly meandering monks in purple hoods. Slowly Sabrina became aware of a disturbing fact, the sleepers weren’t sleeping, they were dead, carelessly and irreverently placed. Breathing harder as she looked over the twisted bodies, guarded by unconcerned monks, Sabrina wanted to turn and run. Then suddenly a colossal shadow with fiery ruby eyes rose up over the scene. In an instant it shot out spider leg like appendages from it’s shadowy wyrm-like body

    Sabrina’s eye flung open, she lie in the bed breathing hard, cold from the sweat of her nightmare, and staring at her ceiling. After a moment to recover her senses she looked over at her digital clock, 6:58, two minutes until her alarm went off. Sighing deeply she returned her gaze to the ceiling. whenever she went there. She pondered the meaning of her nightmare and the strange creatures that inhabited it.

    6:59, all was silent save for the muffled sound of traffic outside her window from the street below, and the strange rattle of pipes that inhabited this old building. Ugh, she pulled herself up into a sitting position. She pondered why she’s chosen Miskatonic University, the assortment of law books in their library was quite impressive, but she secretly longed to see the room once again that she’d stolen that strange fiery black crystal from

    7:00, Sabrina’s feet hit the floor as the radio alarm came on. The bubblegum pop song that came on was pleasant enough, though half-over, and she managed to stand up. Across the room her roommate Clare groaned and pulled her pillow over her head.

    Sabrina smirked and dug around for some clothes. She paused, something felt odd, like someone was watching her, but not quite like any feeling she’d had before…

    The pop song ended and the morning DJ came on, “That was Spectral Baby by Jessie Westburn. The news is coming up at 7-oh-5, and let me tell you peeps, it’s been one bizarre morning, reports of UFOs, mass suicides, fish people, a possible location of Atlantis, and we’ll have details on the upcoming solar eclipse, but first, here’s Goldfish Jive by Papa Soda.”

    …this feeling was like an oppressive presence, almost a pressure on her upper back and shoulders. Sabrina looked over at Clare as she yanked out her favorite black shirt, which had an octopus print on it, “Do you feel like someone is watching us?”

    “No,” replied Clare’s muffled voice, “But if I catch someone spying on us I’ll drive my drafting pen into their trachea.”

    OOC: "As you prepare for the day"... The day that has already more than halfway gone, in my case. >__> Ah, the joys of having characters in a different country than everyone else...
    IC:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Yamiko Murakage
    University Lecture Hall - London, UK
    1:40 PM GMT
    Silence haunted the very walls of the abandoned house. Or was it truly abandoned? A figure stood before Yamiko, an amorphous figure made of a strange black smoke... but which for now assumed a form similar to woman. One who bore a blank white face, neither happy nor said, an embodiment of the void itself...
    And yet, when the figure spoke, its voice was deep and demonic. "All is meaningless. All existence is but a void. All our hopes, all our dreams... Just as the sun melts all those who dare to fly near it, there too they drive the endeavoring souls mad with their own persistence. Madness... the lowest possible form of humanity."
    And then came the sound of chit-chat erupting throughout the room. Class had ended, and students were clambering out of their seats, eager to start their weekends. In an instant, Yamiko's head jolted up from the notebook atop which it had been resting. She looked all around her, suddenly shocked by all these people being around. She wasn't in the house of her great-grandmother Celia anymore, that was for sure... Instead she was at uni, at the very end of her history class it seemed. Wow. She must have fallen asleep during class, but she couldn't figure out if it was because the lecture was boring (which it usually was), or because she had been kept awake by similar nightmares last night.
    At any rate, she sat there in her seat, not moving, forcing the other students sitting her row to climb over seats in front of or behind her in order to get out, some giving her dirty looks along the way. But it didn't matter. Nothing mattered. As Celia had just said, it was all meaningless... So why was she still here studying stuff? The world was run by corruption and especially that vile quality of madness, that's why. Casting a dark look at the umpteenth student who uttered a rude remark at her refusing to budge, she slowly rose from her seat. As she did so, she realized that she had accidentally scribbled the word "NIHILISM" all over a page of her notebook. Well that was weird.
    As she exited the hall, the first thing she felt was several raindrops falling all over her. Oh yeah, duh, it was raining. It had been raining when she walked in. Lazily, she withdrew an umbrella from her bag and unfolded it. As she did so, a random guy from her class bumped into her as he walked past. Though he muttered a quick apology, she started to feel frustrated.
    Let's hope the rain that falls on you next is made of acid, she thought as she glared at the random guy. Those people walking around the school grounds... Those stupid, pointless people who only contributed to the world's exponentially growing population... If she had her way now, she would wish for all of them to die right there. But for now she just quickened her pace, holding her umbrella out in front of her so it wouldn't turn inside-out in the breeze. She didn't look up at anyone, not until she found the door leading through the administration building.
    Once inside, she passed by a lounge area featuring a large TV with a bunch of sofas before it. As she passed by the open door leading into the lounge, she saw something rather interesting on the screen. It was a news report about some underwater ruins that had just been discovered. Yamiko couldn't help but snicker. Had they finally found Atlantis? She remember how she used to fantasize about exploring the ruins of Atlantis as a child... Well, it could have been. Temples dedicated to mysterious deities? Beings of evil (which were probably in charge of sinking the place)? Fish-men? Yamiko actually did find this very interesting. For a moment she wondered if her new paranormal-enthusiast friend Merlin had heard of this...
    Oh yeah, Yamiko remembered that this weekend she was going to head up to Oxford and pay a visit to Lupin. Ever since she started having those strange nightmares, and especially with the fact that he had been experiencing similar dreams, she had been wanting to see him more often, every weekend nowadays. Last weekend he had come down to visit her; now it was her turn to drive up and see him. And just as she was thinking that, she exited the other side of the building and walked out towards where her car was parked.
    She started the engine, and the sullen melody of the gothic metal song she had been listening to on the way here rang out across the speakers. She spoke not a word as she pulled out of the parking lot, onto the street, past a few traffic lights... But then, while she was stopped a light crossing an Astor Lane, a voice did speak, but it wasn't her...
    "Yamiko..." It was that strange deep voice from her dream, the voice of Celia in her demonic form... "The darkness within you is deeper that you have thus imagined..."
    "Celia, shut it!" Yamiko cried, shutting her eyes tight. "Haven't I heard enough of you not only last night, but today during class?"
    The figure laughed. A shallow, mirthless laugh. "How naive. After all this time, you still think that I am the ghost of your great-grandmother..."
    "You mean you're not Celia?! But... how can that be?"
    Yamiko was confused now. And then she heard honking noises behind her. Oh, right, the light had turned green. Whoops. As she hit the gas again, she shook her head. That voice must have been wrong. Of course it was Celia. She must have been just playing with her mind just now.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Edwin "Lupin" Tasselbury
    A house near Oxford University
    1:40 PM, GMT

    Lupin was also inside a house. Not quite a house actually, but a tiny little flat. The bathroom of a tiny little flat. And he was a little boy. And he was being carried into the bathtub, which had no water in it. Both his hands were tied together, as were his feet, and there was a piece of duct tape over his mouth. And he wasn't wearing any clothes. For the next few moments, he couldn't do much besides just lay there. But then a tall man arrived, a pair of garden shears in hand. Young Edwin shut his eyes tight, afraid of what was going to happen next. As agony surged through his body, his mind traveled down the drain to escape it. And there, waiting at the bottom of the drain, was a giant chubby mole, its eyes glistening in the otherwise pitch blackness of the pipes below...

    For a long time he lay there, even long after realising that he was his adult self now, and in the basement of a house belonging to someone much friendlier than the man in the nightmare. Still, he could barely move, just lying there and shuddering in the aftermath of the pain he had experienced in the nightmare. Of all the memories that came up in his nightmares over the past month, he had hoped this one wouldn't come up... But he knew it had to eventually. A glance at the clock told him it was just after 1, but he decided to lie there for at least a half hour after that...

    Eventually, he finally found the energy to get up, though he still felt rather weary as he climbed up the stairs. But though the basement was almost as dark as the drain in the dream where that mole-like creature was, when he opened the door to the rest of the house, he came across the pleasantly decorated living room, which still had some half-melted candles on the coffee table, amongst several books. Apparently Merlin had been in a hurry to leave the house today, for he had left the TV on as well. Said TV was now showing a news report about some underwater ruins having just been discovered. Huh, now this was a news report Merlin would've loved to hear... but though he himself was just about in ruins now, he wasn't hat into them.

    Recalling that dream, Lupin was almost afraid to take a shower that afternoon. He actually had to concentrate on the surroundings of this bathroom and how it was much better-kept than the other one and had that nice aroma of bath salts inside it. And then he tried to focus on something else, namely what else was going to happen that day and whether he should just go back to sleep or not. Oh, right, Yamiko was coming over this weekend and would be arriving later this afternoon. Well, that didn't give him much time, did it?

    But he still ended up taking about an hour to get ready for what little was left of the day. After all, he was never one to be lazy when it came to appearance. Despite the fact that his occupation revolved around not being seen, he still took those extra measures to ensure that he looked good. And just as he was putting on his glasses, Merlin walked in the door.

    "So, Dracula rises early from his coffin today," greeted the short guy in the long purple coat. He always liked giving weird greetings like that.

    "You know, come to think of it," Lupin remarked, deciding to play along, "I might fancy blood over tea this afternoon." As soon as he said it, he cringed at the thought, remembering how there was also blood pouring down the bathtub drain near the end of the nightmare he just woke up from.

    "Hahahaha--oh dear," Merlin commented, noticing Lupin's sudden change in mood. "Had quite a bit of a daymare this time, haven't you?"

    "You know it..." Lupin replied, spraying a tiny bit of cologne onto his collar. He wasn't entirely present in this conversation, feeling quite a bit light-headed and still very tired now. "Still, I can't help but wonder if whatever curse was upon that crystal might be affecting me..."

    "I was wondering the same thing... And I hope it isn't merely a karmic effect from knowing you stole it. At any rate, if it is bothering you this much, perhaps I should destroy it. What do you think? ...Lupin? Hello?"

    Lupin had spaced out all of a sudden, for just then he heard a voice... not Merlin's, but a somewhat high-pitched one that still seemed to rumble a bit.

    "Howdy doo, Mr. Wolf?"

    At first Lupin thought it was something out of a deranged cartoon show, but then he remembered that voice. He had heard it before, in every nightmare he had this past month... But who did it belong to?

    I have claimed Celestia Ludenberg from Dangan Ronpa. --My Updated RPer profile--

    Kiruria: Lol, you stole my plan for Sabrina finding out Mordiggian’s name without having him talk proper, which feels appropriate for the character. Guess I’ll have to get more creative.

    Sabrina Carter
    Dorm Room 236, Miskatonic, Massachusetts
    7:40 ET

    As Sabrina dressed and brushed her teeth, she couldn’t shake the memories of her dream. She’d been awoken several times in the past month by nightmares she couldn’t even half remember, and now she couldn’t get this one out of her head; the twisted bodies, the indifferent monks, and the looming shadow beast. It was hard to shift out what exactly was scary about it. Bodies on their own were just bodies, but what killed them? The monks didn’t seem that threatening on their own, nor did the shadow appear to attack, but what the hell was it?

    Worse still, she still felt a looming presence like something inhuman was watching her.

    Sabrina spit out the toothpaste and reached for her water cup. Clare called from the bedroom, “Sabrina did you hear that?”

    “No, what?” asked Sabrina as she held the cup under the thin stream of water from the sink. She assumed Clare meant something on the radio, Clare always listened to the 7:05 news before getting ready for classes.

    “They’re saying they’ve found the body of some sort of fish or frog person,” Clare announced, “con-convergent evolution, they’re calling it.”

    “It’s got to be some sort of prank,” decided Sabina, “you heard all the weird stuff DJ Benny claimed was happening.”

    She rinsed out her mouth and wiped her face. Then checked her teeth in the mirror. What was that dark thing behind her? Sabrina jumped and looked back into the shower, knocking over Clare’s hairspray. The shower was dimly lit and empty save for shampoo, soap, and razors, but there was nothing unusual about that.

    “Everything oh-kay in there?” asked Clare somewhat sarcastically.

    “Fine, fine,” returned Sabrina as she put the hairspray back in place. She opened the door to leave, lying, “just thought I saw a spider.”

    Clare was up looking for clothes. Sabrina grabbed her make-up bag, a little bit of make-up and some jewelry, and she’d be looking cool… or maybe goth, she was wearing a lot of darker colors lately. Maybe something was wrong with her? She picked up her coat, a purple trench coat she’d cut the sleeves off up, there was something comforting about it, but it certainly wasn’t fashion-forward, but at least no one at this school knew the difference, since her fashion changes had happened prior to coming here. Hmm, it was just about the same color of purple as the robes of the hooded monks in her nightmare. Maybe she could sew a hood from the sleeves' fabric?

    Sabrina left before Clare, the only class they had together was an English class focused on the Romantic Period, and that was an afternoon class. Sabrina was a law student and Clare an architectural student, actually it was kind to nice not having to see someone she’d already spent all day with when she returned to her dorm. Clare was a bit harsh on the outside, but nice once you got to know her.

    Sabrina passed a dead bird on the path as she walked towards her first class. Well, she didn’t exactly just pass it. She stopped walking, and stared at the poor creature. There was something familiar about it, probably because of all the dead her dream, she decided.

    There was a gnawing hunger too, something she didn’t understand. She wasn’t really physically hungry, and frankly the bird turned her stomach a little, but she was tempted to knell down and pick up the bird. Luckily, a fellow law student, Franklin, came along, “Sabrina? Hey Sabrina? You okay?”

    “Yeah sorry, just thinking,” she lied.

    “Come on, we’re going to be late,” he coaxed.

    “Yeah,” she replied following him mechanically. What is wrong with me, she wondered.

    ((All right. The prologue won't last long. So, our characters will react to having the deities introduce themselves before they are shown an image to their domain. Afterwards, they go through their day slowly getting powers before they soon actually used one, beginning their character development, such as Halt becoming more confident. As they continue to use thier powers for whatever reason, Hastur becomes more omnious))

    Diego stopped. That voice... what was it? He tries to move, but finds himself unable to. His head hurts and everything begins to spin. It isn't long before he passes out. Diego finds himself once more in the strange and dark metropolis he found himself in his dreams. However, he then sees the skies. The stars are aligned in a vast complex arrangement resembling a gate or a seal.

    Diego was reminded of the seal used in Naruto regarding Kurama.

    However, out of the darkenss space appeared the figure behind the gate.

    Diego was petrified with fear.

    He recognized him. The green coloration. The towring and muscular appearance. The strong hand-like flabby claws. The powerful and massive wings. Most of all were the numerous amount of tentacles appeared where the motuh would be. The being gazed his eyes onto his keeper.

    "Y-y-you're..."

    "Yes child. I AM CTHULHU. I AM THE ALMIGHTY PREIST, GUARDIAN OF THE ELDER GODS. " he bellowed in an almight shout.

    "You see... the strongest of us all... the sultan of existence... in his almight and all-knowing madness caused many of us to be condensed into those black crystalline stones. When you made contact with us, we became bound to your bodies... whatever happens remains unknown...

    But change is coming...

    A new dawn approaches..."

    That was all Diego could take before he ended up reverse-fainting and getting up. Diego splashed some cold water on his face and proceeded to go out.

    He could feel it. Cthulhu's presence. And yet... there was no one going crazy... yet. No disasters or soul swallowing. As Diego ended up exiting the building, he spotted several flyers denoting the need to rise up. With all the controversy of the government, Diego was surprised nothing has really been done.

    Something needs to be done...

    Someone has to take drastic measures...

    Someone...

    If someone noticed Diego, they would have noticed his sclera turning black momentarily, but more importantly, his reflection, now resemblimg a taller, musular and inhuman version of him, but it was also but for the briefest of moments.

    And it begins...

He awakes latter to the feeling of lots and lots of squriming around him. He woke up to see nothing but a dense sphere around him, like a dome. He blinked, before notcing that the dome moved. It was snakes, thousands upon thousands of snakes squirming over themselves. He lookd towards the senter, where a large throne had been made of spotted snakes, holding a solid shape. Under his feet, and the throne, was a large burial mound, with ornate scrptures and walls.

    Halt was reminded a bit of a video game seal, like a large snake made of bigger snakes.

    However, out of the darkenss space appeared the figure behind the swarm.

    Halt was petrified with fear, and felt his heart frieze up in his chest.

    The beast was massive, coiled a thousand times in itself, almost infinite, with a large gold serpertine eye. The colors shimmered alone the scales, and Halt, if he wasn't paralyzed and shaking in fear, would have admired them.

    "Y-y-you're..."

    "Yes hatchling. I am Yig, the Father Of Serpents, devourer of enemies"

    "You see... the strongest of us all... the sultan of existence... in his almight and all-knowing madness caused many of us to be condensed into those black crystalline stones. When you made contact with us, we became bound to your bodies... whatever happens remains unknown...

    But change is coming...

    A new dawn approaches..."

    That was all Halt could take before he ended up reverse-fainting and getting up. The first thought through his head was if little Star as okay. "Star!?" he shouted, snapping his head around, and breathed in relief when her soft mews echoed from his chest. He smiled at the small furry bundle, before looking up at the sky. It was gettign brighter, and Halt sighed a little. He needed to get to the library. "Want to come to work sweety?" he asks the little bundle. She scurried onto his chest, and clung to his shirt. "Let's go then" he teased, and grabbed his signiture black sweatshirt from his house, and put little Star into the hood. He strapped on his rollerskates, and started skating out. He needed the work to keep the house for his father and himself, with Star getting fed as well. Music began to play in his head, a little song from a movie he saw with his old friend Nate...Halt rubbed his eyes, trying not to cry. Nate was one of his best friends, and he left him to come here...to a new hell. "I wish i was in school Star..." he murmured. A mew answered him, but sounded a little afraid. "Star?" He asked, worried. He pased a puddle, and for a moment, he looked taller, with reptilian scalara.

    Sabrina Carter
    Dorm Room 236, Miskatonic, Massachusetts
    7:58 ET

    Sabrina lost sight of Franklin shortly after they entered the building. Lost sight, isn’t quite the right wording, it was more like he disappeared, she followed him around the corner and he wasn’t there. Furthermore, the hall she was now in seemed too old for the building. Sure the school was ancient, parts of it nearly as old as the United States themselves, but this was more like a medieval castle.

    Well, not quite, the pale grey stones shone brightly. She recalled them as being identical to those in her dream, but she still did not recognize the mineral. Something inside her urged her to stop before she entered that room of terror; decaying bodies and living shadows. But something else told her to ignore it, to press forward.

    She slid her hand along them, continuing forward, the surface was flat, but slightly rough. Briefly, the surface became dappled with stucco and paint, and she could see Franklin marching ignorantly ahead of her. And then he was gone. Sabrina understood now, she’d moved into another place, possibly parallel to what she knew to be the real world.

    Her hand ran through something damp on the stone surface. Sabrina looked over at the wall. Big block letters were drawn in something that looked suspiciously like blood. Sabrina scanned over it with her fiery eyes;
    M O R D I G G I A N

    Mordiggian? What, or where was that? She could see an opening in the hall up ahead, there weren’t any bodies viable, but a purple robed figure crossed in front of it. Sabrina broke into a run, bursting into the room to confront the monk, “What the heck is going on here!”

    His head was down, but he appeared to be wearing a grisly mask carved from bone. The monk nodded slightly and spoke in a hoarse voice that didn’t quite sound human, “Mordiggian has called for you.”

    “Who is Mordiggian?” asked Sabrina, just now noticing how infected and claw-like his hands looked. Really, this guy needed to see a dermatologist pretty badly.

    “Mordiggian is the god of the dead,” replied the monk pointing directly across from the door. Before them was a large purple-black stones slab, a table of sorts. Suddenly, behind it rose up the shadowy wyrm-like figure Sabrina had seen in her dream, it’s eyes a bright and flaming red. Instantly she felt very cold, as if her blood had started to freeze. She stared at Mordiggian while the monk continued his speech, “a greater god yet, one whose name we are not worthy to speak, bound Mordiggian into that crystalline form you found. Of your blood, Mordiggian was bound to you.”

    “When I cut myself,” interpreted Sabrina, still staring at the shadow wyrm. It was becoming clearer now, the edges less soft and the form more defined, more three dimensional. The figure had now formed the spider like legs in her dream, and a color was turning dim pale grey-blue, like ice. It’s form seemed impossible, yet there it was.

    “Already, you feel Modiggian’s presence,” proclaimed the monk, and then as suddenly as it had appeared, the scene melted away. Sabrina found herself lying on the floor, with several students gathered around her, including Franklin. He grabbed her shoulders as she sat up, “Jeepers! You just passed out! Are you okay? Maybe we should take you to the nurse’s office?”

    “I’m okay,” lied Sabrina, “I skipped breakfast… low blood sugar, that’s probably all that’s wrong with me.”

    “Are you sure? Prof will understand if you want a second opinion,” he insisted.

    “I’m fine,” reiterated Sabrina.

    She wasn’t fine, she could feel the unnatural presence heavier than ever. Mordiggian’s presence. She could feel those fiery eyes boring into her back... thinking about it, their bond must have been what happened to her own eyes.

    Edwin "Lupin" Tasselbury
    A house near Oxford University
    2:38 PM

    "Lupin, are you all right?"
    Lupin barely heard Merlin's peculiarly accented voice at all.

    "It's that voice..." he finally replied, staring well past his reflection in the bathroom mirror. "The same one I've been hearing in my dreams lately... That same myserious underground creature... I think... this is the first time he's called to me while I'm awake..."
    Actually, now he felt quite relieved, glad that there was someone there standing next to him who didn't laugh at him and dismiss all this paranormal stuff as nonsense. Then again, Merlin had also helped him get that crystal, even if he wasn't influenced by its curse. Why Lupin--and Yamiko, for that matter?

    Merlin nodded in response. "Hmm... Perhaps what you need is a cup of tea to wake you up. I'll go brew some straight away."

    Well, that wasn't quite the response Lupin expected... and soon his quirky little friend was dashing off on his short little legs toward the kitchen. Sighing, he gazed back toward the mirror, and then he noticed the lights in the bathroom go out. Oh great, power outage. Or was it? Looking around, Lupin couldn't even see the doorway anymore, or the bathtub, or the sink. Instead he was facing a large, cold, moist rock. The air was moist, but a cool, dank sort of moist, as if he was in a cave or something.

    In fact, he was in a cave. Caves were usually pitch-dark without carrying a flashlight, but strangely he could still see a little ways inside of there. But he could still feel the increase in pressure from being underground. Yet still, there was a part of him that felt strangely comfortable in this space. For the next few moments, he glanced around, wondering why he was here... but something inside told him he knew why.

    And he did. He saw it when he turned around one time. A great round and furry creature, like some great mole, though with some batlike and toadlike features too. Lupin couldn't really tell what it was, but this was it. The creature who had appeared in each of his nightmares, the one who had spoken to him just moments before. Now that he thought of it, now that he knew that he wasn't in a dream (for all he knew), he decided to finally speak to it, something he had never done before:

    "...Who are you?"

    The creature cleared its throat. "Ah, a simple question. A simple question to address the ruler of a network so complex..." Lupin didn't follow, for he didn't know much about mythology nor paranormal stuff like Merlin did. "Yet, you have bonded yourself to me. A pity, I should say."

    "Bonded myself..." Lupin's voice trailed off. He had heard Merlin tell him once about making pacts with spiritual beings, but didn't that have to be done willfully and through a complex ritual or affirmation or something? He still didn't get it. "I do not recall ever doing such a thing."

    The creature let out a chuckle so hearty that his rotund belly jiggled. "You made an offering to me, a pact with your own blood!"

    "That's preposterous!" Lupin retaliated. "What do you take me as, some sort of insane cultist? I don't even know anything about you! So why would I make an offering to you, no less?"

    "You know, you really have to speak up," the great mole-thingy spoke, rubbing the inside of his ear with a stubby fuzzy finger. "What are you, some sort of sneaky folk? Haha, I kid. I know all about you already. I know your past. I know your father. I know your gang. I know what you do for a living. Think you could just STEAL my crystal and bring it back as some sort of trophy, do you? You know, it is rather stupid of you to try to make a pact with me WHILE stealing something, you know? It's bad practice."

    Lupin was getting annoyed, yet at the same time, a sense of fright was welling up inside of him. "So, those nightmares... you caused those too? And besides, you didn't answer my initial question. Who are you?"

    Another chuckle. "My name is Tsathoggua."

    "Tsa... what?" That was the strangest name Lupin had ever heard of.

    "Tsa-thog-gua," Tsathoggua annunciated. "And I am ruled greater yet by a dark and powerful being whose name we do not mention. I myself preside over the earth, specifically the underground. All things that are hidden, all things that are deceiving. At your service. Or is it you that are at mine?"

    Tsathoggua saluted at Lupin and burrowed into the ground, and suddenly Lupin felt as if he was being pushed backward. Thoughts of previous nightmares Tsathoggua had presented him with flooded his mind, and the space was all of a sudden a spinning array of agony and confusion, of disorientation, of... brightness? Within seconds, Lupin found himself back in real life, back in the house he shared with Merlin... but he wasn't quite right on his feet, and fell over with his head on the still-damp bath mat. He lay there for a few seconds, not quite entirely there...

    Until he felt something wet touch his face. And something else wet, slimy even, stroking his bony cheek. And it smelled of meat that had been sitting out just a bit too long. Opening his eyes, Lupin realised that it was Artemis, their husky dog, licking him in the face, something he really hated. Just as Lupin was sitting up and rubbing the saliva off his cheek, Artemis barked a few times, and it wasn't too long before Merlin entered into the bathroom after her.

    "Good summerlands!" Merlin exclaimed, noticing how Lupin was still quivering as if he had just woken up from a nightmare. "This isn't the work of the crystal again, is it? I've been contemplating whether to destroy it, and now it seems I definitely should..."

    "I think it's too late..." Lupin mentioned, weakly. "Apparently I had accidentally made a..." A sense of fear overcame him. He just couldn't say it. "...Well..." He sighed. "Maybe you're right, tea does sound good right about now."

    As Merlin helped Lupin out without saying another word, he reached inside his pocket for his cell phone, which he used to call Yamiko. After all, she should have arrived by now, and it wasn't like her to take more than forty-five minutes to get here at this time, with the hasty and aggressive way in which she usually drove.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Yamiko Murakage
    On the highway, en route to Lupin's place
    2:38 PM
    The highway was a little bit crowded even this early, with people getting off work/school early for visiting family over the weekend. And a lot of the drivers were going below the speed limit, causing Yamiko to never stay in the same lane for more than five seconds as she weaved all around them. Thankfully, the traffic did clear up over time as she got further away from London, so she expected to get to Lupin's place with few issues. Still, what that mysterious being had said to her earlier stuck at the back of her mind. What if she/he/whatever was right? What if it wasn't Celia? What if the whole reason behind the curse she had lived with had been a lie? Or if this was something entirely different altogether? And did it have to do with whatever curse had been brought about by that crystal that was giving Lupin such a hard time? She had to admit, the nightmares they had did seem very similar somehow... Though maybe that was because they were already very close to each other in real life.
    Just when she thought about that, she thought about that fateful day when she was wandering the streets of London, and came across Lupin for the first time since they were children. It was a miracle if she had ever seen one. Especially with the fact that prior to that, every time she slept with the doll he had given her so long ago, she thought of him and wondered if there would ever be a point in her life in which she would ever see him again. Sure enough, eventually there was.
    But just then, another feeling came over. Or a lack of feeling thereof, rather. Slowly, colour drained from her surroundings, until everything was a gray haze. Yamiko was no longer driving--instead she was suspended in some sort of mist. Among that mist, there was something protruding through it, something that looked like a roof. Ghostly figures drifted about, and everything was gray and dismal... Except for another figure there. A familiar figure. It was Celia, her great-grandmother! There was no mistaking the serene yet oddly malicious-looking old lady there.
    "Aha, I knew it was you," Yamiko pointed out.
    "Wrong." It was that voice again. That deep yet hollow voice that certainly couldn't have belonged to Celia. "I can take any form, you see. However..."
    As soon as the fake Celia said this, she turned into a wisp of that same dark mist as the surroundings. And then that mist materialised again, forming into a yellow hooded figure.
    "This is my true form. You know, it is interesting that someone who already believes she is cursed would choose to make a pact with me, the embodiment of the void itself."
    "A pact?" Yamiko asked. "I didn't make a pact with you. Why would I?"
    "You made an offering of your own blood to my crystal, in the Tower of London."
    Yamiko was getting irritated now. "No I didn't... wait..." She remembered back to that day, when she saw the crystal, and Merlin recognised it and warned her not to touch it. And then she looked at it, and she sneezed on it... but that wasn't a blood pact, was it? Oh wait... she remembered later that day when she was complaining about a bloody nose. Oh great. But that was purely accidental!
    "Do not think too much about why you made the pact. None of it matters. In fact, there are a lot of the things in the world that do not matter. Emotion. Strife. Insolence. Love. Madness."
    "And the countless numbers of stupid, pointless people in this world," Yamiko finished, taking on a stoic tone of voice nearly matching that of this hooded figure with... were those tentacles extending beneath its cloak?
    The figure uttered a low, mirthless chuckle. "Anyway, my name is Hastur, and whether you like it or not, you are now bound to me. And together we have a very important task to accomplish. You see, there are many gods just like me. We are all known as the Great Old Ones, all born from the harbinger of ultimate darkness."
    "So... you're a god of evil then? Of... nihilism?" She recalled the word she had accidentally written on her notebook while asleep.
    "I am much more than that..." Suddenly, Hastur reached out with a tentacle, a ghostly one that shot right through her face. Yamiko felt very cold just then, and also upset... or rather, she wanted to feel upset, but somehow couldn't. All emotion must have been somehow drained out of her...
    And then she heard car horns behind her. And she saw road ahead of her. And a patch of grass beyond it. And she was veering over to the shoulder... Panicking, she steered the car away. While doing so, she lost control of the steering, and the car veered over to the other side of the road. Reacting quickly, she hit the brakes and turned again, ending up going into a wide circle and ending up stopped on the side of the road. Looking around, she also realised that she missed the exit that headed towards Lupin's place. Great, now she would have to turn around somewhere. So she pulled the car forward again, getting off at the next exit and pulling into a parking lot to check a map. Just then, she heard her cell phone ring, and she could tell from the ringtone that it was Merlin. Right now she didn't feel like answering though. In fact, she almost felt as if Merlin was insignificant in this world, that she didn't really care about him.
    So instead she sat there a moment, thinking about what to do next. At this point she was a little afraid of driving the rest of the way, since what if Hastur tried to contact her again and almost get her to cause a traffic accident again?
    ((The characters will develop their pwoers and begin establishing their field of insanity, causing others to act erratically or be influenced. This would be done when our characters are undergoing stress))
    Diego Vendrix
    University Square- Atlanta, GA
    9:00 AM ET
    Diego has been annoyed today. After the whole thing with Cthulhu, he noticed that he was stuck in thought so deep, he ended up missing an event for free goodies. Or rather, most of them ending up running out. He took what he could get in resignation. He noticed that people were avoiding him.
    Even more than usual.
    Now, lonliness was a state that Diego became used to...
    However, he realized something.
    He was not alone.
    He would never be alone.
    He had Cthulhu with him.
    Diego's mind began racing at the thoughts of being with the Great Old One, and the rammifications it would have all around the world. He then ended up in the school square, where he grimaced. The nutty fundamentalsits were here again.
    They came around Fall and Spring to spread their fundamentalist points of views. It annoys him, but these guys seem harsher than usual. After hearing a rather offensive remark, Diego had enough.
    "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! YOU PEOPLE DISGUST ME! YOU CLAIM YOU KNOW GOD." Diego began. His eyes turned gold and a few people noticed, but silence claimed the breath of everyone as everyone faced Diego. Even people in the nearby buildings all around peered through windows to hear him.
    "BUT YOU... YOU! KNOW! NOTHING! YOU STAY, SPREADING YOUR HATEFUL EXAGGERATIONS! YOU LOOK DOWN UPON EVERYONE! YOUR SELF-RIGHTEOUS NATURE SICKENS ME! EVERYONE IS ALIKE! GET THIS THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS! YOU... YOU PEOPLE MESSED THINGS UP. YOU IN THE RELIGIONS, IN THE GOVERNMENTS, IN THE CORPORATIONS...
    YOU ARE THE REASON FOR THE STRIFE OF THIS WORLD!
    IF YOU HAD ANY DIGNITY, YOU WOULD LEAVE NOW!"
    Diego shouted, non stop. When he finally finished, he ended up taking several deep breaths. Everyone looked him shocked. The fundamentalists ran off, terrified by the atmosphere around the boy.
    "Like a high priest, you tore through the heresy to reveal the truth... well done, child," Cthulhu said to Diego. People backed off and went to doing their own thing, Diego's words burned into their heads. Others felt the urge to go back home and rethink their lives a tad or even recieve hugs to quelm the fear they felt.
    The chosen began awakening the power within...
    (Hee… when I first read that I was like, ‘whoa, Diego’s reaction was overkill,’ but he does have Cthulhu in his head, so I imagine it’s actually kind of tame.)
    Sabrina Carter
    Dorm Room 236, Miskatonic, Massachusetts
    9:00 ET
    Sabrina had found it rather hard to focus on class with the feeling that both Mordiggian and Franklin were looking over her shoulder. She knew what Franklin wanted, but Mordiggian’s goals she didn’t yet understand. And her mind kept running over the interview the with the otherworld monk in Mordiggian’s... place? She was gnawing on her pencil before she even knew it.
    She looked at the teeth marks on the pencil in disgust, had she really just done that with a cute boy staring at her? She looked up, Franklin was standing next to her, he didn’t seem concerned about her germs. “Hey, um... so do you want to grab some breakfast before our next class?” he suggested. Around them other people were getting up and leaving, class had apparently ended without her realizing it.
    “Why not?” muttered Sabrina, seeing as she’d already lie to him that she probably needed to eat. Franklin looked happy, “Great! ...I-I mean good, there’s a place just off campus that makes really good breakfast burritos, we can get a couple of those... I think I might want to grab my jacket too, it seems cold in here today.”
    “Sure,” conceded Sabrina. She didn’t really feel that hungry, more disturbed. Mordiggian was hungry though, she knew that from the bird incident, but she wasn’t ready to deal with that yet. What could she do anyways?
    She didn’t feel cold either, what was with that? If anything she felt almost too warm. And where the hell did her pencil go? and what was all this dust on her notebook?
    OOC: Coming up in this episode: Hastur makes a Castlevania reference, and Lupin has an odd case of the munchies. Disclaimer: No real gangsters were harmed in the making of this post.
    IC:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Some random parking lot in some town remotely near Oxford, ~2:50 PM

    For the next few moments Yamiko sat there in the car, listening to her cell phone ring. Around her, all was silent. All the noise of the traffic zipping by on the street was insignificant. The little rays of sunlight trying to peek out from between the clouds was insignificant. Everyone she knew, even, was insignificant. Perhaps even the world as a whole.

    Eventually, though, she did glance over at the passenger seat on which her phone sat. As she did, the screen went dark and the ringing stopped. As if not caring at all, she sank back into the back of her seat, closing her eyes to rest a while. Nothing. Still nothing. She thought of Celia. Strangely, she seemed distant. She thought of that mysterious hooded figure she saw moments before, right before she spun out on the highway. And she felt something, something subtle...

    Yamiko snapped back to reality when a group of rowdy teenage boys passed by in front of her car. They were meeting up with another group of rowdy teenage boys, probably from the secondary school she faintly remembered being down the block, all wearing black vests and exchanging unique handshakes. They spoke in some indecipherable slang and began lighting cigarettes, and then one finally said something intelligible, something about one of the other blokes owing him money.

    "They just don't get it, do they?" Yamiko muttered to herself. "What purpose do they have being here, loitering around, being callous and inconsiderate, leaving indeciperable squiggles on the walls, causing all this madness? They aren't even proper gangsters. They are but the foam atop the sea. Useless. The only thing they can do to help society--if it even matters that they help--is all get together and stab themselves in the chest."

    That thought seemed to make Yamiko feel better--though at the same time, she just didn't care about it all. She took a brief glance at the hooligans before her, then sank once more into the back of her... wait, what was that? She could swear she saw something not right about them... Immediately she opened her eyes to see what was going on, but by the time she looked, they were gone. Vanished. There was some rubble in their place--torn-up black vests, tufts of hair, still-lit cigarettes on the ground, and little piles of dust everywhere. And some bloody knives in their midst. Seven of them, one for each of the hooligans. Yamiko sat there, unmoving, speechless.

    Whoa... what happened?! she thought. Did they all just... die? If so, it looks like they were cremated on the spot... Oh my, I have to get out of here...

    And that she did, immediately starting her car again, backing out of her parking space, and moving back out onto the road she came here on. Once she was further along the road, she saw a police car pass by in the other direction, probably to investigate the crime scene--if there was any crime. Heck, if there was, she was the one whodunit. In fact, right now she was in a bit of a panic, confused about what happened to the hooligans, worried about the police catching her, wondering if she even did anything in the first place... All she did was wish that they would all die, and they just... died?

    "Well done," said a voice in her head. It was Hastur. She knew it from the deep hollow tone of his voice. "What you did was nothing major, but you did something, nevertheless."

    What... what do you mean?
    Yamiko thought back. I didn't do anything! I did... well, I did wish for them to die, but I didn't think they actually... She found the highway entrance again. At least now she knew where she was and how to get back to Lupin's place, for she had passed right by it on the highway earlier.

    Hastur chuckled, in a cold and desolate sort of way. "What is a boy? A meaningless pile of madness. But enough talk. Have at you." Yamiko had to swerve out of the way of a broken wine bottle lying in the middle of the highway at that point. "Remember, you did make a pact with me. You are bound to me. You are in my power."

    How is this possible?
    Yamiko wondered. How is this even fair? I didn't even voluntarily make this pact! It's like accidentally making a deal with the devil!

    "Child of darkness, I forbid you to go mad about this. Relax, and enjoy what you are given."

    Hmm...
    She pondered this as she finally found the correct exit , only a couple of minutes away from Lupin's place now. ...Maybe.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Lupin's Place, a.k.a. A house near Oxford University, around the same time as above
    While Merlin was standing there wondering why Yamiko didn't answer the phone, Lupin was in the dining room enjoying a cup of tea (or perhaps enjoying isn't quite the right word, as he certainly didn't seem to be enjoying anything). As he did, he kept thinking of that vision he just had. Tsathoggua... that darkness-loving mole creature who caused all those nightmares he recently had, who had pretty much made his life miserable this past month or so. Nightmares that left him feeling weary and depressed most of the time, to the point where he could barely focus on things anymore. Thus far, he had not stolen anything since that cursed black crystal. Said crystal had been sitting in a glass cabinet near the dining room table for the past month, but Merlin was just now moving it from its spot, wrapping it in black cloth and resting a clove of garlic on top of it.
    ""What, are you nuts?" Merlin asked Lupin the second he spotted him. He was referring to the fact that Lupin was also snacking on some nuts from a nearby bowl along with his tea. "You're not allowed to be hungry. It's not like you. Now what did I do with my holy water..." His voice trailed off as he looked around, inevitably for more supplies for a banishing ritual.
    Merlin was right. It wasn't like him. For some reason, he wasn't quite feeling much like himself today. Especially after finding out about his accidental pact with Tsathoggua. Yet, strangely, in a way, he actually felt more like himself than ever. It was a strange sort of dual feeling. Yet, if the spiritual wisdom Merlin had been throwing at him all these years was true, then dualities like this were perfectly natural. For a brief second, a tiny little smirk hopped onto his face. He felt a sense of anticipation for the upcoming night, and it wasn't just because Yamiko was coming over...
    At that point, a tiny bit of sunlight peeked out from between the clouds, shining in through the dining room window. Although Lupin was sitting with his back to said window, as soon as he felt the warm rays fall on his black coat, he flinched. Feeling highly uncomfortable, he shut his eyes tight and rose from his chair, immediately reaching for the blinds and closing them over the window.
    "All right, that should do it then." Merlin had reappeared, having also acquired a hammer, a mirror, and a shovel along with the other stuff. "I'll head into the ritual room to set everything up. If Yamiko arrives, let me know..." He paused all of a sudden, as if perplexed. He was blankly gazing at Lupin, who was gazing at Merlin in return... an act that almost seemed to bother him. How odd. Lupin know that he sometimes came across as intimidating to people, but this shouldn't have been true for someone who knew him for so long.
    "...Is it my imagination, or do I feel like I'm being drained, somehow?"
    Drained? Lupin thought this rather odd... Even weirder, he felt a little more energised at that point too. It certainly wasn't the nuts, or the tea. It was a more spiritual sort of energy. If what Merlin just said was true, then it was as if he was robbing him of his own willpower and well-being.
    "Really?" Lupin sassed, though still sounding serious as usual. "Are you saying I'm stealing your energy away? I didn't even know I could do such a thing."
    "Indeed, it is quite a rare psychic ability," Merlin remarked. "It seems I was right the first time. You are nuts."
    Merlin was right again. It was as if Tsathoggua was trying to change him in some way... though in exactly what way, he couldn't hope to imagine.
    Halt Gao
    6 am CT
    college library
    "Good mor--oh!" gasped the current librian, a middle aged woman, as a black blur dart in on blue rollar skates, before sitting itself at Halt's desk. "Halt, please calm down next time..."
    "Sorry miss Kiru" Halt quickly apologized, bowing his head a little. He often did need to hurry for work though. He reached into the head, and put the mewing cub onto a small cat bed on his desk, so she could sleep and he could keep an eye on her. Kiru, the middle aged japanese woman, looked at the cat with a little bit of envy. Black Star was an unofficial mascot for the library, and for more than a couple dozen reasons, the librian wanted her.
    "So Halt....your father and I were talking...." Kiru began to say. Halt bit his tongue to prevent a groan. He hated this part, he owns Black Star, he can't just let her go. Star mewed a little, sensing something in her owner, and patted his hand with her paw. He gave a small look to her, and nods.
    "Talking? I know my daddy better than that, you two were...intercoursing" Halt thought a little bitterly. His fingers drummed on the desk a little. "O-oh...?" he asks, a little nervous as his anxiety started to work up. THe old librain smiled, and got out of her black spinning chair and walked slowly to little Halt. SHe was holding a slip of paper, and from the looks of the clean paper and stamp, it was an official document. His heart beat a little faster.
    "I have an offcial document that allows me to take possesion of the wrongfully owned animals, and treat it as my own. Even your dad signed it" she rasped, and pointed to the signiture. It was legit. Halt's mind froze a little.
    "No...not my Black Star...I can't lose her..." he thought lightly in his mind. He felt a burning in his eyes, and felt sick. He couldn't let the mewing cub out of his sight, let alone her with this witch. But...he couldn't do anything. Halt started sobbing, before that tongue spoke in his ear again.
    Why do you sit there like a mere hatchling? Don't you humans bride yourself with overcoming opposition?
    "I can't though...I have no authority"
    I am the father of serpent! I AM AUTHORITY!
    Halt couldn't remember what happened exactly, but he does remember picking up the little Star, strapping on the roller skates, and fleeing the building as the woman lay on the ground, choking from two small bite marks in her torso.
    ((Okay, so our characters will began feeling the strange events going on and be able to contact fellow hosts. Pick up to two people you wanna contact. Also, They should probably exhibit a physical use of their power, one where they realize 'I did that?' Soon, we will face an NPC))
    Diego Vendrix
    University Square- Atlanta, GA
    9:30 AM ET
    Diego wondered what was going on. He had saw that people were looking at him all weird. As he walked, he remembered his outburst at the square. He was pissed, but never that mad. He wondered if it had anything to do with Cthulhu. He had been noticing some strange things. Electronics seem to go wonky around him. People began to act more spontaneous and erratic.
    As Diego was walking around the city, he touched a pole and shocked himself through static electricity. Diego grumbled before he saw the spark. It remained linger and glowed a bunch of strange colors. "Weird..." Diego said before he looked around and realized he was in the kinda bad part of town. Well, it wasn't bad, but just poor. As Diego headed down through the area, he froze slightly. He saw a rather bitter looking homeless man.
    "What do you want?! This here is my house!" he shouted at Diego. "Where you from?" he slurred.
    "From the university. I'm a student," Diego said, getting ready to bolt.
    "You go to school? Well I'll school you something, get away from my property," the crazy man said. He ran after Diego. Diego couldn't move, something was wrong.
    "Ye not run, but teach him to be afraid. Be afraid of the powers mightier than him," Cthulhu told Diego. Diego felt impulse take over before he felt himself squeezing something. He opened his eyes. He saw something appearing from his shoulder.
    It was a tentacle.
    It was long, strong and power.
    It was squeezing the homeless man, who was petrified with fear and was mumbling in lost tongue.
    Diego let the man go, who scampered away in terror.
    "You feel it... can't you? You sense the others...
    Ah, Yig. We once shared temples and it appears his hatchling is also learning... his name is Halt..."
    "Hey Halt, I'm Diego" Diego said in an optimistic voice, hoping to help the boy.
    Diego suddenly felt a third presence. "Mordiggian has also been awakening. It appears that the chosen of the dark cold one, Sabrina, of the ghouls has problems,"
    "Hey Sabrina... everything all right?" Diego asked her.
    Meanwhile, something rose to confront them. This Old One fused with an elderly man. As he died, the Old One erased his memory and proceeded to use the host body to terrorize. Slowly, he looked up, with a beard of serpents and the features of a crustacean and a spider.
    Sabrina Carter
    Dorm Room 236, Miskatonic, Massachusetts
    9:30 ET
    Sabrina followed Franklin back to the college and their next class. He’d insisted on carrying the bag containing their breakfasts. In the past she would have nearly swooned at such a chivalrous guy, but the past few months had made a serious gouge in her flirting.
    They took seats near the back of the classroom, and Franklin unpacked the food sorting who’s was who’s onto each of their desks. He really was a thoughtful guy.
    Sabrina poked her breakfast burrito with her fork disinterestedly (she always eats food with silverware instead of her hands, being a total neat freak), as other students started to arrive. Class was going to start soon, but luckily in college, the instructors don’t usually get mad if you eat in class. And she would be totally neat about it anyways.
    “Your stomach bothering you?” asked Franklin. Dang, he was trying so hard to be the perfect caring gentleman. Sabrina smiled, a bit of her flirty self surfacing briefly, “Just butterflies. ’Cause, you know, there’s a cute guy around.”
    “Who would that be?” laughed Franklin taking the cue. She saw a flash, a vision perhaps, it was him, in the same pose, but dead. Only for a second, then he was as he had been before. Franklin’s expression changed, he looked concerned again.
    A voice echoed in her head, 'Hey Sabrina... everything all right?'
    Sabrina looked around. Was that Mordiggian? No. It didn’t sound like the monk she’d spoken to, but it didn’t seem like it would be Mordiggian, because she could now feel something else, another weaker presence.
    A chill swept through the room. Other students looked at one another confused, and many put their jackets and sweatshirts back on.
    “I’m alright,” muttered Sabrina, but in her head she concentrated, ‘I think I’m okay, just not having a great day… but, who are you? You don’t sound like the priest, and you don’t seem to be Mordiggian.’
    Yamiko Murakage
    On the streets near Oxford, 2:50 PM GMT
    Everything seemed to calm down a bit once Yamiko got off the highway. Although there was still a worry in the back of her mind about what the authorities would do about those teenage thugs she annihilated just north of here, the fact that no policemen were following her made her feel a little bit more safe. However, just out of curiosity, she turned on the news on her car's radio, and lo and behold, there was a breaking news flash about the incident:
    "...authorities have gathered information from witnesses who all claim to have seen a group of students at the petrol station near Foxhollow Academy suddenly vanish into dust. Footage taken from security cameras at the petrol station confirm that the boys all disappeared in flashes of yellow smoke. Onlookers are wondering if this was the result of a rare paranormal event, or merely a trick of sorts. Further investigation into this matter shall ensue. And now, back to the anticipation around the rugby tournament between Oxford and long-time rival..."
    Yamiko didn't give a rat's behind about sports. For a moment she wondered if Hastur's disappearing trick would work at a distance, for as far as she was concerned, all those big-time athletes didn't deserve to be on this planet either. Now that she thought about it, that was a pretty interesting trick. Anyway, at that point Yamiko was stopped at a busy intersection, with many university students either driving or walking home after a long day of classes. Or people heading towards the university wearing school colours and other paraphernalia, probably attendees of the rugby game mentioned on the news. A bunch of people gathering together to watch a bunch of big and poorly-armoured guys run around and bump into each other? Didn't sound like much fun to Yamiko. They could at least be flying around on broomsticks and trying to dodge balls homing in on them, at least. But no, the real world was boring and nonsensical.
    Currently the crosswalks were occupied by parades of game-goers, taking forever to cross the street even after the traffic light turned. And at that point Yamiko had an idea. A small smirk spread across her face.
    You all shall be banished to the Void. This dimension has no need of all that is here, in this space. Be gone.
    While thinking this, she raised a palm out in front of her, just slightly above the steering wheel. And when she did, a yellow mist flooded into the intersection, out of trash cans, out of traffic signals, out of pretty much every orifice in the buildings and such near the intersection. It enveloped the whole intersection, covering the street, engulfing all people and objects so that nobody could see through it. At first, several people honked their horns on their cars. But as time went by, the number of horn-honkings decreased, until only two remained. The intersection seemed to quiet down, to the point that there was a haunting, empty silence in it.
    After a while, the mist cleared, and when it did, Yamiko saw that over half the intersection seemed to be missing. All but about two or three of the people walking about had vanished. The only people left were a crossing guard, a lady carrying a bagful of groceries, and a little girl holding the grocery lady's hand. All the buildings directly bordering the intersection were empty, save for a couple of shocked shopkeepers and one nerdy-looking bloke in a bookstore. All but about two of the cars had vanished, as had all the cars behind her. The traffic lights in the intersection had also vanished. The streets did too... well, they actually just seemed that way, with the thick coat of yellow dust covering it.
    Utterly shocked, Yamiko looked around at the damage done. She had succeeded in eliminating all the game-goers, but quite a few other people and even objects had vanished as well, including some tables that had been sitting outside a nearby cafe. As for the few people that were left, they looked around just as shocked as she was. One woman was complaining about her classmate suddenly disappearing. The crossing guard was picking up a handful of the yellow dust, letting it blow away in the breeze. After a while, more cars arrived at the intersection, either stopping before the blanket of yellow dust, or gingerly driving through it. Several of them were on their mobile phones, probably calling their friends/relatives or even the police about what happened.
    Speaking of mobile phones, Yamiko's started to ring. From the ringtone, she could tell that the person calling was Brenda, one of her foster mothers. Probably calling to see how her week at school went. And her phone had fallen on the floor in front of the passenger seat. Leaning over, she extended her left hand to reach for it, but couldn't reach it without ducking enough to block her view of what was ahead. If only her fingers were just a bit longer... Just as she thought that, her index finger did in fact grow longer. Well not quite--it sprouted a black tentacle from its tip. One which wrapped around her phone and brought it close to her.
    What in the world was that!? Yamiko thought. Did I seriously just grow a bloody tentacle!? What the...
    She looked to the sides, and noticed that there were cars passing by her now. Hopefully none of them had seen her tentacle... By now it was none of her concern that she missed Brenda's call. She was worried. Worried about what was happening to her. Was this another trick of Hastur's? Speaking of Hastur, at that point his low and hollow voice spoke to her:
    "So I see you have witnessed the consequence of making too general an affirmation. As a result, more vanished than you have hoped. Even that waiter at that cafe who you hated and was lurking at the back of your mind." Yamiko stopped to think. Hastur was right; she had glimpsed that waiter through the cafe window as she was driving by, and now he was no longer there inside. "You see, there is much benefit to being my servant. However, there is one problem. Cthulhu, my brother, has also awakened." Hastur's tone of voice grew even lower at the mention of Cthulhu. Which was a very silly-sounding name, Yamiko thought. "Like the rest of us, Cthulhu has also found a mortal to make a pact with. His name is Diego, and he resides across the pond. However, no ocean can separate the tension between us. You see, Cthulhu is the harbinger of madness. He is the bane of all, a disgrace to the rest of us. Yamiko, there is one task I want you to accomplish."
    Yamiko paused. What sort of task? Was she supposed to just punch out Cthulhu? Nah, that seriously can't be it, can it?
    "I want you to destroy Diego. And what's this? Ah, Cthulhu, that infidel. He is trying to amass the other Great Old Ones. You must eliminate their followers as well. Turn them to dust, just as you did with these people here."
    "Well that sounds simple enough..."
    Yamiko thought back. "Thanks to you, I can destroy them pretty easily, can't I?"
    It is not so easy..."
    Hastur grumbled. "You notice that a few people in this intersection are still standing. These are people who supposedly matter. Whose wills are strong. Who are somehow able to resist the Void. I daresay the same will be true of the other pawns Cthulhu's friends have chosen. But you must show no mercy. You must put aside all emotion, love, and selfishness, and focus on the all-encompassing power of the Void itself..."
    "Wait, so... How much will I actually need to destroy?"
    "In time, everything..."
    Everything?
    Yamiko thought, as Hastur's voice faded away. And she heard a car horn right behind her. Immediately, she shot a glaring look at that insignificant bastard behind the wheel. All at once, he and the car also turned into a pile of yellow dust. Yamiko raised her eyebrows, slowly turning her head back around... And then she began to laugh. A delightful, satisfied laugh. This was beginning to get rather fun. It was as if she had the power to literally destroy everything in her way. She didn't like that all the dust was yellow though. Why can't it be purple or black instead? Ah well, for now, Yamiko needed to get out of here. In only a few blocks she would be at Lupin's place. Now there... there was a person who mattered.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Edwin "Lupin" Tasselbury
    A house near Oxford University, 2:50PM GMT

    Lupin was all alone for the moment, while Merlin continued setting up materials for a banishing ritual elsewhere in the house. He wondered if that would even help... Would destroying the crystal really destroy Tsathoggua's influence over him? Oh well, he supposed it was worth a try. After all, destroying the crystal would also mean no more nightmares. And that would be a huge relief. Even now, he felt greatly weakened by those nightmares, unable to really do much besides sit there and mope over stuff. They made him feel that there really was no point to him being here, that he should have killed himself long ago rather than running away from his parents, that the only space for him was a void of nothingness. Especially since the only role he really played in society involved him quietly taking stuff away from it. As he sat there sipping at his tea, he started to wonder why he even took the crystal in the first place... For the first time in his life, he actually regretted stealing it--or anything for that matter.

    "Aww, cheer up, mate," Tsathoggua's rumbling yet oddly peppy voice echoed in his head. "Yeesh, I only gave you those nightmares because HE told me to. And I cannot disobey his orders, as much as I would like to. Sorry, mate."

    "Who's 'he'?"
    Lupin replied back. "Is it the 'He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named' you mentioned before?" He knew the answer was yes immediately after he asked it, as if Tsathoggua had mentally given it to him. "What do you want from--I mean, what does HE want from me?"

    "What HE wants, I cannot say," Tsathoggua replied. "He'd have my fat little head if I told you that. I'm not even sure if he wants anything from you in the first place. Well, I digress. I do know that you are not alone in this. There are others out there who have pledged their allegiance to others of us."

    "Like Yamiko?"
    Lupin remembered how Yamiko had interacted with a similar crystal, and had similar nightmares...

    "There are others, all over the world, methinks," Tsathoggua replied after hesitation, as if he was afraid to talk about Yamiko. Can gods even be afraid? "Or all over America at least. People who bonded with others like me."

    "Others like you? Other gods, you mean?"

    "Exactamundo. For example, there is Mordiggian, the Grim Reaper. I kid. He's the god of death, but he does remind me of that silly little human myth. His servant is Sabrina. And there's also Cthulhu, the crazy tentacled menace who Davy Jones seems to be based off of. His servant is Diego. Now, I need to ask a favour of you, Mr. Wolf."

    "What sort of favour?"
    Lupin asked, dismissing Tsathoggua's calling him Mr. Wolf as part of his sense of humour.

    "I need you to say hello to these two. These will be your friends during the upcoming events. They may live far away, but they will be important. You'll find you are already telepathically linked with them. Tell then who you are, where you live, you know, basic small talk. Not that I know much about socializing, as I spend all my time underground. You're on your own, kid."

    Is he mental?
    Lupin wondered, thinking about what Tsathoggua had just said. Which is funny, because at this point, Tsathoggua literally is mental. Do I look like the social type? And I've never even used telepathy before... Ah well, it's better than interacting in person...
    To prepare himself, he took another sip of his tea. For all we know, he needed that tiny bit of caffeine to make sure he doesn't fall asleep while reaching the others.

    First he decided to address the God of Death, because that sounded way cooler. Plus, Sabrina was an interesting name. He had to wonder if she was some sort of witch or something.
    "Hello. Sabrina, I presume?" Gosh, he couldn't think of the faintest thing to say next. "Erm... how do I say this... You are serving Mordiggian, aren't you? It seems all the gods are interconnected or something. I, for one, am associated with Tsathoggua, God of the Underground. My name is Lupin, and I'm here in the UK. Where are you?"

    Wow, that was awkward. But that sounded like a good format for a message. He decided to use a similar one for this mysterious Diego bloke:
    "Diego. Can you hear me? You have touched a black crystal and become cursed by it too, have you not? And now you are bonded to Cthulhu, I presume. It seems all the gods are trying to gather... I met the same fate and bonded to Tsathoggua, God of the Underground. My name is Lupin, and I'm here in the UK. Where are you?"
    He rather liked the last part, so he kept it intact.

    "Well, that's just about enough for now." For a moment, Lupin thought it was Diego replying back, but this was a voice well outside his head. It was Merlin, with Artemis following behind him. "The banishing ritual is best done at sunrise, so we have plenty of time beforehand." At that point, Artemis barked and wagged her tail. "What do you want?" Merlin asked her, taking a glance back at her. "She's been barking at me for the past minute or so. I can read auras, but not minds. Much less canine minds. Say, you're named after a wolf. Are you sure you can't understand dog-speak?"

    "What am I supposed to do, turn into a wolf and talk to her?" Lupin sassed, not bothering to look at Merlin, and tiredly reaching for his teacup once more. But something was wrong. His hand never grasped the teacup; it was as if his thumb had magically disappeared. And he was squatting on the seat rather than his feet resting on the floor, though he didn't remember doing so. His senses seemed distorted. Was he falling into another nightmare? But this was far stranger... All the colours around him seemed a bit duller than before and there was something off about how his tea tasted, but all his other senses seemed enhanced somewhat. Especially his sense of smell. He could smell the incense from the ritual room all the way from here, and there was something peculiar, almost attractive, about how Artemis smelled.

    Speaking of Artemis, Lupin heard her barking still, but it was quite different. The barks actually had meaning. Artemis was sounding impatient, which was unusual given her calm demeanour. And she was mentioning something about a bowl? And water? Ah, she was complaining about her water bowl being empty. And Merlin was usually the one who refilled it. No wonder she was bothering him. But wait. He was actually understanding what she was saying? That was odd indeed. And as for Merlin... His voice seemed muffled somewhat, but he could still make out his words. Merlin sounded utterly frozen in awe.

    "What..." Merlin stammered, pointing an uncertain finger at him. "...Oh my..."
    At that point, Lupin tried to ask "What's wrong", but it came out as a single sound instead, a bark-like sound.

    "...You're..." It was as if Merlin had read his mind and figured out what he was trying to say anyway. "...You're a wolf! You just turned into a wolf!"

    I... what? What was Merlin thinking? Lupin couldn't have possibly turned into a... Oh shipwreck. He did. He saw it as he looked down at his hand, which was now a furry paw. He looked into his teacup and saw his reflection, and sure enough, what he saw was a wolf's head. Apparently one with mostly black and grey and white fur, white around the nose and eyes, black on the outside of his face, and grey with black streaks along his back, though his legs and underside were white. He saw much of the latter as he looked around at himself, including that fluffy grey tail wagging behind him.

    Almost immediately, he ducked under the table and walked under it, noting how weird it was to be walking on four legs instead of two. But it actually felt oddly natural to him. It was as if he had acquired all the basic wolf instincts due to being in the body of one... Speaking of which, he spotted Artemis from underneath the table, and thought she seemed prettier than usual, in a sense. Weird. For a while, he just enjoyed walking around the room, noticing how Artemis took steps away from him but couldn't stop staring at him. He stopped when he got close to Merlin, who gingerly reached down and petted his head.

    "It's funny," Merlin commented as he squatted down to be more in level with Lupin. "I've heard of animal transformations in mythology where the person kept most of their physical features even in animal form. You have the same eyes as before. And you're just about as thin as you were before." He noted how Lupin's ribs were showing through the shorter parts of his fur. "It's like I know it's you, even though it technically isn't. Well. At least now you truly live up to the name of Lupin."

    Merlin was right, in a sense, given how the name Lupin was in fact a derivative of the Latin word for wolf. But just at that point, something else spoke to him. A voice, speaking through his mind...

    Halt Gao
    Streets of South California
    6:30 am, CT

    "Run run run run run" Halt panted as he put his all into his skates. He tores around corners and bends, jumped over parked cars, and was more reflex based in his movements than this morning. Everything wasn't what it was supposed to be. "Why? Why can't it just be normal" Halt wanted to sob. The mewing in his hood, and the hiss in his ears told him that it wasn't a dream. He had fangs, and he bit Kiru. Hard, and with intent to kill. He spat out red spittle from his mouth, and eventually ran into an alley. He fell to his knees and pants, unable to see his arms from the gray pavement with his blurry eyes. "Yig...why..." Halt thought to the hissing voice.

    "Because, hatchling, you will need to do far more and worse if you want to be of use to us" Yig replied, still in his methodical and calm voice. Halt leaned against a wall, and held the mewing cute Black Star in his arms. She purred, and her petted her head, knowing she was scared. As she would be. "Then Yig...who would be us?"

    The rest of the elder gods. Clthulu, Mordiggin, Tsathoggua, and Hastur all have their choosen hosts. Hastur's pet has been busy, and it seems my old friend Cthulu and his host are growing.

    "Old friend? Isn't he...calimari? Halt immeddiately regretted the thought, as something slithers over his neck, and starts to squeeze. Halt choked and struggled, letting out pained gasps and rasps. It was scaly, big shock, and he tried to move against the scales.

    SPEAK IN RESPECT FOR THE HIGH PRIEST OF THE OLD GODS! roared Yig, losing his once respectable tone. Halt choked more, and eventually, before he could pass out, the snake vanished. Halt sputtered and choked, heaving a little as he tried to regain his breath. He panted.

    "I'm sorry....sir...." groaned Halt in his head, having a hard headache. Everything seems dim and fuzzy.

    Hmph. Insignificant shedskin. Now-

    "Hey Halt, I'm Diego" spoke a soft voice in Halt's ears. He snapped his head around, looking for the source. He felt his head drawn to the East. The East coast? As in...Maine...? Halt started to feel a chill down his spine, and he convulsed into a tight orb around Star. He shook violently, and barely managed a message back to Diego.

    "Please...keep me safe...don't make me go back....please..." Halt begged in a tiny voice, almost inaudiable.

    Kiruria: Thanks for bringing Voldermort into this…

    Sabrina Carter
    Dorm Room 236, Miskatonic, Massachusetts
    9:50 ET ?

    (The time in this game is really confusing for me…)

    Sabrina jotted down notes in her notebook, at least she tried to, when one is possessed by an ancient spirit of death and in psychic communication with other people, it’s a little hard to concentrate on making notes. She looked down at her paper, her notes were really hard to read, and she’d subconsciously doodled some sort of worm in the margin… no wait… that was a doodle of Mordiggian.

    Another voice entered her head, it was different from the last one, and didn‘t sound as confident to her, "Hello. Sabrina, I presume? Erm... how do I say this... You are serving Mordiggian, aren't you? It seems all the gods are interconnected or something. I, for one, am associated with Tsathoggua, God of the Underground. My name is Lupin, and I'm here in the UK. Where are you?"

    Ah! Sabrina tapped her pencil on her notebook and tried to reply, she wasn’t sure the first guy had heard her. Did she need to think louder? How do you think louder? She gave it a shot, “Lupin? I’m in Massachusetts, USA… I cut myself on this black rock, it looked like fire, but at the same time it just looked like a black rock…and was bonded to Mordiggian. His priest-monk, or whatever, explained it… more or less… Did something like that happen to you?”

    Something was happening! Yep, Sabrina blinked as Franklin waved his hand in front of her face, both he and the teacher, as well as several other students were staring in her direction.

    “You okay hon?” asked the teacher, a portly woman that vaguely reminded Sabrina of her grandmother, which is how she got away with calling her students adoring things like honey and pumpkin.

    “Yeah, just thinking,” lied Sabrina, “that last law you mentioned… it was pretty fascinating.”

    “Oh, it is,” agreed the instructor. Sabrina nodded, not even sure what law the two of them were talking about.

    ((Okay, so some more communication and the urge to meet grows. Once they do, there will be some moments to bond before they head over across the world to fight the first threat and the shockwaves that will come from that))

    Diego Vendrix
    University Square- Atlanta, GA
    9:40 AM ET

    Diego had felt a spike of something... despicable. On some for of astroinstinct, he faced a direction and growled. He was confused until he felt it. The mighty anger of Cthulhu.

    "My half brother Hastur... the bringer of despair and the embodiment of what you humans call nihilism... We must find the others and put a stop to him before he fully breaks his container and attempts to ruin this world," Cthulu said to Diego. Diego gulped. However, it wasn't long before he felt two more responses. It was from the others he contacted. The first one was from

    ‘I think I’m okay, just not having a great day… but, who are you? You don’t sound like the priest, and you don’t seem to be Mordiggian.’
    Sabrina asked him.

    'My name is Diego. I live in Atlanta and I am the container to the one and only Cthulhu. Diego said as he felt the connection between them all grow stronger. They could actuallly visualize how they looked like in their minds, despite never having seen them before.

    'You're really pretty looking by the way,' Diego added as he smiled at Sabrina. He thought she seemed like a nice girl. 'Everything all right?' he asked her in concern.

    However, he was then distracted by another voice.

    'Calm down old friend. Your hatching has much to learn, do not strike fear in him. It appears he has no father. He is your heir, is he not? The day will come when they will supplant us, Cthulhu spoke to Yig.

    Diego then heard the quiet sound of Yig's hatchling, Halt.

    "Please...keep me safe...don't make me go back....please..." Halt begged in a tiny voice, almost inaudiable.

    Diego could hear the sadness and the pain. He wanted to truly hug the lad and convince him everything will be all right. He even tried to send him the feeling of being hugged through their connection.

    'Hey buddy. It's gonna be all right. I'll protect you..' Diego said before he recalled one of his favorite anime.

    'My name is Diego, but you can call me bro. We're gonna be soulbrothers from now on' Diego told Halt with a smile.

    As the touching moment continued, the urge for them to meet grew. They needed to meet now. That became the focus on their mind.

    Sabrina Carter
    Dorm Room 236, Miskatonic, Massachusetts
    9:?? ET

    (The time, I have no freaking clue anymore…)

    Sabrina and the instructor’s enthusing, over the mutual love of a law that was completely unknown to Sabrina, petered out when the instructor realized class would be over soon and she still had quite a bit of information to disseminate.

    That was fine with Sabrina who was dealing with the voices in her head again. The first voice had returned with a reply, ‘My name is Diego. I live in Atlanta and I am the container to the one and only Cthulhu.’

    Cthulhu… Sabrina might not have heard of Mordiggian before being bonded to him, but Cthulhu she recognized. He was the octopus headed thing from some old horror story, right?

    An image of the boy she was speaking too started to form in her head, and he continued, ‘You're really pretty looking by the way… Everything all right?’

    You’re not bad yourself,’ she submitted, ‘Today has been really weird… I imagine you feel the same way; finding out I’m bonded to Mordiggian, and I only kind of know what that means, but I can feel him, his emotions and needs, and now I’m talking to other people in my head. It’s a trip.’

    Trip. What an old term. But it was the only thing that really came to mind.

    Trip. A trip. Yes. She like that idea, she need to see this Diego face-to-face. She felt a wavering in Mordiggian’s pressure on her. Yes, she decided, he likes that too. Whatever business Mordiggian had with Cthulhu, it was probably more important than outdated penal laws. She shoved her stuff into her bag recklessly, “Excuse me Mrs. Wright, I’m not feeling well, I think I’m going to go back to my dorm and lie down.”

    “Alright dear,” condoned the old woman.

    “Do you want me to come with you, make sure you get there okay?” asked Franklin. Sabrina half smiled, he was so sweet, she’d like to take a walk with him, but no, there were priorities. Then again, she could use a few things from her room before heading off, and she still need to figure out where. The whole idea was crazy. She nodded yes to Franklin, and he got up gathering his belongings.

    Being the gentleman he was he insisted on carrying her bag and opening the door for her. Maybe she could take him with her? No, he’d never believe she was running an errand for ancient god.

    Halt Gao
    Southern California alleys
    6 am, around the later times

    'Calm down old friend. Your hatching has much to learn, do not strike fear in him. It appears he has no father. He is your heir, is he not? The day will come when they will supplant us, Cthulhu spoke to Yig.

    Hey buddy. It's gonna be all right. I'll protect you..'
    'My name is Diego, but you can call me bro. We're gonna be soulbrothers from now on'
    came the sound of the host for Clthulu. Halt shook as he felt what must have been arms around, and made a wimpering mental sound.

    You can talk, friend, because yours doesn't shrival into a small mound of scales at the slightest sign of provocation. Yig snarled. And he has a father...just now he has nothing but me and this hair ball

    "...D....Diego? Could....could you keep me safe....?" he wimpers to the boy Diego. He was so scared. "If my mother found me....I'd....I'd....." he couldn't finsih the sentence, but sent the sasation of a knife stabbing into his testes, as the punishment he would be inflicted for going back to Maine. He stood up unsteadily, and shook violently. The hug was forcing him...must...be....tall...."Yig...is...is there a way we can get to the other side of the coasts....fast?"

    Finally some life in you. There's a snake hole near you, it'll bring you there as fast as the wind.

    "Snake hole?" Halt looked down, and notcied something opening beneath him. A spiral of snakes formed beneath him, and suddenly it opened deep. Halt let out a shriek as he fell through, sliding through what felt like the coils of a springs or some kind of smooth belly. "What is this?!" he shouted as he slid as what felt like unimaginable speeds. Yig didn't anwser, so Halt had to shut up and feel the ride. He could feel the weather change around him, and before long, a new home opened.

    Georgia, East Coast

    "AHHHH!" Halt screamed as he was thrown out of a hole, and landed hard onto his butt near a mexican boy, taller than him by a strong amount. He gulped. "u-um...h0....hia....?" he wimpered.

    OOC: If it helps any, Vampirate Mace, I think the time differences are based on the fact that the stuff going on with all the characters happens at the same time, but the time is different due to the characters being in different time zones. It's around 9:40AM Eastern time (Diego and Sabrina), around 6:40AM Pacific time (Halt), and around 2:40PM GMT (Yamiko and Lupin). The times for my characters are a bit skewed because I had Lupin sleep for an extra hour after the start time, so now I'm just trying to equalize everything out...
    IC:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Yamiko Murakage
    A house near Oxford University
    2:50PM GMT
    For a while, what she had just done actually felt good. The power to effectively get rid of all the simple-minded fools who wander stupidly about this world. The ability to cast aside any petty annoyances that make the world a loud and stressful place. The ability to trim the world as one would a bush in a well-kept garden, so that what's left is something orderly and safe. It was the sort of new world Yamiko always knew would never happen with humanity as it is now, but with Hastur around, this was much different.
    Yet, making this sort of world was not a very triumphant goal. There was a sort of melancholy to it, almost. Yes, indeed, if it was as Hastur had mentioned, in time, everything would be destroyed. In the end, everything is dust in the wind. The world would not be perfect until it was empty, dark, silent. And in a way, it was actually beautiful. It was just what this world needed. Maybe. Just maybe.
    These thoughts lingered at the back of Yamiko's mind as she inched her way into a narrow parking space in between two other cars on the side of the street. In the end, she had to make the car behind her vanish in order to fit in this parking spot. Ah well, it was a boring white car anyway. Why did so many cars have to be white anyway? Why couldn't people pick more interesting car colours, like green or yellow or purple or something? Heck, even black was cooler than white, but then again, maybe people feared being targeted as gangsters or something if their cars were all black. Who knows.
    With a small giggle to herself, Yamiko left the car and walked over to the sidewalk, and then up the steps leading to the place where both Lupin and his friend Merlin resided. As she arrived, she also thought about what Hastur had told her she must do. That her job would be to destroy the ones bonded to the other Great Old Ones, especially Cthulhu. Everyone who has been contacted by a god surely more benevolent than Hastur. Everyone who had powers on the level of hers (maybe). Everyone who had touched one of those cursed black crystals.
    But just after she rang the doorbell, she froze.
    Wait a minute, she thought. I have to destroy all of the others... Inside her, she knew Hastur was slowly nodding his yellow hooded head. ...But that means... That means I'll also have to destroy Lupin!
    Edwin "Lupin" Tasselbury
    Inside the aforementioned house
    2:50PM GMT
    Just as Lupin was getting used to being in wolf form, he heard another voice in his head. A female voice. It must have been Sabrina.
    “Lupin? I’m in Massachusetts, USA… I cut myself on this black rock, it looked like fire, but at the same time it just looked like a black rock…and was bonded to Mordiggian. His priest-monk, or whatever, explained it… more or less… Did something like that happen to you?”
    Lupin thought back to his own black crystal, the one he stole from Oxford's archive and accidentally cut himself on on the way back. Looking at it later (at the time when he first spotted it, he was more concerned with avoiding detection by the campus security officials than with the appearance of the crystal itself), he did notice that it seemed to have an ominous air about it, but maybe that was because it was black. It did seem like fire, but maybe that was because it glowed in the light of the candles Merlin often lit next to where it sat.
    "No, in my case there was no priest or monk," Lupin replied back. "Just this gigantic chubby mole-like creature who enjoys being underground. I also cut myself on a black crystal--I suppose there must have been a curse of some sort on it."
    Then something strange happened, right as soon as he mentally said the word "curse", pretty much. He saw a vision, of a classroom of some sort. And of a young woman, probably younger than him, who almost reminded him of Yamiko with the red hair and the trenchcoat and the subtly dark vibe she gave off. But that was probably just his imagination. No one in their right mind, and certainly not Yamiko, would cut the sleeves off of a nice coat like that, especially not a purple one. Oh well, who was he to be a judge of women's fashion anyway? And Sabrina certainly didn't have the sensitive and melancholic air about her that Yamiko did. She seemed comparatively well-off in fact, starting off university and presumably in a relationship with someone more... normal, at least with respect to Lupin that is.
    "So, have you also noticed being able to do some... unusual things? Mystical powers, strange transformations, or the like? If so, they may be connected to the gods... I myself have just transformed into a wolf, and am speaking to you in that form..."
    Lupin then heard a familiar rumbling yet high-pitched chuckle at the back of his mind.
    "I think that is enough for now," Tsathoggua spoke to him. "You can turn back to your human form at will, you know. If being a pale toothpick with inferior senses and strength is more your thing. But hey, you see? You have a buddy now. Pity that your other buddy, Diego, hasn't responded. I presume Cthulhu's having a fit with his rival brother again. You know, I COULD just take you to where Diego is so you can talk to him in person. Beware though, I hear it is rather sunny in Georgia now."
    Lupin wasn't even listening to the last part of what Tsathoggua was saying. Another thought had occurred to him. If he really could contact the others who were bonded to the Great Old Ones, then did that mean he had that same sort of telepathic link with Yamiko as well? After all, she had also interacted with a black crystal and experienced those nightmares... Yet for some reason, Yamiko seemed distant to him, inaccessible for some reason. If she was bonded to a great and powerful figure, then what sort of creature was it?
    He was interrupted by the sound of a doorbell ringing. Immediately he took a step towards the door, and realised that he was still standing on four legs. Tsathoggua had said he could turn back at will, right? If he said so... So he tried it, rising up onto his hind legs and trying to feel his fingers again rather than stubby furry paws. And it worked. He was human again, and even had all his clothes and everything else intact, down to every last object that had been in his pockets prior to the transformation. Satisfied with this, he walked towards the door. As he walked by Artemis, he noticed that she seemed disappointed or confused somehow, given how she didn't bark at the door like she usually did when the doorbell rang.
    And so he opened the door, only to find a petrified Yamiko who seemed to be looking right through him. She was definitely in shock, like some great terror had stricken her. But as the seconds passed, that shock gave way to despair. Yamiko was trenbling all over, the way she usually did when she was about to start crying. Yet this was a bit different. She was looking at him as if the very sight of him pained her, almost as if there was something wrong with him, or her, or both.
    "...Is something the matter?" Lupin asked Yamiko, barely above a whisper (which in all actuality is how loud he usually talks). Gently, he extended a hand towards her. "Strange things have been happening to me, and I imagine it must have affected you too. Why don't you come in..."
    She did. Literally. Without warning, she flung herself through the doorway and wrapped her arms around Lupin, burying her face into his chest. She just couldn't do it. As much as she was beginning to like destroying things, she couldn't possibly hope to destroy Lupin, not even if Hastur implied that she would have to. Hastur was probably going to be mad at her for it (or facepalming more likely, if he even had palms), but now she didn't really know what to think. In all fairness, she would much rather just destroy herself and be done with it. Was that even possible?
    As Yamiko stood there and cried, Lupin lazily hugged her back, supposing perhaps that she had a particularly horrific encounter with whatever supreme being she had accidentally made a pact with. But in a way, that actually comforted him. Although the curse of the black crystal had weakened his well-being and given him strange powers, he wasn't going through it alone. And it wasn't just Yamiko either. There was also Sabrina and Diego and whoever else was affected. And also Merlin, who at least attempted to understand what was going on with the crystals. In a way, he felt safe.
    ((Okay, so we begin figuring out how to meet one another. I'd figure they'd meet in Providence, Rhode Island. The birthtown and deathtown of H.P. Lovecraft. They'd probably meet at a restaurant to talk and eat. Meanwhile, news reports come in
    Diego Vendrix
    University Square- Atlanta, GA
    9:50 AM ET
    Diego was listening to the conversations that were going on.
    'You’re not bad yourself,’ she submitted, ‘Today has been really weird… I imagine you feel the same way; finding out I’m bonded to Mordiggian, and I only kind of know what that means, but I can feel him, his emotions and needs, and now I’m talking to other people in my head. It’s a trip.’
    Diego slightly blushed. No one ever complimented him on his looks before. However, before he can comment on anything else, he felt something strange. It was a shimmer of sorts. He felt as if something was bending.
    It was reality. Slowly, but surely, the vessels were merging more with their Great Old Ones and they were growing more in power. Diego saw the boy with his young kitten with him. Diego looked at the nervous boy and his first instinct was to hug him. However, he restrained himself.
    Instead, he smiled as he bent down and smiled at Halt. He then gestured to follow him into a nearby class building. Diego went and got something from the vending machine for Halt before he led them somewhere more private.
    "Everything will be all right. Your big bro is here," Diego said before he paused.
    "Do not insult my bro, Yig. You've seen his life. For him to be like this, it must have been crap. You are the father of snakes... the king. That makes Halt the prince... your successor... your heir. your son. We have to undo the damage that his parents has done to him. I fear you not." Diego said to Yig.
    Cthulhu chuckled. "Endless struggle. Eternal defiance. Madness. Willpower. Insanity. Freedom. They are all connected by the emotions of these humans. As long as they move, to resist, to fight against the all-consuming despair that Hastur embodies, they will win. It appears we may soon find our reason for being in these mortals,"
    The wind blew, toward where Rhode Island laid. The homestate of the prophet.
    Of H.P. Lovecraft.
    "Everyone, let's meet in Providence, Rhode Island... Something important is there... I know it..." Diego said before he looked at Halt.
    "Ready to go?" he said as he smiled with a friendly grin.
    (I PMed Kiruria and haven’t been answered yet, but I feel this bears repeating, not to harp, but so it’s understood. I know how timezones and such work, [I may make mistakes, but I know how they work], but rather it’s the chronological inconsistency in the minutes between posts here, not just Kiruria’s, that has been confusing me.)
    Sabrina Carter
    Dorm Room 236, Miskatonic, Massachusetts
    9:50 ET
    Sabrina let Franklin walk her to her dorm. She got her reply from Lupin on the way, “No, in my case there was no priest or monk, just this gigantic chubby mole-like creature who enjoys being underground. I also cut myself on a black crystal--I suppose there must have been a curse of some sort on it."
    She was starting to see Lupin in her mind as well now, he was a wolf? "So, have you also noticed being able to do some... unusual things? Mystical powers, strange transformations, or the like? If so, they may be connected to the gods... I myself have just transformed into a wolf, and am speaking to you in that form..."
    It took a bit of BSing, but she convinced Franklin to leave, and that she’d be fine until her roommate returned. She wasn’t actually planning on staying that long though.
    She thought back to Lupin, “I guess you could call it a curse, as the old Gods were in those stones, and now we’re stuck with them… Powers? I’m not sure, people seem to think it’s colder than I do, and stuff has been disappearing… but, I’ve decided I’m getting out of here, I think I’m going to go find Diego, he’s the one bonded with Cthulhu.”
    She peered out the window from an angle, making sure he actually walked away without making herself to obvious. She felt the same sensation from Mordiggian as before, it kind of seemed like… he was plotting.
    She dumped out the contents of her schoolbag and started to stuff in anything she considered an essential. She probably ought to ask Diego where he was about now, beyond just Atlanta, otherwise this little trip was going to be pointless. She was about to ask when a new message from Diego entered her mind, "Everyone, let's meet in Providence, Rhode Island... Something important is there... I know it..."
    Ah, Rhode Island, for some reason that sounded right to Sabrina. And it was practically next door. Sabrina threw her bag over her shoulder and replied, “Right! I’m on my way!”
    She headed out, looking around to make sure Franklin wasn’t there, then strolled off campus heading towards the city bus depot.
