Lol a guy named Cheren is appearing. Whether is BW1 or BW2 Cheren or just a random trainer called Cheren, we don't know.

The writers must be giving us the -nudge- -nudge- hint.

It sort of is the same thing. I don't think that it ever said that it was Ash's, although it is implied. The scan mentions Cheren possibly appearing soon(I think), but it's implied.

The line doesn't just mention his name, I think there's an implication that he'll appear soon.

It may or may not be fake, since we don't know the magazine though.

Granted charizard might play a bigger role, but it still is similar.

Only because we don't know that validity of the magazine, but none of the translators and/or mods over at Bulbadpedia aren't discrediting the statement of the magazine's implication, of Cheren possibly appearing soon.

No one should be positive because none of us know whether it is true or not.

The way I see it, they wouldn't have mentioned Cheren at all unless he was going to appear in the anime at some point. And considering that most of the new characters (N, Ghetsis, Colress) have already appeared on scans and previews, there's a chance that Cheren will appear very soon. I'm just using the context clues.

I'm looking at that scan you posted and it just seems weird that Cheren would be mentioned only in that small measly line with no focus, pics, or anything.

I tried to decode it syllable by syllable and I'm only missing to get one symbol which is the one that looks like two brackets on a vertical line with a thingy on top. The one that goes before the 3-lookign symbol.

Yeah that was the one I was missing! So yeah I think that Cheren is investigating Team Plasma. I wouldn't mind it if it was BW1 Cheren design but leads to him being in training to take over the Basic Badge position.

The rumors may be that there are rumors of Team Plasma being active causing him to check it out.

Yeah, a new rival is just what Ash needs. I mean why bother bringing back Trip and Bianca and redeeming them after the way they flopped throughout the BW saga when the writers can just write them out of the show? Giving us Cheren - who is supposed to be busy being a Gym Leader - as a rival would be so much better.
