Lightbulb Real life or virtual life?

For us internet beings, most of the time we are only known by a screen name, or perhaps an avatar or user title. Sometimes we wonder, just who is behind the screen of that fellow user posting around? For some of us, the internet is just a tool, while for others, it's literally a gateway to a parallel world.

What side of life do you prefer: your real life, where the grass grows and where humans interact with one another in the traditional way, or your virtual life, the source of knowledge and interaction with a wider range of people rather than your local village or town?

For me, I've always preferred sitting at my chair, keyboard and mouse at my hands and relaxing as my eyes are enveloped with the light of the screen. It's my main source of fun, and video games are the king of entertainment, in my honest opinion. The people I meet on the internet tend to have more in common and know about it best, while my real life friends don't share any of my interests. I also think that there are some benefits to being on the internet: it's one of the biggest resources of knowledge and you don't have to leave your chair to research something. Being bullied/trolled on the internet is better than being bullied in real life: no one can physically hurt you and it's easy to put yourself under a disguise. Watching anything, playing anything, creating anything, it's my life.

Ugh...I think the answer is obvious; real life. Garbage is so much easier to spot. Bad fandoms, dumb arguments, pornography...

    Sad...
I find that real life is way beter than the Internet. Let's start by saying, I don't even have facebook, twitter or any of that sh!t. I only have an Email, because I had no choice. What you said at the end, how you could put yourself in a disguise is a big reason why I don't like these social networks. People just think that because they are behind a computer screen they can do, say anything and get away with it. But they are wrong. Once you post a message on Serebii forums, on facebook, a video on YouTube... Etc It is on the Internet forever. You can not just take an eraser and erase it. It stays there even after you die. People seem to think that a username and an avatar hides them... The internet is a weird thing. It is not bad, nor good. You have to be careful on the Internet as you have to b in real life... In conclusion to all of this, the internet is a very weird thing that some people don't use right because they think they are hidden behind the username.
I will edit this post later to make it make sense.

I prefer real life but I KNOW there are definitely a few on here who spend more time online than in the real world.. such as those who have been members for less than a year but have 10,000 posts.

I'm happy with my life, so I don't need the internet to escape quite as often anymore. It's more of a means of expanding and adding onto my real life at this point, as opposed to a parallel space I run to whenever possible. The only thing I wonder about is that... well, typing comes easier for me at times simply because it gives me more time to think about and look over what I'm about to say to someone. I don't have that luxury in real life, and it tends to bite me at the worst of times, even though I already have the processing speed of a two-toed sloth. :S On top of that, I still trip over my words even when I know exactly what I want to say, and in what wording.

It comes with time, though. I used to be the quintessential internet escapist, make no mistake.

I prefer the internet, because here its an escape of my real life...although it is true that lies are harder to detectand easier to hide, it isn't in anyway easier to manage

They're both great in their own way. In my current situation, I'd have to pick the Internet. But if I had it my way, I wouldn't need to. It's just that the Internet is currently my only connection to my friends (aside from my phone) right now. I only have 2 friends who I hang out with outside of school where I currently live. Then a handful of other people who I'll talk to and sit with at lunch in school. They're great and all, but they're not the close friends that I have out in IL. If I were to move/when I move, I sincerely doubt I'll spend as much time online as I do now. Hanging out with people face to face trumps the Internet every single time.

I like "virtual life" when I'm gaming, but not when I'm on the internet. Like, when playing Dragon Age for example. I've always loved the medieval era and games that are set in that "universe", it's just really interesting imo. Plus you've got like, mages, which is like, totally sick.

I'm not a hermit who sits inside and plays nothing but video games all the time, I love going out as well, but when I'm immersed in a video game (such as Dragon Age), i enjoy myself thoroughly.

Only Real life instead of SPPf. My name has a certain reputation here.

Also, IRL I actually have friends. here, I have, like, Eternalsword7 (sometimes) and no one else, really.

If I had to choose the internet, I'd go with that. I mean, Unlimited Videos, Anime, Pictures, and data? who wouldn't want that?
And you questioned my sanity. My Anime List

I like the Internet, but I get a daily dose of human interaction often. However, when my profession is configuring networks for Internet access...lol. I'm probably on about 7hrs on the weekdays and 12 on the weekends. I mostly enjoy adventures with my friends out and about, but then again I speak my mind better ol.

Since I've been a member here for about six years and just passed Boulder rank as of this past October, I'd say I prefer real life for sure. One could argue I spent most of that time reading internet information for the greater good, but one wouldn't consider the four years I spent getting to know my best friend IRL, Lord Arvan. (That's not his real name, but what can you do.)

Both perspectives have advantages, but a life on the internet is a life spent ignoring the wonderful lightning in the winter. That's my opinion, if you wanted to hear it.

Creating sentience is simple. Accepting it, however, is harder than it looks.

Well there are only two options and one that actually matters.. so I will go with real life.
Sometimes internet is cool though.. because that's where I met my guy, but soon the internet will not be needed for us ..so I will still choose real life.

Well..it depends, but I guess I'll say virtual.

In real life, I can hear the birds chirping in the morning, the cool breeze in the evening, and interact with real living social people.
But my real life is depressing for me, I am a hermit, I am anti-social.

My virtual life is me how I wished I was like. I'm more mature on the internet, I am content on the internet.
I wish I lived like I do on the internet, but that is not possible, sadly.

It depends. Either one wants to uphold a fake life living their dream of whatever they want while ignoring greater problems at hand (kinda like alcohol) while dealing with those who think of action without consequence, or a life where you play a perilous game of life or death, and your early actions can determine your entire future for better or for worse?

Either way, I'd go with real life because SOME people that I've told off (and have told me off) would be complete idiots to make the exact same actions that led to me telling them off in public face to face (the equivalent of these forums) or vice versa.
Yep we should ban baton pass, and weather too. Oh and Trick Room, I'm tired of having to worry about Trick Room all the time. Just ban the move Trick Room, and prankster, it's broken. Ban all status moves on prankster users, they're too cheap. Oh and ban Probopass to it's so cheap. Just ban everything except Magikarp with splash.
Well, actually Blaziken isn't really Uber because some people whined about how they were getting owned by it. I mean, it doesn't stand a chance in the Uber enviroment.

I prefer real life, though virtual reality is easier because you can say almost whatever you want without having to fear being reprimanded or suffering any severe consequences. You also are not judged on your appearance, intelligence, or abilities most of the time.

However, in real life, you can actually experience things. It's hard to explain, but I'm pretty sure that what I'm saying is obvious to most people.

I like both to be honest. Most of the time though, I would say virtual. I like going on my little laptop and do what I want, and I like to live my life. But I have friends here that I trust more than the real life friends that I have.

My preference is easily the virtual life. Not only is it safer, but there's always a threshold of new activity, whereas in "real life" it's the same nightmare every day. School/work, chores around the house, running errands etc.

The internet is where I can be honest with the people around me about my opinions and my identity, but the real world is where my back yard is, where I'm inspired, where I buy books, where I run, bike, play volleyball, and where you can hug people... so... real life, it's the land of oblivion, but still, I call it home. ^^

Virtual life because people are not really going to judge you that much and every non-troll has peoples respect. I would choose real life if people cared for me more and stop making assumptions about me though

Real life. The internet if fun and all but tat the end of the day it doesn't matter. I find fun in real life to be much better than fun on the internet too so it has that going for it as well.
