cresselia? i really have never used protect on cresselia other than once. and i almost never see protect cresselia... because they are so bulky they really dont need that. i slap protect on every pokemon that isn't a bulky setup pokemon like a trick room pokemon etc, has a focus sash, uses fake out, or has a choice item. everyone else on all my teams always carry protect or detect.

You can't just slap Protect on any Pokemon for double battles. Some are viable with it like Cresselia and Heatran but others need there desperate coverage moves to help you in the run.

Kind of what I was thinking. Who runs Protect on Cresselia? The moves much more imperative for frail mons you need to keep safe and on the field for a turn.
Anyways, the club's mono-region tournament's coming up in a day. Everybody ready?
what do you think guys?
we could make this tournament our new topic
Will you enter the tournament? What are your thoughts about it?
Ahh, a rotation tournament. An ubers one at that... and I can't participate. -sigh- never going to get to use Keldeo

Pretty happy with it
Hmm... I guess I'll enter for the Micle Berry. Don't know if I'll really spend much time on it though. I've got a few legendaries that I can quickly train, so I suppose I'll just slap a bunch together and see how it works. xD Never used that Arceus or my Deoxys, and I've got a few event legendaries that I traded for awhile back. Should be enough for me to make a crazily over-powered patchwork of a team. xD Then I can just stick a Chansey into the middle of it and try to pull off some variation of Toxic Stall.

They do well! Typhlosion can OHKO physically defensive Lugia :P I'm so proud ^^ After a Growth, Shiftry does huge damage to Lugia and Giratina, with Dark Pulse or Sucker Punch. If I recall correctly it can OHKO some variants. It also OHKOes Kyogre with Seed Bomb with no Attack EVs at all.
I'm going with a team of Groudon, Typhlosion, Volcarona, Palkia, Kyurem-W, Shiftry. Already have Typhlosion, Volcarona and Kyurem trained so I only need to train three.
I know nothing about rotations so this will really be just for fun.

Yeah, I'm in this too. I'll probably make another thread like I did for the International Challenge soon for it.
Main reason I'm joining is cos I want to use Keldeo and Victini for something. Perfect opportunity! Also, I don't like using Legendaries at all, so this is my free pass. hahaha
Hey guys! i recently made this rain team and wanted some possible advice for it!
The Team has been working wonders for me, leaving me with more wins than ever! This is gonna be a long read, so make sure you have time to read it! xD
Spoiler:- Tornados and Rain Storms:
The Team at a Glance:
Spoiler:- ...:
Team Building Process:
I started with these two, your basic rain team duo in VGC. but i had something in mind for ludicolo. But i will get to that at the end
I kinda just threw this guy on. As you can tell i decided to not use it in the end, but it was fun to use. I made a very bulky final gambit tailwind set. While this worked pretty good, after i finished the team i decided to change it because i didn't feel like it served a good purpose on the team.
I decided to then chose a pokemon to abuse thunder like crazy, and since i didn't want thundurus for the t wave support, and i liked the more bulk on zapdos so i chose it.
After realizing that my team had one ground resist and two flying pokemon, i decided to put garchomp on here. a pokemon that can spam earthquake with little worries of hurting my pokemon.
After looking at my team, i realized a hail team could run threw it, and two pokemon weak to rock is not the best either. plus a cresselia could just wall me while the other pokemon attacks. Scizor fits the role beautifully for taking out ice types, cresselia, and pokes like tyranitar that might mess me up.
After testing with the team, and trying to use staraptor without it actually being useful, i decided to switch to tornadus. while intimidate is on staraptor, i realized with this guy i didn't need intimidate. He counters it. this is a defiant set. which raises attack when a stat is lowered. this guy completely crushes pokemon like hitmontop that would normally get on my nerve. also, startaptor didn't have taunt... something my team likes. tornadus even without prankster is a great pokemon for the job due to it being very fast.
Well... it's a rain team... right? and i think kyogre is banned so... here is the next best thing! politoed! the drizzle sets up the rain, something my team benefits a lot from. The EV's let it live a max attack fighting gem close combat from a hitmontop, a dragon gem draco meteor from a timid (maxed out sp attack) latios, and so much more. Also, the 8 speed EV's help it outspeed pokemon like hitmontop with the same base speed that often run 4 speed EV's. The rest was dumped onto sp attack. A water gem Rain boosted stab hydro pump practically kills any non bulky pokemon, and takes out almost all the bulky ones too in 2 hits like cresselia. Icy wind is my main speed control on the team. It can help my garchomp outspeed poke on like latios after the icy wind and then KO. helping hand is a godsend for politoed. it helps my pokemon become even more powerful. protect is on all my pokemon, so get used to it xD
This guy is one of the most useful pokemon i have ever used. it's ability raises its attack at a stat drop, making hitmontops almost useless. this guy is also a check to a pokemon that i hate, ferrothorn. the EV's are simple and strait forward. it needs the speed to outspeed pokemon like latios, and need to attack to do massive damage. the 4 is on defense because i found out my chances go up for living a t tar rock slide when i put it on that instead of HP. Taunt helps me stop trick room. only one pokemon on my team is good in trick room, so i needed another counter.
Scizor @ Steel Gem
Ability: Technician
EV's: 196 hp/ 156 attack/ 4 defense/ 124 sp defense/ 28 speed
Nature: adamant
-Bullet Punch
-Bug Bite
-Feint
-Protect
This guy is probably one of the most useful, consistent pokemon in the rain! Its fire weakness becomes nullified by the rain, making it almost weakness less... kinda xD The Ev's let is live a cresselia hidden power fire if it has max sp attack and a black belt 66.6% of the time. In the Rain this becomes a certain 100% live i think. Bullet punch and bug bite are standard, but i want to talk about feint. feint is a great move. since i have become more experienced in battling, i have learned how to out predict the opponent. otherwise known as predicting the opponents predictions. sometimes i predict the prediction of me predicting there obvious move xD feint breaks protect, and lets me KO with the other pokemon, which is often super useful.
Garchomp @ yache berry
Ability: Sand Veil
EV's: 4 hp/ 252 attack/ 252 speed
Nature: jolly
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Rock Slide
-Protect
When i added this guy, i thought it would be a beast... and it is!!! the team can easily deal with my own gar chomps' earthquakes, so i can just spam it away! When i made the team, i realized i had a big ice weakness, so instead of making a fancy set or using someone else's fancy set i decided to run a basic yache garchomp. nothing special about it.
Zapdos @ life orb
Ability: Pressure (i really want a lightning rod zapdos to be released already!!!)
EV's: 140 hp/ 4 defense/ 252 sp attack/ 76 sp defense/ 36 speed
Nature: Calm
-Thunder
-Heat Wave
-Hidden power (ICE)
-Detect
Zapdos is a great bulky thunder user, while still keeping that power that thundurus has. The EV's let it live a timid dragon gem draco meteor latios, i think a t tar rock slide, and much more, including many ice move moves. heat wave is important, because the team could be walled by a ferrothorn if i dont have my tornadus anymore. Hidden power ice is for those dragons that thought they would KO it but didn't because of the bulk. The life orb is to compensate for me needing the calm nature for the sp defense boost instead of the sp attack boost.
Ludicolo @ leftovers
Ability: Swift swim
-252 hp/ 4 defense/ 26 sp attack/ 76 sp defense/ 150 speed
Nature: Calm
-Ice Beam
-Giga Drain
-Leech Seed
-Protect
Ahhh finally, the star of the team: ludicolo~! as you can tell, this set is quite peculiar, a mix between the common swift swim sweeper mixed with the rain dish bulky set. Also, this does not have fake out on it. this often lets me play mind games with the foe, because they think i would be running fake out! since most cresselias are sent out first, and they often dont carry protect, they protect with the other pokemon... but wait! leech seed the cresselia! they never saw it coming. this set can live the same draco meteor i have been talking about, and outspeed landorus-t max speed with a scarf on it. and easily KO with ice beam. the rest were dumped onto sp attack. while it can't take a physical hit for its life, it really doesn't matter. this guy serves his purpose and does it better than any other pokemon on the team. i even often use it without rain.
Tell me what you think guys~!

The team seems good. You only have one Rain abuser (maybe two if you count Zapdos's Thunder) though, but I think that's good in case you lose the weather war.
I'll only advice on Tornadus because I'm user of one myself. In the rain, I think Tornadus would be suited to run Prankster and a special attacking moveset, namely with Hurricane. Your team also seems to like Tailwind, as I see things like Latios, Swift Swim Kingdra or even Weavile outspeeding everything barring Ludicolo. However, as you said, Superpower helps with Ferrothorn, so, it's a hard decision.
On the other way, since you don't "abuse" the Rain, you don't need it to be active 100% of the time, so maybe you could replace Politoed with something else and maybe run Prankster Rain Dance on Tornadus.

So, um, when is the tourney we were going to have? Feb 2nd now, and still waiting
Nice team there. I run dual chop over dragon claw. Sub chomp is annoying, and sashes, so it works. Especially vs FEAR sets. =] might be a consideration
Oh and when tr and rain is up, there is pain. Try rotom-w over zapdos. It can cause so much pain. Esp. With specs on. Also kepps a ground resist and hits hard.

thanks for all the suggestions
dual chop is an interesting idea. ill try it out
the tourney was brought back 2 weeks. and it was gonna start this weekend so it is starting on the 16th. the international challenge got in the way of it.
@ firehero:
three problems with running the prankster tornadus.
1: i despise it :P
2: i need a counter to intimidate pokemon, and I LOVE me a good attack boost after an icy wind etc.
3: it is not bulky in any way shape or form. it just doesn't win weather wars. but the time i have the rain up it is KO'd, and t tar and abamasnow are fair checks to it if it doenst have superpower.
i like politoed a lot. scizor is also considered a rain abuser to some extent.
i chose zapdos over rotom w because i need the fire type coverage. plus i dont have too many spread moves on this team... other than garchomp. but i could try a hidden power fire on it.
thanks all!

Me... peronally... i might not participate in the friendly this time after all
I'm learning some new (to me) RNG stuff and im quite excited with it, mostly because maybe i'll be able to RNG on third gen
And yeah... with all of that i dont think i'll have the will to play in the friendly XD
I'll just farm some good pokes for later tournaments
